Unbelievably amazing food, even better service. I loved the space it was so tranquil, while being elevated. Can't recommend it enough -- perfect for a girls night or date night.
Good quality sushi - but way overpriced in my opinion. More for ambience. it is a beautifully decorated restaurant. They have the standard 'lux' sushi items such as toro and uni, but overall its too much fusion items such as spicy tuna, California roll that you can get at other sushi spot , though an effort was put in to differentiate themself - such as the the California roll is made with 'wild blue crab' its not a return for me.
This place is special. Drive slow or you might zoom right pass it. But, when you find it, you will fall in love. This is not a place for drenching your "poke bowls" in spicy Mayo. The Wabi Sabi Bowl is for those who truly want to experience the delicate yet complex flavors in each bite. Each ingredient has purpose and is plated as such. The plating and service dishes are artful without trying hard. The service is non intrusive yet attentive. The ambiance is simple and minimal, wabi sabi at its best, allowing you to peacefully enjoy what's in front of you.
Fresh, high quality, but pricey Wabi Sabi popped into my radar a few weeks ago so we decided to give it a try. Just a recommendation, the seating is limited, the restaurant is popular, so a reservation is highly recommended. The experience starts the moment you walk in. The environment is perfect to enjoy a meal, balanced music, welcoming decoration, and seating arrangements for different party sizes. But let's talk about the food. The menu is basically split into 2, a selection of bowls that go for around ~20, and different sushi variations. The bowls are decently portioned, with a delicious mix of ingredients. As for the sushi, all the pieces that we tried felt fresh, high quality, delicious... but portions are small (around 40-60 per person). So if you are someone who truly values fresh high quality fish and you do not mind the price, Wabi Sabi is great. On the other hand you can always go for a bowl and have a great experience. My Criteria 5 stars: The best food I have ever had, or an excellent option given the price. 4 stars: Good food, a restaurant I look forward to trying again. 3 stars: Good food, a restaurant that I am indifferent to. 2 stars: Below average experience, will not go again. 1 stars: This restaurant should be closed.
I give this spot 4.5 stars. Going with 4 on yelp though because of price for value. Great: - Hotate nigiri, absolutely mouthwatering - Hamachi bowl with the grain mix - Spicy tuna maki - Cool atmosphere Solid: - wabi sabi bowl and maki - negitoro maki, good but the spicy tuna was surprisingly better Bad: - Steep price tag, for leaving barely full - California Maki, very plain especially for $16 *ouch* have had much better blue crab from blue ribbon I'd be curious to try an omakase here eventually, but it's not top of my list. Will definitely come back to try the rolls and bowls we loved.
What a fantastic meal. The food, service and ambiance is perfect in my book. Our Waiter Bruno was professional, polite and explained the menu and all the fish they were serving us. If you know seafood and love excellent imported fish this is the place to go. We started off with the spicy tuna roll, California roll and the scallops with a cold draft Asahi beer. The rolls were very good and the scallop dish was fantastic. For our main course we had the Wabi Sabi bowl and the Omakase nigiri dish. The fish selection prepared by the Chef on the Omakase nigiri plate was fantastic. The assortment of fresh imported fish from Japan was exceptional. I never cared for sea urchin but when you have good quality imported sea urchin you will never care for the local sea urchin. I was fortunate that the chef served a combination of Ikura and sea urchin sushi that was incredible. Another nigiri piece served on the dish was fluke fine and I have never had a piece like that. For desert we tried the Japanese cheesecake with a warm strawberry sauce on top that was real good. What a great place for Japanese sushi.
First of all, this has to be one of the best sushi experiences I've ever had in my life. It came highly recommended from a chef friend of mine so I traversed you the NBV neighborhood to indulge. While it might be hard to find (and park at) the quality is certainly worth the hunt. The interior is designed with an uplifting and minimalist trend focusing on their decorative wall. We grabbed the high top seating and commenced our nigiri tour as we drank a bottle of the Sleeping Angel sake. While the variety is limited, they've managed to properly procure the finest sushi-grade fish and roe to truly make the menu the perfect mix of Japanese heaven. I started off with a wakame salad as I sipped on sake. We ordered most of the nigiri rolls on their menu in efforts to take a tour of seasonal Japanese fishes. I'll admit the mackerel nigiri was quite scary at first with its silver skin resembling a piece of leather but the taste ended up proving it was actually one of my favorites. The salmon roe roll had a instant taste on my palette of what a Malta tastes like as the mixture of the soy sauce and wasabi coating the roll took the flavors to another dimension. I've always been a fan of uní and they served a nice hefty portion on their nigiri roll. We had an extra carafe of the sake after the bottle was done since it was so delicious. I'd highly recommend this fine restaurant for those seeking high quality sushi. Explore the menu and order outside of your comfort zone, you'll see how eclectic your meal can get.
Not easy to find. Expansive dining room that seats perhaps 25 people. The menu is mostly bowls with Japanese inspired toppings, and sushi by the piece. Service was awkward yet attentive. Very limited selection of sakes and beers. Ordered the salmon bowl and yasai (vegetable) bowls. Tasty but not very memorable. Prices are okay.
This gem of a spot was tough to find, and parking was also a bit challenging (street only), but none of those count against my amazing experience here. When I first walked in, the server and the head chef greeted me with warmth and excellent smiles. The decor was charming and cute, like a modern Japanese coffee shop. The service was excellent, fast, and friendly, and the shop was spotlessly clean. Onto the food- The chirashi was the best bang for your buck in my opinion. It had the standard three in top notch quality- salmon, tuna (which I got a fattier cut than normal Akami), and yellowtail. It also came with sea bream (one of my fav) and Japanese snapper, which are both usually pricier fish in the US. I got an additional order of the uni and scallop tamaki/sashimi, which I feel like were a bit more overpriced. They were great quality, and the nori was perfect, but I personally don't think tamaki should ever cost that much... I wish they would get rid of their poke' bowl menu and expand the other menu. Will definitely be back to try more!
Wonderful service and friendly staff. The fish was all very fresh and delicious. We all loved the food. If you're into beer, they have a very limited selection. Interior is decorated very nicely and I admired the wall of cranes. Even their bathroom is super nice and has bird sounds like you're in nature. The only complaint is that there were flies and mosquitoes constantly flying around us and the food. My friend got bit several times and we had to keep swatting away flies. So it would be more enjoyable if management can take care of that. Buy some anti mosquito lanterns or something?
Chirashi bowl sold for $42 ! Yes, $42 for takeout order. Look what I get. Very disappointing...only 12 very thin slices and no fancy species at all... Not even close to what they show as the "Chirashi bowl" on the Yelp and Google.....

