This farm is absolutely beautiful--perched above a valley with stunning views that make it a perfect fall hangout spot. The live music added a great touch, and it was lovely to relax with friends in the crisp autumn air. Service was friendly, but there were a few letdowns. Seating is limited, so be prepared to stand or get cozy. The cider was underwhelming and not served very cold, which took away from the experience. The charcuterie came in a plastic to-go box and was pretty basic--not quite what you'd expect from such a picturesque setting. We tried the ruby's kiss wine back at Apple fest last year and finally made it to the actual winery. It's very small and unfortunately is not dog friendly. We came on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't too busy at all. We opted for the sweet wine flight to share. The wines started off as follows: 1. Waywayanda white 2. Summer fields 3. Harvest time 4. International red 5. Ruby's kiss The first wine was very light and bland tasting for my opinion. My boyfriend loved it and actually bought a bottle of it. Summer fields was sweeter but definitely a lighter style wine. Three tasted like a Christmas season mulled wine but was absolutely delicious. Four was a very dry wine. I left that for my boyfriend to drink as I was not a fan. He enjoyed it and said it was crisp and a nice cold red. Ruby's kiss as always is delicious and a great drink. Taking away a star because we had politely asked our service what the Apple Dave's Distillery was next door and she responded with such attitude and disgust that was asked "that's an entirely separate business" and then abruptly left our table. We've been there before about 3 years ago and decided to return since I found out on the website they had flights and cider donuts pairing as well as private cabanas . Initially the experience was great as I requested info on the website and right the way received a txt from Dylan who was so awesome and answered all my questions , he made everything so much easier when it comes to understanding what I was getting and how things worked . Once I got there I spoke to a lady who immediately found my server who walked us to our cabana . Our servers name was Jenny and she was absolutely THE BEST, very attentive and helpful since I told her this was my boyfriend's bday celebration .she was on point always checking on us and making sure everything was good . The cabana was adorable and very comfortable and the donuts were great too . We tried a new wine called Summer Fields and chilled is so GOOD and refreshing . We also loved the Harvest one as it has an apple taste , very very good . The pizza was excellent . Now to the down part :( Last time we were there they had a bad bathroom outside and I wrote a review about that in hopes it would be better this time , well NOT REALLY :( the one bathroom that they had inside was clogged and all we had left yet again were the disgusting portable bathrooms outside .. that was certainly a downer . Came to Applewood Winery yesterday after making a reservation online about a week prior. It has nice vibes located in Warwick. The drive there was beautiful and obviously parking was not an issue. There were plenty of open tables and our waitress was very nice. They were having an electricity issue so some of the glass towers were not available I assume bc they weren't able to be washed quickly and we were given plastic cups for wine tasting. We requested to switch to glass towers and they were nice enough to do so. The wines were very nice and food was fresh. The vibe was nice as well. Just be aware that this is a winery and not a vineyard. I originally thought it was a vineyard and expected to see some grape vines but I guess that wasn't the case. I went with five other friends and we rented a cabana as I know it gets quite crowded on the weekend. It happened to be one of the most beautiful days so we were thankful to have it available for us. We were quite disappointed to see the changes that were made over the last year and a half since I last went. They added an area with chickens and sheep which blocked the view of the lake and on top of that we were told that the path down to it was now closed off and that the business behind the winery, Applejack, will not allow people from the winery to go down there unless they drive their vehicles and pay for parking which is absurd. Why wouldn't you want foot traffic from there down to your location? We laughed at the thought and were not about to do that. Honestly, no one would know about that place if it wasn't for Applewood, I didn't until I went to the winery and walked down to check out their little shop but it is definitely not worth going to. This place USED TO be a gem. I have been going here for over 10 years. Sadly, ownership passed away and left this to their squabbling kids. The transition to new ownership and the way the business has been split in half, restricting customers from crossing between businesses without reparking their vehicle and splitting the menu while neglecting to inform customers about it has made this a less than enjoyable experience. Combine that with the drastically increased apple picking pricing and the exclusive reserved (empty) seating at the winery and this is no longer a desirable place to visit with my family. Wine, cider, and cocktails with the classic fall/farm/rustic/chill vibe. We usually do the wine and/or cider flights inside the winery which is pretty opened and spacious. Then we move outside as there's a lot of seating to just chill on the grass and few different areas to get drinks if you're not sitting down with table service at the winery. They make subpar pizza on site as well as a few other things and there's also a food truck which is excellent. There also seems to have been a falling out between Applewood Winery and the adjacent Apple Dave's (which now charges a $5 admission fee whereas Applewood Winery does not) so now you are no longer able to walk back and forth between the two. read more

