Taste of New Orleans wildlife...
Arnesto S.

I have been coming here for years and remains one of my all time favorite neighborhood restaurant in New Orleans. It's a hidden gem owned but sweet Sandy and is always here with a smile.. the food is amazing. The gumbo is to die for, very flavorful. The Cole slaw is unique and so good. Now the shrimp po boy is is so so good... always remember there are small owned restaurants everywhere and like the rest of us, struggle when times are bad and thrive when time are good and no matter the doors stay open to keep us amazing food and endless pours...

Chicken parmigiana

Thursday night is the night to go here for the specials. It is meatball and pasta night as well as chicken parmigiana night. The meatballs are massive and boy are they tasty. The red sauce is sweet and compliments the meatballs very well. The chicken parm is 2 huge pieces of paneed chicken breast covered in mozzarella on top of the same sweet red sauce and pasta. You will most likely leave with a box because the portion is huge. Get there early though because they do sell out. If all else fails, their fried chicken is still amazing.

Food and service were good. The star for me was the potato salad and the onion rings.

I would definitely recommend this hidden gem food is delicious they are busy most of the time,so service can be a little slower, but nothing wrong with a little wait if it's worth it.

In an unassuming location behind the gas station on Harrison street in Lakeview is a small little restaurant tha.. The outside looks worn, the inside feels like walking into an old family restaurant that might be last it's prime, but the spirit remains the same. The service is pleasant. The menu is classic. And the food tastes like it sticks to your ribs. We came on a Wednesday evening closer to closing time, so it wasn't very busy. There were two other groups in the dining area and a few people at the bar (FYI, no draft beers). Our waitress was friendly and I have no complaints there. We ended up getting a 2 piece fried chicken dinner and a chicken and ribs combo. When you come to a place with "chicken and ribs" in the name, I think you need to give both a try! I will say that the food took longer to come out than I expected, considering how few people there were, but it's not fast food and it's an excuse to enjoy the company that you are with. So how was the food? Fried chicken - Excellent. Very crispy, perfectly seasoned. Some of the better fried chicken that I've had. Mashed potatoes - also very good. The gravy was the best part and had tons of flavor Ribs - very tender. Literally falling apart when you grab it. Good flavor but my biggest complaint is the sweetness of the BBQ sauce. I know this is a personal preference so I wont ding them for that, but while I like a sweet BBQ sauce, I generally prefer BBQ sauce that isn't this sweet. Corn on the cob - nothing special. I thought it said you got 2 on the menu, but they only gave me one. Not a big deal. It was boiled and tastes like boiled corn on the cob. Potato salad - pretty solid Rolls - decent Overall a nice local joint. We will be back! Ambiance - 3 stars Food - 4 stars Service - 4 stars

This was our last stop before hitting the airport back to California! Was a great meal! Fried chicken is finger licking good! Our server Chris was hilarious. We really enjoyed his sense of humor.

As a parent of a young boy that doesn't like to sit still very long, I tend not to eat out as much as I used to. However, as of lately, now that my son is getting a "little" older, we have started to venture out again. Although I have dined at Dixie Chicken & Ribs several times in the past, it has been a while since my last visit. When faced with a choice of where to eat, I sometimes forget about Dixie, as it is not easily visible from Harrison Avenue. But our most recent visit has reinvigorated my interest in this restaurant. The restaurant is casual and inviting, and the décor "almost" lends a slightly upscale feel. The dining room is modestly sized and there is an attached bar with additional bar seating as well. By 6 PM, especially on a Friday or Saturday, this place fills up quickly, so keep that in mind unless you want to wait for a table. I have eaten several items from the menu and have yet to be disappointed. Fried catfish: Just a little bit of spice lets you know you're in the South. It's just enough heat to let you recognize it, but not enough to be an issue for kids or people with sensitive stomachs. Kudos to getting the breading just right. Served as strips rather than filets. Grilled catfish: A little bit of pepper goes a long way to make this grilled option delicious. I like that they give you 2 nicely sized filets. Onion rings: Hand cut, big and seasoned perfectly. This is a great appetizer. Kids chicken strips: In my opinion, these is one of the best kids' meals in the city. This aint no frozen chicken, but rather juicy strips of sliced chicken breasts. In fact, it's almost enough for an adult too. Fried chicken: Perhaps not an award winning chicken, but it holds its own against some of the city's more popular offerings. The pieces are always hot, juicy and nicely sized. Hot sausage poor boy: Another solid offering that won't steer you wrong. Not sure if it's home made, but it may possibly be Patton's hot sausage, which is no slouch. I have been very fortunate in that my last few visits, Julie has been my server. Julie is a great server. Even when the restaurant is full, she picks up her pace so that she covers all her tables with the same level of attentiveness as you would expect when the restaurant is not crowded. I would definitely ask to be seated in her section, as a great server will make your food experience even better.

Amount of food doesn't equate to $36.00. The food is tasty, but it's not worth the price.

The seafood and the string beans are tasty. Unfortunately, the amount of food doesn't equate to the price. Local seafood markets, like Castnet have double the amount of food for that price. This is considered a seafood platter.

The restaurant was packed, and the staff was moving nonstop--but what really stood out was how smoothly everything was handled despite how busy it was. The food? Easily a 10/10. The chicken had that perfect balance--crispy and slightly spicy on the outside, yet unbelievably juicy and tender on the inside. You can tell real care goes into it. The greens were cooked just right with a subtle hint of spice that gave them great flavor, and the slaw had a light sweetness that complemented everything perfectly. Service was just as impressive. My server, Tashena, was attentive, friendly, and kept everything flowing without missing a beat, even in the rush. You could tell she genuinely cared about the experience. I also have to shout out the manager, Whitney. She was incredibly uplifting, constantly cheering on her team and keeping the energy positive and motivated. That kind of leadership really shows in the overall experience. Between the food, the service, and the atmosphere, I can confidently say this is a 1000/10 recommend. I'll definitely be back

It was outstanding. It came dressed with pickled purple onions and horseradish cream sauce. That, with some seasoned fries, was a great meal. I love that they partner with Dong Phuong for their bread and they use Blue Plate mayo. I've seen the Dong Phuong truck dropping off bread and king cakes so I know they're 100% keeping it local. Service can be a little slow but everything is made to order.

There is both covered and exposed seating, however all of the seating is beneath the canopy of an elder oak tree. The landscaping is carefully homegrown with beautiful greenery and pretty flowering shrubs to greet you upon arrival. There's also a stage where you can enjoy live music. Once inside, you're greeted by welcoming staff who are proud of what they serve. The interior is modest, with nice rustic carpentry. Bourrée is to Boucherie as Cochon Butcher is to Cochon. It's a wing and daiquiri spot, but the wings are natural (read: smaller than the hormonal wings we're used to) and the daiquiris are dry, just the way I like them. Mr. Tea is my favorite of their daiquiris because sugar isn't the first thing I taste, instead I'm actually getting that antioxidental brewed tea flavor. Never thought I'd want that from a daiquiri, but as it turns out, I do. Their fries are some of my favorite in the city: shoestringy with crispy ends, the skin still on, salty, and plentiful. We also love their version of fried Brussels sprouts which taste of maple-citrus with bites of Tasso mixed in for good measure. My only gripe was with the jerk wings which didn't taste of jerk, just spicy. And if I'm being honest, the wings aren't the best of what they offer. They make everything in house with quality standards as high as Boucherie.
