Fried chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes, Mac & cheese, and a biscuit
    Julian

I moved to New Orleans in August for law school and hot stuff instantly became my favorite casual restaurant. I probably go too often and spend too much money, but wouldn't change it for a thing. The staff are incredibly friendly, the food is delicious & fresh, the portions are perfect, and the price is completely reasonable. Posting various photos I have but the white bbq wing sauce may be my favorite wing sauce I've ever had. This is the only restaurant I willingly order meatloaf at and walk out not regretting my choice (but am very pleased with it). Couldn't say enough great things 10/10.

Stopped by for the first time to try the fried chicken everyone raves about and it did not disappoint! I was so hungry that I failed to take a photo of any food, only a picture of the vintage poster inside. For sides I had the mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. Everything was so tasty. Service was friendly and they have a rewards program too! It's not cheap but fairly priced and the portions are good. And they have hand sanitizer by the condiments, which I really appreciate. Will be back to try more things!

Y'all. Like for reals, y'all. If you haven't tried here, who hurt you?! Why not? First off, it's a meat +3. That's not a requirement, it's a suggestion. You're going to walk in to the greatest service staff in the neighborhood. Always a welcoming smile, and great for a chat. Grab yourself a tray and work your way down the line, cafeteria style. Anyone who comes to visit gets treated with a visit here because it's great southern-style dishes that rotate on the daily. AND THEN, if that wasn't good enough, you can get some bonuses on the weekends - crawfish boils, and late night menu items like tenders and mozzarella sticks. Want a nice daiquiri, beer, or liquor with some mixer? They've got that covered too. It's a fantastic neighborhood joint that everyone should come visit. You'll never leave hungry or disappointed.

If you're into stick-to-your-ribs comfort cuisine with a blue plate special feel, please do yourself a favor a give Hot Stuff a try. The food was delicious, the ambiance was totally laid back, and the service was warm and friendly. I had the hamburger steak, mac and cheese, and a roll. It was kind of like being back in the 70's, but with people who had the culinary knowledge and experience of today if that makes sense. The hamburger steak and Mac and cheese were fantastic! My mom had the shepherds pie and it was a very unique version. It was an actual pie filled with the components of a traditional shepherds pie. Genius. She also partook of their bananas foster pudding. Get it. You're welcome. I'll be back for sure. Oh, and make a trip to the restroom whether you have to or not, and make sure you push the button.

Excellent comfort food that doesn't leave one feeling like it was too much. Delicious, amazing variety, swift and easy. Kind staff and ample seating make this a no brainer for lunch if you find yourself uptown near the universities.

Good ole southern style food!! Reminded me of going to dinner at church on Wednesday nights with grandmother. Menu changes daily which I like - all the food tasted REALLY good. Green beans just how I like em, and the cheese grits got a little kick to em just like they should. I would imagine if I went earlier than later some of the food would be more fresh (it is kept warm until it runs out). I had the fried catfish, mac n cheese, green beans, cheese grits, hushpuppies, dinner roll, and bananas foster's pudding. I can't wait to come back and try more! Good friendly service as well. (Please know I ate some of the food before taking my pictures lol)

I'm not a fan of waiting in a line outside so we made sure to get there when they opened since it was a Saturday. No line and we were greeted when we walked in. I was bummed that they did have fried chicken or wings but perked up when I saw stewed chicken. It was just being pulled off the stove. I ordered the stewed chicken with rice, collard greens, white beans and hush puppies instead of the roll. OMG the flavor!! The stewed chicken was delicious and the meat was soooo tender it fell apart when barely touched. The collard greens, white beans, and hush puppies were super flavorful and tasty. The decor of the restaurant was fun and funky like Turkey and the Wolf and Molly's Rise and Shine. The service was great and they came to bus our table when we were getting up to leave. We will definitely be back and I hope to get a chance to try their fried chicken and their wings!

This place is so good I came back two weeks in a row. The building itself is smallish looks like it used to be a neighborhood convenient store or something. Staff is very nice and helpful letting you know how everything works and makes good recommendations. First time went with hamburger steak gravy and potatoes, green beans, and Mac and cheese. The burger was juicy, the gravy super flavorful, and the mash pillowy. Mac and cheese was super cheesy and creamy. You pretty much can't go wrong. Today I went with fried catfish, cheese grits, hearts of palm salad. The catfish was super crispy, but still soft inside. Cheese grits were great. Salad was very refreshing. I might even go back next week and see what else I can try.

