Our first time eating at this location. The 3 stars is for the small portion of kale salad & over cooked/dry salmon. I literally had a hard time separating the salmon in pieces with my fork. The teriyaki sauce did help a little to moisten the salmon. The brown rice was a little al dente. To be fair the chicken & beef was moist for the Chicken/Beef plate with the right amount of teriyaki sauce. Few weeks ago I ate at the new Ventura Waba Grill. There I ordered the salmon bowl. The salmon portion was too small & I had extra rice leftover. I was not even full! Lady is very very rude. I have called corporate as they are a franchised location they couldn't do much they said, I have order about 5 plates for me family and they only give you 2 waba sauces and chills. As it is a high amount of food you would think they'd give at least 10, 2 for each plate. After reading the comments, I see that I'm not the only unsatisfied customer due to horrible customer service from the rudest man in the food service industry I've ever encountered. As someone who has actually worked in customer service for over 10 years, I know that every customer counts. I informed man (Koon S) that the way he was speaking to me was unacceptable and I would be contacting corporate and he laughed. You know something is wrong when a manager doesn't fear corporate. That further explains that waba does nothing and doesn't follow through with them. I've already complained to Waba feedback via the app and a week later still have no response. Felt like a fast food restaurant - my order was ready in less that 3 minutes. I think they cook in bulk and just microwave the food. Almost 9 bucks for a little bowl of rice and chicken. I also didn't like their terriyaki sauce. They sell an exact tasting and looking chicken-rice bowl at Jack in the box and the cost for that is $3 Update: Have given the place another go and they have been great. I can't believe I'm doing this to one of my favorite spots & it has absolutely nothing to do with the food. This is solely based on one incident. If they didn't pull a fast move like this they would of easily got 4 Afros from me. When a customer ask for an orange wedge and you say no. Then the customer says they will gladly pay you for the orange wedge and you still say, "no it only comes with the plate not the bowl" you need to reevaluate what's more important to your business. Either one small orange wedge I was willing to pay for, or a satisfied customer who supported your business. If I could give this Waba Grill restaurant a negative 10 (that's right....a -10) then I would. A one star is way too generous for this particular restaurant. I've been to many other Waba Grill restaurants and those other employees at the other locations have been wonderful. The female and male owner at this restaurant are rude and the worst business owners on the planet. I have been to this particular Waba Grill several times and will not be back. I'd rather travel an hour to a different Waba Grill to order my food. EVERY single time I came here, I asked the cashier/owner for extra sauce and EVERY single time, I got the most rudest response and behavior. The first time, I told her that I'd be willing to pay more for the sauce if that was her major concern. She told me that she didn't have a way to charge me for the extra sauce. IF I am willing to pay money for the sauce which you sooooo greedily refuse to hand over, then don't give me a look that you're pissed off or annoyed. This is the ONLY Waba Grill that wasn't willing to give extra sauce without an attitude and refusal. The second time I came here, I again, asked for extra sauce. The same cashier/owner handed me one little dinky packet. When I asked for one more.....forget it.....it was more attitude and unfriendly service. I don't understand how this particular Waba Grill continues to operate in such an unfriendly environment. Corporate should do something with these owners and fix the problem.....The problem you ask? I really like WaBa grill. However couple thing I noticed of this Particular location. When I ask for a plate to dine in I got a plastic plate with cover to go, One napkin one fork. Today I ordered the WaBa bowl (chicken and steak and veggies) it was $9.00 which isn't bad but the flavors were bland. On top of that they covered the dish in their sweet teriyaki sauce which was way too much. They need to put that on the side and let the person add as much or as little as they want. They have complained over the phone that my husband ordered incorrectly and then brought it up again when he came in to pick up our food--- saying he can't ask for a bowl with veggies and he must order it as a chicken veggie bowl. Also complained that he called it a "beef bowl" and insisted he must order it as a "steak bowl". Really? I hade a terrible experience with an older female cashier she was absolutely rude and had no purpose in being there she was so angry after I made a mistake on my order and had to refund me an item she rolled her eyes and clicking her tongue in disapproval. She then continued to argue with me saying the order was already in and she was unable to complete my refund request. I was in disbelief with her behavior. After my food was ready she handed me my food in a terrible manner. I asked for a few sauces and she ignored me and helped another gentleman. I repeated myself and she finally gave me what I asked for and proceeded to wipe her hands clean emphasizing she was over the situation. Owner/manager is a jerk and a half. I work next door, and yesterday our restroom was out of order, so I walked into Waba and explained to the cashier (owner/manager's wife, I think) the situation. She asked me to order first, but eventually gave me the restroom key without a fuss. When I came out, the owner started SHOUTING at me from the kitchen for not buying anything. In front of the lunch crowd. As he was berating me, he was also making "shoe-ing" gestures like you would to an annoying fly. I was wearing my name badge from work and everything, plus I eat there regularly (I had been there not two days prior). I understand the restroom policy, but the scene he made over it was unacceptably extreme. It was such a humiliating experience, it almost made me cry. I will never eat there again, and neither will most of my coworkers. Shame on you, Waba jerkface!!!! Oh, and the food is barely mediocre. I hate this place. The food is pretty good and the portions are adequate, but the Korean/Japanese owners are the most cheap people ever. They're the most greedy fake smiling people I have ever met. If you want bad service, but good food for the price, come here! You ask them for a small little cup so that you can sample the hot sauce for level of hotness and they tell you to just put it on your food. You have no other choice but to. It's about time Oxnard opened up a decent teriyaki house! First time I cam e here, I called ahead an order and asked if they took credit/debit cards! Sure enough they do! The teriyaki sauce is thick and sweet and it totally reminds me of the sauce from Tokyo Teriyaki in Buena Park. Yummy!! The chicken is flavorful and the rice is the right consistency! (I'm asian...I can be picky with my rice!) Chris and I love this place and have gone back several times already! If you like teriyaki with anything meat, while leaning on the healthy side, you must give this place a try. Its tucked in the shopping center near kampai and big 5. As far as food goes, its good not amazing. I got the chicken/beef plate that comes with rice, a very small salad, and orange slices. It was a little too much teriyaki sauce at first, then after a few bites later, I didn't mind. The beef pieces were thin and kinda tasted like beef jerky (on the wet side). I still prefer the Flame Broiler, but with the closest one in Sherman Oaks or something, I really have to admit that Waba is the best teriyaki bowl chain in the area. It's a pretty standard menu for this type of food, complete with the option to upgrade to brown rice (if I'm not mistaken, $1 if none of your bowl is taken by veggies and $0.50 otherwise). However, they have a few fish things that I'm not used to seeing at these places. They've also got something I never see for the Flame Broiler: a big, reasonably stylish dining room with a bathroom. There are plenty of tables here, plus a big counter along the side. I was referring to the taste when I said they were the best chain of their kind in a reasonable distance. I didn't have problems with the way anything was cooked and their teriyaki sauce is reasonably good. One thing that sort of takes me by surprise is that their bowls are shaped differently -- same overall size, but wider and flatter. It might pose a chopstick challenge, but you can sneak a plastic fork when nobody's looking. read more

I can't believe the guy who said he'd rather eat at Yosinoya across town. Let me tell you, Yosinoya is closer to me than WaBa, and I'd rather drive to WaBa than eat the crap Yosinoya serves.