I had a nice relaxing time at this winery! I really liked the sweet flight; it went from less sweet to the most sweet and they all tasted really good! My favorites were the rose and the concord wine (the last two)! The specialty pizza for that day was yummy, but I wish the crust was a bit more thin. The only other thing I wished this winery had was a better view; there is a body of water (lake? pond?) past the fence but you can't get to it or really take pictures of it. Came to Warwick for the long Labor Day Weekend and found this spot shortly after we arrived. Thought we would just poo in to see and we stayed for hours! They had cool seating out back. Kid friendly, dog friendly and huge space! You can have beers at the distillery, pick apples in the orchard or just hang and order food and drinks like we did. They have a cool southern food truck up front with delicious food!! The pulled pork sandwich was just perfect!! Full of tender well cooked shredded pork with just the right amount of sauce and seasoning. The pizzas inside were just perfect and the cider apples at the barn were even better!! Rated two for the RUBY KISS and CABERNET FRANC. Ordered to take home RUBY KISS and not in the bag given Merlot instead. The FLIGHT "rack" served with hanging sampling glasses is cool. RUBY KISS is just amazing for sweet tasting lovers, that taste of grapes picked off your grandfather's home grown grape vines in June. CABERNET FRANC for a full body wine with a SMOOTH finish. Requested two non stem glasses and given used ones (lip mark on one of them, YUCK) we learned an hour and a half away home. We drank from stemmed and shot glasses. COST per bottle cheaper on website, but the ambiance and service you may find deserve extra cost. You decide, after the adventure ride there. What the $&@! APPLEWOOD WINERY. Service was good while we drank and ate in the pavilion, served by SALLY. ALL GOOD EXPERIENCED (bathrooms need help in this establishment) on location removed with their surprises discovered home. Throughout the year they're open: Jan - Feb, Wknds Only; March - Aug, Wed - Sun 11am - 5pm; Sept -Oct, Open Daily 11am - 5pm; Nov - Dec, Wed - Sun, 11am - 5pm. Starting in November it's recommended to buy a ticket for reserved indoor seating. Outdoor seating is on a first come, first serve basis. After Apple picking and taking numerous pics we decided to grab some food and partake in the winery. We lucked out and were able to find a seat at the picnic table for our group. We had chicken and steak tacos along with their original hard cider and pink moscato. I was amazed at how good the hard cider was. It was my first time trying it and I've been hooked ever since. My brother's girl bought my hunny and I a bottle of Pink Moscato which is as equally delicious as the hard cider. I wish this place was closer because I'd definitely go back every weekend. They have A Wino Club where they ship you two bottles of Applewood wine or cider 4 times a year at a 20% discount. The 20% discount applies to all of your wine and cider purchases throughout the year. There's also offer free wine tastings for you and up to 3 guests whenever you visit the winery. Let's start with the positive. I had come here as a child and began bringing my oldest when she turned 1. If you go, make sure it is a weekday. The winery has some very nice mead. The mixed drinks are extremely expensive. Food is not bad. They've added a BBQ food truck which was decent, if pricey. It's very scenic, with great views of fall foliage. Now for the (current) downsides. Whatever fallout the owners have had has caused chaos at this place. It took 40 minutes to get from the road to the parking log. Where are employees guiding cars? Warwick Valley has them. Wilklow has them. Masker. I could go on. No less than 3 cars were stuck in the mud. Parking is not well defined (again, no one directing traffic) so there were narrow aisles that were difficult to navigate. We quickly ate something, made a purchase at the winery, and began walking with a crowd down the hill. This is where a man yelled at everyone to go back; no walking, only driving - "this is a separate business." To which one patron replied, I've been circling for hours looking for parking, we are walking. The man then said "then you are not welcome here!". That's some way to speak to your customers. The orchard was fine. Extremely muddy from the heavy rain but oddly there were no tractors running to take people out to the apple trees. The bags for apples cost an exorbitant $25 or $40, on top of the $5/person entry fee. Lastly, they ran out of donuts early. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience, and may be our last. Edit in response to the owners note: I gave your business a higher rating than your neighbor. Let's face it, your parking lot was chaotic: a van was stuck in the mud for an hour before receiving assistance. Where were the employees directing traffic? Lastly, your businesses were once related, correct? Or a single business? Hard to get the full story, which is what makes it easy to confuse your businesses. It's neither here nor there; figure it out. Use legal means. Use business means. If you were in a strip mall, would you allow a neighboring shop to ruin your customers' experience? read more

