4.75 is my rating. The customer service is top of the line. Everyone there seems to love their job and they display great energy (gotta love that). The crawfish is a must try and everything I've purchase from them was good. I wish the hours of operation was better on the weekend but they have their reasoning for that. So what do you do when you find yourself in Gonzales and need to eat lunch? I don't know about you, but I consult yelp and look for a review from my good buddy Joel. Thanks to him, I had a pretty good lunch at Tee Wayne's one day. Speaking of Joel, he is dead on about the bread. Tee Wayne's does not use traditional New Orleans style po-boy bread. It's much softer than I am used to, but they still put out a quality product. On this trip I decided to try their ribeye po-boy. The bread was too soft, but what was inside was better than expected. The thinly sliced ribeye remained tender despite being so thin. The addition of cheese and sautéed onions really moved that sandwich to another level. Had it been on traditional bread, it would've been better, but it was still damn good. I also tried their boudin balls. Being a huge fan of boudin, I was a little taken aback when they were served with a side of ranch. But despite my reluctance, I dunked away. It's true what they say; you could dunk a shoe in ranch and it would still be edible. Even without the ranch they were pretty good and I'd recommend them as an appetizer. The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful and made me feel welcome despite obviously being the only non-local in the place. Somebody's brother in law at work must be working at Tee Wayne's because for the longest time we would be getting our lunches from Tee Wayne's and Tee Wayne's only. I just don't get why people would go buck wild over fish and fries, fried in weeks old grease. Their hamburger patties, each of which proudly weighing in at at least a half a pound, resemble hamburger steak instead. Cute little place! This place is close to our house and we've been wanting to give this a try for a while but with their limited hours, it didn't make for an easy trip. They're open Mon-Thurs 11-2 and Friday and Saturday 10-8. Fortunately, it was worth the wait. It's a small restaurant with a southern, swamp feel. You order from the bar and they being the food. I had a club sandwich that tasted pretty good, but I could tell they used the cheese you buy for your kids... I would've preferred an upscale cheese. My fiancé ordered the fried shrimp platter which was delicious, however only came with about 6-8 shrimp and fries. My father in law ordered the boiled crawfish and shrimp which he said were delicious. See the picture for the menu. I had the ribeye poboy special which was perfectly seasoned ribeye, sliced, and fully dressed on delicious french bread. Perfect. Wife had the fried fish basket and she said it was great as well. Picked up a side of boudin balls which were equally as fantastic and came with two different sauces to put on them. Saw numerous sausages and hog head cheese to take home in their cooler which looked great but I didn't get any today. Will save that for next time. Go and check this place. Let me start by saying I'm from Texas. With that said, when I come to Louisiana I try to find the hole in the wall places so that I can get some good Cajun food. Yelp says this was Cajun and it had 4 and a half stars. The shrimp ettouffee and seafood gumbo were mediocre at best. my side salad was probably the smallest side salad you'll ever see. For the nearly $20 that I spent I guarantee I could've gotten better food at a better restaurant. If You were visiting Louisiana I would definitely say skip this place. read more
