Margaritas!

Every thing from food, drinks and employees! Best margaritas, the shrimp quesadillas with added spinach Alfredo sauce always!

Danielle K.

I love this place and they never fail to provide a good meal whether it's from their Mexican side of the menu or the Italian. Their margaritas are to die for and are often on a special. I've noticed the freshness and good quality of the fish in their dishes and am always satisfied with the bean dip and other parts of the appetizer menu. I definitely want to try more items on the menu but I've never taken someone here who didn't love it.

This is my wife's chicken chimichanga with rice and beans. It was good. If you want it crispy, ask for the sauce on the side.

It's been well over 10 years since I've been here. I used to come often and it was always busy and good. I was getting tired of the same old same old so the wife and I went to eat. She's never been. She's from the Westbank. The crazy thing about this place is that they offer Italian and Mexican food all the time and they do them both incredibly well. We were craving Mexican. We started with chips and salsa. The chips were freshly fried and hot! I had the 3 enchilada plate with rice and beans. I went with one of each chicken , pork and ground beef. The ground beef was awesome. I wished I'd gotten 3 of them. There's a faint hint of cinnamon I've tasted in Mexican cuisine before and it was really good. Then I tried the pork. Wow!! It was better than the beef. I wished I'd gotten 2 pork and 2 beef now. The chicken was just ok. The last 2 were hard acts to follow. The tables are few but well spaced. I'll go Italian next time and be sure to update. Give this place a try , you won't be disappointed.

Chips and salsa

Have passed this place hundreds of times and finally decided to give it a try. The menu is widespread with Mexican, BBQ, hamburgers and Italian food. My wife decided to try the shrimp tacos and I ordered the fish tacos. Wow! Both of them were excellent. They both came with rice and beans, which were mediocre. That's okay, the tacos made up for it. The service was great and attentive. We will definitely be back.

Garbage can nachos
Mitchell J.

Got the garbage can nachos togo and they sucked. The chips literally had no crunch. They were soggy! I live about .25 miles from the restaurant so It's not like the food sat a long time. I'd recommend not getting the nachos or just getting them at the restaurant.

Best ribs in town. Great service. Everything is delicious. Quirky environment because it's in an old Time Saver but well worth it

Very good food. Sometimes they are rushed but it's worth the wait. The Mexican, or the Mediterranean are all very delicious.

They were out of EVERYTHING when I was there. Their fish tacos were DISGUSTING. But the servers were very nice.

Quite simply the best Mexican food I've EVER had in 45 years…read more 10/10 flavor 10/10 Service

A few years ago I had been to La Tia in Metairie, and it left a serious impression. What stuck with me most were the craft cocktails...creative, clever, and a little bit mischievous. I still remember one in particular: a Mexican-inspired cocktail with mezcal and beet juice that somehow managed to taste like summer decided to take a vacation south of the border. It was the kind of drink that makes you pause mid-sip and say, "Okay... whoever thought of this deserves a raise." Somehow the place drifted off my radar over time. But when the craving for Mexican food hit, it popped right back into my head. I was excited to bring my son and daughter-in-law since they had never been. Unfortunately... the reunion didn't exactly go as planned. Two things hit me immediately while looking over the menu. First: the craft cocktails were gone. Not "different." Not "updated." Just... gone. Replaced with the same drinks you see in every other Mexican restaurant. Second: the prices nearly made me spit out the water I hadn't even ordered yet. $6 for a Corona. $18 for a basic burrito with fries. $10 for a kids plate over chicken tenders and some fries. And not the old La Tia burritos either...the ones I remembered piled high with rich molé, bright verde sauces, and layers of flavor that made you wonder if you should be taking notes. Nope. Now we're talking about a plain flour tortilla with some ground meat inside, no sauce, and a side of what looked suspiciously like freezer-aisle French fries. For eighteen dollars. My daughter-in-law ordered the fajitas, and honestly... they were rough. Thin strips of overcooked meat that looked like they had taken a brief vacation in a plastic bag before hitting the grill...served on a plate. Lately I've gotten into the habit of pulling up Yelp photos to compare dishes from past years, and I did exactly that. I found a photo of the same fajitas from about three years ago...big, juicy steak pieces, sizzling on cast iron and full of life. What we got looked like it came from a completely different restaurant. To be fair, my shrimp tacos were actually pretty good. Nicely cooked shrimp, decent flavor, and probably the lone bright spot of the night. But overall, it felt like the La Tia I loved had quietly packed up and left the building. The elevated Mexican food? Gone. The rich sauces? Gone. The inventive cocktails that made the bar worth sitting at? Also gone. In their place: food that feels pulled from a bag... at prices that feel pulled from a luxury menu. It's a tough thing when a restaurant you once loved loses its spark. But sadly, this visit felt less like a reunion and more like running into an old friend who has completely changed--and not for the better. As much as I hate to say it, I don't see myself returning to La Tia anytime soon. Turns out the only thing that stayed spicy... was the price tag.

