They nailed the crispy texture, and the hot lemon pepper seasoning had the perfect punch of heat and zest. The Fries: These were a huge highlight. You can taste the difference they use real potatoes, and the seasoning blend they toss them in is absolutely amazing. Tried them for the first time today. I placed an online order that was supposed to be ready in 30 min. It took about 40 min but that's okay. I walked in and loved the hip hop/r&b music. Some cute, slim, chocolate dude with pretty eyes and a baseball cap worked the counter and handed me my order. I ordered the Southside 6" cheesestake & wings combo. The cheesestake was beautiful in presentation but tasted bland and mid. The wings were delicious! The fries were good and reminded me of Wingstop fries with that hint of sweet. I wanted to love this place and had really high hopes for it as well however this place missed the mark. We walked in and the place has a whole vibe of its own. The music is pumping loud, you got folks at tables playing games and the line went to the door. I had heard great things about this place so I decided to stand in line and wait. We waited for more than 15 minutes in line where the cashier seemed to be talking and chatting with each customer (great customer service being given I guess) but this line ain't moving. We finally get near the front and I attempted to pick up the menu on the counter and a little girl behind the counter basically slapped her hand down and stopped me. Cool, maybe I'm not suppose to move this one so I grabbed the other menu so I can know what I want before I get to the cashier. We order our food (they get your number and will text you when your order is ready) and take a seat where we proceed to play games while we wait. Now I will say that by the front door there is a sign letting you know that they are not a fast food but they prepare each order as it's ordered and recommend that you run an errand, go chill in your car or take a seat and play a game. We waited an hour for the food. Yes, a whole hour for 2 sandwiches, fries and a kids meal. So let's talk about the kids meal: it stated that it's two sliders (and I specifically asked the cashier two small sandwiches) with fries and he said yes, however I was also charged for a drink that I didn't ask for. However when we picked up the food I didn't have a drink and I had to ask the guy where do I go to get my drink and he reached into a cooler and pulled out a bottle of what looked to be red kool-aid (which we don't drink). So we get home and these sandwiches left me feeling like I just got GOT! The kids meal looks like a hamburger bun (not two sliders) with some greasy meat on it and a slice of yellow cheese slapped on it. The fries were even worse - they were so over cooked that they were dry and even burnt in places and covered in what I'm assuming is season salt. I took this as a loss and ended up tossing it. First time here. I went for the Philly Cheese Steaks but was informed that for 28 days they would sale them only at the fair. That doesn't make a lot sense to me. What about the people that don't want to go to the fair. Guess labor cost is too expensive. So, I decided to get the wings instead. $10-20 The wings are some of the best I've had!! DELICIOUS!!! The carrots with the wings go great together!! The Jay Drink was too sweet for me. The customer service was great. Saturday 2ish. We waited 20-25 minutes Ordered: Philly cheesesteak plain x2 One large fry 2 of the daiquiris , one a true suicide with all 3 flavors mixed. She said she liked it. I had the green and blue flavored mixed. It tasted like cough syrup but baby listen. It did what it was supposed to do (disclaimer, I had a Monaco prior). The cheesesteak was basic. I just expected more. 3/5 Then damn fries though????? Yes. Yes again. I'm not a fan of hand cut fries at all, but these surpassed wingstop for me. 4/5 The drinks -- only get them if you've already been drinking and need that last push. They are $8 and not worth that. The establishment- parking was shared with several other businesses. Inside, we sat and waited at a booth. They have games (uno, dominos, connect 4, rubics cube, etc). The uno cards were mad dirty. I had to go to the restroom to wash my hands before I ate. Bathroom was a 2/5. The soap (Walmart purchased pump soap) was filled with water. I washed my hands 2-3 times to get a lather. The paper towel dispenser was empty. There was a small bit of paper towel on TOP of the dispenser. Exposed. Nah- the bathroom isn't it. I feel like they should check on that often. One person stall. Didn't give us napkins or ketchup . Luckily the fries didn't need them. If I returned, I would for the fries loaded with Philly cheesesteak. I don't need the sandwich again, I don't think. Inside of restaurant has several booths, a handful of 4 top tables, and a bar counter with row seating. Restaurant stayed consistently busy while we waited on our food. Daughter had the Northside which had a cloud of cheesy heaven over meat and banana peppers. Only negative was she would've loved more peppers on the sandwich. The Plain Jane was a classic Philly Cheese Steak with mounds of perfectly seasoned steak. Chicken, bacon ranch was juicy and tasty. Also tried the Kool Ranch and 14k wings. They were perfectly cooked and sauced. Bone in wings can be light on meat, but these were very meaty. Our family had mixed reviews on the fries. These are hand-cut fries served plentifully as side. The potato part of the fry was cooked exactly as fries should be cooked. The split decision fry reviews came from the seasoning. The fries were covered in spicy sugary dust that got all over the wings and sandwiches. The young woman working the counter was very professional AND kind. She offered suggestions to make sure we had the best version of our orders. We did end up eating in our car because the volume of the music was painfully loud in the seating area with chair jarring bass. It was seasoned, meaty, great amount, and so flavorful. I had the dime bag and one pre rolled blunt for my meal. When I