Was a loyal grom fan for many years, but management and owners were noticeably negligent within the past year. Poorer food quality and less cleanliness. Flies, grime on the floor, and always sticky tables. I witnessed a high school age employee place the lid of the sweet tea directly on the floor when refilling. Thank goodness I got my refill before. Have had so many good experiences here since ownership changed, but the past few times have been a let down. 55 plus minutes from order until food came today. Restaurant was busy and our order was taken quickly but the staff just didn't seem to be working efficiently on the line. Seemed like there were plenty of people working just not sure what was going on. Past 3 times the subs have been mid, with non crispy/strange tasting bread and Inconsistency on the toppings. I have been twice now. Once for breakfast and then again for lunch. The Samoan breakfast burrito is very tasty! I do recommend. I had the chicken salad wrap for lunch. I tasted too much of the cream cheese spread. It was okay, but my boyfriend got a sub and his sandwich I thought was more tasty than mine. There is a secret menu available. The location has parking, but this place is a beach hotspot, so parking maybe limited during lunch hrs, especially on a Sunday. Cool indoor vibes. Looks like the quintessential beach restaurant. Came for breakfast, and it was delicious! Fland's Favorite was the main reason we chose here and it did not disappoint! It's a generous serving, prepared fresh, and absolutely delicious. The restaurant is fun and unique, though a bit small, so I'm sure it gets packed during peak times. The music was entirely too loud though, especially for 8am. Our server was so sweet and kind, and they had a "college fund" tip jar for the servers, which definitely indicated they are supportive of their young staff's future endeavors. Really unfortunate experience the past two visits. My husband and I loved coming to Grom and frequent this restaurant before football on Sunday mid mornings, however the past two times have been all but outright bad experiences. I didn't Yelp the last time bc I didn't want to jump to a bad review but now that we've had the same experience twice, it's becoming a pattern and sadly, we will likely wait awhile before returning. Ordered at 11:31 and heard another cashier telling the people next to us that food is taking about 30 mins right now. We placed our order and walked down to the beach for about 20 mins, came back and food didn't come out for another 35-40 mins, it took just under an hour for two subs. I want to give the benefit of the doubt that they were busy as it was a beautiful day but seemed to be poorly operating. There were a ton of staff working just all in disarray and not handling the rush well. Also, food quality has diminished the past few visits. This time, my sub was totally wrong but I didn't say anything for fear of waiting another long period of time for the right order. They were also out of Diet Coke, some chips people were asking for and tables were super sticky and messy. We love this local spot and hope they can turn around and get back to the Sunday spot we know and love. read more

Grom has been a local favorite of mine since 2016! I love coming here before or after going to Jax beach, it hits every time. The Peruvian is a classic, it has salami, ham, Cole slaw and cheese. Their new chicken Philly was also really good. If you like a little kick in your food, try the Amarillo sauce with the hot Peruvian. It adds a little spice but it's not overpowering. Found Grom randomly when I was looking for a place for takeout near the beach. Holy moly where has Grom been all my life? I ordered the blackened shrimp breakfast tacos. The cashier had a great recommendation to add the plantains as a side. Everything came out quickly. These tacos were amazing! I tried Grom for the first time recently. In my first experience, my niece's husband walked from the beach and brought us back breakfast. If I had gone on my first experience, the stars would have been low. Note to self: Don't order avocado toast unless you are dining in, and especially not during a heat wave;) My second visit was a few days later. I was back at the beach for sunrise. This time, I drove to the restaurant after leaving the beach. The decor was cute with a dive vibe. There was a Sorry board game and an old TV with a built-in VHS player. Talk about old school. My friend and I ordered breakfast. I had biscuits and sausage gravy with scrambled eggs. They grilled the biscuit, which I liked. And the gravy was yummy and seasoned well. I also enjoyed the scrambled eggs with cheese. I would definitely stop in again for breakfast. Next time, I think I'll try the fried chicken biscuit. read more

