Chargrilled Oysters With a loaf of Cheese Garlic bread

Special shoutout to one of the staff members Mike, he went above and beyond, offering incredible recommendations and taking exceptional care of our table. Every detail was perfection. We began our evening with the phenomenal oysters and a classic Caesar salad, followed by an entree of truly spectacular steak--easily one of the best I've ever tasted. I can't wait to come back and eat my way through the rest of the menu. Hands down, a 10/10!

A New Orleans classic brought back to life on Veterans Boulevard in Metairie. The restaurant is located where the old Daquiri and Creams used to be. I do recommend a reservation because it was pretty busy on a Saturday evening. We sat at the bar while we waited for our table to be set up. My mother wanted a chocolate martini, and the bartender went above and beyond to make one for her and she loved it. Once we were seated, our waiter was absolutely amazing. He was so friendly and it was nice to meet a fellow local resident and reminisce about the old days. For the appetizers, we had the stuffed artichoke, crab dip, dipping bread, and the crabcakes. My favorites were the stuffed artichoke and the crab dip. For my meal I had the shrimp Sochi which was ok. When I come back I will definitely try the steak.

So our wildest dreams came true and we have a new location of Craxy Johnnie's! They have been crazy busy so the service has been about as good as can be expected with such crazy hungry crowds. The ambiance of the new joint just isn't as comfortable as the old spot as it is far more of a modern industrial vibe mixed with the old daquiri bar energy that used to be here. Crazy Johnnie's has some nice filet mignon and prime rib po boys for lunch and always good steaks. They really used to offer a lot of value for what you got but the new location is about market rate these days so it is more expensive. The only big "beef" I have with them is that I would say they have some work to do on their menu items outside the steak and their filet mignon poboy. I tried the burger and it just wasn't very good. I tried the crawfish etouffee and many of the vegetables were raw or undercooked. I tried the gumbo and it was the worst gumbo I've ever had in Louisiana. Most of these issues can likely be attributed to the fact that they have been slammed since their initial recent opening. I think the old advice of waiting about six months to let a restaurant break in is a good suggestion. Now all the steak items are fantastic so you can certainly get those. The crazy potatoes are some very good examples of how to do some tasty things with potatoes. I'm also a big fan of their steak sauce and have been known to even put it on my crazy potatoes. They also offer seafood and other changing options. You generally get good service but not as good as you did at the original. I've been for both lunch and dinner and both have been jam packed so hopefully things normalize over the next few months to give them some breathing room to catch up. Overall I would say for now just get a steak or the filet poboy.

Best food around. Come on back to this place. It's was great before and now even better. Matthew was the best server.

So glad to see Crazy Johnnie's finally reopen! We started with the signature dipping bread, then enjoyed the Prime Rib and the Redfish topped with their delicious house-made sauce--everything was full of flavor and cooked just right. The atmosphere is welcoming to all. With seating inside and outside.

Dipping sauce. needs to be half that sauce or more bread. One or the other.

I want this place to do well. It has been a long time coming for this restaurant to come back and I don't want to come here and bash them. There does need to be a few little changes so I have some constructive criticism for that. We came here during lunch a couple of months ago. It was not packed. We were handed paper menus with a limited selection to choose from -- which I think is the way to go! I think gradually adding items to the menu as the chef works through the trials/errors is a good approach instead of having a huge, overwhelming menu. Now with that being said, after we ordered our food and had it delivered, the people next to us had ordered a ribeye, which was not on our menu - and what my husband prefers to eat steak-wise. Our menu had the filet on it - which I prefer so I happy at least. I did let the waitress know and although she didn't let us know she was correcting the issue, I did see her talk to the hostess and see the hostess sifting through her stack of paper menus at the podium. Back to the food. We ordered the dipping bread for apps. So, this needs to be worked on for sure. You get 7 pieces of bread for - essentially - a bowl of dip. I am sure the point is to use it as a dip for your sandwich, but it is honestly a waste. Either shrink the bowl of dip or bring more bread. Another idea if is to sell it as a side of sauce for the poboy if that was really the reason behind the giant bowl. The Crazy potatoes are not quite as good as they were in the 90s. But I know yall are working on that. They were still tasty. The poboy was good, but I thought it was odd that the waitress did not ask us how we wanted our steak cooked? I should have asked and maybe the reason is simple - they are all cooked medium for the poboy because it's on a poboy and that's how they did it before or maybe it was to limit added stuff for the chef. I don't know but it wasn't really that bad. I do like the new clean space and some outside seating. The parking lot is on the smaller size, as is the restaurant. There are both ramps and stairs. Also, a somewhat long bar if you wanted drinks, plus TVs. I want this place to succeed! Keep moving forward, we are rooting for you!

