We came here on a Saturday afternoon and the place wasn't crowded. I enjoyed my meal, but our waitress was TERRIBLE. We were seated by the hostess and waited about 10 minutes for our waitress to come over. When she did, she never actually introduced herself or anything. She didn't write our order down either, so one of the sandwiches came out incorrect (not missing anything, but a completely different item on the menu). We couldn't address it with her, because she never came back to the table - one of us had to go get her to get more drinks and ask for the check. She had our table and the table behind us, so I'm not sure how she was so M.I.A (especially since this is a small place). The two other waiters were working diligently, and cleared our table when we were done. I would try one of the other locations before returning to this one. read more

NO! No, no, no. I have been mostly vegetarian for 8 years (been eating seafood again for 6), and I really hate this food. I have come here with vegans, vegetarians, and meat eaters, and no one is ever 100% happy. I like their California Burger, but it's not the greatest thing I've ever had. Their crappy juices cost $6... that's right... $6!!! I suppose this place is good if you want a vegan brunch (tofu scramble, tempeh bacon, etc), but I can make way better at home, trust me. Typically I give vegan/vegetarian restaurants 4 stars just for being so damn innovative and trying to establish a new eating ethic. But V-Spot barely deserves 2 stars and is one of the most disappointing places I've been to in a while. Dark, tiny, not terribly clean with no decor, the most overwhelming part of the experience is how the staff don't even care that they show you their "I don't give a shit" mentality without pretending. Our server just gestured to us to sit down at a table that wasn't even cleaned. The menu itself doesn't sound bad--burgers, thai choices, salads, soups, sandwiches, and "brunch"--all vegan. I ordered raw nori rolls, squash soup, steamed broccoili (8 dollars, 5 dollars, 5 dollars). The portion sizes were not reasonable for the price--4 tiny pieces about an inch diameter of half-ass nori rolls and 8 pieces of broccoli were definitely not worth the 13 bucks. The butternut squash soup was spicy and sweet. No one came around to ask if we wanted anything else, requests took so long to come that they were useless. I would NOT come again. Oh, yeah, and it got a "B" rating. Since every hole in the wall seems to get an "A" recently, a "B" doesn't inspire confidence. Go to Dao Palate a few blocks down. We were given a gift certificate for this place and were so excited to try out a different vegan restaurant. Unfortunately the service was super slow. Took 45 minutes to get our food. Food was bland. If you are vegan and want delicious, game day food, this is your place! Great wings, excellent nachos, etc. However, if you are a vegan health nut, this is not for you. The food is heavy and sometimes greasy. I ordered the kale salad once and it was clearly not washed before preparation. There was gritty dirt in every bite. I gave them another chance and ordered it again after mentioning it was full of grit last time. I was promised it would be cleaned before preparation, but it came exactly the same, dirty and inedible. Stick with the junk food and forget healthy when eating here and you'll be alright. read more

This review is long overdue. I have eaten at dozens of vegan places all over the city, some good and some bad, but I've never learned to hate a place as much I do the V Spot. This place has a super cute ambiance and a decent menu, and I've given it several tries in the past. By several, I mean 5. My boyfriend tried to remind me of the awful service and subpar food each time, but I'd always give it another chance because of what it's supposed to be. I'd tell myself maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. How can I order the wrong thing 5 times in a row? Especially when i even tried the breakfast burrito, which only made me sad and longing for more. It saddens me that a restaurant with as much potential as The V Spot can suck so much ass. Maybe if the service was at least decent, I could justify paying $10 for a plate of penne that I could have made myself at home, and possibly heated it to a desirable temperature. I work in the service industry, so I know how big of a pain rude customers can be, but when you have super nice and friendly customers who respectably great you, you should be grateful and actually nice to them, not treat them like complete shit and ignore them and look at them like damn retards when you do actually stop talking about your fabulous shoes and your weekend spent shopping with your girlfriends and wait on them. Rude customers don't even deserve that sort of treatment. what's the deal with the waitstaff here? I've been there for both brunch and dinner, and at times was the only person in the place, and I was treated like complete shit. This place is a sorry excuse for a restaurant, and an even sorrier excuse for a vegan one. seriously. I'm usually confused about bad reviews, but this places good reviews I find extremely hard to believe. Being from the south, I will tell you that this is not "soul food", by any means. A hilarious effort, perhaps. The owner needs to give up and sell the place, or start giving a shit and making some changes. I'll give it 2 stars, because my chocolate cake was pretty tasty, but I doubt that it was baked on the premises. Don't bother with the milkshakes. I stopped by the V-spot on my way to the beach; on a hot, steamy day, a nice vegan meal with some good fruit juice seemed like just the thing to get us going, but I left feeling like I overpaid far before we got to the boardwalk. The restaurant has a good layout and seemed pretty nice. We sat outside, and my only complaint with the backyard is a general lack of shade on a hot day. Our table was extremely rickety, however, and throughout the meal drinks and food alike bounced around on it. The food was completely unremarkable. I got the "california veggie burger," and while the patty was among the more flavorful veggie burgers I've had, the toppings were awkwardly sized, oily, and sparse, and the bun crumbled in my hands. it sat beside a more or less undressed pile of bland mixed greens, and I opted for the 2$ upgrade to sweet potato fries; these were cool, limp, and soggy by the time they arrived. The best part of the food was the juice, which came out room temperature - no problem, since the staff told me it would and offered a cup of ice. A tiny paper cup filled with not nearly enough ice for the juice, which was 6$ and not bad. The staff was the most perplexing part of the meal. They were awkward throughout and took a long time to do anything, even bring change. All in all, the meal took about twice as long as normal, cost a little more than seemed reasonable, and was (or so I'd wished) immediately forgettable. It gets a second star because I didn't really actively dislike anything; like so much mediocre vegan cooking, it simply focused on what wasn't there rather than what was. read more

