Texacado Toast and Hearty Vegetable Chili, with Blue Corn Chips & Salsa
Camryn P.

So, a little backstory first - I went to Jason's Deli in Baton Rouge with my grandparents all the time growing up. It's been years since coming to Jason's Deli. One day last week, my boyfriend and I placed an order with the Metairie location for some comfort food. It was just delicious! Everything was packaged well. My boyfriend has been vegan for ~10 years and said the hearty vegetable chili is the closest to the "real thing" he's ever had. I love getting their salads, and their sandwiches are perfect sizes. Tonight, we came in person. The staff was very friendly. I was very impressed. We both got the same thing we ordered last time because it was too good, and once again, it was wonderful! The soft serve ice cream for dessert was just perfect, too. This is a great casual place to grab a bite to eat. We will keep coming back.

Plain Jane Potato

I was craving a baked potato and decided to order a Plain Jane Potato and Strawberry Shortcake from Jason's Deli (through Uber Eats). The shortcake was very fresh and delicious, no complaints at all! The potato was disappointing. They put all of the fixings on it before the driver picked it up and didn't bother giving me any butter or sour cream on the side. It was very dry! Had they given me the extra butter/sour cream, the potato would have been delicious. I wouldn't order delivery again, but would be willing to try again at the restaurant to ensure I have sufficient toppings.

Salad bar, grilled cheese and tomato basil soup

This is the second time here. Taja greeted us and took or order and had an answer for everything. She was great. I came back to try the salad bar it was awesome. Very clean and organized. The rest of the staff was quick and friendly. Very clean considering it is an open kitchen. Give this a try!!!

The food was good however I'm taking away a star due to an unprovoked R U D E employee. I didn't catch her name because she was not wearing a name tag nor was her name printed on the receipt, but the short Caucasian lady with short, dirty-blonde hair could use an extensive lesson on customer service and just being kind in general. I did nothing to provoke such nasty treatment. However, I kept my composure in spite of her rudeness. If I ever return, I will definitely avoid her at all costs!

DISCLAIMER: This review will be confusingly similar to my review of the Jason's deli on the West bank in Harvey, LA. After having recently tried Jason's Deli while in Memphis on business, and also having visited the location on the West bank in Harvey, LA, I was super stoked to find out that they just recently opened a store in Metairie, LA near the foot of Veterans Memorial Blvd. I haven't enjoyed a truly good salad bar since my Los Angeles days when I used to visit Soup Plantation on a regular basis. The opening of the conveniently located Metairie location saves me from fighting the traffic on the Crescent City Connection Bridge (over the Mississippi River). I'll reiterate that Uber-Yelper Marielle S. hit the nail on the head when she stated in her review that "it's like Panera Bread on steroids". The best part is that it's less expensive and has more food choices. Jason's has quite the extensive menu (see below): Soups: 10 offerings Prepared salads: 6 offerings Garden Fresh Salad Bar: 5 different protein offerings available Muffalettas: Ham & salami or roasted turkey Pastas & Potatoes: 7 offerings Specialty sandwiches: 9 offerings Club sandwiches: 3 offerings Paninis: 3 offerings Wraps: 4 offerings Famous favorites: 10 offerings to include their Pastrami, Reuben and Corned Beef. Kid's Menu: JD Pickle Meals (6 offerings) & Kidwich meals (5 offerings) Desserts: FREE ICE CREAM According to their website, "All good things start with wholesome ingredients", and when I walked up to the salad bar, I was immediately impressed with not only how fresh the ingredients looked, but also how clean the staff kept the the salad bar. Anyone who's frequented a salad bar knows how quickly messy people can mess up a salad bar. However, the staff at Jason's were constantly monitoring, cleaning and replenishing the salad bar while we ate, and they checked on our table frequently to see if we needed anything. Being so new, this location is in pristine condition; however, it seems that the staff is very mindful regarding cleanliness, and that's always a great thing for any restaurant. I've been to this location 6 or 7 times and everything is still great. Looking forward to going back again and again and again!

I haven't tried the sammiches yet, but I'm looking forward to it...they look amazing when I get to the end of the counter and pick up my empty bowl waiting to be filled with salad. It's kind of sad, I suppose, the poor little white bowl, clean as a whistle, handed to me by a super-friendly J-Delian, but my aim is to rectify that. And well. So, the service here is really friendly and the food looks and tastes delicious, but I've had to wait for food to be brought out (such as when I ordered the 4 ounces of steak to go with my salad) and it wasn't done very timely. To be fair, I only tried it once, but on the next trip, my dinner companion experienced the same long delay and we eventually had to ask where our food might have gotten off to. The salad bar. This is a shining star. There are choices for greens, olives, cheeses (including feta), boiled eggs, real chopped bacon, tomatoes and peppers and artichoke hearts, oh my! Lots and lots more to choose from and the salads I have made here are outstanding, filling, and always leave me with a smile on my face and a glow in my heart. Still, I want one of the sammiches! To say a little about the steak I ordered. Very little, I guess, because the word that comes to mind is "disappointed." It wasn't much steak for the price, it wasn't good steak for the price, and it wasn't prepared very well...again, for the price (plus, it didn't arrive until I had made my second salad!). I was disinclined to try it on my second visit and feel I was a better man for the decision. I will be back, definitely, this salad bar is fantastic. And, damn it, I want one of those sandwiches!

