We had tried WA Meadwerks' mead at a local brewery recently and were hooked. We were excited to see they are located in Lindy which is an easy drive for us. Parking can be tricky but there are side streets without meters if you look closely. The staff is friendly, kind, and gives great suggestions! We did a flight for $12 and we liked 3 out of the 5 we tried. Our favorite was the one the staff chose. A red currant mead with just the right amount of sweetness without giving you a hangover. They definitely have regulars here and we struck up a conversation with a few. They also offer food if you need something to soak up the alcohol. They have a mini-fridge with sodas, water, and seltzer as well in the event you need to hydrate or you're with folks who don't drink. There are table games to play and plenty of bottles to take home if something tickles your fancy. Awesome spot and we'll definitely be back!

I absolutely love this place! You can get a flight for $12 and everything tastes so smooth. The staff is super friendly, and the atmosphere is very cozy and intimate. Definitely a must try in Lindenhurst Village!

I was in Lindenhurst and I remembered WA Meadwerks from a street festival I attended. I saw they had a tasting room and stopped in. I was looking for their watermelon flavor which they had in a can. Then the owner mentioned they had slushies and my eyes lit up! I sure did take one home! So good! I'll be stopping back soon.

WA Meadworks As often said in Monty Python, "And now for something completely different." What do I mean? Well, how many meaderies do you know of? I wouldn't be surprised if your answer was none because before I ventured to Lindenhurst with one of my buddies, I never would've thought any meadery existed, let alone WA Meadworks here on Long Island. Well, that's not entirely true. I did stop into Brew Cheese up in Stonybrook back in the warmer months and sampled one of WA's solid meads (Keepin' it Lindy #2) which was on tap. Plus I had been exposed to just the idea of mead years ago at a renaissance fair so unlike most of the people I talked to about WA Meadworks, I had tried and did know what mead was. Though I probably never would've expected the world of mead to lend itself so closely to beer. What do I mean? Just enter into WA Meadworks and you'll think brewery. A bar with plenty of taps, tables scattered about, and a nice shelf full of bottled product for purchase. So a brewery, right? Wrong. WA Meadworks specializes in honey wine, creating a wide array of styles filled with anything from berries to chocolate. Better yet (just like any alcohol-based establishment), you can try a bunch of these meads via flight. With more than 15 options on tap, it can be tough to choose. Well, tough for anyone not driving. Half of the meads are labeled draft, giving way to ABV's that are respectable for sipping (single digits). The other half are "still meads" which really get the booziness going as they ring in at ABV's north of 12%. With me being behind the wheel that day, my buddy opted for a flight and hit mostly on the higher variants so my tastes were smaller and spaced out. Apple of My Eye, Anybody Want a Peanut?, Is it Autumnal? (pumpkin spice), and Gloop (chocolate) were four still meads that had a great hint of the flavors they were representing (as stated by their names), though definitely had the boozy wine kick riding along with each. One of the draft meads we tried was the Meaderhosen, brewed in collab with DUBCO for Oktoberfest. Can't say I loved the bitter, malty forefront and only slight sweetness, but the fact it was a collab was pretty cool. What was also cool was the employee behind the bar. This guy was talking up a storm, mostly to some of the local Lindenhurst folks and friends, but he did include my buddy and I in tasting some of another collab WA did with DUBCO, but on the beer side of the fence. Don't Call Me Honey Boy, a kölsch with (you guessed it) honey as the main flavor made for a nice combination for the two worlds of alcohol. Getting to try that brew free of charge, along with decent hospitality within the taproom, rounded out a fun little mead trip. Overall, WA Meadworks is totally something worth checking out. Maybe you like your wine red, or perhaps you're more into beer. Either way, take a step out of the ordinary because WA will give you a crazy crossover between the two in the form of an old school libation developed under new school ideas. I'd totally return (perhaps not as the driver) to sample more honey wines because hey, why not try something completely different?

