We were staying overnight not far away, and were able to order 30 minutes before closing. Wow were we amazed! I ordered Vermicelli with grilled pork & shrimp fresh rolls, while my daughter ordered pho with brisket and the fried pork and shrimp rolls. We also got to meet the owners and their family visiting from Florida. VPho is definitely a family affair, and the food is heavenly, just like sitting in Vietnam with your own (immensely talented) family. Fresh, crisp, flavorful, spicy - every bite was heavenly. Take it from a Vietnamese person herself and trust her when she says, this place is AMAZING and is authentic as it gets. Growing up, I became accustomed to my mom's home cooked Vietnamese food and always refused to eat at Vietnamese restaurants. Why would I pay for this type of food when I can get the real deal at home?! Since moving out after college, I couldn't get my hands onto my mom's 'pho-nomenal' cooking everyday and a girl's gotta eat her pho and banh mi. I started to resort to take out Vietnamese in NYC and started to accept the idea that other people can cook Vietnamese food just like my mother. After trying out places in Philly and NYC, I decided to continue my take-out Vietnamese food streak in my hometown of Newark. My mom mentioned that vPho is a new spot on Kirkwood Highway so we decided to give it a try. HOLY MOLY, we were blown away. Between my mom and I, we ordered the soft shelled crab, special combo pho, grilled pork banh mi, banh hoi thit noung (fine vermecellli with pork, pick veggies, and lettuce), and for dessert we got the acai bowl and 3 bean sweet soup (che ba mau). WE WERE BLOWN AWAY. The banh mi is one of the best I've had ever and I need to know where they get their bread. After our first visit, I've also tried their bun bo hue (spicy beef noodles) and another vermicelli dish. The thing that surprises me the most is how good the acai bowls are here! We were on a short trip to Wilmington, DE with the kiddos for a quick getaway. Our suite had a kitchen. We didn't want to cook since we were on a trip. We came upon vPho while searching for take-out spots. I'm sure the ratings speak for themselves in the community. As a native NYer, we have higher standards with food. We're naturally spoiled by our city from all walks of life and cuisines. Personally, I haven't come across any Vietnamese spots in the South that resemble NYC. I'm not sure, if it's the variation in cooking or we're just pretty spoiled. Our take-out might had fell short compared to the raving reviews from other customers. We ordered the following: Grilled Pork Chop with Vermicelli (Bun Thit Nuong): pork chop pieces tasted tough. Mine didn't come with any pickled radish or carrots, bean sprouts, etc. Only cucumbers and lettuce. Aside from the meat, it would had been a comfort dish for a hot day. Grilled Pork Chop (Com Suon): pieces were thin and tough, particularly for our kiddos. Beef Cubes with Rice (Com Bo Luc Lac): the seasoning is different from what we're used to coming from NYC. We're used to a thicker sauce that adds more depth and flavor. It's interesting that a lot of familiar dishes taste different depending which part or where you're traveling to. It was also brought to my attention that vPho uses genuine beef bones in their broth and no MSG in their food. I was under the impression that most Vietnamese restaurants in the South substitute their broth with the MSG version. Not in this case with this spot! There were other items that we didn't get to order. We'll give another try the next time we visit. read more

Had the fried spring roll and beef pho. The fried spring rolls were good, but very very greasy (more than the usual fried foods). The filing needed to be better combined and choped but overall flavor was solid. Strange that they use duck sauce to accompany the spring roll rather than Vietnamese sauce. Pho was good, the broth was rich and flavor was food. The noodles came a bit congealed but the hot broth took care off that quickly. The service is good but they get busy and always have a lot of orders and people eating inside so just be patient. Went on a Saturday for lunch with a friend. The place is very out of the way, on a semi hidden side of a strip mall, but was busy. Waited about 5-10 min to get a table. The wait staff were a bit distracted, took another 10 mon before they finally came over & took our order. They don't have a lot of choices of Pho, maybe 6 types. Our fried rolls & pho came out after maybe 15 minutes. the rolls were Good, but we only recieved 2 of them. Good place for pho and banh mi in Delaware. I was very impressed with how much you can customize your pho, including meat and broth choices. I always judge pho by the broth and it was excellent here. The wait staff are very kind and pleasant. Prices are reasonable. The teriyaki chicken steamed dumplings were delicious. Someone mentioned this place is