I have been eating lunch every day at the Salad Shoppe for the past few years and have always been a huge fan of the restaurant. In December I had to have a surgery that put me on a soft/liquid diet for around 4 months. I continued going to the restaurant as they have a great selection of soups I can eat. The staff, who are simply the best, have now taken to making me mashed potatoes and polenta daily to help make sure I am getting good solid foods. Neither of these items are on their menu and this is an over and above level of kindness from a restaurant that really cares. I love coming to Salad Shoppe! It's a great option for vegetarians and vegans, and the all-you-can-eat salad bar keeps me coming back. They always have different soups of the day, and lately I've really been enjoying their vegetarian chili bean soup. The brownie muffin is hands down my favorite treat to finish off my meal. My only complaint is that there isn't a customer restroom. I often come here with my 81-year-old grandmother, and it can be inconvenient not having a restroom available, especially when you'd like to wash your hands before eating. Roll back to the 90's with an all you can eat salad bar. Conveniently located a short walk away from 6 fast EVGO charging stations, we stopped here on our drive to San Francisco and had a late lunch. The staff was welcoming and didn't mind when initially I asked to look around at the selection, then left to look for other restaurants and ultimately we came back after finding Whitey's burger truck for the kiddo. Ha! We are discerning - had to walk both shopping centers to figure out food. When we returned I asked and they said it was ok to bring her burger in. It's a casual spot, hand sanitize, then grab a plate or pie tin and fill up. They had signs that they have farmer relationships and no local issue of cyclospora. Yes..we took the risk. They have salad basics - greens, kale, spinach, arugula. Plus they have a few mayo based salads like pasta and potato salad. Plus randomly there was curtido (cabbage slaw) and I think nopales! I will need to give this place another chance. Based on my very quick take out experience, it's clearly popular, and the people who run it are kind and eager to please. The food I bought was in a fridge, was lifeless. No flavor, just boiled, unseasoned chicken, lettuce and carrots in a wrap for an undisclosed sum - I think it was $10. If it wasn't for the really tasty peanut sauce, it would have been a complete flop. They had a beautiful salad bar though... I just thought it was a bit expensive for a SALAD bar in the SALAD BOWL capital of the whole planet earth... our salads should be amazing and inexpensive. They generally are not. They had a Curry Artichoke Bisque on special... kicking myself for not getting that instead. I look forward to exploring this one a bit more and updating my rating if applicable. read more

Fresh Choice has come back into my life! I've not been in this restaurant until today. I had previously purchased from their case at Star Market, so I already knew it was good. But wow I was overjoyed at the cleanliness of the salad bar, quality and quantity of toppings, and the friendly, hardworking staff. I love tons of things on my salads, but prepping is so time consuming. I will be coming here regularly. We went during rush hour lunchtime and they got everyone through in a timely manner. There was always somehow a table open for seating despite the constant flow of traffic. This place and meal made my day. read more

Went to this Salad Shoppe for the first time. I wasn't to impress given that the employees were not wearing gloves when placing the vegetables out. The next thing was watching them place the spilled vegetables and assorted meats back into the individual containers where they fell out of. Also the ambiance was a little weird since I saw the man and the women watching each person to see if they were sharing their food. One last thing I wanted to comment on is they do not let customers utilize their bathrooms. I thought all business' were required to let their customers access the bathroom. Response: This response is quite hilarious. Assumptions is the incorrect word to use. I was with three other people who stated the same thing. We called ahead to ask for outdoor seating, which they have and we enjoyed since we had our pup with us. They were so attentive, friendly and went out of their way to help us order and bring our food. The salads were delicious and so so fresh. The clam crowder was great as well. Ordered a chicken Cesar wrap and an Asian chicken wrap. Both were dry and more lettuce and veggies with very little chicken. The chicken noodle soup was good. The chili beans were good but more like chili soup. Tried to place an order online with a gift card and was unable to do so. Called directly and was told order could be placed by phone but not paid for by phone. When I got to the Salad Shoppe another employee told me I should've been able to place and pay for my order by phone with my gift card. The large variety of salad items were fresh and the place was clean. The soups were good too, but the "chili" was not chili. More like chili beans. My first in person visit, I've had a sandwich from their grab and go at Star market before. I did have to wait a bit to be helped, but the guy at the register was very pleasant and able to accommodate my request for no tomato on my Thai chicken wrap. They have a soup bar that I will definitely check out when I have more time- the soup of the day was spring chicken wrap and it smelled amazing!! Very clean inside and everything looked really fresh. Once we determined what to do, Josh and his team went to work. The results were amazing slider size sandwiches, a beautiful charcuterie board, and an equally beautiful fruit tray. Josh supplied refills for the fruit and charcuterie boards, which we held in the cooler waiting to be added when needed. The presentation on lovely trays, the personalized service, the follow up asking how it went, and everything from beginning to end was absolutely outstanding! I want to commend the Salad Shoppe on a terrific job catering and delivering for a corporate event. The company that I worked for hosted a staff meeting in Salinas. I ordered a week ahead with a very friendly yet meticulous Lisa. The lunch attendees had various dietary fetishes and limitations. I did not want to just order a bulk deal like most catering places offered. Therefore, I emailed Lisa a Microsoft word document of everyone's order. Low and behold, Josh arrived right on time with a magical box. Everyone's order was completed PERFECTLY and individually wrapped in a LABELED container. Thank you so much for labeling each and every sandwich, wrap and salad. It made distributing the food so much easier! Even the dressings were individually wrapped and labeled. I love this place. I come here a few times a month and really enjoy their salad and soup buffet. They have 3 (I think) soup options with corn bread or French bread, and a huge salad bar. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. There is a good amount of seating inside and a few tables outside. Definitely one of my faves in Salinas and always go back for more! Today I went to lunch & purchased all you can eat soup & salad bar. My 1st and only go round was way too much, so I couldn't finish my salad, I asked for a to go box they said NO! Because it was all you can eat. I let they know it was my 1st & only go round & I just couldn't finish my salad . I told her to throw it away then. Sh said she would do it for me this one time. Keep in mind I ate outside on the patio, I could have taken the whole tray to my car or got my own to go box. In the end She took the salad to the back & packaged it for me. This place is amazing. Fresh ingredients! For Covid it basically runs like a chipotle someone makes your salad for you, and you tell them what you want as you go down the salad bar.
