I would give this company zero stars if I could. However, Yelp doesn't allow that. This company came into my home to spray for spiders. And upon them leaving small black bugs started popping up everywhere in my home. When I called to request them to return to resolve the issue, they wanted to charge me an extra fee. When I asked why, they stated "it was just a coincidence". They then proceeded to terminate my service and told me "we don't trust you for the complaint you made" So as a PSA for anyone reading this. This company will not only charge you extra to resolve an issue they created, but they will terminate your service and leave you high and dry when expressing your honest concerns. read more

in 2019 I had subterranean termites in the kitchen and had them treated by Terminix. Then when remodeling the bathroom we found more subterranean termites. this was about 9 months ago. We had termites also in the eves and a lot of wood damage. W.A. Stone fumigated my home and treated the subterranean termites. I told them I was going to remodel another bathroom and if I found more termites would they treat them. They said yes. Well I found presence of termites and they came out again. They saw nothing new or alive but treated the area just to be sure. Dave was great! Very respectful and efficient. read more

They were on time polite and efficient. There was no up selling when the inspection was done. The workers replaced a beam under the porch and cleaned up the areas where they sprayed. They also explained what need to be done and where they found more termites. I would use W A Stone again. read more

We were referred to this company for a termite issue. I emailed several questions in response to scheduling a treatment. I received no response, so I emailed my landlord who connected us and cc'd them. Her response was a flat out lie saying I never asked any questions and forwarded our email chain but deleted my response that she ignored. She also then was very rude in saying that we should find someone else. They are unprofessional with their communication, they lie, and then they try to blame their shortcomings on the customer... We are so grateful for W.A. Stone Termite and Pest Control. They have been so helpful and professional from beginning to end. The owner Mark came out more than two years ago to give us a quote for termite extermination and wood repair for our home. We never followed through and when we asked him to come back, the damage was worse but he still honored the original quote. He also gave my kids a lesson in termites, how they cause problems and how he gets rid of him. Just a super nice guy. The gals in the office, Kristen and Lauren, have been excellent communicators from beginning to end. We had to get some roof repair done which affected the termite work and they helped us get it all settled and scheduled with no hassles. They always informed us about pre-work visits to prep for the construction, which I appreciate. They offered us great options to avoid fumigation (heat treatment) and today they are replacing all of the exterior damaged wood from top to bottom. Dave and Kevery are the contractors handling the construction and have been nothing but professional, kind and take such pride in their work. They needed access to a few different parts of our home and they have been respectful, clean (wearing shoe covers, which I love with a baby in the house) and efficient. This was my second time using W A Stone Termite & Pest Control. The first time was when we were purchasing our home. They were recommended by our realtor. They did a great job of inspecting the home and making the necessary repairs that were needed. I called them yesterday, and told them I had seen some termites in our back yard. Mark came out today, did a full inspection of the perimeter and then inspected both attic areas for signs of termites. Thankfully, no termites but the service was amazing. That's why I will call them the next time I have a pest or termite concern! read more

WA Stone's business model: Market "alternatives to fumigation" as effective insect control, but make sure to cover yourself in all customer contracts by identifying all your so called alternatives as, by definition, "substandard." This accomplishes two things, assuming one has no conscience: (1) if your product fails to perform as you claim, fall back on "I disclosed to you in the contract that this was a substandard treatment" and (2) when your product does fail to perform, as you know it will fail, then charge your customer for exactly what you claimed was unnecessary: full fumigation. And on top of that, repairs needed due to years of your ineffective substandard product. This way you have nothing to lose (but your integrity) because you charge your customer for crap service year after year and get paid again later to fix it. I had an annual service with WA Stone for more than 10 years, for a well cared for million dollar home in Poway. Every time the technician came to perform service I was told everything looks great, just some local termite activity here and there, easily treated and pests eliminated with Termidor. But when it came time to sell the house, WA Stone did an inspection for escrow and that's when I fully discovered their unethical behavior described above. They quoted a ridiculous $17,000 for treatment, including a claimed requirement for the fumigation they market as being avoidable via alternatives they offer and sold to me for 12 years. Guess how much I actually paid for all treatment and repair (fumigation actually NOT necessary) recommended after inspection by a 5 star rated pest control firm: $5000. Bottom line is I find this company to be unethical and rip off artists. I very rarely spend the time to write a review, but in this case I feel compelled to warn others. read more

