While you're at it, get some rags and wipe down the walls. As soon as you get the place clean, higher some faster servers that move at a normal pace. Service should never be that slow when the place is half full. Lets forget about how awful the food is for a second. If plantains are 3 for $1, wraps are 10 for $3 and 12 oz's of vegan cheese is $4 why is a quesadilla $10 here? Just think about that. Empanadas were good thou. Not worth coming back for. read more

Great spot to grab latin theme fare. I tried the Bandeja Paisa and it was great! Just wish their avocado portion was a bit larger. I also tried their bourbon ginger cocktail and it pretty! Super excited to have a spot to enjoy vegan latin food. Tasty food and drinks! My only recommendation is for them to pay a bit more attention to their presentation - garnishes for their drinks and their playing for their dishes - prices are on the higher end and that should match their presentation. Overpriced and not tasty food. Spent $36 on a bland lentil soup, a cauliflower bowl "entree" that was only deep fried, overly sweet cauliflower and nothing with it (no rice or anything), a tasteless, watery "shake" and a small bland empanada that was only saved by the spicy sauce. read more

I visited this place a few weeks.. my sister and I were just looking for something quick to eat... we hadn't planned eating out and being Vegan this usually means feeling lucky if we found a place we can order rice and avocado somewhere.. The spot is fire. Went for brunch on a Sunday afternoon and had the taco breakfast. It was awesome. Accompanied with a pitcher of margarita. Yum! Service was good, everyone's food was hot and fresh. Been here twice for brunch and it's been great both times! I love sitting at the bar and chatting with the guys that work there. They are very friendly and personable and the conversation makes for a great time. For starts, I love the $10 all you can drink mimosas! Definitely worth it! I've had the vegan pancakes with sausage both times and they are delicious and satisfy my brunch pancake craving. Another favorite is the arepa with plantains, chicken, avocado and hot sauce. I've eaten at V Spot since they first opened many years ago, and was giggling at their funny name like an embarrassed 13 year-old who already figured out what a "G Spot" is. I was happy to find this funky vegan restaurant and its eclectic clientele, especially since other neighborhood vegetarian restaurants had closed over the years (Who's on Seventh, Henrietta's on the Slope) and not been replaced by healthy or vegetarian-friendly eateries. I'll never eat at Rose Water, which took over the Henrietta's location, because they have no vegetarian (forget vegan) entrees, and are priced for the rich gentrifiers who ostensibly kicked me out so they could pay the tripled rent. $13 for a tabouleh "starter" salad is a finisher for me. They can jam it in their $30 roasted pork loin. Back to V Spot. Unfortunately, the food at V Spot is not reliable. Despite this, V Spot still offers good vegan fuel. A number of times, the brown rice has been hard, as though it were scraped off the edge of the pot where it had baked into a dehydrated brittle crust. The last time I was here, the couple next to me was sending their inedible brown rice back to the kitchen for the reasons aforementioned reason. When simple staples are not consistent, it's a problem. Get the quality control together. Occasionally, cooked dishes intended to be served warm arrive at your wobbling table only slightly warmer than room-temperature; service can be slow; drinks and side dishes have been forgotten, etc. Every now and then, the restaurant is filled with smoke from the kitchen, and your clothes smell like they have been soaking in a deep fryer by the time you leave. A few of the servers seem well-intentioned and have friendly service personalities, like the stocky young brother, but the quality is inconsistent. But I go back, regardless. The stellar Angelica Kitchen, where the wait staff would never write your orders down, and never mess them up, is gone forever. Snooty but delicious Candle 79 on the Upper East Side is too far away and way overpriced, and V Spot is cheap and local. Here, you get what you pay for. read more

Small place but big on taste. This restaurant is making my recent transition to being a vegetarian very easy. Have not had a dish that has disappointed me and the vegan carrot cake is probably the best carrot cake I have ever had. Looks super dry until you bite into and it's amazing. As far as the entrees I recommend the bandeja paisa as you get a little bit of everything. The lasagna is also delicious but with so many options I continue to try something new every time. Only downfall is they do run out of several options sometimes but not to worry as this will not ruin your experience. Service is great too! Parking is not as bad as you think either. Furthest I've ever had to park was one block away and not search for too long. read more