This small hole in MiMo has the most delightful ambiance with a light airy feel to enjoy some delicious fresh sushi. The staff is extremely friendly and so quick. I am obsessed with the the little brush for soy sauce so that the sushi isn't drenched! It really is in the little things. Just fresh fish and great technique for a beautiful experience. read more

I almost want to gatekeep this place, but Wabi Sabi is too good not to share. Everything about the experience is exceptional. The green tea alone is a standout--whipped to perfection with a foamy top unlike anything I've ever had. The sushi? Incredibly fresh, buttery, and melts in your mouth. One of the small but thoughtful details I loved was the soy sauce presentation--it comes with a little paintbrush so you can apply just the right amount without overpowering the fish. It's those kinds of touches that make Wabi Sabi special. Dessert was just as impressive: a seasonal Japanese strawberry that was perfectly sweet and an unforgettable ube mochi that was unlike any I've tried before. It's now called Midorie but it's the same as Wabi Sabi. I asked why they changed the name and it seems another company copyrighted the name before they could. So they changed their name to match the other restaurants they opened. Everything in the menu is fantastic. No one in Miami has higher quality fish and the specials they have are sooo good. I usually stop in for lunch and have a bowl and it's the best. Must try their noodles in the bowl and their sesame ginger. Super chill, small but beautiful little place. read more

