The restaurant has a really cool, nostalgic atmosphere with vintage signs, records, automotive décor, neon lights, and even a giant hot dog hanging from the ceiling. There's so much to look at, and the whole place has a lively, casual vibe. Of course, you can't go to Portillo's without talking about the food! Everything we had was fresh, filling, and really good. Their classic Chicago-style comfort food definitely hits the spot, and the portions were generous. It was the perfect kind of food for a casual event where everyone could eat, mingle, and enjoy themselves. I also liked that they have self-service kiosks if you want to skip the line and order quickly. The staff was friendly and accommodating throughout our visit. Overall, I had a great experience. Between the food, fun atmosphere, and the Southwest Airlines and National University event, it was definitely a memorable visit to Portillo's in The Colony!

I ordered my usual char-broiled double cheeseburger, fries, and onion rings, which never disappoints. I also decided to try the char-grilled Maxwell street Polish sausage with sport peppers and cheese sauce. Unfortunately, the Polish sausage was underwhelming, and the cheese sauce tasted like canned cheese from a dollar store. Both are items I wouldn't order again in the future. The customer service continues to be top-notch, and ordering through the kiosk was fast and easy.

I really enjoyed the beef sandwich and I always get it baptize. I like to order extra dipping sauce with it so I can just drown it haha. My favorite are the hot dogs, which is what they are know for. I love the chicago style dogs and I love adding ketchup and mustard to my hot dogs. For the side I really enjoy getting a side of cheese and dipping my fries into it, thank me later. The onion rings are also worth a mention, they are well made, crispy and full of flavor. I also had their shakes before and they were pretty good. I once had their chocolate cake and it was very rich in flavor and not dry at all like other cakes. I always eat in the diner because I love how they have decorated the space. It reflects the history of the city of Arlington. It is a mix of car decor honoring the GM plant and part of the decor is also bowling, to honor the national bowling museum and headquarters located in arlington. I love how its so big and spacious. They also sell beer but I never purchase any but thats a cool concept. The staff keeps the place nice and clean, i love how they say your order number and make it rhyme with something. Cashier was very soft spoken. It was hard to hear her over the background noise of the restaurant. Ordered: Cheeseburger + tater tot (combo) $11.77 Bacon cheeseburger + onion ring (combo) $11.79 That price difference is a bit odd. Combos only come with the burger and side. Drinks are a la carte. $4.02 for both drinks. The strawberry lemonade option was terrible. Tasted like water. We think it was out- but it was a rich color. Got sprite instead, which was good. Food came out in like 5 minutes. ------- Burgers were mid. Not in my top ten. I wouldn't return for burgers, but maybe to try the hot dogs. Lacked seasoning. The taste of the tomato on the burger overpowered the meat, since it didn't have much flavor. Cheese was nicely melted on the burger. It was an ok size. The tater tots were some of the best I've had. Couldn't finish them all. The size tater tot could be split between two people. The Onion rings can't though.... They were good too. Spicy ketchup wasn't good imo. Some of the Ketchup packets were sticky. . I believe you get charged If you use your card for purchase. My friend used cash and it was a different price. The owner takes feedback well and I only knew about this restaurant because he posted in a foodie group on Facebook. I stated I would come out and try it, and I did. If the burgers get a diff season blend, and/or hand formed Patties (these were perfectly circular) I would come back and try them again.

I'd leave zero reviews for this place if I could!…read more I am extremely disappointed by my experience at Joe's Smokin Inc. My partner and I had been standing in line for over 30 minutes when a group of four men walked up, cut in front of everyone, and were allowed to order. Before doing so, they repeatedly directed racist slurs at us, calling us "n*****" and "black ass." We immediately brought this to the owner's attention. Instead of addressing their behavior or asking them to return to the back of the line, the owner allowed them to purchase their food ahead of everyone else. As the harassment continued, the situation escalated, and I responded with an offensive remark of my own that I regret making in the heat of the moment. When security arrived, the owner identified my partner and me as the problem. Security then began threatening to use mace on us, despite the fact that the other group had initiated the confrontation with repeated racist slurs. What is most disappointing is not just the actions of the individuals involved, but how the situation was handled by the business. Every customer deserves to be treated with fairness and respect, especially when they are the target of racial harassment. I expected the owner to address the discriminatory behavior, not reward it by serving the individuals responsible and then portraying us as the aggressors. After years of supporting this establishment, this experience has ensured that this will be my last visit.
