Blueberry waffle
Amy L.

I came in not really having any expectation of what this chain had to offer since it was my first time in Texas. At first I was a bit taken back on how much trash and food bits were on the floor in the kitchen and the tables. I was told that the dirtier the location, the better the food tastes, and man were they right! Their menu is pretty small and simple, I went with the cheesesteak melt combo along with the blueberry waffle. When I took my first bite of the sandwich, I was shocked at how good it was. Obviously toasted with a pound of butter but it was so worth it. The blueberry waffle was also surprisingly tasty - it was pretty simple yet hit all the cravings that I didn't even know I had. I'm definitely going to be returning if I'm ever in Texas again for some good cheap eats.

10$ even for a bacon burger ?!? Ridiculous! Bacon Angus Cheeseburger (1/4 Lb.)

Disabled parking - but TERRIBLE service and discrimination towards a disabled family with a 3-year-old.

THE WORST SERVICE I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED & DISCRMINATION AGAINST A 3-YEAR-OLD. I grew up going to Waffle House and was excited about sharing their breakfast with my 3-year-old son who is blind & immobile as a victim of brain damage - because he LOVES food. I walked in ahead of my mother and son and asked a woman at Waffle House if there was anywhere specifically we should sit because we had a stroller and didn't want to be in their way. She pointed to the bar. I asked if there was a booth so we could interact with my son, she said "sit anywhere." Then we did. There were 3 other tables. After about 5 minutes of waiting, I told him we were ready to order. He said he had to take another order first. Okay. No problem. He seemed nice enough. The server came over and he waved at my son, and I smiled and said, "this is Waylon. He's blind and can't see you but he can hear you. What's your name?" He said, "Tony." I said, "Oh, Tony! Waylon - his name is Tony - like from West Side Story." He didn't reply or smile or even look at Waylon and we proceeded to order. In the middle of our order, he just left...and left us wondering. He went to get food and deliver to the other tables. My mom suggested "maybe he thought we were finished ordering?" So after Tony finished delivering food to the other table, I said nicely "oh, we just needed to finish our order". And he said with annoyance and without looking at us, "I have to deliver hot food." Okay again. Then he went to the kitchen and reached for the coffee pot like he was going to refill a table's coffee! He then heard more hot food was up and put the coffee pot down and went back into the kitchen. Keep in mind - there are 4 staff members back there at this time! He delivered the food and I thought surely after waiting for 10 minutes now, he'll take our order. Nope. He went back and got the coffee pots to go refill coffee cups on other tables We had not even gotten drinks or ordered. I said, "Can we PLEASE order? This is unreal." He ignored us. And continued to. I looked at my son who was actually enjoying these new sounds of Waffle House and wanted to cry. I realized what this was and it broke my heart. My mom saw I was about to go and said, "let's just go." And so we did, but not before I walked by and told him that I would be contacting the Waffle House media team because his service was deplorable. Not mention discriminat I knew we would experience this at some point. I just didn't think it would be at one of my favorite nostalgic Texas breakfast spots... And certainly not when he was so young. 3-years-old, Waffle House. He's 3 years old. Shameful.

The perfect breakfast...

Always available, always affordable, always tasty...and sadly, very often undervalued. I have been multiple times to many of their locations over the years, and not once had a bad experience or a bad meal. Their staff (probably one of the most underpaid in the industry) is all the time welcoming and attentive. Go visit them if you haven't yet, and don't forget to tip them well.

When you're in the mood for yummy cheesy eggs, perfect hash browns and a chocolate chip waffle, You really can't beat Waffle House for the price. Surprisingly, Waffle House also has some of the nicest workers you'll ever find in the business, including this location. Sure, it's not brand new or sparkling clean, but they really try to give customers a great experience and I think they succeed. Note: The armed robbery WANTED poster on the front door was a little unnerving but then I thought to myself 'Self, what are the odds that the guy with his face on the poster on the front door comes back to the same Waffle House to rob it again?' Glad I took my chances! :o

Over the years, They have added grilled items that are quite tasty, but Ima go for the fried anything along with mashies, baked beans, etc. The chicken and dumplings are heaven on earth anytime of the year. Prices are decent, considering the economy these days. If you dine in, there's staff that are happy to help you get your grub to the table, will make sure you have butter and honey for the fluffy buns, and smile no matter how busy it gets. Leaving a buck or 2 is not expected, but a nice gesture for their efforts. Blanca sez check'em out!

Noticed ladies working in the dining room to assure tables are clean as soon as customers leave. Once your meal is ready, they will call your name or someone will bring it to your table. Retro decor. Loved the music. Located across from SMU. You have the college crowd, residents from the neighborhood, grandparents with their grandchildren, and drive thru all buzzing with conversation. I found the chicken livers lightly battered, crispy on the outside and very tender meat on the inside. Mashed potatoes, gravy, and green beans were my sides. All tasty. Add additional seasonings and pepper sauce if you prefer. Be sure to check out the banana pudding. I requested extra meringue. Dessert was made fresh and tasted great. Pick-up, drive through, or dine in. Side note: Although there is no place for a tip when paying for your order... I always leave a tip on the table or hand it to the ladies working there. Much deserved for their hard work, friendly smiles, and pleasant attitude.

Service was great and attentive and we enjoyed the whole dinner. It's an older cafe (the first Norma's, I believe). We'll be back for the good homemade food. A couple behind us bought two whole pies and they looked great, but we were way too full to order any for ourselves.

This place does get packed at lunch but food comes out fast. For lunch, I recommend the Roast Beef in Brown Gravey, Fried Okra, Corn Bread, and another side of your choice. Delicious! The restaurant wasn't particularly busy, but it still took about 5-10 minutes before we were seated. We ordered coffee, a Western Omelette with cheese, a Spanish Omelette, and pancakes with orange juice for the kids. The coffee was excellent, the omelettes were decent, and the kids' pancakes were delicious. The biscuits and toast on the side were also really good. Unfortunately, the hash browns, sausage, and bacon were disappointing. If you enjoy a 1950s-style diner vibe with friendly, welcoming staff, this place nails the atmosphere. The food, however, was a bit of a mixed bag.

We had the most wonderful waitress, Nancy. She was attentive and spot on with making sure our needs were met. (Mostly with ketchup). They don't have bottles of ketchup because somebody's, rotten, unsupervised kid filled a ketchup bottle with crayons. UGH. Could have been a lawsuit for this diner. You now have to deal with tiny cups of ketchup for dipping. How sad. Our waitress brought us sauce, Tabasco and Louisiana sauce. Personally, we're a Cholula sauce type of family. Hopefully, they will add this choice to the menu for a table offering. Everything, we ordered to eat was delicious! Hubby had the pork chops which I thought were chicken fried steak. The coating was crisp and perfect for the 2 pork chops. He loved them! Plus the mashed potatoes were 100% real potatoes! The white gravy was great. You can also choose to have brown gravy if you like. One of our kids had catfish. Our fault for not ordering it to be crispy. No biggy, the portions are gracious. Comes with cornbread. I had the burger. You'd think at a diner it would be greasy and gross. However, far from it! The bacon was crisp and the condiments on top the burger were fresh! This place is nothing fancy. Lots of nostalgia. The food is like eating at home. They do offer a senior citizen discount! I'm sure they also offer a military discount, however I did not ask. For being a "hole in the wall" restaurant, off the beaten path, I recommend this place! My family loves these kind of restaurants. No flare, and the food is always so darn good. The wait staff is impressive! The food is satisfying and the nostalgia makes this place worth a visit. March 2025