Since we went last a lot changed and sure for the good :( Distelliery and Winery are divided in 2 different places now ( I guess not always easy to work with family. The nice yard now is a parking area... you can not go just down to the pond since is dived by a wall fences ... felt like back in the day in Germany with the wall between east and west you know other side is there but cant go... The kids always had fun seeing the chickens running around now they put away in a caged area... But anyways the most complicated part was the reservation process for a table to enjoy lunch.. many questions same result.. The food was really good, the wine tasting was great and we loved the presentation and our waitress was a sweat heart ... prices a fair... I am on the edge if we would return since the whole dived staff really turned me off... you cant bring beer to the winery sold at the distelery but you can bring wine down to the destilery sold at the winery... I for myself enjoy a beer rather than wine but my wife likes wine rather than beer so should we sit in 2 different locations from now? It was incredibly rude and gave me no incentive to return. I came with 2 other ladies, and we were treated as a burden. Was looking forward to celebrating my friends birthday on Sunday 10/15/23 at Applewood Winery but instead had an awful experience. I went with a large group of people, maybe around 15-20 people around 3pm. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with attitudes from servers and mostly anyone that worked there. A man walked by our table and demanded we all sit down before we were allowed to order a drink. The miserable waitresses that were assigned to our tables were just straight up rude and nasty. It's not that hard, at the very least, to pretend to be nice to people who are spending $1,000+ on just alcohol. We harshly got told at 4:15 that this place closes at 5pm and that they will do a HARD last call at 4:45pm. Ok, understood, no need to forcefully yell. No-one that works there was in a good mood and it severely shows. If you all hate your job and hate customer service, my god, do something else for a living. The way we were treated overall was just sh*tty. All you have to do, at minimum, is to be pleasant towards your guests. It requires zero effort. Not a single thing was enjoyable, sorry to say. I don't want this business to suffer because of the neighboring business's ridiculous business practices so let me take the opportunity to give this place the credit it deserves. Yes, the neighboring orchard's owner has made a ridiculous rule regarding parking and crossing over to their property. But Applewood is worth visiting on its own. The owners and staff are always friendly and personable. All of their wines and ciders are fantastic. I recommend getting the wine and cider flights so you can taste them all. You can also get a growler that you can bring back and refill. We took some of "Ruby's Kiss" home as well as a growler of the pumpkin cider. There is indoor and outdoor seating and have live music some days. You can sit and take in the beautiful view and enjoy some delicious drinks. They have some snacks as well. After the drinks you should visit their shop across from the bar where you can get some cute gifts and treats for the road. They also offer apple cider donuts and brick oven pizza. In the summer there is a small menu of food to go along with the drinks. In the fall the menu is limited. You can get drinks to go and sit on the grass or you can opt for waiter service. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I purposely went during the weekday to avoid crowds and was disappointed to find out they do not offer any food except chips during the weekday. We have been to many of the wineries on Shawangunk Wine Trail and decided to make reservations at this winery in the morning. We are Happy we did. The day and scenery were Beautiful. We went to Apple Dave's first for some apple cider donuts, delicious and just relaxed an enjoyed the scenery. Then we went up to Applewood for our wine tasting reservations. We got the Red wine and mixed wine flight samplers. Both were good for sampling. We also gave the Naked Flock hard cider a try, definitely recommend giving it a try. Very good!! Live music! We visited Applewood for my mother in laws birthday and had never been to a winery before. They had our table ready as we had made reservation prior. The wine and cheese pairing was amazing and explained really well. Our server Sally went above and beyond to answer any questions we had and made us feel like family. This was my second stop this weekend taking my cousin on a wine tour for her birthday. This place had Controlled Chaos, which was really nice. They serve naked flock cider which is my absolute favorite. It's not all sugary and taste terrific. The wine is very good here although I do tend to stay away from the long lines of food and rather go elsewhere to eat just my own personal preference. I guess that was a waste but that's okay, we probably just got lucky that because of the weather, It wasn't busy. Small family run place for over 25 years. There's another distillery behind but it's separate from the winery. The kitchen isn't open, just cheese boards and chips. Ciders were a good variety. Different enough that everyone might like one. When we got our cider, we got a little explanation of the how everything they use and sell is locally sourced and all from NY, told us a little about each cider and gave us a run down of the history. I only have this two stars because I enjoyed the ambiance. We ordered two flights to sample the offerings at this winery as it was our first time. When we were ready to leave we wanted to purchase the ciders and wines offered in the flights. NONE of them were available to purchase! When asked why they serve things they don't have available for sale we were told it was "what was left from the season and we have to use it up". Unacceptable. That's the point of flights. The $5 per person fee gets used as a credit towards your bill once youre there. Nice bonus Both my friend and I tried a flight of various wines and ciders and loved the presentation.
