    Hard tacos, generously filled.

Last two visits the chicken fajitas were skimpy, not seasoned and not cooked well. Husband didn't enjoy them and left a bit hungry. It's a shame because this was his go to chicken fajitas place. Management recently changed so this is a result I guess. Great employees, they are all friendly and we will still come for the cheese dip & tacos.

No wonder this place has 3 stars. I came here with my brother and holy smokes the service was trash. I would have had a better experience at Chipotle. The server was a dingleberry and it took forever to be serviced. 30 min wait on food 30 min wait for some water. They also took forever to clear our table. I think the server was hating on me and my twin because we are handsome as F. Not my fault you're a server lady. Maybe if you tried harder at life, you wouldn't be so unhappy with your sloppy self. Absolutely never coming here again.

They are really improving. The service is really good, such a nice staff. Free bottomless chips and salsa and the 1 dollar tacos every taco tuesday I can say is very good for the price. The barbacoa ones are great! Happy hour from 2 -6. But I must day the regular price margaritas are a little bit stronger

    Chile Ranchero

We used to come here and it was great. Service is still good. We ordered the Chile ranchero. The cheese inside the pepper was cold and rubbery, the rice was beyond bland and cold. We told the manager and he said the owner changed the recipe and they have been getting a lot of complaints. We also ordered the steak chimichanga and I was soggy like it had been sitting out too long.

I have yet to find super great Mexican food...until then there are places like Carretas. The food and service was good but nothing stood out to entice me to re-visit. They offer a lunch menu but many of the options do not come with rice n beans so I had to order off of the regular menu. They offer typical chips and salsa before your entree. It was freeeezing in the place during lunch and we requested to have them put the heat on...no luck..i mean every customer was eating with a jacket or coat on...doesnt make for the most comfortable dining experience. This is a good place to pop in to if you are looking for a quick bite at a decent price.

The service was stellar, and it was surprisingly quiet for a Saturday night. The avocados in my salad were delicious. The tortilla chips in the salad were a great addition. The chicken was decent.

came here the other night for my 18th birthday dinner and it was the absolute best experience!!! the staff were so accommodating of our large party and got us seated rather quickly. the food was a 10/10 as usual, and the staff saw i was wearing a sash that said 'birthday princess' so they took it upon themselves to bring out a sombrero and churros to me and sang to me. the best experience i could have asked for :)

Good Mexican spot, but nothing great. The tortilla soup had a very good amount of chicken but it was very greasy. I also ordered the enchilada trio. It had green sauce on one, red sauce on one and cheese dip on the other. I really enjoyed the enchilada with the cheese dip but really disliked the enchilada with the red sauce. It had a weird smell and taste.

I haven't been here in over two years... Im glad we came back!! The staff is just amazing. We tried the tortilla soup and the avocado fries as appetizers; the tortilla soup tastes great and the avocado fries and definitely something different to try... the chipotle sauce is spicy so if you like spicy, you will love this appetizer. I had the green enchiladas and they were super delicious, I would've preferred shredded chicken because they cut the chicken in small chunks but overall they were good. We also had the shrimp chimichanga... also great flavor. The rice and beans are SUPER good. It's good to be back!