Build your own salad bar (delivery) - I assumed I would receive a very wimpy salad and instead it was piled high and super fresh.

Thought I'd leave a review because I've had two very good experiences with food that I ordered via Uber Eats. Portions are plentiful and the food is unpretentious and tasty. The Beefeater sub and Irish potato soup in particular are delicious. Today I took a gamble and ordered a build your own veggie sandwich and build your own salad, trying for something a bit healthier than my normal takeout orders. I was so impressed by the size and quality of both! They offer a ton of options by way of veggies at no extra cost, and they came super fresh and piled high, which is especially appreciated when your order is mostly veggies. So many places do the bare minimum on delivery orders, leaving you stranded with an expensive and lackluster "meal". Absolutely recommend - and I'll definitely be back!

Seems like a chain, but they claim they aren't. I came for an early dinner one weekday. Parking is shared with the strip mall, so plenty of parking. Walking in about 5p on a weekday and it was almost empty. One other table with customers. Walk in, look at the menu, order at the counter, get your number and a cup for your beverage, take your seat. I got the hot pastrami on rye and chips. It was good, with the fillings overflowing. I liked the food. However, it just seemed so sad and empty inside. The entire 30 minutes I was there, only one other table was occupied. The "salad bar" seemed of the iceberg lettuce kind. As there was no one else in the restaurant, I wonder how often they refresh it, or how many people actually get that option. It is dimly lit inside. I am not sure if I will be back.

If you read…read morethe whole review I'll give you the best tip on how to skip the line (insert shushing emoji) and don't cheat by skipping to the end! Hands down, the best po'boys in all of NOLA. Everything is made from scratch (except the bread, which they source locally), and you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. My personal favorites are the Surf & Turf and the James Brown. The Surf & Turf gives you get the best of both worlds (shout out to Hannah Montana). Look it up kids. You get the slow-cooked roast beef with gravy plus fresh Gulf shrimp. Shut the front door! The James Brown is just as incredible: juicy BBQ beef, pepper jack cheese, fried shrimp, and a hot sauce mayo. Bring napkins - you'll need them. Pro tip: go with a group and order a few different po'boys to share. You'll want to try everything. You made it to the end, so here we go. I feel like gate keeping (look it up old-timers), but I'm going to be generous because I love y'all. In order to skip the line, go to the bar area and find a high top or seat at the bar. A seat always opens up quickly. It never fails. You can order from the bartender and the service is top notch. Cheers y'all!

Parkway Bakery & Tavern -- 4…read more Okay... let's start with the bread, because baby in New Orleans that's where it's won or lost. And THIS bread? Yeah... they did that. Soft, fresh, easy bite. Not that hard French bread that have you pulling and pulling like you in a workout and your jaw about to lock up. As a born and raised New Orleans girl, I'm real particular about my French bread because the bread will make or break your sandwich. I don't know if they bake it in-house or source it, but whatever they doing... keep doing it. Now before I even got the food, let me talk about ordering because that was a little journey. I ordered online and initially had some issues. I actually had to go through Google and search to even find the right website. It wasn't super easy to register or navigate at first, but once I got to the correct site, it was smooth sailing from there. I placed my order, got a time window, and they gave very clear, precise directions on what to do when I pulled up. Now pulling up, I did have to go around the corner to get into the drive-thru situation, but when I tell you... they have a SYSTEM. Very organized. Cars lined up, steady flow, and it looked like business was booming. There's artwork outside, multiple stations, and everything just felt like it ran with purpose. I walked up to the first booth, told the man my name, and he already knew my food was ready. Directed me to pull up to the red light where pickup was, no confusion, no chaos. They don't play. They stand on business and I respect that. Now the food... The shrimp were nicely fried, good size too. Not them little tiny ones where you gotta search through the sandwich just to find one. Every bite had shrimp, evenly distributed, and seasoned well. That's how it's supposed to be. The sauce was good too. It had that New Orleans style BBQ feel to it, kind of like a BBQ shrimp sauce. Messy in a good way. Now the roast beef... Flavor was there, but texture-wise it leaned a little dry for me. It wasn't juicy like I expected. It did say it comes with pepper jack, but I didn't really catch that flavor. Granted, I did add onions and mustard, so that could've played a part. Overall though, it's still worth trying again. Next time I'm probably going to order it as-is, no changes, just to really get the full experience the way they intended. But yeah... Parkway definitely earned a spin back.