My favorite restaurant in the whole world. The fish is always fresh and the service is fantastic. My husband and I come here when we want to spoil ourselves. Worth every dollar. Totally recommend the salmon avocado, eel roll, wabi sabi roll and nigori sake. read more

Some of the best sushi in Miami! Start off with a little salad. The sesame ginger dressing is made in house and so good. The fish is always fresh. They have bowls as well as nigiri, sashimi and temaki. Favorites include the sake as well as the hotate. Great little neighborhood spot! read more
Oh WOW! So my boyfriend works at Morimoto in Boca and said to check this place out because he heard the food was really good and I'm impressed the food was SO VERY GOOD!! Ordered the Wabi Sabi over rice and I definitely recommend trying it. The salmon and tuna was absolutely delicious, good quality and fresh fish which is great and for the price you definitely get a nice sized portion so it was very filling. The restaurant is on the small side but done very well. The front windows bring in a lot of natural light so it made the small space feel larger and inviting. There are plants hanging from the ceiling and the walls all throughout the restaurant which I thought was really nice it definitely added a very unique touch. One wall is covered in little paper cranes in all kinds of colors and it was absolutely stunning... Will definitely be coming by for lunch, this is definitely one of those hidden gems that are worth coming back for! read more

I visited the location in North Miami with a friend. It's decently priced, but I didn't think it was worth it. It wasn't bad, but it was a bit disappointing and not memorable. I've heard good things, so I'm hoping I just went on an off night. My friend and I were basically the only people inside. For the price I'd rather much go to Sushi Yasu Tanaka, omakai, or maybe even Sushi by Bou for a bit more. read more

Food quality met expectations. Service was at par. No complaints and nothing to really brag about. The ambiance and decor were homey and intimate. Overall, good place to go and eat quality sushi. The omakase was a bit overpriced IMO solely due to the fact that all the sushi courses are brought out together on one dish versus an omakase that is prepared/served in front of you. read more
After reading all the stellar reviews for this place you'd think going here would be like experiencing the second coming of the sushi gods. But after coming here, all we got was sushi that seems like it was made by someone who dropped out of sushi making community college and a big ass bill. Not to mention we were left to stare longingly at the empanada shop across the street while still starving. I know the golden rule of sushi: fresh fish isn't cheap and cheap fish isn't fresh. But another golden rule is that if you charge a premium, then make an effort. The Wabi Sabi bowl was super bland; you shouldn't have to douse it in sauce for it to taste good; just a plain Jane poke bowl at best. We also ordered a few hand rolls, but they were tiny (more like finger rolls). And cold rice in a hand roll? Cmon! And don't even get me started on the canned crab meat in the California Roll...CANNED! These guys needs to step their game up, they have to do better. I guess I'm just spoiled by the sushi in NY (Sugar Fish I'm looking at you). TL/DR: they charge too much and their sushi isn't any better than the stuff in publix towards the end of the day. Disappointed and won't be back. read more
I'm voting this the "easiest to miss" restaurant that I have been to. It's located in a building that doesn't have any visible sign except for a window etching and if you blink you will skip right by it. Parking is street only. Inside you will find a haven for poke bowl lovers. They also have other options such as hand rolls. It's authentic and it's mighty tasty with enough sauces and combinations to keep you coming back. Hey, who put the aviary in the bathroom? You'll know what I'm talking about, it's an original concept. Loved the decor: simple, elegant and ample. Found some menu items pricey compared to other high quality Japanese restaurants. Don't miss going here though, it's highly rated and earned it. read more

Wabi Sabi By Shuji had been on my list for a while and I finally got to try their food via delivery during COVID times. I ordered the Wabi Sabi Bowl ($22) which comes with salmon, tuna, wild blue crab, cucumber, seaweed, edamame, avocado infused with yuzu, scallions, shitake mushrooms, and tobiko over your choice sushi rice, soba noodles, or mixed greens and sauce (I went with sushi rice and spicy sesame soy). All the ingredients were very fresh. However, even though the bowl looked exactly like what was pictured, the portion size seemed small. All in all, a great healthy choice if you have the budget! read more

