this experience redeemed my previous review, because the staff made me laugh so hard and were all so happy to be at work and friendly. This the third time I've gotten these nachos and I'm not even a barbecue person. 10 out of 10 for the deliciousness of the meat and toppings. I think the only thing that would make this better is homemade chips. there's plenty of outdoor seating, even in the summer months. It's nice because it's shaded and there are powerfully fans with misters. Lots of indoor seating as well kept clean and nice.
My family and I are Trying bbq recommendations around town and this is definitely a top contender! We were the first ones in on a Saturday and my husband and I shared a 3 meats plate and 2 sides. We also got the dip to share which had a nice kick to it. Walk up ordering service was friendly and quick and they offer both indoor and outdoor seating which is nice on hot days! Family friendly too!
We were recommended to come here by another business owner. The place was very welcoming. Loved the outdoor seating. They have a great menu full of delicious dishes. The prices are a little higher for the portions. The nachos with rib meat were amazing. Loved the spices on the tots and Mac and cheese. Happy hour is a great idea to enjoy their drinks. We were happy to visit. Would recommend for everyone to visit.
Blue Oak is a solid for me. I loved the family friendly vibe and the outdoor patio area. It's laid-back, comfortable, and somewhere you can eat without worrying if your kids are bothering someone. My biggest suggestion would be having a menu outside. I felt a little rushed trying to decide what I wanted. As for the food, the wings were good, the ribs were good, and the baked beans were hands-down some of the best I've ever had. The potato salad didn't quite hit the mark for me. I would've loved a little more pickles one my plate but overall the food was yummy .Definitely worth checking out!
Seeing the reviews on this spot had me excited to check this out. It was a Wednesday evening and I placed an online order through Toast for this spot. Everything looked/sounded good on their menu so went with the three meat plate consisting of ribs, jerk wings, and sausage. I wanted brisket but they were sold out sadly. Also got a pair of sides with the brussels sprouts and side gumbo. Upon arrival, my order wasn't ready so I waited and observed the interior area. Every table was seated with people so my excitement increased. I noticed the staff doing the cooking and order-taking move efficiently and use their own lingo; reminds me of my server/bartender days. As I took a moment to daydream about this, they called me name and gave me my order. While I thought about eating it right there, I decided on bringing it back to my hotel and opened everything up. As for the meats, the sausage was my favorite. It's a green onion sausage that's juicy and gives a good pop when you bite it. The ribs were decent but I've had better elsewhere. I was super excited for the wings and the jerk flavor delivered but the texture of the wings were a big tough. Probably should've eaten these at the restaurant instead of getting it to go maybe? As for the sides, the gumbo has decent flavor but was more on the soupy side; I prefer my gumbo on the thicker end. Brussels Sprouts had good flavor. By no means am I disappointed in the meal. But it was underwhelming on some of the items I was excited about. I wondered if I did items like the brisket or mac & cheese, how would those taste? Guess I'll have to find out next time I return.

We were really stoked about this place based on reviews. It was packed. This has to be a good sign, right? No. We got the five smoked wings tossed in Kung pao. This was the best part of the meal, in my opinion. We split the three meat platter with two sides. The brisket was mediocre at best. The lower part was dry. The pulled pork was more of a chopped pork that was also dry. The ribs were not bad, but they did not wow us. Their house sauce is more of a North Carolina sauce and I was not a fan. The spicy vinegar was delicious. The crispy brussels sprouts were ok, but not as crispy as I would have imagined although the sweet chili sauce was delicious. I would recommend trimming the hard stem off the bottom when they cut them in half. In their defense, the mac & cheese does say garlic mac & cheese but so much that it borders inedible. It's nothing like a mac & cheese I would expect at a barbecue place. I really wanted to like this place and leave a great review but as Southerners who look for amazing barbecue places, this place disappointed
The service on 7/4/2025 was wonderful despite how busy they were. We went for happy hour [sliders and wings and frozen drinks and nachos] and threw in an order of tater tots. Everything was perfectly cooked, well seasoned, and portioned well. Compliments to whoever preps the condiments. My onions were sliced perfectly for throwing them on my chicken sliders. I also got a side of szchechuan wing sauce to dunk my tots into. Indulgent? Yes. Delicious? Also, yes. I appreciate the layout as it encourages a flow of foot traffic that reduces crowds. One way in and one way out. I'm not sure how much they can control this, but I wish there was a way to better manage the flies. They also have a major mosquito problem when you're sitting outside at dusk. I've had to abruptly end my meal because of the bug bites. I don't like to complain about tasting alcohol in drinks, but I'm about to. I often find their frozen cocktails tasting too strongly of alcohol and the big straws unnecessary as the drinks are not very frozen and definitely don't have any chunks to slurp up.

