Been a lot of buzz about The Joint lately and was in the mood for bbq so had to check it out. Wasn't sure about parking, but needn't have worried. There was tons of parking all around the park across the street. Inside had something like 6 or 8 tables and a bar to sit at. They also have outdoor seating. You order at the register and they bring it out to you. I ordered the 2 meat 1 side combo. They didn't have burnt ends at the time, which I'm still dying to try. Instead I went with ribs and chicken with Mac and cheese. I've been getting used to bbq places bringing you small wimpy ribs, but this says two ribs on the menu it's more like three and some change they're so big. These ribs were so juicy, perfect amount of char, tons of flavor. Throw some of the table bbq to dip in and wow. Same with the chicken juicy, with a light crispy skin, and also even better with the bbq. Mac and cheese was also great. It was super cheesy and had a nice kick to it. read more

I have heard nothing but good things about the Joint so I was excited to try it. I dined inside and loved the decor all over the wall. I ordered the brisket burnt ends and the ribs with a side of baked beans. The food came out pretty fast. The burnt ends were delicious. Tender and seasoned well I also loved the bbq sauce. The ribs were okay. They were Luke warm so they got cold pretty fast and were over cooked. I enjoyed the baked beans and they give you a hearty portion. The Joint has been on our list for a while, so we headed down for lunch on Saturday. We got there too early for burnt ends, so I got a two meat plate with ribs, sausage and baked beans. It was so much food! I've gotten used to portions shrinking at BBQ restaurants, but that is not the case here. The ribs were so tender the meat fell off the bone. The sausage was juicy and came with a delicious dipping sauce. The baked beans were very flavorful. Can't wait to go back and hopefully try out the burnt ends. read more