Words cannot describe how amazing this food is. All I can say is you NEED to drop every other idea you have of where to eat and GO TO V SPOT. I have become dangerously obsessed with the food here & I come a half hour out of the way just to get the V spot burrito and the appetizer sampler. I am vegan & I really appreciate the fact that they make the most amazing versions of stuff I used to love & still do such as nachos, empanadas, burgers, and burritos! My mouth waters every time I think back to the food I ate here. The service is great too, the people are very nice. I have never ordered something I did not like! Just writing this review makes me crave their food & I literally had it the other day while in Brooklyn to see family. Introduced my cousins to this place too & now they're hooked as well. Super excited to drag everyone I know to this place. If you are vegan and you love spanish food as much as I do, this SPOT (ha) is a MUST. Trust me. read more

Sadly, like most vegan restaurants, this one lacks a good interior decoration/vibe. This includes the wardrobe of the manager, who was actually very nice and attentive, but poorly dressed. I ordered three empanadas which were very tasty but the presentation was cheesy. The carne tacos I ordered came room temperature and missing half of their ingrediants [avocado and refried beans!!] They did make me a new plate but never apologized for the mistake. I'm sorry to say even with the missing ingrediants, the tacos were not that interesting. In the end, they did take a drink off my tab, but not because the food was made and sent out wrong, but because I'd waited so long for the bartender to serve me a drink even tho there was not a full house. He is very meticulous which on some level is great but makes him a ridiculously slow bartender. Not a great meal but passable. read more

I have ordered a few items from here since moving to Brooklyn. Good for vegan fast food. Do not expect too much as the quality is correlated with the price. The food was good but there was no AC when I visited and it was a very hot day. Mushroom empanadas and the veggie spring rolls were a hit. Service was nice but kind of slow. This restaurant proves that a vegetarian meal doesn't have to consist of a bunch of side dishes. The extensive menu mixes many cuisines--Mexican, pan-Asian, American, and Italian to name a few. The green juices are very thick and fresh--like a deconstructed salad in a glass. The kale tostadas sprinkled with vegan parmesan cheese had an excellent spicy sauce on them, and the hummus made with red pepper and paprika served with plenty of hot, fresh whole wheat pita and chunks of fresh cucumber and tomato was also a tasty appetizer. The fresh, hot brownies iced with dark and white chocolate are out of this world (and not identifiable as vegan). What. the Hell. The service here is so horrendous it was almost like it was a joke. I walked in by myself and said "Hi!" and literally didn't get a response. I think the guy up front pointed vaguely towards the tables. Ooookay. So I sat down. A guy came to my table and just stood there. I guess I was supposed to order. No words were spoken by him. I have kept true to my word that I would not go back to their overpriced, mediocre restaurant after my last experience. However, my partner in crime frequents a nearby 5th Ave bodega, and keeps coming home with V-spot empanadas. They make 'em at V-Spot and keep local grocery stores stocked. Okay, so a few months ago, he brought home a Jerk "chicken" empanada, which was decent. So the next time he went out and bought V-spot empanadas, I was even looking forward to it and thinking of giving the restaurant another chance. Nope. They were MOLDY. They looked totally normal from the outside, but the inside was full of more green fuzz than tofu. And they'd been packed the day before. What the hell, V-Spot? And I guess we were feeling optimistic, so we brought home a new batch of V-Spot's finest tonight. Lo-and-behold! V-Spot found a way to make their empanadas mold-proof! Wanna know how? Wait for it... ...they leave out the filling! HA! HA! Um. Wait. Yeah. Real funny guys. Make a fist-sized half-moon bread wrapper and put like, 3 sad pieces of corn, a bean, some sort of tiny dessicated leaf and no seitan at all inside. I think the vegans stuffing these are so malnourished, they can't lift the spoon full of filling to the dumpling wrapper. read more

