Well, ...it is Palmdale, so. I feel I could end this review there, but let's go the distance. Waffle Kitchen is located on the east side of Palmdale, where gas stations are the only culinary competition. Waffle Kitchen is easy to find, and because there is a shopping plaza on every corner in Palmdale, there is ample parking. Prior to Waffle Kitchen, this restaurant was a Chili's but due to the unsavory characters and hostile environment of east Palmdale, ...Chili's got out of Dodge. Thanks to the previous tenants, Waffle Kitchen is a modern restaurant. The exterior is welcoming, and the interior is comfortable. Like most businesses in America, founded upon slavery, Waffle Kitchen is struggling to balance its workforce and customer service. Luckily for my family and me, we came in early, so our server only had our table and one other. Our server was effective, working hard enough to not get fired, and I don't blame them. Most people do not know the difference between effective and efficient. Effective is getting the job done, while efficiency measures how WELL the job is done. Waffle Kitchen, judging by the name alone, swagger-jacking Waffle House, does not do the job WELL, and that is reflected in a number of other reviews... but again, ...it is Palmdale. The menu looks identical to Primo Burgers across the street, and do not be miss led by the name, waffles do not receive any extra attention or fan fair. My father ordered the ham and cheese omelet, my son ordered the pancakes, and I ordered the French Toast... ...the omelet had a slice of cheese on top, but Waffle Kitchen was effective, not efficient, as they did deliver our food hottish, relatively flavorful, and in a timely manner. The prices are competitive. Waffle Kitchen is a missed opportunity, as so many businesses are in America. If this company were a cooperative business, the service from the front host to the kitchen... would care and take pride in their craft, as every aspect of the business would be THEIR business. But, ...then again, it is Palmdale. I gave this restaurant 4 stars because all considered... it is good, but far from great. I'd be hard pressed to recommend Waffle Kitchen, but that could be said for virtually any business in Palmdale. Not many people present but slow service to order and all downhill after that. Took a while to get my cold food. It seemed that it sat back in kitchen for a while. I then get food but no fork. It took a bit to flag a waitress to get a fork. My order was missing a extra item which I ordered. Coffee refills nowhere to be seen. Not a bad vibe. It used to be a Chili's, but that failed, so it became the Waffle House. Seems like a dive for locals. The crowd is a little iffy. The menu is somewhat varied, but the dishes are nothing special. I once ordered a skillet, and had to cut up the bacon myself. I recently ordered a meat lovers pizza, and it seemed very cheaply prepared and overly salty. Servers seemed okay. Well where to start. First off the service is HORRIBLE. Like no joke, the place was pretty empty too, so I would have understood if they were packed and I know in this day that businesses are under staffed. But there was no body really in there. So we waited about 10 minutes before anyone came over to take our order. When she did, she was RUDE and snappy. We then waited 30 minutes for our COLD food. I was very upset over this, they really didn't want to take the food back to fix it. Sorry when I am paying money to eat out I expect the food to at least be done and not cold. Ignoring the short-staffed issue, this was still a disappointing visit. Once we were seated, we discovered that our table was sticky and had clear rings from soda. In a previous visit, I noticed that the finish on the tables or maybe they're cleaning supply or even the combination of both resulted in stickiness. That previous visit was about 2 years ago and shortly after they opened. I would have thought they could have remedied that within 2 years. The server was quite nice, though and did not seem irritated that we asked for the table to be wiped down. I give them low rating, because the restaurant was practically empty and there were many other tables that they could have seated us at. Also, I found it strange that during increased covid precautions they chose to fill only the adjoining booths. The restaurant has a decent selection of tables and space, especially considering that they did not have many customers. I'm not sure why the four parties of 2-4 people, all had to be in the same row of booths. We ordered our meal, requesting an appetizer of nachos. When the meal was delivered, the nachos arrived at the same time as some of our main dishes. On the first food drop off, we received the nachos, a side of bacon on its own plate, and my husband's omelette. She said was coming back with the other meal - Bacon & Cheddar Waffle. My husband had to call after her to ask if she got that he also ordered one pancake. She irritatedly said, "yeah, that's coming, too". The parties both in front of us and behind us had been seated and already ordered their food before we sat in the booth. Understandably, someone from the booth behind us asked if anything had happened to their food, because they have been waiting longer than us. The tone of voice and response was quite curt and irritable, saying they were working on it. I can understand that things were not running smoothly in the kitchen, because they were obviously short-handed. Her response could have been much friendlier or kinder, though. After talking to that party, she came out with a couple plates for their table, my husband's pancake, and my waffle. She dumped the waffle in front of me and the waffle in front of my husband, even as my husband was politely saying that the waffle was for me. She couldn't be bothered because she was looking for a place to set a plate with syrup and butter for each of us. I tell she was busy and just decided to change the plates, myself. As I reach for the waffle she said be careful that the plate was hot, but made no attempt to actually move the plates, even though her hands were now free. She stood, watching me move it and yes, the plate was quite hot. Then she left to get more food for the table behind us. She dropped off their food and we had to call after her to please bring us silverware. She brought the silverware quickly enough, but the table behind us had to also get her attention to request their silverware. The food itself was okay. I like their waffles because they are very light & airy. The syrup is also nice because it is less sweet than most. However, both of these characteristics worked poorly with my chosen meal. The cheddar\bacon waffle was pretty bland on its own, so I poured on syrup. The end result was that the waffle got soggy, but somehow still lacked flavor. I almost wonder if the syrup was watered down. I do not like supper sweet breakfasts, so I expected to really taste the syrup's addition. I don't understand how, but the waffle still managed to be bland. Bland flavor and mushy texture is about all