Original Slap Burger is in the very back of Marie's Bar. A little hard to find and they do take cards, despite the bar only taking cash. Staff were friendly and the turnover was quick. Seating is a bit tight, but there seemed to be a lot of takeout orders. I got the vegan version of a Big Mack and it was really good until I got to the middle of it. It was very heavily salted in the middle. Hoping it was a fluke. Otherwise everything was great!

Fantastic smash burger!!! I ordered the double with fries. One of the best I've had. 10/10 would recommend

    The menu.

We came here based on a recommendation from a fellow Yelp Elite! Smash burgers has become a favorite comfort food in New Orleans! And I have frequent cravings for it, so when we were told of the Original Slap Burger we had to try it! The Original Slap Burger is located inside of Marie's Bar and Kitchen in the Marigny. You have to walk through the bar to get there, but it is in it's own separate space. The space itself isn't too large and had limited seating. The vibe is super cute with lots of art on the wall. But fortunately we were there when it opened and got a good spot to enjoy our food. Food can be ordered at the window and then when your food is ready they'll call your name to get it. I got the OG Slap Burger and a side of fries. The burger and fries had a more premium look to them which also added to the taste! Both were good and I would definitely eat again. Definitely worth trying if you're in New Orleans! Service: You order at the window. The staff was super friendly and took the time with each order. Drinks: Full bar at Marie's Bar and Kitchen! Parking: Street parking.

I completely forgot to review this spot but as I was thinking about smash burgers I've had this year (and I'm from the east coast so I've had 7th street burger, Gotham etc.) I still think about this burger. Everything was perfect! The burgers were thin but massive, the cheese perfectly ooey gooey, the charred onions on top my goodness. The staff was quick with their service and everything was cooked fresh! Interesting tiny hole in the wall back of a dive far but if you find your way it's amazing. You won't regret it!

The bread (brioche), the patties, the grilled onions, the sauces... hands down the best smash burger in New Orleans. Gotta go double patty, and the heater (topped with jalapeños) and OG are phenomenal. If you're really hungry, the quad will put you 4 patties deep. The delicious brioche bun and chopped, grilled onions put these burgers ahead of competitors. The fries are perfectly crisp with a tender and satisfying interior. They remind me of Belgian frites. Seating outside is for all and offers beautiful views of its bywater/Marigny/st roch neighborhood; kids are prohibited from entering the building because of gaming devices. However, they will take orders outside if needed! Also - for drinks the bar is cash only. Neighbors are always present, enjoying a drink and a meal.

Was in the mood for a burger and we were driving around the upper 9th ward and this place came to mind. This place is inside of a bar you go to the back of the bar and order from a window. The young men are nice, quick and on point. While cranking these burgers out. Did i say how cute this bar is. It's a neighborhood spot and we had the pleasure of having a few drinks and laughs with Donald our bartender. I really enjoyed this Nola experience...

I went with my sister after a recommendation from a Yelp Elite member. The burger was said to be on par if not better than Bub's, so I came in with fairly high expectation. I had the heater and was definitely not disappointed. I really enjoyed the tangy flavor of the sauce and the meat was quite tasty. I would recommend a double though, as I wanted more meat. If you like Bub's, I think you'll enjoy this as well. The fries were good fresh, but nothing I would go out of my way for. The service was fast and friendly and we got to see everything made fresh! Ambiance was like a regular bar. The restaurant was in the back, but there were signs that led us in without issue. They also had cool decorations and a festive scary movie playing!

Good food good service. Foot is made to order and right in front of you. It's behind a bar and the establishment is clean and friendly. The cooks are welcoming also.

I've been wanting to try this place for so long! I really didn't like how dirty the bar was but I digress. You have to walk through Marie's bar to get to the burger place in the back. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I got the heater burger which was delicious and had the perfect kick. The fries are actually really good too. The bar in the front is cash only and they charge $3 for a small cup of cold drink

Burger joint tucked away in dive bar. The burger is good representation of a smash burger vs. the traditional style. Added bonus is you can order a drink while you wait for your burger. They make it to order, so it'll be piping hot and charred perfectly. Best to eat right away to take full advantage of all the flavors.

Slap burger is inside this bar to the back... Don't want you to miss out on a wonderful experience. No food picture.

The slap burger was good but seemed a bit salty. The service was fast and friendly. The ambience was cool because it is part of a bar. Good place to grab a burger from.

Veggie burger slaps hard. It's bussin bussin. The cooks were busy back there and they handled their business on the grill.

We paid Original Slap Burger a visit while in New Orleans and couldn't have been happier. They're located in the back of Marie's, a local bar with indoor and outdoor seating, so it's perfect to order then grab a beer while you wait. Let me tell you... those burgers are seasoned and cooked to perfection! The OG is a classic with insanely good Slap Sauce. The Heater was a great burger too, but it definitely brought THE HEAT. Spicy and delicious! I wish I had a Slap Burger back in Austin because I would be a regular.

