It's Waffle House so not many expectations other than hot food, and pure entertainment from the staff. I do think however it would be nice for people to greet you when you walk in the door and tell you to have a seat or that someone will be with you soon but maybe that's too much to ask‍. I ordered the steak breakfast but it was tough. I know what you're saying, "Who orders steak at Waffle House?". I'm here for the entertainment but not much during the day. I guess that only comes after hours. Oh, and the parking lot needs a lot of maintenance. Grass needs to be cut, weeding needed, and clean up all the trash in the parking lot. My family and I stopped in here after visiting the 1811 Kid Ory house down the road. We are in Louisiana visiting from New Hampshire, but we're originally from New Orleans. Back when we lived in the area Waffle House was a go to spot for us, particularly when we were traveling in the South. Given that, we were excited to hit up a Waffle House for the first time in about 4 years. Unfortunately, this location is a mess. I want to be clear though. The food was okay, what you would normally expect from WH, and the service was great. Everyone was friendly and helpful. This low rating isn't about the people or the food. The literal building was filthy and falling apart. Whoever is in charge of maintaining the structure of this establishment is completely slacking. The ceilings around the vent where we were sitting is turning black (dirt? mold? who knows, could be anything) and looks like it's about to fall. Also, there were dead roaches in the lights in the bathroom. The biggest issue however was brought to our attention because of the weather. We happened to come in during a downpour and when I went to use the women's restroom there was probably an 1/8-1/4 inch of water flooding the bathroom. The men's room had the same issue and it was pretty evident that there was some massive leak. Rainwater was leaking in from the roof and running down the walls. The workers tried to mop it up but it was no use as the roof/wall leak was just too bad to even make a dent while it was still raining. The whole building needs some serious financial investment and an overhaul. We still love WH, but this location needs TLC. In closing, I'd like to reiterate that the two stars should not reflect on the food or service, but on the utter lack of building upkeep. read more

Everyone was extremely warm and friendly. We loved the food and service. "Big Momma" had us laughing with her song & dance. After returning from visiting family, I was in the mood for breakfast. I decide to stop off at the Waffle House in LaPlace. This location is right off the interstate and immediately before the Bonnet Carre Spillway. As I entered the two waitress incredulously looked around when I took a seat at the bar by kitchen. One of the waitress inquired if I was to dine in and I replied "Yes". She took my order of the All Star Breakfast and the Fry Cook immediately commenced in creating my breakfast. As the Fry Cook was gathering the ingredients for my breakfast, the waitress brought me my coffee. The coffee was ice cold. She offered cream and sugar. The second cup I requested was hotter. As soon as my coffee was delivered, part of breakfast delivered. The Fry Cook served me grits, bacon, scrambled eggs, and toast. The breakfast was good but my waitress decided that after serving me one cup of coffee, her duties were officially over. I had to request for butter, jelly, coffee, etc. I never received the waffle that is apart of the All Star Breakfast. After completing most of my breakfast, I told my waitress to cook the waffle and pack it up. I took my waffle home with me. I was the sole patron for most of my visit and I had to remind them that I was even there. The restaurant was far from the cleanest but it was decent. I love Waffle House. This one is horrible. Check out the picture of my unsweetened tea (it is clear). To be fair all of the Waffle Houses in Baton Rouge are horrible as well. Waffle House is ALWAYS on our itinerary whenever we are in the South. After decades of enjoying their pecan waffles, we've finally been disappointed. In our pecan waffles there were no pecans more than an inch from the center of the waffles. And no pecans scattered on top. You ate a normal waffle until your last few bites when you got the pecan treat in the center. Sorry, but if pecan prices are high, either raise your price or stop claiming to serve pecan waffles. This is the only sit down restaurant we found as we drove down the LaPlace exit. We were seated by an employee that was actually about to start eating her meal in the dining room. A bit awkward..felt like we were interrupting her meal. There really should be a rule where employees dine out of sight. My honest opinion. Anyways service was prompt. This had to be the worst meal I've ever had in my life. I sure hope the owner reads these. First, the waitress greeted us with , "do you know what you want yet?" We then said coffee. She quickly came back with good hot coffee and remembered the cream. It went downhill from there. Our bacon and sausage arrived ahead of everything else. When we got our eggs etc, the grits were barely warm with a piece of cold American cheese on top, Sat unmelted. The toast was barely toasted and so cold That The glob of margarine was sitting on it unmelted. The waffle didn't show up for at least 15 minutes because someone they all knew showed up with a baby. Our waitress then abandoned us to go visit and hold the baby. When she managed to remember she was at work she came back without washing her hands. We asked for butter and she then went on a search. This took 5 minutes at which time she came back and announced she couldn't find any. When we sat there shocked, she then said she'd ask the Manager. She came back with a glob of margarine. The waffle was so cold it sat there on the waffle, unmelted. The staff all continued chatting very loudly about who was pregnant and who found out or didn't. What I don't understand is why they can't prepare the meal all at once and being it all to the table at the same time, hot. I don't want the waffle first, and a damn cold one! After s long day of packing our house to move, we decide Waffle House would be a good place for a quick meal & a waffle (it is Waffle House!!) upon entering the restaurant, the room temperature was warm and where we sat, the air was blowing like an arctic freeze (fix the A/C!!) our waitress took her time getting to us - took our order- a waffle & one scrambled egg; smothered hash browns with eggs & 2 coffees! Easy...first the hash browns came, umm can we have silverware? Can we have our coffee?? Do you have creamer? Then the 2 orders of eggs after 5 min wait-no waffle...our waitress sat down to calculate her receipts...looked at me twice...still no waffle...10 mins go by...husband finished his meal. We keep looking for someone to bring a waffle! I was fuming!! We got up as I didn't want it & went to payout-had to ask another server to get our waitress who saw us get up & started making waffle..I yelled out I don't want it now we are finished eating...bless her heart, she needs a different career.
