BBQ Cauliflower "Wings" (BBQ sauce on the side)

Very conveniently located next to the children's museum. Perfect for a meal in between seeing the exhibits. Everyone was kind and had the typical New Orleans hospitality. We had the impossible burger and cauliflower. The cauliflower was great. It was seasoned perfectly and nicely fried. Would order again.

This place is so adorable. Yes I know it's attached to the children's museum but you don't need to have a kid or go to the museum to enjoy this place. The food is pretty good. I really enjoyed my blackened shrimp tacos. They also have beer and wine for sale! Yay! There is indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating on the patio is gorgeous and surrounded by the lagoons of City Park. Sip a glass of Prosecco and watch the turtles swim around. Needless to say, this place is also very kid friendly, but dogs are not allowed, even on the patio. Great spot for a nice Saturday with the whole family.

What a nice restaurant to have at a children's museum! What I expected was the $3 slices of pizza (nothing super special but decent, what I didn't expect was a yummy Mac and cheese dish on the kids menu (maybe $6?) which came with fruit and definitely not this beautiful bruschetta! It was a bit pricey but appreciated. Also can't beat the view, you get to eat with a water view and your kid is entertained watching turtles!

Oh wow! Can you believe a place like this at a children's museum? I ordered the Bacon Citrus Bowl and they even make their own bacon! Who does that? Place has a great view, plenty of seating, great food selection, and high quality food. Parking though could be a challenge.

Went to a rehearsal dinner at Acorn and the service and food was wonderful! What a lovely restaurant at the Children's Museum!

Ok so this was a surprise. The restaurant is attached to the children's museum which made me keep my distance as I imagined it full of screaming children and food that was catered to kids. Well thankfully the day I went it was slow and enjoyed a lovely salad outside on the deck overlooking the water at city park. The menu is quite impressive and well done. I almost got some food to go after I enjoyed my salad so much but alas I did not but has me wanting more. I'll be back.

I haven't done a 5 review in a while but this is truly a hidden jewel within City Park. The only bad part was the looooong walk to the door from parking that that had absolutely nothing to do with the great tasting food that was inside. You order at the register/coffee bar at the front of the restaurant which was surprisingly cute. When you walk into the front door it is aesthetically pleasing to the kid in me. It's so kid friendly that it makes you comfortable. It is strategically placed next to the Louisiana Children's Museum so be prepared to see the cute little kids as you dine. The food was sooooo good! I ordered the grit bowl and I just knew my Dad was in the back cooking. It tasted perfect. It was a huge bowl and I wasn't able to finish. It's totally shareable. I wasn't aware of the portions so I also ordered a grilled cheese and that was a lot as well. The coffee was piping hot and that's the way I love it. This place is so cute that I just have to come back to enjoy the lunch menu.

Mimosa! Getting my day underway from the covered veranda of Acorn at the Louisiana Children's Museum.

Sitting, enjoying a cool breeze overlooking the water outside at Acorn! This view and chill spot gave us high expectations for the quality of the food. Well....EXCELLENT!!!! We got an assortment of dishes as shown in the pictures 1) started with a wonderful mimosa 2) breakfast burrito stuffed with veggies 3) grits bowl 4) BBQ cauliflower "wings" 5) Brussels sprouts in Crystal, Honey sauce The two of us shared these dishes and took a nice snack home as "leftovers". It is wonderful place for a breakfast or lunch date on the veranda. It is within the Louisiana Children's Museum, and within City Park. As a result, there is something for EVERYONE before or after your meal! Folks, don't pass Acorn! It is a unique eatery in New Orleans that shouldn't be missed.

I'm obsessed with this place. How can this be a museum cafe?!?! This must be the best of the best in the nation for museum food. It's so fresh and unique. I ordered the daily special which was a Niçoise salad. It was so spectacular. The deviled eggs, tuna, boiled potatoes, spicy green beans and a delightful creamy sauce drizzled for the finishing touch. The space is fresh, open and unique. My son loved his Mac and cheese which wasn't your standard one. It seemed healthier than usual too. Not sure what kind of pasta they used but I recommend it. Even if you're not visiting the museum, try them out. They're outdoor space is beautiful and sits on the water. There are plenty of seats inside and out if you want to social distance.

Cute! Love the outdoor seating on the water! Lots of room for our big group that was out for a little walk in the park!

Located at the children's museum in city park. Food was amazing and well priced. Burger was good but small. The Brussel sprouts were delicious and the peach, prosciutto bruschetta was one of the best dishes I've had in a while.