Say yes to Mead! This bar is one great place with a great bartender and his dog Hazel! The place is very cozy and popular among locals, which is a great sign. My husband and I were able to get a seat at the bar. The selection of leads is incredible. The menu is separated into two columns: drafts and still. As being new to the place, I decided to get the flights ( I should have gone with a mega flight which includes all 21 flavors); I started with five flavors from the drafts; they are less alcohol content and so delicious. I could not stop praising it. Then I chose five from stills which a more strong but also very delicious. I could not pick a favorite one. Extra star I would add for adorable Hazel, get her some treats if you come ) I am definitely coming back for more!

The owner was so nice and friendly. I've been to meaderies in NJ and Maine and WA Meadwerks was just as good as the others! Prices here are decent. High quality mead!

This was my first time trying Mead wine, and I was not disappointed. This small batch tasting room and Meadery was well beyond my expectation. They both make and serve their brand and had over 20 different options to choose from. Paired with a wine and cheese plate from a local business made this visit the perfect warmup to a night out in the revitalized Lindenhurst downtown.

The meadery opened in the heart of the quaint village of Lindenhurst on the south shore right off the LIRR. It's easily accessible and there is plenty of parking. If you haven't tried a mead you must visit this place and get the experienced the honey wine. You'll be blown away by the creativity and flavor complexity they provide. The brewers' passion shine through in their product and they designed a pretty awesome tasting room equipped with a tv and dart board. Go stop by and open yourself up to a new drink, mead!! It won't disappoint.

If you want to try something different come here! I'm honey obsessed and when I found out about mead I had to give it a try. WA Meadwerks takes it to the next level. They constantly change it up but offer flights of mead in an extraordinary variety of flavors. I choose the flight because I had never had mead and didn't know which ones I'd like. My absolute favorite turned out to be the Lindy 2 (Restoration Kitchen collaboration). Blueberry and a Ginger-each flavor showed up on this one and held their own. I happen to really like those flavors. For most interesting I have to say the Meaderhosen --it is beer like! I don't know what magic it took to make this one but it tases like Frankfurt GERMANY I swear. If you're looking for something fun and different I'd say this is the place. Bring friends, or make friends there like I did lol. The patrons are a friendly as the staff!

How is this place not on yelp yet? An actual meadery on Long Island! Owner is super nice and attentive, the meads are all very good and they have cheese plates for pairing! What could be better? They have bottles to go as well for all of your friends who haven't tried mead! I tried both the apple of my eye and the raspberry strawberry one. The Apple one was yummy with a bit of smoke flavor on the end. The raspberry strawberry (ResQme?) was delicious! Something you would want on a nice summer night. They do a flight as well which I wish I had done because there were a few others on tap which I would have liked to try (a flight was $12 for 5! What a steal!) I will be trying my best to make the Slates and Plates night here on 2/13 for a cheese and mead pairing! Yum!!!!

To be honest, the location is gorgeous with large wooden benches indoors and opening up to a large field and stage area with seating for live music outside, all along a water front. But again, the pizza. With ingredients including house-made mozzarella, hot soppressata and Mikes Hot Honey, the oven fired pizzas made fresh to order are the star of the show. The unique brews on draft vary constantly and are sure to please whatever you palate is in the mood for. If you are on line for the bar, you can see the drink selections on the floor mounted menus while waiting to speed up your choices. Bar tenders are friendly and can help make selections according to your preferences. There is also plenty of parking. Side note, a wedding party was heading down from the second floor of the building when we visited, so if you are looking to host a party you may also want to inquire about options here taking into account the available views.

We came on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't too busy at all. We opted for the sweet wine flight to share. The wines started off as follows: 1. Waywayanda white 2. Summer fields 3. Harvest time 4. International red 5. Ruby's kiss The first wine was very light and bland tasting for my opinion. My boyfriend loved it and actually bought a bottle of it. Summer fields was sweeter but definitely a lighter style wine. Three tasted like a Christmas season mulled wine but was absolutely delicious. Four was a very dry wine. I left that for my boyfriend to drink as I was not a fan. He enjoyed it and said it was crisp and a nice cold red. Ruby's kiss as always is delicious and a great drink. Taking away a star because we had politely asked our service what the Apple Dave's Distillery was next door and she responded with such attitude and disgust that was asked "that's an entirely separate business" and then abruptly left our table. Not sure what the issue was asking a simple question but it left a weird vibe I did not enjoy.