I have been plenty of times for tacos and beer on their Tuesday special, but today I went for a…read morefair shake at a full meal. Sat down immediately, they had the football games on tv and the outside area was jam packed with kids at a family event. I also never took a chance to admire the wall art, the flowers were a standout. I did notice a lot of tables were pretty dirty and could use a wipe down; I also noticed our table wasn't exactly sparkling either. The waitress basically told us she was burnt out - she was human and down to earth. Spoiler: she was excellent! Chips and salsa came out. Worth noting the first one had a sweeter taste and the second had a spicier taste. Some may call this inconsistent, but I saw it as a sign that it's homemade. Additionally we ordered a SMALL guacamole, and the small is massive. Tasty, full bodied, my only gripe is that I wish it was a bit chunkier on the avocado end. I ordered the smoked chicken smothered burrito and this thing was gigantic. Partner ordered poblanos with smoked pork. Both dishes are a super generous portion and delicious. Big thing here: I think between the meats and the smoked pinto beans it's worth noting that it blurs the line between its own identity and its sister restaurant of CCBBQ. This is NOT a bad thing, as the smokier flavor profile gives this Tex-Mex a unique angle. May I suggest a smoked salsa of sorts?? Only real miss was that we ordered a side of street corn; while it looked the part and was totally loaded up, it was utterly bland. Tough to accomplish this with street corn, I'm curious what could have gone wrong especially given that it looked beautiful. Two sodas, an appetizer, two entrees, and a bonus side dish came out to $59. I find this to be right on par! I will admit, the alcohol is way overpriced, I've noticed from my other visits. I only drink when it's taco Tuesday/happy hour. But for the price of a non-alcoholic, FULL course lunch, it's perfect. Been back before, and I'll be back again. Great job LC.

We will be back. The lunch menu is a real deal with our selections today costing $10 each.

Spending so much time in New York, I've probably had better, but the food here is still good. This is a small chain (NOLA, Metairie, Baton Rouge, West Palm Beach), outfitted with neon, murals, and pink flowers. The menus are high tech and light up when you open them. We started with the queso fundido, with melted mozzarella, chorizo, pico de gallo, and microgreens. Comes with corn or flour tortillas. It was cheesy and tasted great. They also provide chips and a flight of three salsas. Salsas all had completely different flavors and spice levels, so I enjoyed that. Other options are guacamole (with or without short rib), plain queso dip, short rib bites, and oysters rockefeller. Selections include various tacos. I had the birria tacos, which are served in a dramatic fashion, hanging from a line over the tray, which contained the consomme, salsas, rice, and refried beans. They were juicy and savory and the accompaniments hit the spot. Though I've probably had better birria elsewhere . . . not sure you'll find any better or authentic anywhere in New Orleans. My husband had the fish tacos (ensenada), crispy and covered in cilantro, payo, pickled cabbage, avocado, and pico de gallo. The fish was light and the pickled slaw added just the right amount of brightness and acidity. They also have mushroom tacos, chicken, bone marrow wagyu, carnitas, shrimp, and more. They serve larger main dishes including fajitas, carne asada, barbacoa, burritos, enchiladas, and more. They have a great drink menu with the expected margaritas and mezcal as well as some fancy specialty drinks. I has the Hasta el Agua Del Florero, which is vodka, bombay, lemon juice, pineapple juice, and watermelon syrup. It was good, but also 20 dollars. The margaritas of course come a little cheaper at 13 bucks and are decent. Some people complained about service. It wasn't busy when we stopped in, but our server stayed on top of things, the table was always bussed, he kept checking to make sure everything was to our liking. We had no server issues at all. Not sure this would be the top of my list to try of all the choices in New Orleans, but not a bad choice if you're in the mood for a Taco Tuesday or some Mexican chow.