What can I say? Welcome back! Crazy Johnny's if you've never been before. It's a fresh new experience and if you have it's the same. I've actually come here twice. The first time was just okay. The second time was a drastic improvement I believe since the crowds died down. They were able to focus more on the flavor and a good way. The steak is tender and the potatoes were delicious and I really enjoyed the sandwich. The first time was just okay with that. Second time was the chef's kiss. Nothing will taste the same as it did probably 10 years ago. I don't even remember but it sure is close. The ambiance Is upgrade 100%. It's a very nice modern setting that you can't help but enjoy. I'll definitely give it another. Try to try some other items on the menu and hopefully I can have enough room for dessert this time.

I was so excited to go here with my family after seeing all the social media hype. The food looked amazing in these local food influencers videos when they went to the opening event. Sadly the food didn't live up to the hype and I won't be going back. The theak poboy I got was really disappointing and that was our reason for going. Hopefully you all have a better experience than me but I have included a side by side picture of the same steak poboy I got vs what was posted on instagram.

What a trip back in time but in a modern, updated experience. I hadn't eaten here since the early 2000s and was sad to learn about its demise in 2014. But like many locals I was surprised to hear about a proposed comeback and grand opening so you know I had to go and try it. I went for lunch on Sunday with a limited menu starting with a cup of seafood gumbo, and then the filet mignon sandwich with a side of Crazy Potatoes. Everything was on point with seasonings and flavor. Service and wait time was excellent for a place that just opened so I can only see it getting better as everyone hits their stride. The restaurant is very modern, brightly lit and very clean. Will be back frequently.

Food was just okay, but the noise level was horrible. No acoustics to blunt the noise. We could hardly wait to finish our meal and leave.

Im pretty sure its actually purple food coloring and not actual ube, the only reason why I'm not placing a 1 star is because the first time I bought a cake from this place, it was actually good (some coffee cake). This bakery made decent cakes till I tried YOUR UBE CAKE. If you want to copy trends and mix asian culture into your goods, then DO IT PROPERLY, or at least research on how to make ube. Try making ube jam instead and place it in the cake, that would taste WAY better. Also the yellow icy part inside the cake would've been delightful if it was cheese and not some random yellow piss ice. Ube is commonly topped with cheese, this bakery really missed the opportunity to actually be culturally on point. So much for Ube getting mainstream if none of these businesses get it right anyway. They always mess up asian cuisines and culture by making their "own version". Dont disrespect our ube broski (I can feel/taste the ube on the paste but it just isnt enough, it needs more) (update, i take it back. Tried it in the morning where it wasn't as cold. It was actually soft and spongy, the ube taste was stronger and it was quite delectable. Keep up the good work, i see room for improvement though)

I picked: a large fluffy maple roll. The outside reminded me of a croissant in the best way with some mild maple sweetness and the inside was moist, pillowy, and rich. I heated it up in the oven next day which made it even better. A square coconut roll... crisp and flaky on the outside with the most delightful sweet coconut cream inside and flaked almonds on top. This was my favorite. Will get multiple next time. And a pair of taro rolls. These I was most excited for as I love taro, and they weren't bad at all, but were probably my least favorite of the 3, purely because they had an eggy aftertaste. They weren't overly sweet with a nice smooth taro filling. I also tried a taro milk tea with soy milk. These normally include lavender too, but I asked for mine without. The flavor was off the charts good. Strangely it was nothing like the usual taro drinks I've tried and I couldn't place what I was tasting, but it was rich and creamy and so satisfying. Only thing that bummed me out was that I ordered boba and there wasn't any. :(
