Service was excellent. Place was clean and well-organized. There is outdoor seating available. We found the food to be too expensive for what it was. I think it needs a stronger seasoning. The portion sizes were huge though. Overall, it's an okay place.

I went with my friend for taco Tuesday (02/03/2026). We wasn't properly seated, given a menu , cutlery or anything. We were told to pick any table to the right of us. The host was nonchalant and didn't look like she cared at all. The tables were dirty with stuck food and crumbs on them. We were approached by a young man who actually looked like a customer lol. No apron, barely a uniform, and nothing to write orders with. Everything we asked for was completely wrong and the food was cold and soggy. It took him 3 times to actually get it right and still forgot the guacamole. On top of that, he kept giving us old chips ... saying that was apart of the Mardi Gras theme and yet every other table had fresh chips. We had a batch of brown burnt chips(I couldn't get a pic before he brung us this batch with mixed old bits) It was a bad experience but least the margarita was good I guess. To say this is a new location, you would think they would be on top of everything but no! Sadly we will not come back.. we'll try the original location when it's done renovating..

Customer service and food were both horrible. $16 for birria tacos was insane. With no side of chips rice or anything. I see why the were not busy on a "taco Tuesday." A worker was in there trending to another workers baby. I waited 10 mins for someone to reach me my food that was sitting on the shelf. Definitely won't recommend

The price was a little steep for a self service restaurant. The food was okay though.

A few years ago I had been to La Tia in Metairie, and it left a serious impression. What stuck with me most were the craft cocktails...creative, clever, and a little bit mischievous. I still remember one in particular: a Mexican-inspired cocktail with mezcal and beet juice that somehow managed to taste like summer decided to take a vacation south of the border. It was the kind of drink that makes you pause mid-sip and say, "Okay... whoever thought of this deserves a raise." Somehow the place drifted off my radar over time. But when the craving for Mexican food hit, it popped right back into my head. I was excited to bring my son and daughter-in-law since they had never been. Unfortunately... the reunion didn't exactly go as planned. Two things hit me immediately while looking over the menu. First: the craft cocktails were gone. Not "different." Not "updated." Just... gone. Replaced with the same drinks you see in every other Mexican restaurant. Second: the prices nearly made me spit out the water I hadn't even ordered yet. $6 for a Corona. $18 for a basic burrito with fries. $10 for a kids plate over chicken tenders and some fries. And not the old La Tia burritos either...the ones I remembered piled high with rich molé, bright verde sauces, and layers of flavor that made you wonder if you should be taking notes. Nope. Now we're talking about a plain flour tortilla with some ground meat inside, no sauce, and a side of what looked suspiciously like freezer-aisle French fries. For eighteen dollars. My daughter-in-law ordered the fajitas, and honestly... they were rough. Thin strips of overcooked meat that looked like they had taken a brief vacation in a plastic bag before hitting the grill...served on a plate. Lately I've gotten into the habit of pulling up Yelp photos to compare dishes from past years, and I did exactly that. I found a photo of the same fajitas from about three years ago...big, juicy steak pieces, sizzling on cast iron and full of life. What we got looked like it came from a completely different restaurant. To be fair, my shrimp tacos were actually pretty good. Nicely cooked shrimp, decent flavor, and probably the lone bright spot of the night. But overall, it felt like the La Tia I loved had quietly packed up and left the building. The elevated Mexican food? Gone. The rich sauces? Gone. The inventive cocktails that made the bar worth sitting at? Also gone. In their place: food that feels pulled from a bag... at prices that feel pulled from a luxury menu. It's a tough thing when a restaurant you once loved loses its spark. But sadly, this visit felt less like a reunion and more like running into an old friend who has completely changed--and not for the better. As much as I hate to say it, I don't see myself returning to La Tia anytime soon. Turns out the only thing that stayed spicy... was the price tag.

Decided to sit at the bar so I can get in and out quickly and have a little margarita. My server/bartender wasn't very attentive at all. I had to get his attention a few times for service because he was in his whole the whole time. I ordered a margarita that to me was okay, but it tasted much better after I asked to have a flavor added to it. I think it was hibiscus. I only got 2 tacos. The fish and shrimp. The fish was a little bland for my taste but the sauces and add ons saved it. This was an okay experience, I'm writing this place off. I plan to give them another shot and try some of their other menu items.

How do you categorize a restaurant that offers a full menu of Mexican food, a full menu of Italian food, a full menu of local fare and American classics, AND why not throw a little Asian food in as well. Now, do all of it VERY WELL, and you have quite the conundrum when you sit down to eat. "What am I in the mood for?" Luckily, you can mix and match to your heart's desire. Garbage nachos and Thai ribs? Sure! Chicken alfredo with a couple of tamales? No prob. A good steak with a Cuban quesadilla? Why not? The possibilities are endless. Now, mix in some killer drinks, and we're talking about somewhere you'll want to bring all your friends who can't decide what they want. It's all there for them, and if they can't find something at Blue Tomato, you might want to reconsider your friends. The service staff at BT is wonderful and homey. I always feel like a local when I eat there. It's comfortable and quaint whether you're eating seared tuna with a margarita or a batch of wings with a Mic Ultra. Lunch is actually my favorite time to visit. Quick service and reasonable prices make this a lunch destination. You might need to ensure you have a refrigerator at work though...the serving portions are generous. So, what are you waiting for? Is it lunchtime yet?

The menu certainly goes all over the map with its dishes and that seems to leave some less than excellent execution but generally they pull off "ok" to "very good" food. The service here always seems to be very good and the ambiance is a unique mix that gives it a fun vibe. The burger and lasagna are decent and the Italian and Mexican style food can often be quite nice. The New Orleans food is typically good and they usually have rotating daily specials. Overall this is great spot when you have a group of people that all want something different. Warren Zevon would really enjoy this place!

It's amazing!! It tastes SO good, I'm sure it's super bad for you with tons of seasonings and butter, but you'll be addicted. Our table kept asking for more and more servings throughout the meal! Now, you could buy the popcorn to take home with you, but at $8 a bag, you'd be better off just eating it there. I also really loved their queso ($9). I'd say it's a bit overpriced, but it's not made with the crappy kind of queso that you'd get from Chipotle and it's truly delish. It's creamy, but with a rich cheesy flavor you can only get from good quality real cheese. Served with roasted poblano (a kind of non-spicy pepper), onion, and corn. I had the chicken tinga tacos ($9). This was good! The chicken was well-seasoned and flavorful. It comes with only 2 tacos though and nothing else, which brings it to $4.50 per taco. I think for the price, it could be 3 tacos... You can add a side order of rice and beans (+$3), but honestly, that was disappointing. The rice was plain white rice and the beans were unseasoned. Their breakfast menu is where it's at, I think! It's pretty cheap considering the location uptown. Each dish is around $10 give or take a few bucks and seems to come with a good portion of food. This is what I'd try next time I'm there!