I have been coming to this place for the last almost 10 years every time I visit this city. Brought family and friends here from Austin here during Mardi Gras and they raved, as well as ate. I have to admit, I was a little disappointed after being so excited to try this place. I saw The Joint on TikTok listed as a must-try spot in NOLA for classic Southern-style BBQ, so my expectations were pretty high. Funny story--we showed up just a couple minutes before they opened at 11:30 am, and there were already a few parties waiting outside since certain items tend to sell out quickly. The party ahead of us ordered the last of the first batch of ribs, so the guy taking our order let us know they were out. We went ahead and ate anyway, and after we had already left and were about to call an Uber, he actually came outside to let us know the ribs were available again. Since we came all this way for BBQ, we circled back and ordered a plate--big props to the staff for that! As for the food itself, it wasn't bad, but it didn't live up to the hype I'd seen online. I tried the brisket, brisket burnt ends, pulled pork, and ribs. A key flavor that felt missing across the board was sweetness--especially in the meat (aside from the burnt ends) and in the potato salad. The ribs were tender but could've used more BBQ sauce. The brisket burnt ends were the only cut that had a satisfying amount of sauce. The meat in general was a bit salty for my taste. Sides were hit or miss. The baked beans were a must-order--rich, flavorful, and easily the best side. The potato salad could've used a little sugar to round it out, and the mac and cheese was pretty bland, with a texture that made me wonder if it was from the day before. The key lime pie, on the other hand, was a standout--light, refreshing, and the perfect way to end a heavy BBQ meal. The neighborhood smelled amazing and I was ready for some amazing bbq. Now I know NOLA is not known for their bbq but I was hopeful. The service was a little lacking almost felt like we were bothering them for being there..the ribs were ok, not much smoke to them, the burnt ends were more like roast beef chunks but the sausage was good. Had to grab an Uber from the French Quarter to get to The Joint, but so worth it. We ordered brisket and a full rack of ribs, plus mac n' cheese for him and corn muffins for me, and we each went for "the Mac," this vodka tea lemonade drink that instantly became one of our favorites of our entire week in NOLA. What really made the experience stand out was how genuinely kind everyone was, the younger guy at the register, the woman behind the bar, and even another gentleman who checked on us mid meal. They weren't crowded, but you could tell they were slammed with day before Thanksgiving catering orders, and still the service was incredible. The BBQ itself? Best we've ever had. My boyfriend said those ribs were the best he's tasted, and he ate so much we ended up going back to nap instead of sticking to our plans. I also didn't realize until afterward that they have the cutest little patio out back. The whole vibe, inside and out is adorable, and the customer service was next level. The Joint is one of those places that you will eat at everyday if you find it on your first day in NOLA. The website said it opens at 1130 on Monday days, but at 1131 the line was already six people deep. After getting my food, it's easy to see why. The brisket burnt ends were huge and deliciously moist, unlike the usual dried out ends you receive at other places. The potato salad had excellent flavor, as did the mac & cheese. I have to stop giving out 5-star reviews because this place blows so many other places out of the water, I'm starting to think those other places didn't quite deserve 5 whole stars hahaha This little barbeque eatery and bar has that Bywater atmosphere that's divey and fun, but I'm not going there for the bar and the atmosphere, I'm definitely going there for the food. In my opinion, the best deal here is their $11 chicken plate that comes with 2 sides (options are corn bread muffins, mac and cheese, baked beans, potato salad, coleslaw). The chicken is AMAZING, and their sides are all delicious too. Their portions will leave you full and although they offer desserts, you may not have the room to spare for it! We also tried the 3 meat combo with 2 sides ($28) and got the ribs, brisket, and pulled pork. It's definitely enough food to be shared by two big eaters and leave them stuffed. The meats are all just PHENOMENAL. The ribs are slightly sweet and smokey, of course, falling off the bone. The pulled pork was juicy and flavorful. The brisket was fantastic, but also so tender, you can pull it apart with a fork. I am surprised I haven't reviewed The Joint before. This place has always been king of BBQ in New Orleans. We have a few BBQ restaurants that have popped up over the years which are tasty and I do enjoy, like Smoked in Haranan and Blue Oak, but The Joint has been around before those places and still reigns as the best in my opinion. The ribs are where it's at. And it is just a nice Bywater restaurant with outdoor and indoor picnic style seating. Great service too. Off street parking. And an occasional bar cat may dine near you. I came here recently and fell in love again. Not over the BBQ but over their pecan pie! OMG, I hate pecan pies and this one my heart sing. I pretty sure there is bourbon in there since this was the moistest pecan pie I have ever eaten. Maybe some condensed milk up in there as well? This is some of the best BBQ in New Orleans. Gonzo's Smokehouse, Smokin Buddha Bbqieux and Whole Foods are the only other Briskets available in New Orleans that I've had that come as close to being as tasty. I really like their brisket and I know a bit about BBQ (from spending considerable time at many of the best Texas BBQ places and attending the Memphis in May World BBQ Championship for many years). This would probably be a three star place in Texas or Memphis but on the NOLA scale of BBQ it is among the best. FYI for those that have never been or haven't been to the new location. There is no table service and you have to order at the counter all the way in the back. You can also call ahead to place your order. On my most recent visit this past Saturday night, even with the Hogs for the Cause event going on, there was a line of about 40 people going from the cash register at the order counter to out the door and around the sidewalk. This place is on the tourists radar now so do your best to either get there early or call your order in. Hopefully it won't be packed like it has been BUT from past experience expect a crowd. The benefit of calling your order in is that you get to just go to the bar to take care of it so you can have a tasty beverage while paying for your food instead of standing in the normal order line. I suggest avoiding the chicken as it isn't bad it just isn't great. The beef brisket is outstanding and ranks as one of the best in all of NOLA and is done Texas style. The ribs and pulled pork are also favorites of many people and those are Carolina style. You can get up to a three meat combo plate and I highly suggest you make brisket one of your meats. The sides aren't all that fantastic but who cares as it is all about the meat! The mac 'n cheese is pretty weak so I would generally advise against that, the potato salad is ok, the slaw is alright, and the beans would probably make most people the happiest, and finally the salad comes with a pretty tasty salad dressing lots of people seem to like. They generally give you really good portion sizes (much more than nearly anywhere else) and again the sides are "ok" but much less impressive than other places. It's been getting crazy crowded and longer waits the last several times I've visited. I've also recently noticed a lot more people calling in their order ahead of time even for dining-in. Hey, we found a "best BBQ in each state" list- and this place was it for LA. So, while visiting NOLA & having a lot of creole cuisine, we decided to try it. It's bigger than it appears when you enter- you put your order in at the counter& pay; go up to bar to pick up drinks, & relax til they call your name. Since it's BBQ already smoked& cooked, it comes out quickly, maybe 10 min? Very reasonably priced- 2 dinners(1 beef brisket +1 pulled pork, each w/ 2 sides, & 2 beers= under $40! The sides were somewhere between big& huge- I got potato salad & coleslaw, ate 1 & took the other home for next day. Liked the potato salad, minor hint of horseradish in it but not overpowering. Slaw needed a bit more vinegar, no problem as BBQ sauce(slightly sweet) + vinegar come on the table. Sides clearly homemade. Even hubbie's baked beans were homemade. BBQ flavorful/tender basically everything you'd want! Inside the door, decent sized bar, ordering counter& some tables. Beyond, a much larger (covered with/ ceiling fans) outsideroom beyond. Not fancy, but with paper towel spindle on each table, all you need for a great experience. Loved it and couldn't recommend more. Hope to return every time we're in town! Went to the Joint last night with several friends. The atmosphere was funky and relaxed. Prices were reasonable. Portions were good sized. Maybe it was just a good night, but I disagree with some of the previous negative reviews. I had the brisket sandwich, which was very good. I didn't care for the coleslaw. It was a bit too vinegary and spicy. A friend had the salad with pulled pork. It was a good size salad with a large amount of pulled pork. She said it was delicious. Another friend had the special...the brisket cheesesteak sliders. We all tried a taste, and agreed that they were delicious. We will definitely be returning. read more

The short, rainy walk from JAMNOLA to The Joint was filled with creole homes, broken streets and exactly no one else ‍ It was beautiful but so quiet compared the French Quarter. Walking into The Joint we decided to sit at the bar and were promptly greeted by the so friendly bartender. He was so kind. Cheers to Monday morning hospitality. He made a delish tequila mule. I ordered the W with 2 sides. Ribs, brisket and pulled pork. Mac and cheese and slaw served with a piece of toast on a beautiful silver tray. Two sauces to choose from. A thinner vinegar/Carolina style and a thicker, sweeter syrup for flavor. Everything was delish! From getting the last order of the ribs, that were falling off the bone. To the tender pork and sliced brisket, the Mac and cheese was insane! And the slaw was filled with vinegar. I can taste it 900 miles away as I'm sitting in my bedroom, facing south looking into the city of Detroit.
