I love this place! It's definitely frozen patties but they make them taste great. I get the chili burger with cheddar and it's delicious. The bread is super fresh, the mayo/mustard mix is my favorite, the chocolate malt is sooo good. Root beer is made by them and it's really yummy too. Root beer is by far the best I've tasted as well. Environment...sticky, bustling, and tight. Arrive early and not in the middle of lunch hour as table seating will be tight or tough to find. This is my son's favorite burger of all time. For good old fashioned grilled burger, fries and a creamy milkshake or homemade frothy root beer, this is the place. Excellent thin patty burgers. My favorite is the original Lot-O-Burger with American cheese dressed normal. On occasion I will get my onions grilled. I find Buddy's to be the best of the area Frostop's that are still operating. I'm only sad that I don't live next door. LOL read more

I ate at Frostop tonight and had a 5/5 experience. I have been here several times, but I guess this is the first time I noticed how great it is-- enough to make me Yelp them! My food was hot, fries freshly fried, mugs icy cold. The impressive part was the employees though. There were 2 women and 3 men tonight (Fri 1/17/20) and they all had smiles the whole time. You can tell they make the most of their night working together. The best part is they constantly used hand sanitizer and were wiping off tables often. There must be a less dog-like description than "Yelper". Back to the business at hand, I was surprised to read in the TP several weeks ago that Frostop was/is local institution and had been around for decades. I've driven by a couple of them regularly since I moved here and never had the urge to eat at one. Coincidentally, I was dragged kicking and screaming to the Destrehan outlet for lunch about a week after the article in the paper. Kicking and screaming might be an exaggeration. They were driving and buying - it was the best offer I had that day. I've since been there a second time of my own free will, so, obviously, it can't be that bad. No pretensions of grandeur here. A functional box with a grill, table, chairs and condiments. Clean, dated, worn decor. I was trying to place the style - how about this - a bad seventies rendition of a 50's sock-hop kind of thing. Decent cheap hamburger meal, good fries and, as I understand it, world famous frosty root beer. Not in the same league as any of the local gourmet burger places but fast, cheap and definitely NOT MacDonald's. I've also had the sausage burger which was edible. They do a big lunch business quickly and efficiently. Get in line, order your food and wait for them to call your number. It was $7 even for the "Lot A Burger" meal. My husband and I went to get dinner here on 10/18/17. We pulled in the parking lot at 8:33 pm and proceeded to walk in. As soon as I walked in I heard an employee say " we have customers" another employee who looked to be the manager shouted" WHAT??" She then came to the counter and took our order. Good thing my husband and I knew what we wanted because she rushed through our order! We paid and got our drinks and sat down. There was a family of 3 ahead of us waiting for their food. Once their number is called the father stood up and went to pick up his order. This gentleman looked to be hearing impaired and the " manager" yelled at him asking " what sauce do you want? He couldn't understand so his son walked to the counter. She yelled at him the same question.. do you want bbq, honey mustard etc for your CHICKEN TENDERS. First of all you don't have to yell at your customers, just make sure you speak clearly. Then our order was called and my husband went to go get it. The entire time we were eating our dinner all I heard from the kitchen was" this fryer is turned off" and hopefully it won't have to be turned on" this comment in particular was said with so much sarcasm it wasn't funny!!! Everything else was just I'm ready to go, almost time to lock the door etc. Then what really set me off the manager proceeded to lock the door at 8:42 so no new customer found come in. I'm sorry but if your sign says you close at 9 why exactly are you locking your doors at 8:42!!!! The manager was extremely RUDE when we tried to use a legitimate Local Flavor offer. Loudly stated it needed to be printed when it DID NOT state that anywhere. I told her that's not our fault, and we would like to use the certificate we purchased. I've been to this establishment on numerous occasions and each time I've been, I tell myself I am never going back. EVERY TIME I order, the employees start cleaning the overhead vents while my food is being prepared. The last time I went with my family (which will truly be THE LAST TIME) they not only started cleaning the overhead vents but started sweeping the dirty, dusty floor all around us, started moving tables and chairs like we weren't even there and shook the entrance mat next to our table. All of this was going on while we were eating. We had to stop and throw our food away. The manager with the cowboy hat didn't even stop them. It was truly disgusting. We stop here for lunch at work all the time. High praises for the catfish on bun; probably the best thing they have. New & clean facility, a little hard to find. Good service.
