WH CEO Joe

Happy 4th of July! We are visiting our daughter in the Navy stationed at JAX. We got to eat with diner royalty this morning at Jax Beach Waffle House! Joe is the equivalent to the Waltons and owns the entire WH nationwide! He just happened to be at this location today. He visits each and every WH nationwide and enjoys talking to customers. Everything was top notch as one would expect with the Top Gun visiting!

Great menu with lots of yummy choices

Wow! I'm blown away! Ive never been to a Waffle House, and was amazed. I expected bottom of the barrel experience, but what I got was nothing short of amazing. I was greeted as soon as I entered by the two wait staff.. the place was like a diner in decor, and clean. We chose our seats with a nice view of the busy street, and we're welcomed again with menus . Our gracious waitress was Rita. She was so sweet, very knowledgeable about the menu, and even made helpful suggestions. We ordered, and our food was brought to us hot, and fresh. The patty melt was delicious. The hash browns were on point. Rita refilled our drink's promptly, and she even allowed me to get a selfie with her. She instructed me to go to the Walgreens to print it out so I could be on her " wall of Fame!" I did just that!!! Her wall of fame includes many Jaguar players, and even the owner of Waffle House! I made the wall of fame!!! I highly recommend this great restaurant for delicious hot, and fresh food with a totally welcoming experience. Rita really made my day! I'll return for breakfast soon!!

Have not been to Waffle House in over 15 years. Still the same. Good for quick breakfast. Service always friendly and efficient, obviously order waffles, I had pecan. Grits are good.

I usually don't eat at waffle houses because in the past I've had bad service and bad food. This time the food was out of this world the service was absolutely amazing and I will definitely go back!!!!!!

The bars close, you're hungry, so where do you go? Waffle House, of course! I very rarely cross the ditch to the beach, so I'm not really sure when I'll be back to this particular location, but hubby and I did have a good experience here. It was after 2am and they weren't very busy. I was surprised since it was a weekend and the bars had just closed. The restaurant was clean. We had a great server. She got our order correct and kept our drinks refilled. She was also really friendly. Our food was cooked perfectly. You wouldn't think cooking over-medium eggs would be a difficult thing, but surprisingly enough, I get them all the time with the yellow completely cooked. ICK. I will not eat eggs with the yolk completely cooked. They got my eggs cooked perfectly though. Hubby was extra hungry, so he actually ordered two meals. Maybe that was because he'd been drinking all night? LOL He ordered two of the Texas Lover's BLTs with a double order of hash browns. It must have been good because he devoured it. Next time I find myself over the ditch in the middle of the night, I wouldn't hesitate to return here.

They can go half orders! I had a half order of the sausages egg and cheese hash brown bowl and a pecan waffle. The breakfast bowl was very filling and tasty. The side of sausage gravy was perfect to have on the breakfast bowl. I would order this again. I love the pecan waffles and that is what I order every time I am in a Waffle House. I eat them plain without butter and syrup usually but occasionally I get the peanut butter chips added. They are so so so good. This place is inexpensive dining that is done very well. Not fancy, but really well done and consistent between different waffle houses.

I would never eat here again. The waitress was horrible and spit in my food right in front of my face. Disgusting.

The atmosphere was really nice, not over the top extravagant but you'll want to dress to impress. The food for happy hour was excellent. We started off with drinks, beer and a gin drink similar to a bees knees (also enjoyed a French 77 later in the meal). Then bread service, with oil and three types of whipped butter. Good service of bread, moist and flavorful- worth the $9. We moved to the lobster bisque next, super rich and great flavor, service with a seasoned long cracker. Meals, the pork chop- tender, over melt in your mouth mashed potatoes with chopped apples and grapes on top- great flavor. We also had the salmon, with spinach, sun dried tomatoes, and goat cheese over a mushroom mixture, savory and great mix. Unfortunately we were beyond full and didn't opt for dessert, but I was eyeing the affogato or an espresso martini. Delicious and overall reasonable. We will be back to try more.

We had a view of TVs for football although the timing of the TVs was way off-- showing the same game on multiple TVs and they were all delayed and off. Our server was friendly and prompt. We ordered a few appetizers- southwest egg rolls and Chipotle ranch wings. The egg rolls were cooked perfectly. For entrees, the kids got cheeseburgers and Mac n cheese. They all much preferred the burger over the Mac n cheese. Adults ordered the garlic smash burger, the buffalo chicken wrap, and the cheeseburger wrap. I thought the cheeseburger wrap was great- the sauce made it taste like a Big Mac in a wrap. Our friend also really enjoyed the garlic burger- great flavor and very juicy. It was a fine place for an easy Saturday dinner with pets and kids.

The pool tables were also removed. The service was great, but the food was not. The theme was "overcooking" the night we were there, and everything was overcooked and dry. My son ordered a medium-rare burger that was well done. The garlic burger lacked any flavor of garlic. The chicken wings lacked any flavor, and were so overcooked that we left them behind. The salad looked as if the kitchen simply opened a bag of pre-mixed salad and dumped it into a dish. The shrimp were clearly pre-frozen, and lacked flavor (Mayport shrimp are right up the road, hello??). The salad lacked dressing, but the served offered additional teriyaki sauce (which is not salad dressing, but did offer some flavor). This is sad renovation to a great burger place. The bar still has many beers on tap, so there is some hope.

I had my first meal there when I visited Jacksonville Beach recently. Got the grilled bone-in yellow snapper, which was a daily special. Fresh, meaty, smoky. It was served with mixed greens and apple salad, some grilled green onions and freshly made corn tortillas. All paired well with the fish. The tortillas were about 0.75oz per piece. Moreover, the dish was served on a HUGE cutting board! I also ordered a side of Spanish rice, but surprisingly the manager took it off from my bill, saying that "[he was] glad that I enjoyed the meal so much"! The first meal was indeed impressive; it had been a while since I had had such Mexican food last time. So I decided to give it another try the next evening. Ordered the Carne Asada (asked for rare) and sub the beans with extra tortillas (to avoid high GI food). But the steak was disappointing: the first time it was served ~medium-well. The second time it was ~medium-rare so I did not complain twice. However, it was quite chewy. One reason was that, as you can see from my picture, the meat was not rest long enough before it was sliced and served. Service was good, friendly and quick. The restuarant was a bit noisy but I enjoyed the energy. Moreover, there were lots of beautiful decors and murals. I really like the tiger painted on the wall of their main dining area. So in short, I would recommend this restaurant if you like Mexican food. I would recommend the seafood and slowly-cooked stuff, like their short rib and pork shank. And I will dine in again the next time I visit Jacksonville Beach.
