I've visited all the locations of Taqueria Corona and I most often visit the location on Magazine Street in New Orleans while I visit this location in Harahan the least simply as a matter of logistics. The food at all the locations of Taqueria Corona taste consistently good and the service is also typically very attentive. During the pandemic lockdowns I ended up visiting this location in Harahan more frequently than I ever had before so I really got my Taqueria Corona on... A quaint location in a nondescript strip mall, but don't let that deter you from a most enjoyable experience. The food was full of flavor and cooked perfectly. The best thing about the food here was the flauta which had a flour tortilla, something that is rare. The rest of the food was just "OK." The waitress was really sweet, but the food was not that great. One of the things on the combination dinner I ordered was a "chicken burrito." When I went to eat it, it was filled with chicken and black beans and that is a combination that is completely contradictory, it tasted very strange. She asked us if we wanted "hot sauce," and I thought she was talking about Tabasco, but that's what they call their "salsa." They weren't even sauces. They have a "habanero sauce" and some other black sauce that I can't remember the name, but it was completely gross, and then there was a jalapeño "sauce." The tacos don't come with cheese and lettuce like a traditional "American" taco. You have to order an "American Taco" for that. One of the reviews I saw said "this was a disaster," and I should've listened but we've eaten at the one on Severn several times and it was always great but this place seemed to have a different menu (maybe this was a post-pandemic menu, who knows). Maybe we are just ignorant Americans who don't know much about "authentic" Mexican food ‍ Bottom line is our meal was NOT worth 60 bucks! Patrons beware! read more

I'm glad this place has never used it's English translation as it's name. The Taco King would make people think of Taco Bell and Burger King and that's just a really shitty combo. I prefer to think of it as the Taco Mexican beer with lime. (see that was a Corona joke). None of that really matters. The thing that matters is this is my favorite place for a taco. Yes I have gotten loceaux with the taceaux truck, but The Taco King's carne asada taco is unreal good and unreal simple. It's just pieces of steak with the perfect chargrilled flavor with grilled green onions. That's it! They also grill the tortilla which makes a ton of difference. Yes it comes with a side of salsa and sour cream in case you yahoo's want to ruin it. They have other taco's as well, about 10 different kind including charizo and cow tongue! I've had the quesidillas and guacamole too and both are solid. The Magazine Street location has more charm. They even have a thrown in the men's restroom for the Taco King. I usually find myself at this location however for convenience. I usually order to go but sometimesI sit at the bar and drink a cervaza. I always want to reenact that scene in Desperado where Tarantino tells the bar keep his beer taste like piss and the barkeep says cuz we piss in it! But I'm afraid they would and then I wouldn't like it anymore, so I dont. How's that for a run on sentence. Anyway. In conclusion, solid tacos, small place, big flavor. read more

Strange middle ground here. The food tastes great no doubt, the servers are absolutely friendly. The interior is simple, a little hot on the inside but the place is quite small with the kitchen and lines taking up a good bit of the shared open space inside. Additionally, the price point is fair. I find it very nice to be able to see your food being prepared, however there is a duality in this as you can see their reliance on the two microwaves in the kitchen. For example, I got a chicken quesadilla; I figure this is simple and quick. I see them pop my quesadilla in the microwave first, then move it to a griddle to crisp up. It is then cut and served with the commonplace: salsa, sour cream, and guacamole. Now I'm a firm believer in "if it gets the job done, then it gets the job done". So how was this microwaved & griddled quesadilla? Solid! I enjoyed it. Now, the salsa it was served with was quite bad and not house made at all. Sour cream was standard fare, but the guacamole truly tasted house made and was excellent. Now, when I saw plastic containers of to-go queso being microwaved on my way out, this truly made me concerned for the safety of their to-go orders. However, in my experience, dining in is quite OK here. Very middle of the road, affordable, mediocre, decent but still nothing special mexican food. We've been to another Taqueria Corona and this was a bit different. In general, it was just OK. The food was good, the drinks too. The service was fast and the staff is friendly. Quality-wise I feel it wasn't as good as the other taqueria corona. The rib-eye tacos were kinda dry and the shrimp tacos were too soggy. The cheese in the enchilada was REALLY delicious! The rice and beans were also not-so-fresh but overall the food was ok. We also had drinks. They don't have much variety of margaritas so I was kind of disappointed. Servers are friendly. read more