I have recently purchased a home in a high end area and did my research on Pest Control Companies, when buying a home the last thing I want is to move into a home that has termites or other pests. I found WA Stone to be one of the best companies to work with for a number of reasons. The first reason is they are a local company, there is a huge advantage when using a local company compared to a large named company, for one being the level of service, I can call the office and actually speak to someone and not just listen to a long recording. What I found to be the best option offered by WA Stone was the FREE HOME INSPECTION!!! The free inspection also comes with a full report to document the findings of the inspection which really shows that you are being treated by an honest company and not just a company out to get your money. I have done my research and with what I received from WA Stone, I don't feel I could have found a better company to service my home. read more

10/7/21 Called W.A Stone today with much hesitation only because tech was on my property, owner pays them for service & found out today they refuse to service my home due to my review??? CSR that answered was super rude yelling at me saying she did not have to speak to me do to my review on 08/12 and that they had excluded my home from treatments and they were only servicing the 2 units in the back. I decided to give W.A. Stone a try based on my neighbors recommendation. My family and I are not keen on whole house fumigation but were prepared to go through it if necessary. We had our inspection (free) and estimate. I found the inspector to be honest he would have happily fumigated my home but found it unnecessary given that termites were only in a few areas inside and outside of the home so we opted for the spot treatment. About 2 weeks later we had the treatment. 6 weeks later we haven't had any sign of the termites . They will also do a 6 month inspection which is included in the price I already paid. Courteous workers that were very considerate of our home and to keep it clean throughout the treatment. read more

Wow, customer service training needed! Like other reviewers, I got Debbie ( the owners wife) on the phone as well. I had a simple, easy question, but instead of giving the simple, easy answer, she berated and disrespected me. I was trying to figure out how it got so escalated over a question. Yelling, she says "Didn't you READ the contract? You signed it." After about 10min of trying to calm her down (is the customer supposed to do that?), I gave up. I cancelled my contract. Service guy tells me it happens a lot when customers talk to her. And this was a referral from a real estate agent! I agree, STAY AWAY!!!!! read more

We've had roof rats ongoing for 20 + years and after multiple failures by other exterminators, we finally found a suitable exterminator to help with this. The best way to deal with it is to first keep them out of your attic, then bait them outside. They call this "excluding" and the bait boxes are strategically placed where the rats run. They assure me that there is not "secondary kill" in their bait so my neighborhood hawks, owls, and hunter kitties don't get sick if they pick up the carcass. We just had Carlos and Miguel out to inspect and they were so professional and polite that is was a pleasure to have them here. read more

My contract was terminated by the owner's wife because I complained about having to wait 2 weeks for service when there were swarming, flying termites in the shower stall of my bathroom. Stone raised their price by almost $100 for a yearly contract which only covers an initial inspection and 3 subsequent treatment visits. The tech, Matt, who serviced my house was very good, but the attitude of the office staff and the owner's wife was decidedly cold and not customer friendly. Upon research, I found a termite company that charged me considerably less, and offered unlimited service calls. They also were very accommodating and very consumer friendly. read more

I called in July to tell WAStone that I thought I have spotted a subterranean termite in an affected area that they treated almost two years ago. I had no idea when I called that I just squeaked in under the "2 year warranty," which ended Aug 4. However, they could not schedule someone to come out and check it out until August 15 at 11:00 (3 weeks after my phone call), but said they would honor the 2-year warranty. Great. Well today, August 14, I called to confirm the appointment tomorrow, and am told, "Nope, you were supposed to call back and confirm your appointment, and you did not." I argued that I did not leave with that understanding, and that I even asked them to call me if they secured an opening earlier. By the end of our conversation, I had a firm appointment for August 15 at 11am. There was no discussion in our conversation that my appointment was going to be lost if I did not call AGAIN to tell them I needed them to come out. Shortly after our phone conversation, I even called my tenant and told him unequivocally to put August 15 on the calendar because WAStone was coming out to inspect. Regardless, I called today, a day before the Aug. 15 appointment to confirm, found out they gave that appointment away because they claim I did not confirm it, and then conveniently told me that my warranty is expired! GOTCHAAAAAA!!!! Let's face it, no matter what happened, they know I called to report a termite siting before the 2-year warranty expiration, they know they are booked out 3 weeks to over a month out and could not have someone come out until after the expiration, and they know they gave me the date of August 15 at 11am for the appointment, and they know I called today, Aug 14, to confirm. I would have loved to have had them come out before August 4 (the date the 2-year warranty expired), but they were the ones who had to schedule it out so far past the expiration date. Instead of doing what an honest business would do and schedule me for the very next available date, they are using a scheduling "he said-she said" ploy to screw me!!!! So they're telling me that I am the one who made a mistake when I know for a fact I left that conversation taking that appointment. Clearly, they do not want to honor the warranty. Oh, and to add insult to injury, I asked them to have Mark Stone (the owner who sold their services to me initially and with whom I have a relationship) call me. They refused. So they won't even let me talk to the owner. This whole think stinks pretty bad, don't you think? read more