Blue Oak never fails me! This is a local spot with great service. We come here quick often and have become regulars due to their consistency and friendly staff. Food and drinks are always good. Don't think I've ever had a negative experience here that wasn't resolved quickly. A few items that we always order include smoked wing and thigh, brisket baked potato, Sichuan wings, beer fat tater tots, brisket nachos, margaritas, and I'm sure there's more. Ugh it's sooo good, we'll be back this week!

You can sit indoors, in the bar, or outside on piknik tables and umbrellas. I personally had the weekly special sliders and they were outstanding. 2 well portioned chicken thighs coated and fried in a spicy coating. Not too heavy...just right. The others in my party opted for sliced brisket or chopped brisket with sides. I thought the smoked beans were very well done as well as the coleslaw. The potatoes salad in my opinion was a bit bland. Highly recommend the BBQ spot though the parking is pretty tight!!! You'll see why.

Love this BBQ restaurant in midcity. So convenient, love the outdoor seating as well as the bar inside. Great food for sure and one of my all time bbq favs in the city. So good and so many options to choose from. The options are so delicious and sides are like wow to die for. Service is good and quick, food is delivered fresh every time. This last time I visited I thoroughly enjoyed the cocktails and the sides. Cracklins is a must try and of course the Brussel sprouts. Yummy!!!! read more

Food always good at Blue Bayou. Got some for lunch the other day. If you call ahead, food is usually waiting for you at the pickup window. Got their Philly special with their Brussel sprouts. The sprouts are always good. My only issue, if you want to call it that, is I wish the portion sizes were larger. read more

Came into town for a work lunch and our firm manager recommended this place (She's a local). We sat on the outside patio which was nice when a breeze came through on occasion. They also have misting fans out there to manage the discomfort. You can smell the place from a block away. It's neat to be at a place surrounded by historic homes and old oak trees. Now onto the food. I got the 3 Meat Plate with Brisket, Ribs, and Pulled Pork. I've been smoking and eating Texas style meats for 25+ years, so I'm a bit of an admitted BBQ snob. The brisket was cooked perfectly. Not overwhelmingly Smokey, very tender, and still juicy. The ribs were a bit of a disappointment since they were overcooked and had a leathery texture. The flavor was incredible, just the texture was off. I wasn't upset though...it happens. The Pulled Pork was still very moist and easy to eat. The sides were very good also. The Beef Fat Tater Tots had a great texture and a Smokey flavor that I suspect came from a paprika based spice blend on them. The potato salad had great texture, but was very onion forward, so be aware if that is not your thing. My wife got the brisket plate, but got the lean cut from the flat of the brisket. It was still tender and moist. Her Roasted Garlic Mac-n-Cheese and Brussel Sprout sides gave me envy...they were both absolutely delicious! This place also has unique BBQ sauces. They have a house sauce which is a sweet sauce much like you might buy of any grocery store shelf, but better. They also had a Carolina style and a Jerk style BBQ sauce, which ended up being my favorite and was an unexpected surprise. It was a perfect companion for the pulled pork in particular. I gave the entire experience a 4 out of 5. Very solid lunch option. If you're in N.O. and aren't looking for seafood...give them a try. read more

Best BBQ! Always a hit. Love the sides. Meats are always cooked to perfection. Portions generous. Try your best to try a variety! Can get very busy during peak times with not a ton of indoor seating. Love the bbq sauces as well. Meat is tender and flavor packed. Our go to place for bbq! read more