Restaurant deserves more than five stars. The location is beautifully decorated by handcrafted origami made by the chef herself. Service was fenomenal starting from the second we walked in the door. They have the freshest fish I have ever had in Miami. Very detail oriented and accepted special accommodations. Will definitely be going back! read more

Wabi Sabi is the art of finding beauty in imperfection. Recently returned from my trip to Japan, I was craving some authentic Japanese food which is not easy to find. While visiting Miami my first time, my yelp page was littered with sushi places. I was pleased to discover this hidden gem! The restaurant is in an unassuming storefront with parking in the back and may be easy to miss if you aren't looking for it. Once inside, you are greeted by naturalistic decor. From the 400 paper cranes forming a giant mural on the wall to the hand made table and tree boughs with hanging terrariums (made by the chef), we knew we were in for a treat. Wabi Sabi has a limited menu of Pokebowl type dishes and the ability to customize your base with sushi rice, chasoba, multigrains or mixed greens. I picked the wabi Sabi bowl which was a mixture of tuna, salmon and crab with the chasoba (matcha soba) base while my husband got the tuna bowl. We also ordered the Yuzu (japanese lime with hibiscus flower) and barley tea drinks. It's impressive they press their own juice and make almost everything in house. The hostess explained all the dishes to us. But before we sat down, she came over and asked how I knew about Yuzu and I explained we had recently been to Japan. We had a lovely 20 minute conversation with her as we talked about our trip and then asked the best things to do in Miami. After our food came, both my husband and I were silent, enjoying the fresh sashimi, edamame and soba in our bowl. It was very light and refreshing. I really enjoyed sitting down with almost no crowds in a beautiful ambiance savoring great food. The barley tea and Yuzu were also flavorful and palette cleansing. Of course, we could not leave without trying dessert. The Matcha Panna cotta hit the right balance between the sweetness of the matcha cake and the sourness of the raspberry sauce and creaminess of the panna cotta. Dining at Wabi Sabi was like no other Japanese restaurant I've ever been to in the states. In fact, if I closed my eyes, I'd almost feel like I was back in Japan again. My experience at Wabi Sabi was nothing but perfection. A beautiful, highly enjoyable restaurant that all Japanese food lovers must try if you are ever in Miami. read more

Dashi near downtown was one of my finds of last year's Miami Spice. I loved that place so much I went every other week. Hurricane Irma stretched Miami Spice for another month, which should be great news, except that Irma also destroyed the restaurant. Fortunately, unbeknown to me, chef Shuji had been preparing to open his own place, and Dashi's closing allowed him to focus on his new project... Such as folding paper cranes origami... Which will draw your attention immediately as soon as you walk into the space. So lovely, so colorful, so elegant, so delicate, each one different from the other, their wings lifting your heart. (Yes, I can't resist taking a million pictures of them!) Together with the light wood furniture, hanging air plants, and beautiful Japanese ceramic, prepare you for a delicious experience. As a newly opened place,the menu is rather limited. Chirashi sushi bowls (no, don't call them poke! Though I suppose poke evolved from chirashi) with choice of salmon, tuna or veggies; for base, besides rice and mixed greens, you can choose chasoba tea noodles. I've tried that at Dashi and it was delicious, and I can highly recommend it, even though as a traditionalist I've stayed with rice. I was a bit disappointed with the limited choices of fish, when chef Shuji mentioned his omakase chirashi. For $35 you get a substantial upgrade of fish, including sea urchin and roes. When Shuji brought my bowl to me, he topped it with seaweed shreds and yuzu zest, which totally elevated the dish to another level. So grateful that Shuji has opened his new place. Look forward to its continued evolution, as they will be adding sake and beer, other dishes and kaiseki! read more

BEST sushi you can have in town. I mean, this is the most authentic Japanese food you can find. Fish are always so fresh, everything is made from scratch, service is amazing. This is a MUST go if you like AUTHENTIC Japanese food. read more