I had their services completed before I moved into my house. They said it was subterranean termites & that they would just would put the chemical into the subfloor. Though you could clearly see the damage from the termites on the wood ceiling, we trusted their opinion. I'm completely not satisfied because that summer we had them out twice to deal with more infestation, dead termites,live termites with wings, wood particles on the floor & more damage to the ceiling. It should be warranty to retreat the house until satisfied but they thought they would just vacuum the mess & try to spray specific areas. Well it didn't work now we are trying to find a company that will make it right....we are going to have to have our house tented. WE SHOULD HAVE DONE TO BEGIN WITH, what an inconvenience!!! read more

I purchased a home that Stone did the Termite on -- The attic was rat infested and they made no mention of it. When I questioned them about the Rat Infestation, they stated that they were not obligated to report this unless they were being paid for that type of report. They then stated that they would never mention a Rat Infestation because they would not want to have a negative effect on the Real Estate transaction. They did however offer to do a clean up the Infestation for an enormous price! Every other Termite Company I spoke with said they would have felt morally obligated to mention a Rat Infestation to at least the Real Estate Agent. They try to come across as a wonderful family owned business but my recommendation is STAY AWAY, FAR AWAY. read more

Inspected our home for purchase using a VA loan in Sept 2014 and gave us a clear report. We are now moving on PCS orders and our house is in escrow and the new termite inspection company found a chalked note on the chimney from their 2014 inspection, marking specifically where termite wings were found - new inspector said the wings are still in the same place marked, which indicates that no treatment was performed and now there's also some damage. I called them and the woman I spoke was very dismissive because it was 5 years ago, and said they would have marked with chalk the limits of the attic inspection on the furthest wall (wtf?). I pointed out that they were marked notes on the chimney in the center of the attic and specifically note wings. She then said anything could have happened since then (of course termites could have shown up any time - but they were specifically dated and marked as present at their inspection, but they issued a clear report anyway) and that they issued a clear report because at that moment it was clear, then added that anyone could have chalked the note in the attic, so basically accused me of setting them up. Don't bother with this company and request a second opinion if they've inspected the home you're investing in. read more

I recently dealt with WA Stone. First of all, their office staff is horrible. After many attempts to make corrections to my account, I finally spoke with the owner, Debbie. She was awful, rude and eventually hung up on me. I spoke a friend of mine, who had recommended this company to me, and she said that recently the company has seemed very unorganized, made many mistakes that she has been unable to get resolved, and that she had just canceled her service as well. Its very unfortunate because their technicians are very friendly and helpful and have done well with the problems I have had. Their office should look into education for customer service. read more

Do not waste your time with this termite company. I used them twice in a year. The first experience was smooth and I was told that I had a few termites that they would take care of and that it was not a big deal. A year later we decide to sell our home and have them come out again and this time are notified that we have over $7000 in damage to our home from dry rot. When I questioned the difference in the reports the staff was awful and rude. I finally asked to speak to the manager, who is Debbie and she was worse than the receptionist. She was very condescending and told me "come on, are you intelligent? Can you read?". Seriously? Is that how you speak to your customers who have a very valid question on your service? The difference in reports is crazy. She flat out told me that they had notified me and that it was something I didn't take care of, but the report speaks for itself. Dry rot was not indicated on the first report. I would never recommend this company to anyone. And from what I understand, Debbie is the owners wife...maybe he needs to look into someone else to run the office. She clearly has no idea how to deal with customers. read more
