Oh my goodness the food here is just amazing. It's a little hole in the wall but the service and the food are awesome. Must try the étouffeé and the biscoff banana pudding!!!! The gumbo is to die for!!! Fried green tomatoes and fried eggplant is soooo good

The beef po boy and the bbq shrimp Po boy are a 10/10. I tried the chicken tortilla soup and it was good but not something I would order again. What made the visit perfect is our server. Kaysee was so attentive and engaging guiding us along. She kept checking on us and was very friendly. The restaurant inside is a bit run down but it is so charming and welcoming. We highly recommend trying it out.

We have enjoyed visiting Luizza's several times throughout the years. Our last visit was 6 years ago. While this visit was good the food offerings seemed to have changed. We loved the BBQ shrimp plate we have had on previous visits but now they offer a po boy version which didn't look as yummy. This time we had the shrimp plate and the daily special of Creamy home-made butter beans served with a pork chop. The shrimp were abundant, tasty and cooked perfectly but the fries were soggy and coleslaw was not my favorite. The pork chop was fried with a great crispy coating but the butter beans were the star. We will definitely return on our next visit to NOLA. I just hope the BBQ shrimp plate is back on the menu.

Bowl of beans from specials board, shrimp remoulade, fried shrimp platter, gumbo & half a shrimp poboy, salad and a must have root beer.

Clean neighborhood dive bar with tasty NOLA grub and heavy old school scooners of beer or bottles of Barq's. This place is a tight spot so don't stop in with a crowd. There are always interesting characters holding court at the bar. Great gumbo and fried seafood. The BBQ shrimp po-boy is unique and packed with flavor, just make sure you have a whole roll of Tums in your pocket for later. Tasty sauces and dressings seem house-made. Don't forget to check out the specials board. Service is quick but busy. If you come during Jazzfest, you will not get the full experience but will have a good bowl of gumbo available, bloody Mary's, beer and great people watching.

Older, more classic bar/restaurant with a cool vibe. Right around the corner from the horse track. It appears to be mostly locals. Went on a Monday which is red beans and rice typically. I'd definitely come back. The bartenders were pleasant and friendly. Red beans and rice smoked sausage. $10.95 Half roast beef po-boy w/ gumbo cup $15.95 ....Cold beans. They reheated. (1 star demerit) $3 PBR which was great! Nice and cold. We ate at bar, which is my go-to at most places..

After an 8 hour drive on a Monday from Texas, I decided to walk around by my friends place (who lives by the Fairgrounds) for a spot to get dinner and hang out at while I waited for him to get back from his activities. He'd always mentioned going to Luizza's but I'd never had the chance to go myself, even though I lived in NOLA for a bit and frequently come back to visit and check on my place and friends. This was a homerun and the best way to start my week in New Orleans. I was going to go for the famous spicy po-boy (horseraddish) but after the bartender's reaction to my asking "how hot is it" and getting a "you'll feel it deep in your nostrils" response, I knew that kick would be one I was not ready to handle, so I went with the fully dressed beef po-boy and could not have been happier with the outcome. It was just me, so I became friends with the other fellow who was a long time local hanging there at the bar -- we hit it off (as you will with most folks in NOLA which is the magic of the city) and had a great conversation while I enjoyed this delicious and insanely affordable meal (another great thing about NOLA) If you're up by the Fairgrounds and want a top tier staple place that gives true New Orleans vibes, at a great price, and tastes amazing, you've found it.

I'm always near this spot, but parking is tough and it's usually packed during lunchtime. I had seen pictures of the ice cold beer glass, so I figured even if the food didn't blow me away, a frosty beer would save the day and ultimately, it did! I grabbed a seat at the bar and the bartender was amazing. She picked up that it was my first time and gave me a quick tour of the menu with some solid recommendations. I went with the hot sausage po' boy and a cup of gumbo. The po' boy left a little to be desired for me personally, but I'll admit I might just not be a po' boy kind of guy. The gumbo was pretty good though! The real winner? That ICE COLD beer. If you're into po' boys, I think this place might be for you. I'd come back for the gumbo, the service, and definitely the beer.

