No frills, quick and easy pho. I came here with friends and we were each able to get pho with protein of our liking (and we have picky some eaters in our group). You order and pay first at the register. The cashier let's you know when the food is ready, which you can pick up and bring back to your table. The food comes in a to-go container with toppings laid out on the lid as if it were a plate. It's very convenient if you have leftovers, since it's basically already packaged for you, but a little wasteful if you plan to sit down and eat. I got the seafood pho, which has fish balls, shrimp, and imitation crab. Taste was fine and the noodles were a nice texture. Shrimp and imitation crab didn't really have much taste but I liked the fish balls. Overall, it was a nice casual pho experience. The owner was easy to work with when placing the order and was flexible when I added to the order a few days before the event. The charcoal grilled chicken was perfectly seasoned, very tender and delicious. The charcoal really gave it that authentic smoky flavor and my family raved about it. They even threw in some free veggie spring rolls which were delicate and delicious. Everything was ready on time and everyone was very kind when my husband came to pick it up. It was great speaking with the owner Dien about his shop and the letter he wrote to Obama. The restaurant is decked out in modern vietnamese themed decorations and great lighting. The food of course is delicious. The noodles are the perfect comfort food that you can make just the way you want and their bubble tea is made with dairy free creamer and gluten-free tapioca pearls. In Delaware, a bowl of pho will cost you on the plus side of $9, which is a little on the high side compared to Philly, where pho is everywhere. You can order a bowl and customize it however you'd like or choose from a half dozen pre-set options. On the menu is bubble tea and some other Asian fare (not necessarily Vietnamese). I thought the broth was pretty good. My wife thought it was a little oily and salty. I like just tendon and tripe in my pho. The tendon was very thin (I like it thicker). All of the ingredients are set up in a fixings bar right by the counter, so they're putting the bowl together right in front of you (kind of like Chipotle). There are now three main pho options in the area. It's better and cleaner than Pho Cali, but I think vPho is a notch above Pho Ever. read more

Appreciative, we selected beef and chicken banh mi and sat down to wait for them to be prepped and ready. The shop was bright and cheerful and seemed like it would be a good place to eat in on a future occasion. The kitchen staff got busy and the floor guys continued to clean up. We saw the wrapped sandwiches exit from the back be bagged with all necessary accoutrements. Prices were fair, especially with the 10% Back to School discount. They even threw in an extra bottle of water for our ride home. Generous spirit. Turned out they also gave us a container of dumplings and dipping vinegar as an appetizer. Decent, although I didn't know dumplings were part of Vietnamese cuisine. The banh mi were also quite good. Stuffed with meat, cucumber, daikon, cilantro and mayo, they were alot to eat. Even the torpedo rolls were crusty, if not quite French baguette quality. Liked them all the way back to PA. This was my first time trying this place and I was greeted upon my entry. I decided to get the Beef Pho (P1) along with a medium honey tea. I was asked if this was my first time at this establishment and upon answering yes, I was gifted with a Large tea instead. Excellent customer service! The beef pho was amazing and I loved the broth. Each table is setup either sriracha sauce and hoisin sauce. They do have chili oil upon request. My only citric about the food was the amount of beef given for the pho. It was not as much protein as I have received at other places but that wasn't a huge issue as I was full by the end of my meal. The place is beautifully decorated with an assortment of colors that really make the inside POP. I 100% will be returning to this place to eat. read more