HORRIBLE service and PLASTIC/METAL in the food. I have been going here for years and when something goes wrong I always give it another chance because the food is good and it's one of the few all vegan places in Brooklyn. I want to love the V-Spot and I want it to be an amazing experience but each time I go, it gets worse. I've had so many bad experiences: extremely slow service, wrong orders, orders mixed up....it's almost as if the wait staff are high. Today my friends were taking me out for a birthday lunch and my friend found a PIECE OF A PLASTIC BOTTLE CAP IN HER burrito. Here's the kicker: this was NOT the first time an inedible object was found in the food here. Two summers ago another friend of mine found METAL IN HIS HAWAIIAN BURGER. We boycotted the place for about 6 months, but then I went back. I have NO idea what the cooks are doing back there. The management does a very poor job of monitoring the conditions in the kitchen, and even poorer job monitoring the waitstaff. I will never be going back to the V-Spot! Please BEWARE!!! read more

First off, I wanna say that I don't like writing bad reviews. In fact, if you check out other reviews that I have written, then you would see that I am not a skeptic or someone that is never satisfied. People should know the truth about this place if they're going to eat here. The first time I went to this place, it was my birthday and I had the pleasure of having a head hair (long strand) cooked into my food. Not exactly a great experience to start. They tried to replace it but after having almost ingested the long hair that was cooked into my empanada, I lost my appetite. (Hair Invested Food) The next time I went there, I ordered a brownie cheesecake to go. Keep in mind that the container was sealed when we purchased it. I brought it home and started to eat it. When I got to the bottom, something was moving...IT WAS A ROACH! IT WAS ALIVE AND CRAWLING!!! IT TRAVELED IN THE CONTAINER!!! Granted, they were small, but they were definitely cockroaches, and there were several of them crawling up the wall nearest the kitchen. Also, it is not a huge restaurant, and they seated us at a squashed table in the corner up against a plywood wall that was about 85 degrees. Not sure what was going on behind that wall, but it was not a suitable table for this kind of heat. The food is not that good and reminds me of warmed up Morningstar Farms. The best part though is the comedy show. I love me some 'edgy' comedy especially when the owner's brother gets up there and says some seriously sexist and racist stuff. You know its 2015, so we can all relax about race. One of the wonders of living in Brooklyn is that I don't need to return to restaurants that I find to be substandard...and yet I've returned here quite a few times. And I'm not even vegan! What is wrong with me? Am I a glutton for punishment? The food is largely mediocre. Nothing horrible, nothing memorable. Their fries inevitably manage to get soggy when you get take-out. I have a love/hate relationship with this place. I LOVE their nachos and jerk chicken wrap. The nachos, especially with plantain chips, are serious nachos. And the jerk chicken has an amazing spice to it. My girl prefers the chicken burrito. I can't deny that some of the food is really delicious here. The Quinoa with Curried Kale was a pretty solid dish. Also recently had some ginger beverage made with all freshly squeezed juice and it was damn tasty. I LOVE their outdoor patio. Really nice outdoor space when the weather is nice. I LOVE the attitude. The service is all very nice and the menu is an honest attempt to to appease vegans but also introduce vegan cuisine to non-vegans. I HATE their service. Despite being very nice, this place keeps you waiting, no matter how few people are in there. Getting the check takes forever. One time we were sitting at our table for over 20 minutes without any wait service and I finally had to get up and tell the guy how long we'd been waiting, despite the fact that the place didn't seem that busy. I don't think the staff is managed very well. I HATE the ambiance. And I'm no ambiance snob. In fact I could hardly care less. But something about the interior (not the outdoor patio) is so ugly and has the worst lighting. Not the most attractive place to eat. I HATE the fact that the health department gave them a "B". A "B" isn't the end of the world and it doesn't stop me from eating there but 5th Ave is PACKED with restaurants and this place is surrounded by A's. read more