ahead of pho cali and other pho places. My husband & I have tried every Vietnamese place in DE & we will definitely be coming back. 2nd choice would be Pho Cali, but their decor/setup is outdated. We went yesterday for Valentines and it was somewhat busy. Only downfall is slow service. Took nearly 10-15 mins for the waiter to take our order. For appetizers we ordered Egg rolls & Spring Roll(Fresh). Egg rolls were very flavorful & Spring were a good size & fresh. For our main course, I ordered the Beef Banh Hoi which was very tasty and plenty of condiments. My husband ordered the Pho Tai Bo Vien, broth was very good, portion size was adequate. Their ThAi Tea was delicious! Overall, although the service was slow, the waiter was very friendly and they packed my to go neatly & decent price. As an elite Yelper, I owe the truth. First is trying to findthem, they are on the side of the strip mall. My first impression was very positive when I saw the city mural on the wall, the Tiffany style lamps, and authentic looking swinging chair along the side. However, this feeling dwindled after I stepped inside wondering if I should seat myself or wait? An employee looked at me after awhile, and then she walked to an empty table... I was still wondering where I should sit, since she never greeted me or welcomed me in. She eventually nodded for me to sit down. "Something to drink?" (I hate this and have mentioned in other reviews, this is a sign of inexperience, to me, I should given or offered water first without a request, a suggestion could be made, or at least let me open the menu!). Water I answered... She returned with water 1-2 minutes later, and I just opened the menu and she said "ready to order?" Then I have to ask about MSG. She answered most things do, but she will check. I appreciate the honesty. Then another lady came out who took her time suggesting the dishes they have without it. Most of menu was eliminated. I could have fresh spring roll with tofu, or non meat, any of the salads, rice, chicken wings, Bulgogi beef (tempting!), or a crepe... I ordered the Lotus Salad (which I planned on anyway, but really wanted sate, and pho!) :( and I asked if she had avocado shake... They did so I ordered one. Food was delivered, but not the shake. I almost waited to eat while waiting for it, as I usually have an avocado shake first. Then after mostly eating my salad, I still never got my shake. Finally requested it, it was brought out when I had almost no food left. So I had to ask for a to go cup :( Bathroom had barely any hand soap, but seemed clean. Despite the limited Vietnamese dining Delaware had to offer, I was pretty stoked when vPho became the newest addition. You know I had to try it out myself! Therefore, I'm pleasantly pleased. Just not WOWED. This is a family owned run restaurant. Decor was decent with a little modern flair. I liked how their menus offered Combo meals. Which is something you don't quite frequently see in Viet places. For instance, the Pho and Banh Mi combo and their V-Box that is consisted of a lil bit of everything. Not the best I've had. However, isn't the worse neither. Since it is still relatively new, maybe overtime there will be some improvements with service. Other than that, I hope this spot is here for the long run. read more

Finally a good Viet joint in Delaware! Came in for lunch and was so excited I wanted to order everything but settled for Bun Dac Biet ( special combo vermicelli) AND got a Banh Mi (viet hogie). *dont judge me* delicious!!!! I chose the Bi for my banh mi and it was amazing my gf had a bite since she has never had it before and from the look on her face she loved it as well. My vermicelli was really good I like how the "nuc mam" (fish sauce) was in a little syrup dispenser was more convenient than other places who put vin a small bowl. My bf and gf both got the Pho Dac Biet (special) and I got to eat some of his. The Beef broth is really good I can taste all the spices and reminded me of back home and my childhood. Second time I came here I ordered the bun bo hue which was very good not as spicy as I expected but had real good flavor. When I stumbled upon this place on Yelp, I got excited, because I love pho and bun and I've tried some other pho restaurants locally, and they just don't do it for me. So the same exact day that I saw their reviews, I went to see if it was worth all of the hype. I ordered the bun with the fried spring roll and my parent ordered one of the lunch combos. Finally! A good Pho place in DE. I've tried others in the area and they were just okay. I came to vPho with high hopes based on the Yelp reviews I was reading. The decor inside is nice ! We were immediately sat down and I noticed how busy the place was for lunch even though it was a weekday (good sign). I got the combo deal which included a choice of pho and a bah mi hoagie. I got the steak pho (I like how you can