I hate chain restaurants, I adore mom and pop places. It has been a minute since I have been able to do a little road trip to find a new place to enjoy the ambiance and flavor. I was not disappointed. The moment we pulled into the parking lot we were treated with vintage vw bugs. A very good omen. The menu is vast and it all sounded so wonderful. As we stood there pondering our choices I couldn't help but notice the cleanliness and the decide. But what instantly drew my attention was the food being handed out. No paper wrap. No styrofoam here. Real plates and real silverware. . But the mountain of mouth watering piping hot onion rings called my attention. The old hippy he decided on the lot o burger with fries. And I had the veal tenderloin with those onion rings. Of course we had to have two frosty mugs of the namesake. Frostop RootBeer. Now I am a patient person and I will wait for fresh hot food to be served. So I didn't notice the amount of time it took. But any wait at all would be well worth it. The food was delicious and took me back to my misspent youth. People I am telling you if you are looking for quality and quantity. This is the place for you. The cost was reasonable. The owners are friendly and patient. But the real reason to make the trip is the food. They are the leader in every category: cleanliness, ambience, quality, taste, customer service, and quirkiness. This place has been standing along time. I hope they stay around a whole lot longer. We will return. read more

Brought my son and two friends here. They all ordered the burger combo and the famous root beer and I ordered the turkey club sandwich. It brought me back to when I was a kid when I tasted that nostalgic root beer. The onion rings were on point and so was the club. The kids did not leave a bite of their hamburgers, so it is safe to say they liked it and it was big enough for three teenage kids. read more

Again I stopped by they were hit bad by Hurricane Ida. But after about a month or 2 they are back and we. Love it. This a Time Capsule of a mom and pop diner food joint, they have all the classics and more. The onion batter is amazing give it try. Know what you want to order before you get to the window they don't have time for you to decide. I like the great service unless your wasting time. I had a delicious veal cutlet in toast dressed. "dressed" is simply lettuce tomato and lite Mayo. Good basic sandwich next time I would add a little mustard for me. Thanks for staying open and coming back. They are not open on Sundays or Mondays dining room currently is closed. Thanks for a great meal. read more

This was an interesting stop, but a good one. We came through not long after the last Hurricane's had hit and nearly missed the place because the Hurricane took out their sign. Happy we were able to find it and stop though, ended up being a really solid lunch. Chas got the "Crawfish Monica Pasta" and I got the "Hamburger Steak Po-Boy". This sandwich was not like any other Po-Boy I had ever had. The burger had a TON of onion flavor (which I love) and was almost shaped into a meatloaf style brick. The roll for the Po-Boy was crusty in all the right spots and soft as well. This was topped with a really delicious hot gravy, but then also came with Mayo, lettuce, tomato, and grilled onion. Truly a blend of hot and cold ingredients on the sandwich, but it all worked so well. If you're worried about getting messy, do NOT order this sandwich. It was a slop show, but it was fanastic. I tried the Crawfish Monica also and that was also very good. Very similar to a cream or béchamel with tons of chunks of crawfish tail. The flavor was good and the portion size was solid. Did I mention they make their own root beer and even have a diet option? I try desperately not to drink my calories so I got the diet and it was really good. We will definitely go back here again! Good for a quick bite, but service is typically on the slow side. Food is average, and the staff are on the rude side.

Just to start the oil was clean the onions rings and fries were perfect cooked. The onion rings have a butter flavor that's out of this world hands down the best I've ever had!!!! I got the Shrimp Dinner that was also fried to perfection!!!! The service was amazing super happy very welcoming!!! Setup like an old 50's diner with all the neon lights!!! read more

Great Bar-B-Q with great tasting side dishes! A must stop, if you are a lover of Bar-B-Q!

My mom and I went to Destrehan today, and decided to stop by Frostop for a delicious old fashioned hamburger and fries. We are originally from Norco and I haven't eaten here since I was a young girl. The food was absolutely delicious, hot and fresh! The French fries were cooked to perfection and OMG the frozen mug of Root Beer, magnificent!!!! We went about 2 pm and the restaurant was busy for to go orders, but we were the only ones in the dining room. The lady and gentlemen taking orders were very nice and polite along with the other workers. The food took about 10 minutes to come out to the table, amazing!! The ambience is like a mom and pop diner and the best thing about dining in was the music. If you love the 50's and 60's...you are in the right place. Fabulous food and fabulous service...thanks again! read more

Awesome!. It reminded me of my childhood. My friend Brenda and I would walk to the Frostop. We always had root beer in a frosted glass, their amazing fries, & a burger. The people are amazing Mary R. read more

Food is always hot and prepared to order. Roast beef is sloppy like most people like it. The burgers are nice sized and taste very good. Don't forget to get a root beer. I have also stopped by to get their banana milk shakes which hits the spot. Service is professional and quick! You will not find a bunch of young people playing on their phones behind the counter. read more

Really some of the best burgers, a drive through would give it a ten. The place is actually an experience, try it

The food is really good everything is made fresh so you have to wait a little bit. The prices are pretty decent also and they make the best milkshakes. read more

It's worth the drive from New Orleans to Laplace! I recommend the butterscotch milkshake and crawfish Monica

Classic hamburger shop good food still though it been around forever. Some of the locations are dated but that just give it character.

