World Deli has a nice selection of different food items with both a market and deli. The deli certainly offers a nice selection of food along with Interesting poboy options. This fun joint also provides a good choice of daily specials. You walk in and get in line then start looking at the menu and checking out the daily specials to decide what you will eat. The ambiance is very interesting with food items all over the place like a little tightly packed grocery store. This spot is VERY popular which leads to the biggest problem here which is parking. The parking here is very limited and it is a bit of a challange to get in and out of the parking lot. Many people say this is their favorite spot to eat and it seems a lot of folks come here nearly daily to get their World Deli fix taken care of. Overall you have a lot of great options and they have enough variety that most folks should find something that will make them happy. read more

Once off the plane, have your rideshare take you right over to World Deli for lunch with the locals. My MIL brought me here for the first time in '93 and she and her friends still come for lunch a few times a month as do most people who've lived here their whole life. Parking is tight but don't let that keep you away from the World. Yesterday, I went in for meatballs and red sauce but quickly took a detour when I saw the daily special, Crawfish Monica. If you're visiting for the first time, crawfish or shrimp Monica is a local favorite that's getting harder to find on restaurant menus partly because every family has their own version of this special party dish. The Monica special was outstanding. I got a plate full of spicy crawfish cream sauce mixed with rotini pasta, a side of spiced corn and garlic bread, enough for lunch and a midnight snack. I also couldn't pass up the shrimp remoulade salad for my lunch the next day. The shrimp were seasoned, the romaine greens were fresh, and the remoulade dressing was a knockout. If you're not feeling like a hot plate special, World Deli has a big list of sandwiches and poboys that are super popular, as well. But whatever you decide, don't skip out on dessert. This is one of the few local sandwich spots with a homemade dessert menu as big as the sandwich one and these desserts cater to the local palate. Yesterday they had plain cheesecake, cheesecake with cherry sauce, Tuscan cream cake, rum cake, pineapple upside down cake, wedding cake, pralines, and tiramisu. Don't ever pass up the rum cake in Louisiana. If you're in town for the weekend and have access to a fridge, buy some spinach artichoke dip and crab stuffed mushrooms from the ready-prep fridge for a late night snack. Lazy.. got a shrimp po-boy, a pastrami po-boy, a BLT and bacon cheese fries to go. Would have been happy to spend the $70 if it was good. The bacon is microwave bacon, they didn't even bother to toast the bread. Or properly assemble the sandwich. The shrimp was battered in unseasoned cornmeal. No flavor. The pastrami was old and reheated, very very dry. And the cheese fries were cold with cheese sprinkled on top, not even melted or heated with the same microwave bacon sprinkled on top. read more

This deli is a place that has a little bit of everything. You can order sandwich to go or eat inside with a fair amount of seating. Called an order in for pick up, when I arrived the lady at the counter didn't really greet me it was more of, "what's your name" vs a kind hello, before getting into my order. Place didn't feel welcoming had a strange vibe or a grocery store, deli counter, restaurant mashup. The folks in the back seemed nice when my order came up... food ended up being good- not sure worth the price but it was convenient to our new house. Sorry forgot to grab photos- we had the roast beef po-boy with gravy... it was good and the meat was tender (bread didn't get soggy and then a Ruben which had tons of meat, tasty seeded rye, and Swiss- definitely could have used more than what felt like a pinch of sauerkraut. It was good but I'd definitely ask for more sauerkraut next time. Also picked up some turtles which are my boyfriend's favorite - he was disappointed in the cookie but said the chocolate and pecans were spot on. We may try this again but it won't be a first choice due to the pricing... their prices are comparable to somewhere offering a side with the sandwich and here it's a la cart. read more

If I'm in a bind with time and don't want to cook, I'll stop here and get some dinners to bring home for the kids. Staff is nice, too! I just hate the parking lot. When I got home I discovered that they had made a regular roast beef poor boy. It was past 3:00pm and needed to eat. Not wanting to eat a cold sandwich I went ahead and ate what they sold me. It was nearly 3:30pm and I called World Deli to alert them of their mistake. I asked for the difference in price to be given as a credit for my next visit. The employee informed me they don't do credits and I could bring the sandwich back. (Impossible since I had already eaten it!) I am a 72 year old retired teacher and not used to being doubted. They also have 3 tall coolers full of prepared foods to go, like soups, all manner of pasta dishes and pizzas. Lots of varieties of bottled beer round out the coolers. Lining the main wall are shelves stocked with jarred olives, olive oils, minced garlic, boxed pastas, jams, cocktail mixes, condiments, candies, and various sodas and sparkling waters. They have a fountain machine, which serves coke products (yaaay) - but no juices for us purists, so S. Pelligrino, here I come! Everything is fresh and made to order. I thoroughly enjoyed their tomato pesto panini! The bread was perfectly crispy on the outside and filled with creamy mozzarella, tangy tomatoes, pine nuts and fresh pesto. What a perfect sandwich! Though I ordered it to go, I decided to enjoy it in their family-style dining area. Good call! Parking right out front (diagonal spaces for about 10 cars) is best since it's on Clearview Pkwy. I was in town for a class and only had an hour for lunch on the Saturday after St.Patrick Day and they were right next door to us. The vibe as soon as you walk in was very lively. They had so much to look at and purchase. Today was definitely my first time that the service from the deli area was absolutely Awful! I was in the middle paying my bill and I heard my name. I obviously wasn't quick enough as the deli lady walked up to the register and threw my sandwich on the counter and mouthed off "I called your name 3 times"! I was shocked! A few weeks ago, I ordered from here via Door Dash. My order arrived missing items and wasn't very good. Part of that order was their potato salad.