I got. As for the nachos, we were disappointed that they came out with our breakfast, instead of before. We took a couple chips, but decided to eat our main meals while they were warm. I normally like their nachos, because their chips are thin, crispy, and fresh. However, by the time we finished our breakfast, the chips were soggy and could only be picked up with a fork. We left 3\4 of the nachos and 1\3 of my waffle behind. I am not sure that I want to go back. Yes, the waffle was still thin and airy, the syrup less sweet, and the chips thin, crispy, and fresh. It just wasn't a pleasant experience and I am debating on if I would want to deal with the service, in order to get them again. Also, I could also make a big rant about how long we had to wait, because they were short-handed, but I think the irritable attitude of our server, lack of forethought with seat us close to everyone, at a tables that was not clean, without silverware, and the overall disappointment in my meal alone, were worth a rating of 1. I am restraining myself from going on about the issue of not paying enough to get competent and happy employees. That would be a whole other review! read more

The food at this place was bangin', don't get me wrong. The service, however, is absolutely terrible. We were the only table besides one other and 2 people in the bar area, and the server took FOREVER to come get our drink order. When she finally did, she didn't bring the drinks back until one person in our party went up to the front and asked if we could get them, and then was abruptly dismissed by the bartender. We then waited another 15 minutes for our drinks with barely anyone in the restaurant. It literally made no sense. I almost wanted to just go pour the drinks myself. However the food was not worth it, 20 dollars for two small waffles with a piece of chicken which wasn't even fully covered to sauce in the middle, and the had browns on the side were horrendous, no flavor whatsoever even when I put some salt on it. Finally, the pancakes were also intact overpriced and tasted terrible, the texture was like rubber. Not a nice experience, don't recommend. What was supposed to be a pleasant Brunch on our visit at 11:16am turned out to be quite an experience. Our first surprise was that upon entering and standing in the entrance waiting to be seated, no one came, after a reasonable amount of time, we sat ourselves down and when our server Hannea F. finally saw us, we were told that we should have rung the bell button to get someone's attention, and insisted upon showing us where this doorbell looking button was. We were tired and really did not feel like getting up so soon, but we followed and were able to see the bell button (see photo). We were given our menu and after another fair amount of time had passed received our Coffee and Water. We settled on what is called the Pancake Combo two of them, one with Bacon and one with Sausage, and 1 Hash brown on the side (see photo) The food finally arrived after a lengthy wait and considering that there were only a couple and a party of 3 this seemed odd. To begin with how the food was, I will start by saying the Hash Brown was very greasy and as you can see by the attached photo, not much to look at, difficult to split between two people and have more then a decent mouthful and most assuredly not worth the $5.95 charge. In my humble opinion , the two best things from this so called Brunch was the Coffee, not so much the taste as it was good and hot, and the Pancakes which were very tasty indeed, however, please take a good look at both our receipt in the attached photo and a closer look to where it states in parenthesis (4 cakes) then look at our Pancakes in the photo, does that look like 4 Pancakes to you??? NO...ONLY 3 , now given the fact that we both got the exact same amount of Pancakes tells me that either the register inadvertently made a clerical error or this was an attempt to cheat us as customers and perhaps even charged us more for this lie. When it came time to pay, I looked at the total amount due (see photo) and carefully explained to our server all of the discrepancies we had encountered today, and how ridiculous the price was for what we actually received , but equally important was the poor service and how no tip would be given. But in all fairness I will give a tip ... and here it is.... If you wish to make a little extra for your service , provide better service and it is not my responsibility to bring all these discrepancies' to your Managers attention , it is yours! read more

I've only ate here twice. I decided to go back because I really enjoyed their waffles but after today I'm NEVER going back. The staff is so disrespectful and unsanitary. It's disgusting. It was around 10am when I went to pick up my food and it was empty no one was there besides 3 employees and their manager. When I got home and took my food out, there was this piece of GUM holding two to-go boxes. Immediately I called to speak to the manager and was told, "he was a little busy if I wanted to leave a message or call back". I said I would wait while I got in my car and drove back. The MANAGER and employee were sitting talking while my phone call had not been answered. He refunded my money and said he would give me a fresh order of food but gave me the same food that was in the boxes. I recently moved to the Palmdale area. Been checking out different restaurants in the area when I stumbled across Waffle Kitchen. I saw a lot of mixed reviews and was unsure if I wanted to try it. I am SO glad that I did!! I stopped in Sunday morning around 8:30AM. Ordered the whole waffle breakfast. The waffles were crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. The scrambled eggs were cooked to perfection. I asked for the bacon (4 pieces) crisp. Bacon was perfectly crisp. The waffles had such an amazing flavor to them. Next time I think I will ask for them to be topped with fruit. The scrambled eggs were way better than any sit down (not fast food) restaurant. Bacon was applewood smoked and super tasty!! Now let's get to the service. When I walked in there was only 1 table seated. I wondered why the heck is this place so empty on a Sunday morning. There was not anybody up front to greet me. At first I thought it may take some time and then before I knew it this gal appeared from the back and greeted me. I told her that I ordered take out. She asked me my name and told me to hold on a sec. Another gal, super pretty (not that it matters, but!! lol) came out and had my order with her. She was very nice (didn't catch her name) in my communicating with her. I could feel through the containers that the food was piping hot. Smelled really good. She told me next time I should dine in because the food would be fresher. The place I moved into is just under a mile away from the place so i knew that would not be an issue. Overall my experience was excellent. Next time I think I will dine in there. I asked the gal who had my order why it was so empty for a Sunday morning. She told me it is usually busier.