I'm a big fan of this style of eatery. It's nice to have another lunch counter in the city. The selection here is good, the service is really great. Quick friendly greetings and well displayed options to fill your plate. I chose fried chicken with greens and white beans. Unfortunately, it wasn't great, I'm not a fan of greens with sugar so that was a little disappointing. The white beans were okay but lacked flavor and were a bit mushy. I think they use a hot sauce batter and cornmeal for the chicken, so it has a vinegar flavor and the grit from the corn. Love the idea and would try something else. The sweet potato's and smothered chicken both looked good. Nice addition for quick lunch in the area though!!

This place really hit the spot in a way I cannot describe. I'm not sure if it was the nostalgia that did it for me or if it was the food. The way it's setup very much so gives that retro restaurant vibe. Every detailed seems to have been very well thought out down to the food trays. The portions are hefty and there are plenty of things to choose from. Service was great and the drinks were strong.

This is a cafeteria, a la carte style restaurant. We were very unfortunately there on "Italian" day, which means they were not serving the usual meat plus three sides - which was a huge disappointment. The food lacked flavor and was expensive for what you got. Keep in mind that they charge all orders a 15% service charge and will also ask for additional tip at checkout. There is no service that you're tipping for - you pick up your own food at the counter, get your own drinks, and bus your own table. I found the restaurant by doing a yelp search for banana pudding. The banana pudding they served was a "bananas foster" version and was overly sweet and nothing like traditional banana pudding. The decor is cute but the restaurant is extremely loud and you will have a hard time carrying on a conversation. We won't be back.

My friend and I loved our lunch here! We ended up buying three plates to bring home. Everything we tried was delicious! My personal favorites were the fried pork chops, catfish, and Mac and cheese (ask for it topped with stewed chicken, it's even better!). The menu changes daily. There are a good amount of seats/tables inside but they were all full when we were there. I would like to come back and try more food.

The restaurant was packed, and the staff was moving nonstop--but what really stood out was how smoothly everything was handled despite how busy it was. The food? Easily a 10/10. The chicken had that perfect balance--crispy and slightly spicy on the outside, yet unbelievably juicy and tender on the inside. You can tell real care goes into it. The greens were cooked just right with a subtle hint of spice that gave them great flavor, and the slaw had a light sweetness that complemented everything perfectly. Service was just as impressive. My server, Tashena, was attentive, friendly, and kept everything flowing without missing a beat, even in the rush. You could tell she genuinely cared about the experience. I also have to shout out the manager, Whitney. She was incredibly uplifting, constantly cheering on her team and keeping the energy positive and motivated. That kind of leadership really shows in the overall experience. Between the food, the service, and the atmosphere, I can confidently say this is a 1000/10 recommend. I'll definitely be back

Recently, I was craving a roast beef poboy and walked over to try theirs. It was outstanding. It came dressed with pickled purple onions and horseradish cream sauce. I've seen the Dong Phuong truck dropping off bread and king cakes so I know they're 100% keeping it local. Service can be a little slow but everything is made to order.

There is both covered and exposed seating, however all of the seating is beneath the canopy of an elder oak tree. The landscaping is carefully homegrown with beautiful greenery and pretty flowering shrubs to greet you upon arrival. There's also a stage where you can enjoy live music. Once inside, you're greeted by welcoming staff who are proud of what they serve. The interior is modest, with nice rustic carpentry. Bourrée is to Boucherie as Cochon Butcher is to Cochon. It's a wing and daiquiri spot, but the wings are natural (read: smaller than the hormonal wings we're used to) and the daiquiris are dry, just the way I like them. Mr. Tea is my favorite of their daiquiris because sugar isn't the first thing I taste, instead I'm actually getting that antioxidental brewed tea flavor. Never thought I'd want that from a daiquiri, but as it turns out, I do. Their fries are some of my favorite in the city: shoestringy with crispy ends, the skin still on, salty, and plentiful. We also love their version of fried Brussels sprouts which taste of maple-citrus with bites of Tasso mixed in for good measure. My only gripe was with the jerk wings which didn't taste of jerk, just spicy. And if I'm being honest, the wings aren't the best of what they offer. They make everything in house with quality standards as high as Boucherie.
