My lawn service wanted to immediately charge me to get rid of some gophers they claimed exited under some plants at the edge of my front lawn. Visually, I saw no tell-tell signs of gopher activity and was therefore skeptical. After reading their great Yelp reviews, I took a chance and phoned Hurst Exterminators and spoke to Michael who offered immediately to look at some photos of the area. Based on the photos, he believed he could see gopher mounds but that they may be inactive. He scheduled David to come out and inspect my front lawn and plants. David arrived right at the scheduled time and inspected my entire front lawn and underneath all plants and advised me that he saw absolutely no sign of gopher activity. I cannot tell you how much I appreciated both Michael and David and their honesty. They were also extremely thoughtful, professional, and understanding of my situation. These people have been great. They have really helped me with my gopher problem by catching 10-12 in about five weeks. They taught me what to do when they are finished so I can hopefully keep things under control. They offer both poison and traps. Trapping is a bit more costly but it is safer if you have pets like we do. read more

Excellent service and honesty! A gopher problem has been plaguing us for months. We needed help. Called Hurst and Mike was over the same day. He took his time and examined the issue from every corner of our property. Eventually he apologized and admitted that although he would be able to remove some gophers he could not offer his usual guarantee and therefore felt he could not take the job. (The gophers are coming in from a neighbor's yard and without some serious exclusion efforts, they would just come back after we cleaned out those already on the property.) Mike spent time to explain how I could plant new plants (the gopher has been using our yard as buffet...) in ways that would keep them safe from the gopher. He gave suggestions on possible exclusion efforts I could take and did not try to sell me anything. Mike is a true professional and believes his business should stand behind what they are selling. I can't praise Mike enough for his professionalism and courteousness. I have a gopher problem and Mike spent a long time with me explaining the situation and developing a treatment plan. He was very honest about what to expect and how his warranty worked. We were about to start but then I mentioned that I had an outdoor cat that is quite a hunter - brought me half eaten gophers and birds many times. That put a stop on the plan since I cannot control the cat and would not want to risk it being poisoned. What really impressed me was how Mike handled it. This review is long overdo. Our second experience with Hurst Pest Control was beyond all expectations. I just gave birth to my first baby with my husband and 3 months in, we found out we had bed bugs. It was a terrifying experience for many reasons: 1. My hormones were off the chart. 2. The possibility of our baby getting bit. And 3. The lack of sleep every night until we fixed the problem. Mike with Hurst came in, inspectedC and found the evidence. He was real with us up front with the way to get rid of them effectively in addition to other cost effective ways- he was not pushy AT ALL which is always what I'm afraid of in these situations. We ended up going to 100% elimination from the get go because it wasn't worth the risk. Mike and his wife treated us like family from the beginning. They were both very patient with my raging hormones and emotional episodes. Bedbugs are no joke with a first time mom and a newborn under one roof and they made the entire process seamless. He called after the treatment to check in and see how everything went and if we needed anything else which is a testament to how much they truly care about their customers. On Monday April 17, 2023 , I hired Hurst Exterminators to catch and remove the gophers who have taken up residence in my front yard and who are trying their best to destroy my beautiful front lawn. Oceanside, Ca. David from Hurst Exterminators placed 6 tube style traps in my front yard for $250. Way overpriced. Two weeks have almost past with not one gopher being caught and my yard looking worse. I had Hurst exterminator come back to pick up their waste of time traps. That do not work. Worst part about it, I could not get them to return to service the traps. They always gave me reasons why they could not check the traps. Be warned. Stay clear from this company ; you too will be scammed. Signed; I was scammed out of $250.00 This company does not care about their customers and who have failed to resolve the problem. I work for a company out in Pala. Surprisingly many places won't visit our facility. 8 days ant fee!! I called on a Thursday morning and told Michael my problems. He explained chemicals, different treatment ideas and what I would REALISTICALLY need. No add ons, no fancy talking to confuse me just honest opinions and knowledge. I felt really good about him and his opinion. He even offered to fit me in before his next stop for the day! I was hoping for immediate cure but definitely didn't expect someone to go out of their way for me right then. When he got to my home it started raining so, again, he told me realistic goals considering water was not working in our favor. He guaranteed his work and so far so good! Quick and friendly! Just what I hoped for. My husband tried 4 different at home bug/ant killers of the in home/outside variety. Ants would be MIA for 30 min after use and we would see them again in every room to the extent of coming out of the power outlets, under the carpet and in the closets..including all of the other rooms and places in the house you could or couldn't think of. About a year ago I had Hurst come to take care of a spider problem in our vacation rental. I was very impressed with their honesty as they did not try to sell me a service that wouldn't work. They did a great job and were honest. Fast forward to over a year later, and we have a sudden problem with roaches in the same house. I just spoke to them on the phone and again they were so helpful, giving me hints of what to do (depending on the type of roach) and not trying to sell me anything! This company has excellent customer service! I had a terrible and bizarre situation with my neighbor taking bee removal into his own hands and me consequently dealing with the reprocussions. Unfort due to my neighbors non compliance and the bees being so agitated this company was unable to remove the bees for me, but one of the reps (who's name i am completely blanking on) spoke to me multiple times. I was given free advice and counseling, and honestly just support. My situation was extremely stressful and I was entirely clueless on how to handle it. I called a complete mess with disorganized thoughts. The rep sat on the phone with me for an upwards of 30 minutes each time, getting me calmed down and giving me the best advice he could. If I need removal services in the future I would absolutely be using their services, and I would recommend them to anyone I know. Keep it up guys! Not many companies care about people any more. After closing on my new home, I discovered it was being invaded by ants. I've had ants before but this was BAD! In a hurry to claim my territory before the ants did, I looked to yelp to find the quickest most honest (and reasonably priced) pest control in San Diego county. Hurst had positive reviews so I called. They made arrangements between my crazy busy work schedule and moving-in schedule to meet me for an estimate. They were super honest, let me know that it could take a couple of days before I saw results. The next day they did the work, and 24 hours later not an ant was seen (alive). I have been completely ant (and bug) free for 3 months!! I have had exterminators in the past spend more time selling me on plans and contracts instead of the immediate problem.