Slightly pricey for the quality they offer. I had the buffalo wings and guacamole; both were a bit bland (the wings were smothered in sauce though, so that kinda masked the blandness) but not too bad. My waiter was pleasant and attentive, so I can't complain about the service. All in all, an okay experience. If you're vegan and have limited options, it's definitely worth stopping by. I'm a vegetarian and it was worth it to stop in and try. I haven't tried the desserts yet and mental-noted a lot of other things I thought would be interesting to try, so I'll be going back. The food was bad and the service sucked. We were given glasses of warm water shortly after sitting down. Really, just plain ol' warm water. We were also given complimentary chips which honestly just tasted blegh. I ordered the pad thai. It tasted really funky, and not in a good way. I honestly don't understand how someone can screw up noodles. But the noodles were a strange, gross consistency and tasted overcooked. The tofu that came with it was undercooked and really blah. My boyfriend had the veggie burger with fries. He said the burger was "meh" at best. I nibbled on his fries, and they too sucked. How do you screw up fries?!?! He also ordered a milkshake. It came back the consistency of chocolate milk. He said it would have tasted good had it actually been the consistency of milkshake. I'm not exaggerating when I say it really was nearing the consistency of water. It was quite strange. I was also really small considering it was 5 dollars. I ordered a soda and it never came. When we ordered the milkshake, it took forever to get to the table. The check also took forever to come. I love love this place! Super tasty vegan options. I've been here for lunch and dinner but this was the first time I was there for brunch. It was great! It's so hard to find vegan brunch options so I was stoked when I realized The VSPOT did brunch. We ordered mimosas, chilaquiles, pancakes, and the tofu rancheros. Everything was superb! The jerk "chicken" wrap hits a home run. Other standouts are the sides -- the sweet potato fries and kale. The eggplant panini and portabella sandwich were pretty standard --- on my next visit I should deviate and try their nachos, chorizo, and other Latin-vegan fusions. Were I a vegan, and not just giving my body a break from meat occasionally, I would truly appreciate all the options they have going. I had no idea vegan food could not only be this creative, but this GOOD. Of West Indian descent, I not only love meat, but I have been spoiled with rich flavors. Vegan food definitely lacked one (meat), but it's always a hit or miss if they lack the other (flavor). Every memory of trying began food cane with staleness. THIS PLACE, THOUGH? The food is cooked so well and tastes so delicious, I was licking my fingers with every bite. I got the platter so I'd try a variety of everything. Their vegan buffalo wings...? SO good. A tougher bite than actual chicken, yet that doesn't deter the tastiness. Their avocado fries (first time trying this!) were so yummy and a delightful side. Their empanadas... oh my gosh. Miserable brunch service this past weekend, all the more unfortunate because I was taking my meat-loving girlfriend there to convince her how good vegetarian food is. We put in our order and watched as people who sat down after we arrived were served their meals. After 30 minutes, we inquired about our order, and the server said "I'm sure it won't be too long." Another 20 minutes went by and after trying unsuccessfully to flag her down, we decided to leave. She appeared just as we were putting on our coats. "Oops, somehow your order was lost," she said. "It would have been nice if you checked on our order when we first asked," I said. Her response? "Well, sorry about that. You know what, I'll cover your coffee for you." My, how gracious! read more

If I would have written a review for The V Spot a year ago, I probably would have given it 5 stars with the preface that it was a bit on the expensive side. However, it is *or was* a great vegetarian restaurant. However, I don't know if they are under new management or cleaned house, but the food is now awful. I've been ordering the same thing every time, and yet the quality has diminished greatly. I have tried other items on the menu and have been served cold, or even just a sparse side of fries. For that amount of money, my fries should at least be HOT, and more then a few on a plate. Three months ago, I order delivery and found a hair in my fries. GROSS! This was the nail in the coffin that made me throw out my WHOLE over priced meal. Later down the line friends were over and wanted to try their food. I bulked but complied. Food was still lack luster, hairless, but lack luster. Now, three months later, I order for delivery again hoping that my prior order was a fluke. What did I find in the half order of under cooked fries? ANOTHER HAIR. I am saddened that I threw out my untouched food and watch $12 go down the drain.