My husband loved his chicken biscuit w home fries, but my aunt and I were not in favor of the avocado toast. They dropped the ball with that one. The toast was very soggy and not toasted, there was green peppers when that wasn't listed on the description, and the eggs on the side we got were not cooked correctly. The Grom is a Jax Beach beach staple i've been going to for more than a decade. If you like Angie's Subs, this place is for you. While they offer many similar sandwiches as Angie's (is or used to be owned by the owner of Angie's) they also offer an excellent breakfast and lunch/dinner menu outside of just sandwiches. On this occasion, I got three sliders - pulled pork, bang bang shrimp, and the Peruvian. All were excellent and never disappoint. My favorite will always be the Peruvian. Same thing as an Angie's Sub, just in a slider. You can also never go wrong with their sweet tea. Always hits the spot! The owner hires local kids and is active in the community. Nothing fancy, meaning regular toast, but I'm for it. Sausage biscuits x3- Good flavor, good size, comes with a side and while one enjoyed the grits with cheese and chives, two has the fruit-- and it's a lot of fruit, yummy grapes and pineapple. My first time coming here!!! Was pleasantly surprised! I've been to Angie's subs before but never to grom, so today was the day! I got the bacon egg and cheese biscuit sandwich, which was fantastic. I got a side of grits with it which was delicious. Mom got the lifeguard breakfast sandwich and a fruit bowl, she enjoyed both. Interior of the place is cozy, they have a vhs tv with movies along the back wall, plenty of open seating inside, board games to play while you wait (we played "Sorry" for a bit), and seating outside as well. We were really looking forward to trying this little seemingly good-reviewed spot off the beaten path. Sadly, the food was so sub-par that we couldn't even finish it. I had Breakfast Sammy. Should have been an easy meal, but scrambled eggs were so dry and mealy that they fell out of the sandwich with every bite. The whole sandwich was awful. Fruit cup had no ripe sweet fruit. It was bad. My bf had Breakfast Wrap. He said it was pretty awful too, bland, dry, etc. The Chef needs to learn how to make fluffy, moist scrambled eggs. It would have made a gigantic difference. Maybe when ordering it would be best to ask for your scrambled eggs to be "a little under scrambled". Or have the Chef watch a Gordon Ramsay YouTube video on how to make perfect scrambled eggs. Loved the trinkets and treasures decorating the room, they have some locally brewed beers on tap. The homemade sweet tea was killer and delicious loved it! Our table had a plethora of choices no one had the same thing: we had one chicken and shrimp wrap with plantains, one avocado toast bread, one fried pork sandwich with rice and beans and I got their Peruvian sandwich because the name had me curious! Overall they each had a delicious kick for tastes offered and that held a great yes! Once you arrive you order at the counter and if dining in they call your name to bring it to you at the table, for 4 of us who ordered back to back from one another there was actually sometime between the pace of all of us getting our meal so we can eat together size. I waited 45 minutes for a breakfast sandwich to go. The place wasn't even very busy. The food preparers were standing around talking and BSing and not working. One of them kept eating while he was prepping food. He kept putting his fingers in his mouth and then continued to touch the food he was making. This is a serious health code violation. read more

The issue with Grom is their staff is unable to provide estimates 'wait times' when picking up your order. Apparently, the kitchen staff is unable to assess approx how long an order will take to prepare. Could be 20 min...but the hostesses will be told 10. I wouldn't normally write a review about this , but this seems to be an ongoing issue which management is unable to correct! read more

Fountain drink cups are huge and can be taken to go. Good spot for boozy brunch with mimosas, seltzers and beer on tap. Be careful when you go, don't go if you're in a hurry- there is not much space/seating!! Staff is quick and nice. I've done a review of this spot before, but it's 5 years old, so thought I'd update it. I must say, nothing has changed, and that is terrific as their food is great, their staff is great. Their sliders are so good. I wish I lived closer as I would visit much more often for sure. They were out of the Reuben slider today, which I haven't tried, and will definitely go back to give it a taste soon, so I went with my standby, the Peruvian and the Pork. Both never disappoint, and top it with their Gold sauce and you're in foodie heaven. I usually go with their rice & beans (which are amazing!), but opted for the potato salad. It was very good too. You can order one, two, or a three slider combo with a side. Even though they may look small (after all they are sliders!), trust me, they fill you up. My sister got a brownie for us to share on the way out the door. It was the size of your head, I swear! Tasty, moist, with a little bit of chewiness. Yummy! Staff is always friendly and helpful. Place is cute. They haven't opened up outside seating yet, so doggies can't come back just yet, but hopefully soon. From the outside, this place isn't anything to write home about, but the second you walk in, you feel this amazing, friendly, inviting vibe and you know you've picked the right place. The walls are totally decorated and there's even a small little gift shop up by the register. We loved our breakfast here! I ordered the breakfast tacos, as recommended, and they were incredible. Think: elevated stoner food. Honestly, I was surprised by how much we enjoyed our food at Grom. Such a hole-in-the-wall spot, but their flavors pack a full-sized punch! To anyone going to Grom for the first time, I can't recommend their shrimp enough. Specifically the shrimp sliders and the Mary Jane wrap. (I did also order a pimento pork slider. While it was pretty tasty, it just couldn't outshine the freshness and sweetness of the shrimp in our other food items. But it deserves an honorable mention.)
