4/5 stars for this trip. I was in Gonzales at lunch time and looking for something light that I don't get to eat often due to the proximity to my house/work. So I opted to eat here because it's been forever. The food is as good as I remember. Not heavy, fresh, and flavorful. I had the Dixie Chick, broccoli salad on the side. It was served with a pickle spear, wheat club crackers, and a small frosted vanilla cookie. It fell short of 5 stars because of the service. It was just not very attentive or friendly. The young lady taking my order either wasn't listening or paying attention. She did not seem very interested in taking my order. The server dropped off my food at the table without cracking a smile or even much looking at me. In this industry, customer service goes a long way, and it just wasn't very welcoming here. It was also quite empty for lunch time. Here's to hoping they can get their customer service kicked up into high gear and hopefully they are not always this empty. It wasn't a bad trip, but just not a 5 star experience. I would go back because the food is good, but there are a TON of options in the area, so it might be a while before I do. read more

I've seen a few of these chicken salad, chick restaurants during my travels across the country but never stopped. My girlfriend and I decided to grab a quick lunch at this one in Baton Rouge and we're so glad we did! Talk about fresh and tasty ingredients, this place has it in spades. I enjoyed my chicken salad sandwich! I had the Buffalo Barclay bc I was craving something spicy and it definitely hit the spot! The only thing I didn't enjoy was the pickle that come with the sandwich bc it was a sweet pickle and I prefer dill pickles but other than that it was really good! I eat here every couple of months with my family. The service is always good and the food is consistent.

Store was busy so there was a bit of a wait but my classic chicken salad sandwich was delicious. I got the broccoli salad as a side and it was also fantastic. Looking forward to trying some other chicken salad choices!! read more

I have eaten at the D. S. location a few times and was excited Gonzales was getting one. Hubby and I tried this location a few days after it opened. We wanted to try several menu items so our order consisted of 1 scoop each of chicken salad, pimento cheese, broccoli salad and egg salad. When we pulled up to pay we were told it would be $36 for our order. We told them they could keep the food. They said they had made a mistake ringing up order and gave us food for free. We wanted to pay but they insisted we didn't need to. Got home and started eating and we were not impressed. Even if it was free. Everything except broccoli salad just tasted very bland, not much flavor. Fast forward 6 months later I was craving chicken salad and wanted something kind if light so I thought I would give them another shot. Once again, I wanted to try several scoops so I ordered the trio of scoops. The old south c s, spicy pimento cheese and the broccoli salad. Was told at speaker total was $11 and change. Get to the window and was told the total was actually $16 and change. There's an up charge of $2 to order trio. I really don't understand why. The pricing for scoops is confusing. So I said ok. Came home and same thing. Chicken salad is just bland, no flavor. I don't think they use any spices, salt/pepper, etc. The pimento cheese was loaded with jalapeños, excessively so. Once again, the only thing I was happy with was the broccoli salad. So between inconsistencies in order totals and the lack of flavor, I want be giving them a third try. Just sorry that this location is so disappointing. read more
