I've had mead only once before, and I couldn't recall my experience. Being that an entire establishment for it was so close to home, we came on a free Saturday. It was empty, save for another couple and a group of four. Their service was super friendly, and they have games inside that you can play. We opted to sit outside under the umbrellas, as it was nice outside. We decided to start off with a tasting of four, which was $15. It ended being enough for the two of us, as it was quite sweet. I have been coming to Long branch for close to 10 years and I had never heard of this location until it was introduced to me by a friend. It is definitely in a more secluded area, and not near all the hustle and bustle of pier village. Though they don't serve food, they have a wide selection of ciders and you are free to bring your own snacks and food. They also have pop-up events which is pretty neat. There were quite a bit of fruit flies when I visited despite being indoors, but they weren't too bothersome. Stumbled on this place as my friend and I were looking for a new winery experience! We weren't really sure what mead was but learned it was honey based wine! This place was a great experience! They have wide selection of ciders and meads to choose from. We did the $15 tasting which you got to choose any 4 ciders and/or meads to try. We liked that it was mix and match and not just one or the other. I tried the agave mead, peach and guava cider, and hula mead. i am a huge fan of mead but i've struggled to find good mead in any local liquor stores. So I was absolutely thrilled to find Beach Bee! I came in with my sister to try it out and I was so impressed. First off, the women behind the bar were so friendly and extremely helpful! they gave us some info about their meads and ciders and helped us pick out our choices for the flights. Their selection of different flavors was perfect for all different tastes! I particularly loved their Key Lime Mead it was the perfect balance of sweetness and tartness. We also loved the Apricot Sage cider. There was also board games to choose from so you could play games while drinking! Really, really fun spot with friendly staff, and the drinks were good! I've never had mead before, but really liked what I tasted, and the cider drinks were all pretty excellent. I wish they had food to nosh on while you're there (even bagged chips or pretzels you could buy would be cool), but they're obviously okay with you brining in outside food too. We stopped by this little spot for some pre-Halloween festivities. They have a solid selection of mead and ciders. There were 2 frozen ciders available, as well as some small snack packs in case you want something to munch on while having a drink. The lady that served us was extremely friendly and helpful. She explained that they try to rotate several options on the menu a month. The seasonal pumpkin pie mead was surprisingly delicious and had a depth of flavors. I don't normally drink cider but thought we'd check it out and see what "mead" is all about. My take away is Mead was something pirates and Vikings drank way back in the day ? First time trying mead. We were in the area for our dog's birthday and we were looking for dog friendly places we can go. Love a place that is welcoming to dogs. Personally, we realized mead may not be for us since it was quite sweet. But, we both enjoyed the pumpkin mead out of the ones we tried. I liked that they had games that we can play. This is an awesome Meadery with a great environment that is very laid back and fun. The staff and owner are very friendly and go out of their way to make your experience good. The meads and ciders that they have here are very unique and all very tasty. We had a flight of the meads and ciders and each had its own amazing flavor. My personal favorite was the shrews berry mead and the white tea ginger cider. The flights are brought to you at your table and while you drink there are many games that are availible to play. This place is great!! I heard about the meadery a while back from people, but hadn't gotten the chance to visit. I'm so glad I finally did, and it is such a hidden gem in Long Branch. I love mead, and was very excited to try out what they have. They have such fun and creative flavors, and a flight was the best way to try them out. I really enjoyed their ciders as well, and loved the blueberry pomegranate and apricot sage. This is an adorable space to hang out in, and I loved the palm trees all over and beachy ambiance. It's also really cool to see all the equipment in the back for making the mead. The people working here were super friendly and gave great recommendations for what to try. When my friend asked the lady behind the counter to surprise her with flight options, the lady asked a few questions to guide the selections and picked out some really great ones! We spent a lot of time talking with the father and son owners (Jackson and Curtis) and it is truly incredible how much they have accomplished to pursue their dream and open this place! We loved everything we tasted and got excited for new recipes in development. These guys have a passion and you can tell they love what they do and it comes out in their products. In addition to tastings, you can purchase glasses, bottles, growlers, and merch. And, in case you don't know, mead is a honey wine; nice and sweet and full of flavor. We have never been to a Meadery and wanted to check it out. The place has a very cute atmosphere and also a nice area for outdoor seating. They had several different ciders as well as meads. We all tried the flights which is a great option because you can mix meads and ciders in the flights. I tried the old fashioned, orange, pirate and cranberry cinnamon, all were very good. I did like the taste of all of them when they were chilled. But I felt the taste became stronger as they got warmer. They don't have food, but they have bags of pretzels and small packs of cheese and coldcut meat for snacking, but you can bring in your own food if you prefer.Lauren was our server, she was great and explained everything about meads and how it's made. They offer flights of 4 glasses for a very reasonable $7, but because I was driving, I decided to opt for being more responsible. Bought a bottle of their Hula Dancer mead for home and had a glass of their peach cobbler cider on site. These tasted AMAZING, especially if you prefer sweeter, fruitier drinks that don't burn when it goes down. As this place allows you to bring your own food, my friends and I shared a cheese platter that paired well with the cider. The place is relatively small, but on a spring weekend there were plenty of seats available. Word of advice: I can see this place getting packed once word-of-mouth spreads, it gets warmer out, and life resumes back to normal. I know mead has become more popular but I totally missed the idea that there would be a meadery in New Jersey. It was a little far to drive and I saw they shipped from their online store so I thought I would check out several samples. I am usually shocked by how high shipping rates are for alcohol and for this place I was shocked as to how low it was. Stumbled across this gem while out for a drive today. The owner, Curtis, and his son, Jack, were super-friendly and informative. For those of you, like me, who are not in the know, mead is the process of fermenting honey and water to create an alcoholic beverage. Cider, on the other hand, is made from apples. Beach Bee distills both mead and ciders - all on premises. I opted for the carbonated pear apple cider (amazing on a nice hot afternoon) and the non-carbonated Juniper still cider (crisp and refreshing). Who would of thought you could find such great cider in Long Branch NJ? This is a stop not to be missed! I'm headed back this weekend to get a 4-pack of the blueberry cider.