I love their shrimp on bun. We received our food quickly, friendly staff, and clean restaurant.

Just like I remember it from when I was a kid! Burgers are fat and juicy, and the sodas are cold and hit just right!

This place is a must!! EAT HERE! The food is delicious, the service is friendly and fast, and it makes you feel like a kid again!! I promise you won't leave hungry! read more

Thank you, fellow Yelpers! We found this random, hole-in-the-wall diner because of you. And it was amazing! My burger was scrumptious and that homemade root beer? I could bathe in it. The fries I could give or take, so next time I'm trying the onion rings. Hubby said the chili burger was awesome and the chili was great on its own. And little man loved his hot dog. ;) Stop here. You won't be disappointed. read more

I'll have to try it again, but the roast beef po-boy I had was lacking in flavor and ... roast beef. They were pretty stingy on the meat. I hear such great things about this place too, so I'll give it another try, but will order something else. read more

Best burgers around. The original frostop is better than the one down the road. Wouldn't recommend anywhere else for a nice juicy burger.

One of the best places to eat a good old fashion hamburger. The root beer is awesome either get a frosted mug or a glass. I prefer the frosted mug. The owners are great and friendly people. read more

The food is incredible. The onion rings and burgers are amazing. One of my favorite places to dine in or take out. Highly recommend

Laplace Frostop Drive In is celebrating 61 years in business on Hwy 61. And I don't doubt that for a bit it is conveniently located in Laplace at 411 E Airline Hwy. The décor allows the simplistic beauty of the food to really shine. There are a few desserts and several shakes to order from the menu. Though I would love to keep Laplace Frostop a secret because of the fresh quality ingredients and high-quality service. I highly recommend visiting the Laplace Frostop read more

Best burgers and fries!!! They're portions are always more that I can eat. NOT like chain food eateries. The food is always great.

I'm not very fond of this place or a fan of the owner. The food is not that great, especially when they serve you old out of date salad dressing. The gravy and onions they serve on the hamburger steak is not appealing. The meat was pretty greasy as well. No free refills, no substitutions on meals and it's cooked his way or no way. The old man that runs the place is a of a stubborn ass. I would drive by this place and eat at Sonic before stopping in. Oh - I dislike sonic food also. read more

This place is AWESOME! Best onion rings I have ever tasted in my whole life. I believe they are hand cut and made fresh to order. The crust on them are flaky yummy goodness and the onion is cooked all the way through. The fries are really good too, I steal some of my sister's fries. ROOT BEER was delicious. I am not usually have a hard time ordering anything other and a coke when dining out. Not here, I tasted my sisters once and I always order root beer now. The root beer is made in house. My usual is a bacon poboy (bacon is always crispy but not burnt, and there is plenty of it) with a side of onion rings and a root beer. Delicious!! read more

On my way to new Orleans to see my mother we stopped in La Place. This place I was told had good and greasy old time hamburgers. You can walk up to the window or go in and dine. They have burgers and poboys. We both got cheeseburgers and fries. They had the norm flat top grilled burgers. You can tell had a seasoned grill. The fries were hot and crispy. All in all it wasn't a bad place to stop for a quick bite. read more

I've never had anything bad here and everything was made better by getting the onion rings as a side. These are the absolute best onion rings in the entire known universe! And the best root beer as well. If you normally order a coke with your lunch take a chance on their home made root beer in a frozen mug! You won't be disappointed. They may not be the fastest of the fast food places (though not slow either) but your food isn't made until you order and it's fresh! Another plus. Try 'em, you'll like 'em. :) read more

The onion rings were good, the burger was just another mass produced patty, the old man was grumpy AF. I had high hopes for this place- went by there a few times but they weren't open (11am-6pm, Tuesday-Saturday) huh? Anyway, just another run of the mill burger joint, in my opinion read more

I stopped in after seeing an Great Places to eat segment in PBS. I remember drinking Root Beer as a child and remember having see to concentrated root beer mix in stores recently. In the segment, they featured the hamburger, onion rings, and root beer drink special. So, I had it. The burger was the usual, but the onion rings were better than I expected. They weren't salty, but rather buttery, which I liked. I ate a big pile of them. Oh, the root beer, well, I remember what it tasted like. the drink was good and served in a frosty mug. read more