customize it by choosing the three meats you want in your pho) and the classic bah mi hoagie. The pho broth is so good. Didn't have to add any extra sauce to it. You got a decent amount of meat as well. My dad got the regular steak pho bowl which was bigger then mine but that's fine since my lunch was a combo. The hoagie came on a crunch french type bread and the veggies and meat inside taste very fresh and the meat was seasoned well. Very pleased overall by the food and good prices as well! Omg. I finally found an amazing pho restaurant down here!! The lady is sooo nice and humble. They serve both meat and vegan food which is great because im vegan and my husband is not! I order e the veggie pho and fresh rolls with veggies and tofu. Delicious. I was expecting the broth to lack in depth or have too many strong aeronautics to make up for not having meat but it was savory, refreshing and delicious! I asked for vegan taro bubble tea with soy milk and she said she would have to make it to see if it was good because she didn't want to serve food that wasn't good. It was delicious. Great new Pho spot that just opened up nearby me. Disclaimer, I've only been there once (just today) and I order their "C2 - Combo". First off the combo is an amazing deal, it comes with a choice of their Bahn Mi and a choice of their Pho noodles all for $9.95, talk about a steal! I got their beef and beef meatball pho and their classic Bahn Mi (I'm afraid I forgot the name of the meat haha). First off, I am a pho purist I don't put sauce in my pho, just the jalapeños, mung beans, basil and lime juice so I am judging based on that. The pho broth here was pretty good, definitely not the best I have ever had but pretty above average. It wasn't as meaty as I'd like and a bit sweet for my taste but I can see how some people would actually find that more appealing. The noodles were pretty standard and the beef and meatballs were definitely tasty I'd say above average. The Bahn Mi I got was pretty good, I'd like more veggies on it and less mayonnaise but I can be a bit too picky. The bread was nice and soft on the inside and flakey on the outside, definitely not too hard or crispy by any means, overall a perfect combo to dip into the pho broth and enjoy. The location is very new and immaculately clean for a pho place, if you've ever been to a legit bonafide Vietmanese pho place that's really authentic, you'll come to learn they're pretty damn sketchy and grimy looking. This place is not which was really nice! The bathrooms were clean, the space was clean. They could use a bit more decor but I am sure that will improve in time. A nice restaurant that you can even take a date on (that's tough to say for most other Pho Places). Overall this place was clean, service was very friendly, food was pretty good definitely above average (you don't get that very often for Pho in Delaware) and of course the price point was extremely appealing. The pho is pretty good here and I eat a lot of pho. We saw on the menu "fried periwinkle snail ham" so of course, our of curiosity, had to order it. It was snail wrapped into pieces of ham and chopped into thin slices. Never had it before. Was ok and good for the shock factor but wouldn't have again. I've gone here four times in the span of about three weeks, which speaks to the dearth of Vietnamese options in the area. Pho Cali, down the road has gone downhill, so I'm trying to find other options. I've had the bun (rice vermicelli noodles), pork chops, pho, and the banh mi-pho/bun combo. It's good, but I had mixed results with the grilled pork. The first time, the meat didn't seem very grilled. The second time was better. The pork chop flavor was good, but the cut of pork was a little fatty. Pho is very solid, and a good go-to choice. The highlight is their combo options. They do offer a banh mi (Vietnamese hoagie) and choice of bun or pho for $9.95. I've never seen this before at a Vietnamese restaurant (not that it might not exist). Since I'm always eyeing everyone else's food when I go to a Vietnamese restaurant, having a combo like this keeps me from scavenging off other people's plates! They do offer a bulgogi dish (Korean marinated ribeye). I'm Korean; I'm not sure I want to try it. read more

The value is pretty decent and the Bahn mi is amazing. However, as few other posters have said, you may not be full from it. I've had my share of snacking afterwards Iced coffee: 3.9/5 It isn't bad, it sometimes is strong in the chicory root flavor and a little on the bitter side. I would order again though Lotus salad: 4/5 This is something I've never had before. It's tangy and peanutty and fish saucy. There's a lot of different textures going on and very tasty. It's just more on the expensive side for what you're getting. Roast pork vermicelli bowl: 4.8/5 They do it pretty well. It's a good size and their flavors are on point. Very very tasty.