The food was amazing and very flavorful - I had the philly cheese empanadas (definitely get them! It's not too cheesy!) and the lasagna, which was so, so good, I practically licked the bowl clean. My boyfriend had the jamaican jerk wrap, and it was very fulfilling for him, which is a first for a vegetarian dish. We also shared the spring rolls, which was done better than some Viet restaurants that we've been to. We will definitely be back! read more

I have a love/hate relationship with this place because the food in fantastic but everything else is NOT GOOD!! The bathroom is GROSS! The menu is sticky .... Let's pause on that one .... the tables are wobbly, and the service is subpar. I went there with my sister and my kids. We ordered the pancakes with strawberries, lentil soup, tacos, rice and beans and the sampler with the choice of breakfast Empanadas. The pancakes with strawberries were excellent. They came with fake sausage that tasted like real sausage. The tacos were tasty, but it didn't really taste like meat inside. The sampler was ok. The nachos and gluten free summer rolls were pretty gross. But the breakfast Empanadas were really good and tasty. The lentil soup was savory and filling. But the big problem with the food was they brought it cold,very cold. Also the seating was cramped and uncomfortable. The staff was unfriendly. And the service was very bad. They didn't come and take our order, clean our table or help us at all unless we called them several times. They forgot syrup for the pancakes and sour cream for the tacos. We closed out our lunch with lemonade. It was good, but very bitter. read more

DO NOT ORDER DELIVERY FROM THE V-SPOT! Why do I keep giving the V-Spot a chance!?!? Every time I've ordered from the V-Spot 1 of 5 things have happened: it took almost 2hrs to arrive; the order was lost and never arrived; an item was missing; because they were out of something, they substituted my meal with something totally different without calling to ask me; or only part of a dish arrived (1/2 cup of curried kale when I know that in the restaurant it is served in a full bowl. I actually walked down to the restaurant and showed the waiter and he laughed and said, "yeah, no, there should be more.") Tonight I ordered from them at 7:50pm and at 10:05pm it hadn't arrived. I called them and they said they would try to get it out to me but that they closed in 5 minutes. I told them that I thought I should be comped the meal, as you wouldn't make a customer who was in the restaurant pay after waiting more than 2hrs; however, they told me they would only be willing to comp a $6 appetizer. I cancelled the order. Laughably poor PR, laughably poor service, laughably poor management. I keep giving them a chance, but this restaurant is horribly managed. read more

I feel bad for having to give this review because I have been eating here for so long and I feel so disappointed how things have changed. They closed the restaurant and reopen and this place hasn't been the same since. The menu is so different now and the food is bland and dry. They use to sell the "chicken parm" sandwich and pizzas but they stopped, I think this place is just still open because its living off the name the previous people made for itself. Literally the worst service me and my other friend have ever experienced. The guy is in his own world. The place has two tables. The amount to take our order was a minimum 15 minutes. The ladies behind us left 30 minutes ago and the table still has everything on it, including their check. The server is super nice he's just not a good server - in the least. It's boggling. It sucks because you always want to rip a server but it's awkward to suggest ways to be not completely awful at your job without the other person taking offense. I am a vegan and absolutely love the food at V-Spot. My girlfriend and I usually go here every weekend and love the Columbian empanadas. Their salsa is awesome, their mac and cheese is amazing, and the coffee is usually very good. However, I do have complaints! Their service is some of the worst I've ever experienced. I don't think I've ever had a meal there without seeing a "help wanted" sign on the window. There is usually only 1 waiter for the entire restaurant so you will have to wait a very long time to order, to receive your food, and to receive and pay the bill. I went here today and didn't receive my coffee and agave until after I had finished my meal and requested it multiple times. As others have mentioned, the delivery is awful. Last time I ordered, I received a phone call about 30 minutes later saying they were out of empanadas. The time before that, the food took two hours to arrive and one of the items was missing! Despite the horrendous service I keep going back because the food is generally awesome, therefore if you can handle awful service for good food then go for it. If not, skip it. read more

I am a proud meat eater, however I do think about the chicken and spare them every now and then. I had gone here with my other half by accident, she is a proud vegetarian and we simply had to try! Wow, it's one of our top 5 favorite finds. The food here is how you say Delicous! I love it, I love their outdoor seatings, and their vast menu, that satisifies my hunger.