A few years ago I had been to La Tia in Metairie, and it left a serious impression. What stuck with me most were the craft cocktails...creative, clever, and a little bit mischievous. I still remember one in particular: a Mexican-inspired cocktail with mezcal and beet juice that somehow managed to taste like summer decided to take a vacation south of the border. It was the kind of drink that makes you pause mid-sip and say, "Okay... whoever thought of this deserves a raise." Somehow the place drifted off my radar over time. But when the craving for Mexican food hit, it popped right back into my head. I was excited to bring my son and daughter-in-law since they had never been. Unfortunately... the reunion didn't exactly go as planned. Two things hit me immediately while looking over the menu. First: the craft cocktails were gone. Not "different." Not "updated." Just... gone. Replaced with the same drinks you see in every other Mexican restaurant. Second: the prices nearly made me spit out the water I hadn't even ordered yet. $6 for a Corona. $18 for a basic burrito with fries. $10 for a kids plate over chicken tenders and some fries. And not the old La Tia burritos either...the ones I remembered piled high with rich molé, bright verde sauces, and layers of flavor that made you wonder if you should be taking notes. Nope. Now we're talking about a plain flour tortilla with some ground meat inside, no sauce, and a side of what looked suspiciously like freezer-aisle French fries. For eighteen dollars. My daughter-in-law ordered the fajitas, and honestly... they were rough. Thin strips of overcooked meat that looked like they had taken a brief vacation in a plastic bag before hitting the grill...served on a plate. Lately I've gotten into the habit of pulling up Yelp photos to compare dishes from past years, and I did exactly that. I found a photo of the same fajitas from about three years ago...big, juicy steak pieces, sizzling on cast iron and full of life. What we got looked like it came from a completely different restaurant. To be fair, my shrimp tacos were actually pretty good. Nicely cooked shrimp, decent flavor, and probably the lone bright spot of the night. But overall, it felt like the La Tia I loved had quietly packed up and left the building. The elevated Mexican food? Gone. The rich sauces? Gone. The inventive cocktails that made the bar worth sitting at? Also gone. In their place: food that feels pulled from a bag... at prices that feel pulled from a luxury menu. It's a tough thing when a restaurant you once loved loses its spark. But sadly, this visit felt less like a reunion and more like running into an old friend who has completely changed--and not for the better. As much as I hate to say it, I don't see myself returning to La Tia anytime soon. Turns out the only thing that stayed spicy... was the price tag.

Sat down immediately, they had the football games on tv and the outside area was jam packed with kids at a family event. I also never took a chance to admire the wall art, the flowers were a standout. I did notice a lot of tables were pretty dirty and could use a wipe down; I also noticed our table wasn't exactly sparkling either. The waitress basically told us she was burnt out - she was human and down to earth. Spoiler: she was excellent! Chips and salsa came out. Worth noting the first one had a sweeter taste and the second had a spicier taste. Some may call this inconsistent, but I saw it as a sign that it's homemade. Additionally we ordered a SMALL guacamole, and the small is massive. Tasty, full bodied, my only gripe is that I wish it was a bit chunkier on the avocado end. I ordered the smoked chicken smothered burrito and this thing was gigantic. Partner ordered poblanos with smoked pork. Both dishes are a super generous portion and delicious. Big thing here: I think between the meats and the smoked pinto beans it's worth noting that it blurs the line between its own identity and its sister restaurant of CCBBQ. This is NOT a bad thing, as the smokier flavor profile gives this Tex-Mex a unique angle. May I suggest a smoked salsa of sorts?? Only real miss was that we ordered a side of street corn; while it looked the part and was totally loaded up, it was utterly bland. Tough to accomplish this with street corn, I'm curious what could have gone wrong especially given that it looked beautiful. Two sodas, an appetizer, two entrees, and a bonus side dish came out to $59. I find this to be right on par! I will admit, the alcohol is way overpriced, I've noticed from my other visits. I only drink when it's taco Tuesday/happy hour. But for the price of a non-alcoholic, FULL course lunch, it's perfect. Been back before, and I'll be back again. Great job LC.

It's amazing!! It tastes SO good, I'm sure it's super bad for you with tons of seasonings and butter, but you'll be addicted. Our table kept asking for more and more servings throughout the meal! Now, you could buy the popcorn to take home with you, but at $8 a bag, you'd be better off just eating it there. I also really loved their queso ($9). I'd say it's a bit overpriced, but it's not made with the crappy kind of queso that you'd get from Chipotle and it's truly delish. It's creamy, but with a rich cheesy flavor you can only get from good quality real cheese. Served with roasted poblano (a kind of non-spicy pepper), onion, and corn. I had the chicken tinga tacos ($9). This was good! The chicken was well-seasoned and flavorful. It comes with only 2 tacos though and nothing else, which brings it to $4.50 per taco. I think for the price, it could be 3 tacos... You can add a side order of rice and beans (+$3), but honestly, that was disappointing. The rice was plain white rice and the beans were unseasoned. Their breakfast menu is where it's at, I think! It's pretty cheap considering the location uptown. Each dish is around $10 give or take a few bucks and seems to come with a good portion of food. This is what I'd try next time I'm there!