tell you it was the best take out food I have had in a minute. Well, this place has a whole vibe, and if it's not your vibe, you may want to call your order in or go to another establishment that sells cheese steaks. When I walked in, there was already a long line. They have a sign by the door that sets expectations, that you would wait at least 15 to 20 minutes to get your food because it is cooked fresh. You can wait in your car. You can stay inside and play games, or you can go run an errand. They have games on every table. I stayed inside. It took me about 15 minutes to get through the line to order my food. I would highly recommend that they have menus available in the back while people stand in line. I think it would make the ordering process go by faster. They do have a digital screen, but you can't really see it good until you get toward the front of the line. I ordered my food at 6 05. I didn't get my food until 6:54. I ordered a 6 inch Philly with chicken and beef with cheese, and I got a 12 inch Plane Jane and a large fry. I was told that the food was so good that I would definitely be back. So when I got to my car, I went ahead and took a bite of my cheese steak and my fries to see if it was worth the wait. Well, my fries were definitely not a large even though I paid the large price. They were ice cold, not fresh at all. Food is amazing every time we order! We've tried the SouthSide cheesesteak, hood tacos, pre rolls, and wings! The drinks are so sweet and good but could be too sweet for some. The music is loud most times I come in but not always and I always order to go so I'm not sure how sitting inside would be with the music but that would be why didn't give 5 stars. I think most people wouldn't mind though. They have quite a lot of seating as well in my opinion. The service is good in my opinion as well. The women at the front counter are always so nice and give good suggestions. The cooks are nice and speak as well when they do come out to give you the order. I feel like they put a lot of work into this food . Wait time is never an issue for me, I don't think I've ever waited more than 15 minutes. Usually it's about 10 especially when they're not busy. Plenty of flavor here, I grew up around the area with my mom working at the MLK center. Recently this popped up and as someone that loves cheesesteaks this is a place to check out. In comparison to Geno's in Philly it's not a TRUE sandwich because they don't have sweet peppers, but it's pretty damn flavorful. They have several different options of steaks available and cheeses. They offer Kool-Aid, soda, and some other types of drinks along with funnel cakes and ice cream. The theme is true throughout, Traphouse vibes, trap music, with the city skyline vinyl wrapped all around the interior. Might not be the most kid friendly place if you don't like trap music/profanity, but they can wait in the car while you get your food. Service was great too, the people we nice and good for casual talk. The waitress was an old woman, that reminded me of my grandmother, extremely kind and made sure we had utensils. Located right up the block from the state fair of Texas, I been hankering to check out some hole in the wall food from sunny south Dallas . The restaurant in itself it not too entirely big but the interior design and decor is a nice vibe. Customer service was very helpful as this was my first time trying. The woman provided me with some good tips and advice on some popular items. Everything is made to order which is great and food was hot, the wings were tasty but the Philly was mediocre , I was not thrilled at all. Philly tasted bland and I know a few places that have better quality. Wings had some good flavor, however they were over seasoned and salty. Glory, glory oh my I love the food here! So, I'm looking for a good hot pepper cheese steak, in a area I'm not familiar with....soooo I Yelp a few places and decided on this location based on proximity to my current situation! I'm so glad I did. First, it's a shady area in a cheap shopping mall. I'd say hole in the wall but it's located in a storefront. Upon entering I'm greeted immediately by a kind, patient friendly cashier. They have so many options of cheesesteaks it's kinda overwhelming. I settled for "The Answer" pepper steak/chicken, fries, queso cheese onions on a soft bun, it's delicious along with a combo meal of wings with sweet and spicy sauce and blue cheese dipping sauce oh my word!! The side ...hot fries with some type of seasoning sooo good! Meal included a drink as well. So much food! I had to drive back to hotel about 20mins away and my food was warm, not hot but I gobbled it down! So happy of my food choice today. April 2023 S U M M A R Y I found a Philly better than Cheesesteak House in Oak Cliff! Yeah this is a gem. Finger licking good (though a tad salty at times). These were the best things that I had hands down!! My only complaint is that we got two and one was really small. Mine was a little salty (and I like salty food) but my sister's wasn't (and she hates salty food). Chicken cheesesteak : my sister got this so I did not taste it but she really liked her Philly. She gave it a 4/5. I am sure that it was delicious because it's the same feeling that they put inside the egg rolls which I absolutely loved. Steak Cheesesteak with provolone : I got the 8 inch. It was a great size. The meat was filled to the brim. I asked for extra onions and extra peppers which it definitely had. The meat was seasoned to perfection. It was very good. Wings : We got three different flavors: barbecue, hot lemon pepper, and the Bruce Leroy (hottest they had). The wings were a great size but I would suggest that you request them to fry them hard and wet if you like the skin crispy and you like to have a little extra sauce. Fries : these are homemade, hand cut and perfectly seasoned. Absolutely no fault here. I love homemade fries. I love cake and I tried to get a cake but they only had one cake left which was socket to me or something like that. A flavor I would never consume!!