Amazing service and food. I had only been to the branch in metarier prior and it was a mediocre store so I wasnt expecting much here. But i was so wrong! The waitress was amazing (funny and was able to predict what we needed before we even asked for it) I wish i got her name to give her a shout out. I ordered 3 tacos - fish, carne asada and lengua. Taqueria Corona is a wonderfully consistent and reasonably priced little chain of authentic Mexican restaurants (not Tex-Mex). I have been to all three location over the years and each time the food is delicious and almost exactly the same level of yumminess. I love the cebollitos, the tacos, and if you are really hungry the California burritos are HUGE!! The Combo platters are more food than I can consume so I usually just order a la carte. Although the space is small, and the tables are all really close, the food was pretty good. The staff was very friendly. If you are close, it's worth a try. It sounded like a frat party in there while taqueria corona was shutting down. Next time I'm trying the place next store, because a plate with no rice and "double beans" really sucks. I should have gone with my intuition. For the amount of time I waited, they could have made rice. Like lunch today at another place. $1 for cheese, $1 for sweet potato fries, $9.50 for fried green tomatoes, and $10 for a sandwich that has half the plate covered in fries. Horrible service, asked for a drink menu because the food menu referred me to it for the tequila list. I was told their was not one. Even though once I got my food she handed it to me. Asked for salsa, was told they have none. Only picante, fine. Got queso and it was heated up in the microwave, it's just cheese not a huge deal. Great little hole-in-the-wall location for Taqueria Corona. I've been to this one more in recent years than the Metairie or Uptown locations and it's always been solid if not "OMG" good. The cebollitas (grilled green onions) are a different kind of light appetizer treat which I don't think I've seen anywhere else. I ordered two tacos last visit, tongue and pork. The tongue was good, it's a different beefy texture that might not be up everyone's alley; the pork was grilled and chopped and absolutely fabulous. Portions were huge, there seemed to be 1/3 pound of meat on each one. My friends love the Mexican Pizza and swear by the fish taco, which I'll probably try next time. Biggest downside for me compared to other places is a lack of a condiment bar to customize your meal, as the tacos were served only with pico de gallo on them. read more

I've been a fan of the Magazine st location for years and absolutely love it. This location is equally good as the others. The fish tacos (battered fried version) are where it's at. Best fish tacos in the city hands down. I order at least one fish taco every time I come here. This visit I got the fish taco and a chorizo taco both were delicious. The tacos are always over flowing with meats/fish and toppings. In addition to the food being legit AF, the food is extremely consistent across all locations. Great lunch spot. You may have to wait for a table, because this small space fills up quickly, but it's worth it. Get the California Burrito, but save half for the next day. It's a great value, since it's a huge meal - enough for 2 - and it's cheap! Service isn't always the friendliest, but that's because they are trying to move you in & out as quickly as possible to seat the next group. Taqueria Corona is definitely a place where you can have variable experiences. It varies from location to location - I cannot stand the Magazine street location but have had many good meals at this Harahan outpost. Your experience will also completely depend on how well you order - as some dishes are simply not good while others shine. HOWEVER, if you stick to a couple of strong dishes you will enjoy it. Simply put - get the fish taco and the tounge taco. Both are excellent - particularly the delicious fried fish (reminds me of baja). Carne asada if you want some comfort steak. Load the tacos up with the fiery red salsa (you may have to ask for this but its free). Flautas are fine if you are feeling indulgent. Avoid a lot of the other stuff on the menu. Chicken and pork tacos are bland and served with a runny pico that disintegrates your tortilla on contact - meh. Burritos and salads are totally middle of the road. read more

I do not get the $2 street taco that is on sale for Taco Tuesday.. oh no baby I get the original it is PACKED with meat and is worth the extra buck fifty.