Between my partner and I, we didn't spend more than $30 in this place. This place is super low-key; no expectations of dressing fancy one bit. This past week we visited and we could both tell right away things were different. The inside of the restaurant was filthy and I mean filthy. You could see the floor under the bar and in the kitchen hadn't been cleaned in months. The fryers hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. Everything just looked dirty and like no effort is put into cleaning and maintenance. We decided to eat anyway which was a mistake. We love their burgers that are cooked and steamed old school. We both ordered one. My wife ordered hers with bacon, which they charge over 3 bucks for. We both ordered our burger dressed with all the fixings. When my wife's burger came out it had no bacon and no fixings. I told the waiter and he said he would handled it. He never did as he started doing other orders. My burger had no flavor and it looked like the person that made it didn't care , which goes along with the restaurant cleanness. One thing that really turned us off was the was other guest were treated by staff. The "cook" was completely pissed off and had a horrible attitude. A group came in looking for a table and there wasn't room. He yelled at them that there wasn't room. They stood in the entrance area for a few moments and then he yelled at them that they needed to get out of the restaurant and wait outside. He told them this isn't a restroom so don't wait in line. The attitude and distain in his voice was overwhelming. A few minutes later a couple came in and found 2 seats at the bar. They decided to order food to go and was talking to the waiter. One of the 2 people ordering was standing behind the empty bar seat while they ordered. The cook yelled at this person that they needed to sit down. Both customers were stunned. The waiter told the cook they were making an order to go and the cook could be heard muttering under his breath. This little guy was nothing but attitude and seemed extremely pissed off the there. Maybe instead of being the restaurant traffic cop and total smart ass he should concentrate on getting orders straight since ours was screwed up and never fixed. Whatever charm this place had is gone along with the any effort to keep it up to clean standards.

I've been coming here for about 6 or 7 years now, and they are easily in my top three. The vibe? Dive bar, laid back, no fuss... but the FOOD? Don't sleep on it. Their menu is solid and I still haven't made it through everything yet. I've had the wings, which we actually got this visit but ate them so fast we didn't even get a picture. That should tell you enough right there. I've had the pizza, and my husband usually goes for a burger. Never any complaints. They've got plenty on tap and the drinks hit too. I love a good Electric Lemonade, but this time I kept it simple with an Angry Orchard. Now let's talk about what keeps me coming back... The steak. We got our old faithful, one of their signature steaks, the 10oz petite ribeye. This is exactly what made me fall in love with Turtle Bay in the first place. Normally it's around $13.95, comes with a twice stuffed potato and a slice of garlic bread. A DEAL. This time it was a little higher, but still under $15, which honestly is still more than fair with how prices are these days. And when I say it be hitting... it be hitting. Only reason this visit didn't get a full 5 stars? My steak was cooked a little over my liking. I usually go for medium, and this one leaned more done than I prefer. Not horrible, just not my usual perfection. But everything else? Still solid. The staff is always nice, always welcoming. I've never had a bad experience with them, and that matters. And I already know I'm coming back because I keep hearing the crawfish is FIRE. Yeah... I need to see that for myself. This is my happy place. Open 24/7, consistent, affordable, and just a real gem in the French Quarter. The Bay is Babe. Period.

New Orleans version of a NY bodega is where I found one of the best and most adorable shrimp po'boys. You'll have to put these directions into your phone, because the location is in the depths of the neighborhood district. It's walkable to and from the popular Canal Street, just much quieter and secluded. You won't be able to park on this particular street, but near by areas would allow for street parking. This is in fact a grocery store with a hot food market setup in the back. I was pleasantly greeted immediately as I entered by a gentleman stocking, and a nice lady behind the register. I immediately darted to the back of the store and saw the setup, simple with a bit of updated technology. You can order and pay at a tablet style screen, and wait for the magic to be made on the other side. It took about 5 minutes and I got a text my order was ready, the same gentleman who was stocking called out my name from the back and handed me a 12 inch shrimp po'boy for 12.00. This sandwich was incredible, loaded with crispy fried shrimp and fresh lettuce. The bun was soft and very fresh, I added extra pickles for an acidic flavor breakup to the fried fish and dough. The flavors were on point, very seasoned and perfectly cooked shrimp. I was very impressed by the price and quality....not to mention customer service. Pro Tip: My van driver mentioned to me before dropping me off at the hotel, a lot of people walk Burbon Street and turn around when it becomes residential. But there is actually a ton of life and experiences to be had off the beaten path, both local and authentic.

Entering through the tunnel you get the sense that you're stepping into a place you shouldn't really be and Sylvain seems to accentuate that with this secretive environment that feels almost like a cocktail lounge. The service was fantastic with the hostess seating us for our reservation right away and the waiter being incredibly patient and helpful during our dinner. We had someone in our party love the playlist here so much they asked the bartender for it as well. The menu is bold and complex but they were happy to strip it back to basics if needed. It was extremely cold in the restaurant though, so make sure to dress warm, especially in the colder months. We ordered their cast iron cornbread, chicken sandwich (no pickles or hot sauce), and their special of the night which was a pork-veal mix sausage on a milk bread bun and topped with sauerkraut. The cornbread was dry but the flavor was good. The butter they gave with it had cajun spices infused and gave it a nice zip although it was a bit too salty. Their fried chicken sandwich was delicious, light and crispy with salty shoestring fries that hit the mark. Lastly, their house special of the sausage was great. The sausage itself was well seasoned and the bun was soft and sweet. It was a bit salty with the added sauerkraut but the mix of flavors was still delicious. We also ordered a drink, just erotic not kinky, which was delicious. It's a bourbon with blackberry and lemon juice that was strong and refreshing at the same time. Sylvain is a culinary delight surrounded by an area that demands it. The food could be a tick better but it is still very, very good with fantastic service to bolster it. Whether you want a casual dinner or to drink cocktails in the French Quarter, this is a spot that is worth a look and your money, especially if you're with a big party.
