The food and the service are top tier here I've been addicted since my first visit to this establishment!

So we are visiting this area for the weekend and got a recommendation to eat here for breakfast. We get there about 9:30 or so and know it will probably be busy. We were not wrong, the line was to the door. The slogans on the walls and everything in the restaurant was neat and well organized. I read the two comments on the chalk board and my expectation for high quality food increased significantly. Sadly, that would be it. Two registers looked available, but only one was working. The guy taking orders seemed new and friendly. Unfortunately, his conversation tended to move away from taking orders and trying to make small talk with the customers. This made waiting in line borderline intolerable, especially with the child behind me jumping up and down on the wall leading to the register (thank goodness one of the parents finally made her stop). Once at the register, it seemed that the guy was new (or newer) and struggled with the orders a little bit. After repeating my order a few times, he got it. We went to the "Jam Bar" for coffee and water. The sweetener was almost out, there was no cream and one urn was out (the lady was prepping the empty urn for new coffee). I commented about the cream, but was completely ignored by the employee. Another employee came up and I asked her about the cream. She pointed at the 4-5 single serve creamers there and said that was it. I asked about the metal pitcher and she said, "Oh yeah, that has some too." I told her it was empty. She looked confused and then picked it up and left. So, I just served old coffee in my cup that I had to go find since no one offered it to me ($3.50/cup, I would have assumed it would be pristine, but not so much and no one seemed concerned). Now to the meal: I ordered the Vicious Benny and Old School Breakfast. The Vicious Benny was mediocre at best. The ham and hollandaise were good, but the biscuit was grainy and the over easy egg was runny and a little slimy. And there wasn't a whole lot of taste to the meal. The OS Breakfast was much better, but still not a lot of flavor. The bacon was pretty good and flavorful. The eggs and potatoes were cooked well, just no seasoning. Overall, such a sad experience. Maybe my expectations were too high based on what I saw and the crowd when I went into the restaurant. read more

Several QR codes to sign up for rewards and leave a review, which is fine, and easy to complete, but sometimes it's good to just enjoy a good biscuit. I had the vicious. Amazing. I really want to love this place more or actually I wish I was the type of person who could genuinely say I would frequent this place again. But those folks are out there so here is what you will enjoy if you are like me. At the end is what will annoy you if you're like me. The GOOD I know others complained but I love ordering at the counter taking a number and having staff bring food to the table. My cashier noted that I was with a group and was able to ring our orders up separately but associate the same table number. As folks have noted, they do bring out the food as ready so you have to be comfortable with eating before everyone is served or some folks having lukewarm dish. I love unlimited self serve coffee. Others loved their premade coffee drinks especially the boozy one. I also love the decor, the staff, the large outside eating area. The food was interesting. There was a lot of hit and miss within the same dish. For instance, the table shared beignets and fried green tomotoes. I loved the okra and pimento cheese that accompanied the fried green tomatoes but the tomatoes... meh. I think I would like this dish better during peak tomatoe season. The beignets were hard but the strawberries and cream delicious. The MEH The main dishes weren't enough to complain or rave about. Two folks had omelettes, someone had French toast, someone had the biscuit sandwich with crab cakes, and someone had the limited edition biscuit sandwich. The BAD I live in B.R. proper and we have enough brunch breakfast places for me to frequent without driving half an hour. If I am driving, why not just go all the way into New Orleans! There are like 3 spots for groups over 4. So great for groups of four or two. But that's it. Notice that only two out of six people chose a biscuit sandwich. Unless you want some variation of a fried chicken biscuit sandwich, you are out of luck. They have a decent sides list. They could easy add a make your own biscuit sandwich option that allows folks to have three items from sides menu plus a biscuit on the plate and then the guest puts it all together themselves. Make that a price that matches the other sandwich prices. Tada. YOU'RE welcome! So, if I lived in Gonzales/Prairieville, and they made this change to the menu I could see myself visiting every other month or so. Saw this place when I made a quick trip to Gonzales and was surprised! Walking in, I was greeted kindly and allowed time to decided what I want. I picked the SEC (sausage egg and cheese) along with trying the Vicious beignets. You're able to pick where you want to sit after ordering and they have a Jam bar with an assortment of jams and butters for your Vicious biscuit. The food came out quickly and hot! Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. The biscuits are buttermilk and very much Southern. Breakfast after school drop-off with two other moms (three of us total) at Vicious Biscuits was a win. It was my first time, and Aleja was amazing. It took me 30 minutes to decide because the menu has so many options, but the staff was patient and accommodating. I ordered the Old Fashioned. The big fluffy biscuit had butter baked in and you could taste the salt. Grits were thick and creamy, eggs cooked perfectly, and the thick-cut bacon was delicious. We stopped at Vicious Biscuit in Gonzales for breakfast on Sunday, not quite knowing what to expect. From the moment we walked in, the staff went above and beyond to make our visit memorable. We decided to share a variety of dishes: a classic buttermilk biscuit, shrimp 'n grits, and "The Fat Boy." Their butter and jelly bar is a treat in itself, offering regular, honey, or bourbon butter alongside jams and spreads. My favorite was the blackberry jam paired with honey butter, while my husband preferred the strawberry jam and apple butter. The buttermilk biscuit was enormous--soft, fluffy, and a perfect canvas for those sweet toppings. The shrimp 'n grits were outstanding--creamy grits topped with a flavorful sauce and perfectly cooked shrimp (tails already removed, which was a nice touch). "The Fat Boy" was a showstopper: a piece of boneless fried chicken drizzled with honey and Nashville hot sauce, topped with an egg cooked to your liking, all tucked inside a fresh biscuit. We'll definitely be going back--this time on an empty stomach--because there are plenty more menu items we want to try. The Vicious Biscuit was not what I was expecting. It was better. The staff and service get two thumbs up. The portions were on point. And, the prices were on time. We had the fried green tomatoes, shrimp and grits and the sea biscuit. The fried green tomatoes were fried just a little bit too hard for me but still tasted good. I opted out of the bacon jam and got two dollops of the pimento cheese. The pickled okra on top will have you ordering this appetizer again. This was such an unlikely combination that I would not have put together but definitely will be back for. The shrimp and grits was a very generous portion. The grits were creamy and good. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and the line was to the door which was a clear sign that they were busy but also the food was good if people were willing to stand in line and wait! As this place is still relatively new, they are experiencing some staffing issues as one of the employees mentioned that they were short staffed and our food took a long time to come out of the kitchen. Despite the long wait for our food, it was served fresh and was really good! The menu offers an interesting take on breakfast items with the biscuits which is pretty cool. I would be willing to visit again on a less busy day or later down the line once they've hired more employees because this place definitely has the potential to be great! read more

My family and I visited Vicious Biscuit on a Saturday around 11:30 a.m., and it was bustling with activity. The line to order stretched all the way to the door, making it a bit of a challenge to get inside. The ordering system is straightforward: you place your order & pay at the counter, receive a number, then find a table and wait for your food to be brought to you. I ordered The Flamethrower and appreciated the soft, fluffy, and moist texture of the biscuit. However, the sandwich had a tangy-sweet flavor, almost like a sloppy Joe or barbecue sauce, that I wasn't a fan of, likely from the Skully Sauce. If I were to order it again, I'd ask for no Skully Sauce. My husband ordered The Fat Boy, and it was absolutely phenomenal! We also loved the impressive condiment bar, and how friendly all of the employees were, which added a nice touch to the overall experience. The meals I have gotten here, such as the Old Skool Breakfast, Bacon Egg & Cheese biscuit (animal farm), munchkin platter, potatoes, and waffle, have been perfectly cooked, tasting fresh and delicious each time. The portions are large. The staff is very sweet and service is excellent! The ambience is welcoming, modern, and clean. The Caffe Macchiatos are also an absolute must! Everything here was good! I have been here twice in the past three months. Everything tasted really good. They have a toppings bar of different butters, jams, purées for your food. They have a small outside area that is clean and open. The service here is great. Everyone is very nice and helpful. The tables and bathrooms