    Rick's Grille was my first stop for food in New Orleans and I absolutely had to go back before leaving. My experience was outstanding. The service was top notch, they were very welcoming and friendly and the food was absolutely DELICIOUS! I ordered the Philly Mushroom Melt on both visits and it was made right in front of me and seasoned perfectly. I will definitely return on my next trip. Best Philly I've ever had!

    Who would ever think to walk inside an office building to the back left corner of the second floor to eat at Rick's Grill when in a city like New Orleans? Thankfully some other yelpers did and steared me this way! Be prepared to yell out your order even when you're six or seven people back in the line. The surf and turf is a Philly cheese steak that also includes some Cajun grilled shrimp. with cheese a little bit of mayo on a warm and slightly toasted miniature loaf of bread. the sandwich is garnished with a sprinkling of lettuce and tomatoes so you don't feel so guilty, but with the amount of steak you hardly notice it, which for me is just perfect. I was torn between the fries and onion rings but no one seems to order of the onion rings, so I tried the fries. They were perfectly cooked, despite being rather basic fries, slightly crispy on the outside warm and soft on the inside. I'm sitting here pretty stuff in this office food court, all for about 12 bucks. My only recommendation would be to spice up the fries a little.

The salmon was crispy on the outside with a nice sauce over it. We thought we'd have time to get dessert so we ordered a couple but that too took a very long time. We finally waved down our server to cancel and get the check since we had to be somewhere and he apologized and said their WiFi was going in and out so it could be that it was registering on the kitchen side. That may have explained why our entrees took too long. If it wasn't for the service and the food being great - I would not be thrilled about timing. We got there around 5:30p and had to leave by 7:15p so an almost 2 hours experience that probably could have been 1 hour.

During my conversation with the manager, the rude staff member returned to our table, hands balled in fists and had to be asked to leave. It took the manager several minutes to get her to walk away. While we didn't let it completely ruin the evening, we did cut our visit short as she was near the buffet when we went to get more food. While we received a round of comped drinks, that in no way makes up for the encounter. One person's lack of professionalism--and the manager's inability to effectively address it--made this experience disappointing. I'm hesitant to return, as encountering that staff member again would be enough to turn us away.

If you've ever been in a chain hotel lobby, you can probably close your eyes and conjure the carpets. There was lots of seating, though, and it was a comfortable, easy place to hang out. A convenient meeting point even when I did end up leaving the hotel. The bartenders were decent, though it was hard to get their attention when the place was busy. I had a hell of a time paying for my very wise and virtuous afternoon Diet Pepsi. That was the only non-alcoholic beverage I got here. The rest of the conference, I drank draft Abita and bourbon, and several solid Sazeracs, with rye, Herbsaint, Peychaud's bitters, and simple syrup. If you're a tourist in New Orleans, please don't drink at 55 Fahrenheit. Save your time and health for the myriad bars that await you outside the Marriott. But if you're there for a conference with a lot of fun people, grab a Sazerac and sit down.

(We had reservations for a table but often prefer the bar.) The bartender -- whom we believe was named Mike -- started off his interaction with new customers as follows. "Did you check with the hostess?" I nodded in the affirmative, apparently that wasn't enough. "Check with the hostess", he ordered. I got up, went over the hostess stand, and confirmed, this time so "Mike" could see, that it was OK for us to sit at a half-empty bar. (In retrospect, we should have gotten up and walked out immediately, but it was late and even in the Quarter most places were closing for dinner.) You see, Mike clearly didn't want to be working that night. He was rude, inattentive, and condescending. And not just to us, to everyone seated at the bar. Slow making drinks, slow asking for orders, seething contempt for his customers. One time we asked to see a drink menu to decide on a new drink, he said, and this is a direct quote, "Do you want to see it or do you want to review it?" Mike's behavior was clearly well-known to the staff, because another staff member, who was off-shift and next to us at the bar, witnessed this behavior and arranged for a free dessert on the house (classy move on her part). She confided in us that Mike's pretty much always like that, but that he's a buddy of the general manager so seemingly un-fireable. Well, here's hoping someone reads this and thinks the better of Doris Metropolitan, or at least sitting at the bar. Unless you think service you'd get in a Paris tourist trap cafe is appropriate for a high-end steakhouse, you're better off spending your hard-earned money elsewhere.

Totally reasonable pricing, and excellent meals, topped with the Always Summer (Malibu rum, Triple sec, OJ, Pineapple juice, Grenadine, $13). The place filled up pretty quickly after I arrived at around 10 a.m. Andres did an outstanding job of keeping track of my order, and served up the menu items piping hot. Couldn't finish it all, but it was a best-choice for brunch this morning.