Not quite sure what to think of this place. Really can't say that I love it nor hate it. So just somewhere in between I guess. Now the gentleman behind the counter are extremely nice. The set up is quick like an assembly line. Pretty much you pick what you want and either have a seat in the small dining area or be on the go. Pho is a Vietnamese staple noodle soup which are typically simmered for hours and hours with the aromas of different spices. Pho Ever's broth is a bit too bland for me, and doesn't have the resemblance of authentic homeland taste. I also had the pork-chop rice platter and it was quite decent. You can call me a bit bias because I grew up eating authentic Vietnamese food. While Pho Ever was tasty, it didn't quite live up to the Viet eats I grew up devouring. - Tortilla wrapped "banh mi" - interesting take on this Vietnamese classic. The best part of a banh mi IS the banh mi (aka the bread), but I appreciate the innovative thought here. My mom and I decided to give this a try bc we've never seen this anywhere. The consensus? It's good! Flavorful, stuffed, and served with a great peanut/hoisin dipping sauce. - Grilled pork with white rice, pickled veggies, runny egg, and spring rolls: I loved this. The flavors here were on point and the egg added creaminess to the rice. Pork was grilled to perfection, and fish sauce was legit. - Pho: This is where Pho Ever Cafe fell short for us..the broth was so bland and tasteless! My mom added a ton of hoisin sauce to it but it was still lacking that pho aroma we oh so love. Again, we're critics when it comes to Pho so we prob won't have it here again. All in all, I think this is a great establishment to have on Mainstreet. With the 5 Mexican restaurant options, it's about time a Vietnamese place opened up (besides Banh Mi Boy) on this street. It was my first time visit the restaurant. It is very clear and nice. I ordered 3 bowls of pho. While waiting for the food, I noticed a post saying due to inflation of supply, they have to increase price, which I found interesting. We all know about that, just a bit too obvious. As of the pho, I am pretty disappointed. The pho cost about $12-14, but the size of it is more like a kid size. I said that because my 5 year-old finished his (just enough). As of the taste, I think it's just so-so. There are lots of pho restaurants at Newark. If you live in the UD area and don't have a car, this place probably is the only pho option within a walking distance. Otherwise, I would go somewhere else. read more

Second time visit. Worse experience than first time. First time every thing was alright, average standard but fresh material. I would give a 3.5 stars - 4 stars just based on that visit. But for this time, the broth is SOOOOOOOOOO greasy. I had fried chicken lighter than this. I always enjoyed broth from pho and this is the first time I feel disgusted. I tried to remove the grease but it could never be done. That plate shown in the picture is what I removed from my bowl while the soup in the second picture is still oily. Staff said he can make us another one but I really don't want it since what I had made me lost all my appetite. Appreciate it though. To be fair the broth was more flavourful than first visit and that's a generous portion of beef in their pho, it's just the unwanted grease and was way too much. First experience here wasn't great. I ordered standard Pho Tai. The flavor was good, but there was hardly any broth (pho is all about the broth!) and instead of multiple pieces of meat there was one giant slab of it. Looking at the pictures on here it looks like this isn't typical so maybe they were having an off night. I may give this location another try in the future due to how close it is to me, but will most likely drive farther away to get better quality Pho. read more

Grilled Chicken- 3.6/5 a great salad customized to eliminate noodle and rice carbs. My wife was watching her weight, so she asked for more salad veggies, salad, sprouts, carrot, cilantro and slight amount of sliced green onion. Lightly dip the chicken in the peanut/hoisin sauce (order as a side- no charge) and you are on your way to a great healthy salad meal. The clear fish sauce with carrot slivers is typical Vietnamese and requires an acquired taste to go all-in for application as a dressing. The fish sauce can not be sampled by spoon tasting, it needs to be a subtle addition, so Americans beware. The chicken marinade grilling sauce is the same as what is used on the sizzling beef, overall, good. Sizzling Beef Banh Mi - 3.5/5. Vietnamese style grilled steak on thin French baguette with light cilantro, lettuce, pickle radish and carrot and cucumber. Skip the wrap option, Banh Mi is all about the French style bread and lightly picked veggies and an enjoyable moist flavor. Thin sliced beef with a marinade applied while grilling. Surprisingly, thin bread (great for carb cheaters) was cooked perfectly , cored baguette with light crust. Sliced thin beef steak style is dry until you bite into moist flavorful veggies surrounding the meat. I ordered a side of peanut/hoisin style sauce (very good) to add just drops on each bite, yummy! Vietnamese French Pressed Iced coffee- 4/5 A robust coffee softened with sweet condensed milk on ice. A standard at any Vietnamese restaurant. Love this . Watch out as you puncture the popular bubble tea type containers!The plastic wrap touches the drink and a poor puncture that rips open the wrong way will shower you (see coffee photo). Recommendation for eat-in: please prepuncture or use a standard lid. I have had better at a popular Vietnamese sub shop (that serves fresh baked on-site bread) in California, but still very good. read more