Kind of hole In the wall spot, if there's one thing you NEED to try it's the BBQ shrimp Poboy! Unlike other places, the shrimp in the one is juicy and not coated/fried. The perfect amount of BBQ, pepper and lemon flavour profile! Absolutely delicious the service was quick, but the food took sometime to come out (worth the wait though )

Unbelievable garlic oyster poboy, unbelievable soft shell crab poboy with crawfish etoufee . Super cool old school place. Reminds me of somewhere my grandma used to go back in the day ( and I mean that in a good way ). Nice selection of beer , Abita purple haze and strawberry !!! Some 5 dollar specialty drinks as well. Real fast friendly service Even my kids grilled cheese was cooked to PERFECTION. I will 100% come back here the next time I'm in NOLA

Liuzza's By The Track became a destination for all my NOLA visits a couple of years ago. How it has not become a tourist spot I do not know. Oh, I'm sure tourists go there. But most of the patrons are local. I see some of the same folks each time I go. Located near the Fairgrounds on Lopez, parking can be a challenge. Pick your times to find a spot. No matter. The food and service are consistently good, and the BBQ shrimp PoBoy is a must-have before you depart Planet Earth. The bar boasts 10 seats (or thereabouts). There are a couple of 2-seat high tops and 4 (or is it 5) tables. So not a huge place. Part of what adds to the experience. They turn off the music when Jeopardy comes on. Saddle up at the bar to guess answers with your fellow drinkers and diners.

Oh my goodness, just writing this review is making my mouth water. I absolutely loved this restaurant--from the decor/vibes to the amazing food! Our server was also super friendly and the food came out super quick! We got the gumbo and crawfish etouffe to start, and split the bbq shrimp poboy and the garlic oyster poboy. The gumbo and crawfish etoufee were both so flavorful and delicious, with hearty ingredients and seasoned perfectly. Both poboys were also so yummy--I loved the sauciness of the bbq shrimp, while the fried oysters were so plump and fresh. I would teleport here every day if I could to eat the food. This place is def worth a stop; you won't be disappointed!

The Po' Boy and Étouffée plate is hard to beat!

Liuzza's By The Track is Nola at its best. I'm talking about great food; in a low-key atmosphere; with friendly, food-loving customers. This is my kinda place!! My wife and I stopped in here a while back and we were blown away. I had one on the best Po' Boys in my life. Liuzza's By The Track is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, not far from City Park. We were here on a Wednesday afternoon and the place was probably at 90% of capacity. I ordered the Po' Boy and Étouffée Plate. The Shrimp Po' Boy was one of the best I've ever had. The Étouffée was equally incredible. The place is small...basically a bar with some high-tops. Service is very good and prices are hard to beat. It is a bit off the beaten path, but I highly recommend seeking out Liuzza's By The Track!

This place had been on my list forever and I always see people post it everywhere. I came in on a Tuesday night so it was pretty chill. So I sat down quickly and the food came out in a good amount of time. The two servers I had were real cool and gave great suggestions. The place itself is a neighborhood staple it's a cool dive bar! The food was amazing we got the: BBQ Shrimp Poboy- I see why everyone raves about it. It's so good and it's the best thing I had. It's tangy, a little sweet, and the shrimp are cooked perfect. Gumbo- Was nicely flavored and well balanced the seasoning to spice ratio was Spot on! Crawfish Etoufee- This is one of my favorite foods of all time so I'm very critical about it. They did not disappoint very flavorful and rich. You get a hint of spice on the backend of every bite. Caesar Salad- This was the biggest surprise it was excellent! The dressing was really good that's what I think did it. Sometimes it's ok to put a lot of dressings on the lettuce especially if it's that good. I will definitely be back to this spot for drinks and more food!

We stopped here on Lundi Gras and were told at NOON they weren't serving food for 30 minutes. They are on a break. So we didn't eat.

Hot N Cajun With no seated tables available when I arrived…read moreat Hot'n Cajun Boil House on Iberville Street in New Orleans, I happily accepted a seat at the bar. Behind the bar, Sandy mixed me a Summer Peach (Absolute Vodka, real peach, sweet tea, fresh lemon, $14) and provided the bib and gloves I likely would need if in fact I wanted to enjoy a crawfish boil. Of the dozens of restaurants I've visited in New Orleans, rare is the menu that includes a crawfish boil. Hot'n Cajun has it. I asked the barkeep Sandy B. if it was still crawfish season, and she assured me that it was. So I ordered 3 pounds of boiled crawfish (including potatoes and corn on the cob, $25.99), asked that the seasoning be "medium", and Sandy brought me a Model ($9) with a neat Maker's Mark ($12). The experience was pretty close to what I remember we'd find if invited to a neighbor's crawfish boil. Three pounds sounds like a lot, but the yield is more like half a pound, at most. So I put the gloves and bib on and started in on the crawfish. Nice presentation, and very good, fresh crawfish.

AMAZING 10/10 We got 1lb of crawfish for $10 and ordered…read moresome snow crab and corn as well. For the crawfish we chose the house cajun blend + mild spice, and for the crab we chose the Louisiana style dry rub + mild spice. It was absolutely delicious, and reasonably priced. Our server was even kind enough to demonstrate the proper way to eat the crawfish. I'd highly recommend this place.