Between my partner and I, we didn't spend more than $30 in this place. This place is super low-key; no expectations of dressing fancy one bit. This past week we visited and we could both tell right away things were different. The inside of the restaurant was filthy and I mean filthy. You could see the floor under the bar and in the kitchen hadn't been cleaned in months. The fryers hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. Everything just looked dirty and like no effort is put into cleaning and maintenance. We decided to eat anyway which was a mistake. We love their burgers that are cooked and steamed old school. We both ordered one. My wife ordered hers with bacon, which they charge over 3 bucks for. We both ordered our burger dressed with all the fixings. When my wife's burger came out it had no bacon and no fixings. I told the waiter and he said he would handled it. He never did as he started doing other orders. My burger had no flavor and it looked like the person that made it didn't care , which goes along with the restaurant cleanness. One thing that really turned us off was the was other guest were treated by staff. The "cook" was completely pissed off and had a horrible attitude. A group came in looking for a table and there wasn't room. He yelled at them that there wasn't room. They stood in the entrance area for a few moments and then he yelled at them that they needed to get out of the restaurant and wait outside. He told them this isn't a restroom so don't wait in line. The attitude and distain in his voice was overwhelming. A few minutes later a couple came in and found 2 seats at the bar. They decided to order food to go and was talking to the waiter. One of the 2 people ordering was standing behind the empty bar seat while they ordered. The cook yelled at this person that they needed to sit down. Both customers were stunned. The waiter told the cook they were making an order to go and the cook could be heard muttering under his breath. This little guy was nothing but attitude and seemed extremely pissed off the there. Maybe instead of being the restaurant traffic cop and total smart ass he should concentrate on getting orders straight since ours was screwed up and never fixed. Whatever charm this place had is gone along with the any effort to keep it up to clean standards.

Turtle Bay -- 4…read more Listen... this is MY spot. One of my favorite places and honestly one of the only places I'll sit down and eat in the French Quarter. I've been coming here for about 6 or 7 years now, and they are easily in my top three. The vibe? Dive bar, laid back, no fuss... but the FOOD? Don't sleep on it. Their menu is solid and I still haven't made it through everything yet. I've had the wings, which we actually got this visit but ate them so fast we didn't even get a picture. That should tell you enough right there. I've had the pizza, and my husband usually goes for a burger. Never any complaints. They've got plenty on tap and the drinks hit too. I love a good Electric Lemonade, but this time I kept it simple with an Angry Orchard. Now let's talk about what keeps me coming back... The steak. We got our old faithful, one of their signature steaks, the 10oz petite ribeye. This is exactly what made me fall in love with Turtle Bay in the first place. Normally it's around $13.95, comes with a twice stuffed potato and a slice of garlic bread. A DEAL. This time it was a little higher, but still under $15, which honestly is still more than fair with how prices are these days. And when I say it be hitting... it be hitting. Only reason this visit didn't get a full 5 stars? My steak was cooked a little over my liking. I usually go for medium, and this one leaned more done than I prefer. Not horrible, just not my usual perfection. But everything else? Still solid. The staff is always nice, always welcoming. I've never had a bad experience with them, and that matters. And I already know I'm coming back because I keep hearing the crawfish is FIRE. Yeah... I need to see that for myself. This is my happy place. Open 24/7, consistent, affordable, and just a real gem in the French Quarter. The Bay is Babe. Period.

The staff was a big rough around the edges. I inquired about their buffalo burger by asking if their buffalo sauce was traditional (buttery) or just hot (like Texas Pete). Our server/bartender proceeded to go off that it wasn't fancy, that this was a dive bar, and it's hot buffalo sauce, etc. All I asked for was clarification and trust me- I wasn't expecting something fancy by the look of the place. Again, it's a dive. I ordered the burger anyways. When asked what temp I said medium rare. The burger came out well done (pictured) but at that point I didn't even care and just ate it because I didn't want to deal with the attitude the staff had. Prices were reasonable. The rest of the table had mixed reviews about the food. The pork bbq sandwich my friend got (the sub looking photograph) was VERY good and probably best thing any of us ordered.

New Orleans version of a NY bodega is where I found one of the best and most adorable shrimp po'boys. You'll have to put these directions into your phone, because the location is in the depths of the neighborhood district. It's walkable to and from the popular Canal Street, just much quieter and secluded. You won't be able to park on this particular street, but near by areas would allow for street parking. This is in fact a grocery store with a hot food market setup in the back. I was pleasantly greeted immediately as I entered by a gentleman stocking, and a nice lady behind the register. I immediately darted to the back of the store and saw the setup, simple with a bit of updated technology. You can order and pay at a tablet style screen, and wait for the magic to be made on the other side. It took about 5 minutes and I got a text my order was ready, the same gentleman who was stocking called out my name from the back and handed me a 12 inch shrimp po'boy for 12.00. This sandwich was incredible, loaded with crispy fried shrimp and fresh lettuce. The bun was soft and very fresh, I added extra pickles for an acidic flavor breakup to the fried fish and dough. The flavors were on point, very seasoned and perfectly cooked shrimp. I was very impressed by the price and quality....not to mention customer service. Pro Tip: My van driver mentioned to me before dropping me off at the hotel, a lot of people walk Burbon Street and turn around when it becomes residential. But there is actually a ton of life and experiences to be had off the beaten path, both local and authentic.
