Coming from California, I was looking for a regular pho restaurant and this fit the bill. My favorite dishes are their Bun Bo Hue and Bun Rieu. Best place in Delaware to get pho. Ive been coming here for the past 4 months at least once a week. I love the beef pho with brisket, beefball and rare steak. The broth is phenomenal and the noodles are perfect. They aren't soggy at all. Also they just grew their portion sizes so you really get what you pay for. You also get a nice large side of bean sports, Basil, jalapeños and lime so you can add as much as you need. Their service is quick and they've always been so friendly to me. Came here on a random weekday out on a whim. I had a soup craving - specifically a Pho craving and I needed it fulfilled. Came here with my SO and we were pretty hungry so we got the fried rolls as an appetizer to start. It was super hot and super crispy. Really tasty for a vegetarian option. Highly recommended - just don't burn yourself as it's very very hot when it comes out. I got the Beef Pho and my SO got the beef stew. The beef at this place is really good - very tender and overall very fresh. Obviously with Pho they had the traditional things with it: bean sprouts, basil, lime, and jalapenos. Overall the broth was not fatty at all, was a very clean and tasty broth that I thoroughly enjoyed. If you're looking for a place to eat Pho there early isn't any other establishment in the area - I live in Wilmington and this place really lives up to the high ratings. Separate voting categories below-- Selection/authenticity - 4: The selection is phenomenal as they have so many items that I normally would have to travel to other Viet restaurants to get. For example: Bun rieu (crab noodles), banh xeo (vietnamese crepe), banh hoi (fine vermicelli)... mixed alongside the typical pho, bun, rice dishes, and banh mi. Also, they accommodate vegetarians with veggie broth! The only criterion left for me from it receiving a 5 star is no Nem Nuong (like a vietnamese spam with so much garlic and fish sauce flavor)!!! Service - 4: Not bad. Not slow. Water was refilled often. Value - 3: This is the only upsetting part about my dinner here. I ordered a banh hoi dish and was still hungry afterwards. All my friends who ordered pho were still hungry too. The dishes came out to be 10.25 each, which normally should make you full for a vietnamese restaurant! Other places usually have pho dac biet (special x-large pho) for 8.95. I can understand there is no other viet places nearby and they have a monopoly, but this is slightly discouraging when I am still hungry afterwards. Regardless of the value, I still get my vietnamese craving fix here and will come back to try their other dishes to complete a full review of their items. This place already has a ton of reviews, but I wanted to add mine to the mix. It's simply outstanding! The pho is a contender for the best I've tried in Delaware, on par with Pho Cali which I also like, but the menu is larger. There are some unusual items on the menu, such as the soup with tomato, crabmeat, snail ham, and pig blood jelly. Not for people accustomed to a "Western" diet, but I'm a huge fan of that soup, which comes with a side of shredded red cabage and spearmint: broaden your culinary horizons. But the mainstays, like pho and bun, are good too. And the prices are very reasonable. My only complaint is that the service here can be a bit slow, which may reflect the fact that they are a bit understaffed. Perhaps this is what you get when you have a place with prices as low as this and food as good as this...they seem to be focusing on freshness and quality more than service. I've eaten here quite a few times and it's been consistently slow. Don't come here if you're in a hurry...but...this is a great place to enjoy some top-notch food. Looking to get off of I-95 for lunch, found this through Yelp. 15 min off the highway and a much better choice than rest stop dining. We enjoyed shrimp and pork goi cuan (serving of 2 nice rolls--very fresh and good proportions, lotus salad and pork banh mi on a delicious roll with cucumber and cilantro. This place is pretty good. I ordered some spring rolls with grilled pork that were pretty fresh and tasty. I also ordered a beef pho with brisket, meat balls, and tripe. You get your choice of three meats to add to your pho. The broth was very flavorful and rich, but was a bit fatty. The brisket and meat balls were plentiful, but I got almost no tripe. I also ordered the lemonade, but was disappointed how sweet it was. I would avoid sitting in the booths. The tablecloths are dirty and there is all kinds of stuff (bits of hoisin, siracha, and who knows what else) stuck on the walls in the booths. The staff is friendly and welcoming. read more

My best friend and I are Delaware natives and we typically go to Pho Nhu Vu in Bear for our pho fix, however, this day we were on our way to a comedy show in Wilmington and decided to try a new spot. The restaurant is in a plaza off of Kirkwood highway, the sign is very visible from the highway, however we had difficulty finding it within the plaza because it was dark outside and of course their sign on the building was not lit up (it's on the far right side of plaza just FYI). The parking lot was EXTREMELY busy and we lucked up on a parking spot. If we had to park elsewhere, I probably would have said screw it. There are other establishments in the plaza that keep the parking limited (it was a Saturday night). We were seated immediately and there were only about 3-4 other tables being served when we arrived. I must say that the service from that point on was extremely lack and server was beyond inattentive. We ordered beef pho and fried spring rolls. Both were "ehh ok" to me. Similar to Pho Cali which is nearby however vPho is a much cleaner establishment by far. If you like deep, rich flavored pho where you can taste the spices and anise then you'll love it. Me...I prefer a more "clean" pho with less punch to it (Pho Nhu Vu). The upside was that they add a lot of beef to the pho whereas other places I always need to ask for extra. We asked for a side of nuoc mam for our spring rolls...never got it. Server didn't even check on us and we weren't asked for refills until they brought us the check. Even at the time of ordering I was very specific about split checks and he agreed, yet of course it was all on one bill. It took forever to get our food and to finally get checked on and our bill which seriously impacted my rating. All in all, service was trash especially since it was not even close to being busy in there and the food was mediocre. read more

Since I worked at many restaurants such as Sweetwater Tavern, Morton's Steak House, Smith & Wollensky, and Old Ebbit's Grill, I wanted to see if there were consistency on my 2nd trip back to vPho. Consistency is the trademark if the restaurant is going to be truly successful in the long run. Again, I ordered the Banh Xeo and the deluxe bowl of pho with all the meat topping. I also order the Jasmine Tea. The Jasmine Tea was spectacular. I never had Jasmine Tea with my bowl of Pho before. This was Heavenly. Honestly speaking, there were no differences in my differences in the first and second visit. In the end, I will give both dishes a 10. I also want to emphasize that on Consistency Category.....this is also a 10 as well. What this statistic tells you is simple. When you come to vPho for food, there won't be degradation. You will always get that phenomenal experiences. In this case, I enjoy the best Banh Xeo and Pho in Newark. Absolutely delicious!!! I ordered and order of the spring rolls with a bowl of beef pho with rare steak flank, brisket, and beef balls. The order of spring rolls were two normal sized spring rolls cut in half and served with a sweet dipping sauce that I added chili oil to, making it extra delicious! The bowl of pho was very tasty, the broth was very aromatic and the meats were excellent and plentiful! I also ordered a Vietnamese iced coffee to go, which was an excellent finisher! So many vegan and vegetarian options! Even including vegan pho made from their own homemade veggie stock. I got the vermicelli after asking if there is a vegan version with no fish sauce. Usually places just sub soy sauce, which is not the same at all, but this place makes their own veggie sauce for their vermicelli! It tastes amazing. My omni friend tried the veggie sauce and the fish sauce, and said the entire flavor profile is the same with the exception of the veggie sauce not having a fish flavor to it (might be good for omnivores who aren't all about having fish flavor on their food!). I also had the deep fried tofu appetizer, which is basically chicken fried tofu, and the tofu fresh rolls appetizer. Both were amazing and came with delicious sauces.