Came here twice while I was visiting NOLA. It's a great spot to be able to sit outside, as I had my dog with me. The wings and sides are the best things on the menu here. The Brussels sprouts and baked beans are AMAZING. Both times, my boyfriend and I split the 3 meat combo and it was plenty for the both of us. Service is also very quick. Even if it looks busy, you will get your food within 10-15 minutes id say! read more

Came here on a recommendation. Must admit it's a little way from where we were staying, but worth the ride. Great selection of barbecue, insider and outdoor seating, and a very friendly staff. Had brisket, pulled pork, wings, and Brussel sprouts. All was very good and the portion sizes were good. Will definitely come back when in town again. read more

I went here on a Saturday night and the restaurant was pretty busy. The layout inside is to me, designed poorly in regards to seating but you do have the option to sit outside which is nice. It was a little too windy for us, so we ended up sitting inside. You order at the front and then your food is brought to you, and it was brought to us quickly. I ended up getting a three meat plate with brisket, sausage and ribs. As well as, coleslaw and tater tots for sides. I felt that all of the meat was very tasty but honestly wished the portion sizes were a little bigger for the price point. We also ended up getting a rum punch, which to me was too tart. And given the amount of people eating there at the time, in my opinion there should have been more than one bartender. The bartender did a great job, but it was just very busy and the food came out about 10 minutes before our drinks were ready. I enjoyed going here and would probably go back again. read more

Overall, very good smoky flavor and tender juicy meats. I tried the 2 meat plate with the wings and brisket. I loved the wings and wish I had just gotten them. The brisket wasn't bad but could've used some bbq sauce. I got the food delivered so I didn't get a chance to experience the ambiance or see if they had a lot of sauce options. The totes were really unique and perfectly cooked with some seasoning on them that I couldn't place but it was great. The Mac and cheese was a little disappointing, I probably wouldn't get this again. read more

Blue Oak BBQ has been a huge letdown as of recent. Today, I specifically ordered two plates of fatty brisket and instead was given lean brisket. Did they really think I wouldn't notice the difference? Anyone who knows barbecue knows fatty and lean brisket are worlds apart. For a BBQ restaurant, that's not just a slip-up -- it's unacceptable. To make it worse, the best thing I ate all night were the red beans and rice. Don't get me wrong, they were solid, but if that dish outshines the brisket, that says everything you need to know. A barbecue place should get the brisket consistently right before focusing on a slew of new niche lunch specials. Unfortunately, I won't be back. read more
Ribs were so tender and flavorful, roast chicken was succulent and crispy, and the brussel sprouts are a must order lmao TRUST - they were a little sweet, not overcooked and perfectly crispy. Also loved the Mac and cheese (not too saucy/ wet) and not too heavy OH and they also do 3 house sauces which are all so different but good in their own way the coleslaw unfortunately was very bitter and watery (not much flavor except for the overwhelming bitterness) and really sad about the banana pudding - was WAY too sweet and also wet?? At the BBQ FEST: These cracklings from Blue Oak BBQ are the absolute best I have ever eaten. That is saying a big praise since I am from the Acadiana area with Lafayette, port Barre, Ville Platte, mamou, Scott and Youngsville all around. Man these beat all of the local areas. We choose a random spot we'll it surpised me i dont normally like to get bbq because most of the time i feel like i can make it and its over priced. Well here comes this gem,it was so good their we choose the special or the day the brisket burger with the Brussel sprouts so freaking good! The sweet sauce they put on it was so good and the bacon was fireeeee This was the highlight of my new Orleans trip! 100/10 read more

I would assume all the meats but if you're dealing with an allergy, then I'd suggest calling the restaurant and not take a gamble with strangers knowing the answer (after all it's your health)
Are vaccination cards required/mandatory?
No. I was there a couple of weeks ago and there were no restrictions.
Do they have a kids menu?
There is no specific kids menu, but a combo platter is definitely shareable!

we don't but we do take call in orders.
What are the vegan options?
Their motto is "Vegan free since 1993" (may not be the right year) lol but they don't have any vegan options - this place is for meat eaters only. 🤷🏻♀️