were clean as well. I got the grits, pancakes, the begniet balls. I'll include pictures in this review trust me it tastes as good as it looks. We visited on a Sunday around 12 and the line was out the door. The place was packed. Once inside we ordered at the counter and were given a number to put on our table. We found one of the last tables available. Now I did notice some people were grabbing a table first and sending another member to order. I don't think this is fair. You should be required to have a table number before sitting at a table. The food came out in a decent time. I had the shrimp and grits. This was good. I would definitely get this again. My husband had the chicken and waffles, he said it was just okay. I believe his waffle was lukewarm. My daughter had one of breakfast meals that included a biscuit. She enjoyed. Not gross, but not great. If you think you want to call them for any reason, don't bother bc they don't answer the phone, but we showed up anyway. Had to ask off the bat if they served gulf or imported shrimp and if they fry separately as I'm allergic to imported shrimp. If this is you or seafood allergy the answer is imported shrimp but separate fryers. We ordered a lot for two people so I can tell you about a few things. As for drinks my husband got a Diet Coke and the caramel apple seasonal iced coffee which wasn't anything special def not two shots espresso and definitely no apple jam. Not a lot of any specific flavors specified. I got orange juice it comes room temp and you won't get it or the coffee til your food comes so if you are thirsty get a coke. First we had vicious beignets, they were alright but it's like cinnamon cream cheese in the middle wasn't hot as you would think it should've been. Not what I was expecting but alright. My husband ordered the shrimp & grits and he didn't care for the grits he said they were like cheap fake grits but the shrimp were seasoned ok. I got the fat boy and it was ok but would've been better with more hot honey maybe. It was large and the chicken was good which I ended up just eating that and left a lot of biscuit. I hated the candied bacon. It had a chili powder flavor that was off putting and pretty spicy but no sweet heat as you would think with candied bacon. Ordering is a mess, but the food is fabulous. I don't understand ordering bacon and eggs and getting them on two different plates, so with the 3 of us at a table there were dishes everywhere and they need more than one butter and jam area, constantly a line, but the food was so good, maybe they can fix the other problems to make things more efficient, prices are fair also. Let's start with the positives. The food was really good. We got the omelet sub bacon for ham, the old school breakfast and the sweet potato fritters. We liked all the food. Now for the negatives. We were in line for 20 minutes, waiting to order, and it took 45 minutes for food to come out. Mine originally came out wrong and had to be remade. Overall, they need a better system for taking orders, and need to be faster. Will give it another try in a couple of months. read more

Oh biscuits !!!! Finally a brunch spot in Gonzales. When you first walk in you have to order your food from the cashier. Then you will be given a number to place on the card holder at your table. I will say ex-squeeze me they have Freshly squeezed OJ that's right it's squeezed fresh daily per a drink order. At first it's overwhelming to stand there and look at the menu board and try to decide which one of the menu items you want. Everything sounds delicious and you just want to order it all but I can tell you I have had to come back a few times to try out different things. I'm old school so that's exactly what I ordered on my first visit. I also liked that it was just as simple for me to start with just eggs, a protein and some carbs. The Old School Breakfast did have the option to get two pancakes or a biscuit. I had both on two different visits and I prefer the sweet cream pancakes with honey butter no syrup. I also got a cup of Joe that's unlimited refills at your convenience. That's right all you can drink coffee from the walk up condiments bar that has coffee refills, hot water for tea and home made butters and jams. In my opinion the Vicious beignets were a little too sweet for me but having coffee with no sugar added helped with the sweetness. I also prefer the regular bacon vs the vicious bacon that has the sweet honey flavor on it. I also hands down loved the Shrimp and grits. I will say if you want my recommendation for what you should start with I say the shrimp and grits. This menu item is very popular so I suggest that you get there early because they do run out very quickly especially on weekends. The staff and the manager there (I think she's the manager sweet lady) are all super nice and friendly. Geaux get those biscuits and enjoy the atmosphere as it's laid back and no rush but you do have to leave by 3pm. read more
