Hidden gem on the outside of Marrero near Westwego. Hibiscus agua fresca was refreshing. It was getting busy with lots of customers coming in after 4:30. Authentic ambiance. Outside is painted beautifully. Chips were fresh and so was the complimentary salsa. I ordered a tamale plate. They were flavorful, but a tad dry for my liking. The food and the service were great. We were fitted in less than 5 minutes on a Taco Tuesday. Chips and Salsa were brought to our table immediately and our server came took our drink order promptly after. The appetizer came out timely and our food followed within 10 minutes. I have slowly watched the decline of this business for the last few years. Today we attempted to eat here again and were met with no server or host to seat us for over ten minutes. we left out of frustration. The last two times we ate here our server, who we named jailhouse Janet got our orders incorrect, no refills and slow service. As for food it was ok , the avocado dip was good , but not in photo . The fajitas were ok , the meat was pre marinated but wasn't something I would order again. Prices have increased quality of service and food have decreased. Portion size is as if everything is a kids meal. Service well their is none. Pack your patience you're going to wait a while. Waiter had a terrible attitude as if he was bothered by us patronizing this establishment. I forsee this place closing its doors and joining the "ain't dere no mo club." This review is not about the food because I have eaten here many of times. The kitchen service / waitress service was about terrible. We managed to get a table right where you enter. We asked to move to the main dining but were told we couldn't because there was a private party of 30 coming. Waitress showed and took our drink order and queso blanco order. My drink came first followed by the queso and finally the second drink. It was all downhill from here. It took quite awhile for the waitress to get back with us. We placed a dine in order and to go order at the same time. Dine in order was two tacos, one flauta and a cup of enchilada soup. Checking the time we had been in there 1 1/2 hours with no food delivery. The table behind us was there about 15 minutes and had two tacos and something else. WTF. Finally the flauta came and we waited about another 10 minutes and decided to cancel the remainder of the order and pay for what we had. Absolutely ridiculous service. I will never sit in that front room again and never stay when there is a party of 10 or more. The kitchen definitely needs help and someone needs to track the orders. Unacceptable. read more

Seasoned, savory and tangy with delicious shredded chicken, creamy avocado slices, crispy tortilla strips with cheese & chopped tomatoes/onions. A few days ago myself and some co-workers ordered carry out via the telephone (about 10 of us in total). The server who took our order via telephone was awesome, patient, and careful to repeat the order back upon giving each individual total. The problem came in at pick-up. A worker assuming to be a manager named Thomas was rude beyond belief. While the business was busy with seated customers, our money was being g spent just the same. While cashing out each order I handed him the payment he returned the change in whole dollar amounts, KEEPING THE COIN CHANGE. For two of the orders, he mistakenly shorted me on the change (one $1 and the other $5). When I informed him of that he became very defensive and said he was doing me a favor. I kindly reminded him that he was providing a service in which I was paying for. And I also told him if he wanted to be technical and have me correct him further, I'd also like the coin change he has already shorted each ticket. Needless to say he handed over the missing $6 and then stormed off. Fast forward to eat time. Orders were completely wrong. Missing items that were paid for and/or made wrong. I personally did not enjoy the meal and would never return to that place again!!!! read more

Great chorizo with queen dip. My friend ordered carnitas and it must have been 3/4 on or more of meat. I had the trio of enchiladas, beef, chicken and cheese. Those were yummy. This is based on take out. Not enough chips with salsa, they forgot our queso dip. Some of the entrees don't come with rice and beans so you have to order them separate. The restaurant is a little out of the way, but food is worth the trip. Me and my wife entered the restaurant and were seated immediately. The server took our drink orders within 2 minutes with a smile. We did not have an appetizer except for chips and a great salsa. We both ordered steak fajitas. The waitress was attentive to our needs. The food came out promptly, hot, and delicious. The price was reasonable and well worth it. The only reason for a 4.5 Stars review is it's location. Being from Texas, and knowing what real authentic Mexican food, I really enjoy having this restaurant nearby and being from Central Texas having to drive over 30 minutes to get to a authentic restaurant like this one is a normal thing. I went to this restaurant because I had a good friend recommend it, I'm glad I tried it out because it is the closest thing that I can fine in Louisiana to what I'm used to having in Texas. When I arrived and the young lady seated me the waitress came around and she took my drink order I started asking her questions about the menu. Come to find out she was from Brownsville Texas living here in Louisiana and so we visited for a few minutes and she helped me out with what I wanted to eat. If you're looking for authentic mess Mexican food this is a place to go I actually went about 430 to 5 o'clock and it was a good time to go because they were not very busy and it was quiet I will be revisiting this restaurant many times while I am here working. Went for lunch about 2:00. Chips were fresh, thin and crisp and the salsa tasted good. I had the lunch menu, steak chimichanga (good recommendation by my waiter) which came with beans and rice. The meat was tender and of good quality. The rice was standard and the beans were above average and seasoned well. I ordered a separate ground beef taco, a cheese enchilada and a pork tamale and they were also pretty good but not as good as the chimichanga. The service was very good. Several months ago, my visit to Las Maracas was good. The food was good and so was the service. My husband and I decided to go eat an early dinner there on Sunday April 7, 2019. When we sat down at the table the server brought us warm tortilla chips, salsa and menus. The salsa was very watery and had little flavor. I don't know if their salsa is made in-house or if it comes prepackaged from a supplier; but store brand salsa would have been much better than the salsa they serve. My husband ordered fajitas and I ordered a beef taco plate, plus we had a pork tamale on the side. The best food item we ordered was the tamale. The fajitas and tacos were just ok, nothing special. Sadly, it made me wish we would have gone to Taco Bell. We did have good table service. That's the only reason I'm rating two stars instead of one star. read more
