Found originally in Portland Oregon in 2003, Voodoo Doughnut (with their iconic Pink color) was one of the first gourmet doughnut shops on the West Coast, selling large, unusually flavored pastries to the masses. There are now 26 locations across the country, 2 of them in the Seattle area (one in downtown, and this one in Bellevue). I stopped in to pick up some doughnuts for the family as I was walking back from the light rail station, and found that they were quite good. There is a closed display case with the various options shown. The cashier was friendly and explained the special flavors that they had. They are open till 11pm, meaning they make their donuts throughout the day and the four that I got (3 yeast glazed [$2] and 1 soccer themed specialty [$5.50]) were big enough to share. I think the price reflects more of the time and effort to make/decorate a donut, then the ingredients itself. Two bucks for a glazed raised donut this good is a steal, especially in this area. There is space inside to sit and dine-in, along with a few beverage options. It wasn't busy when I stopped in at 4:45pm, so my order was packaged quickly and I was off. We all shared when I got home, and everyone agreed they were really great donuts: large, not too greasy, with a good ratio of filling to pastry. I ordered online for pickup, and my doughnut was ready and packed for me behind the counter when I arrived. Pickup was quick and easy, and there are also a few tables and chairs inside the garishly pink shop. I got the Dirt doughnut, a raised doughnut with vanilla frosting, topped with crushed oreos. Voodoo Doughnut shop in Bellevue is so cute! Pink just makes the shop stand out so much, especially in the evening. I can't believe they're open 24hrs though. I love donuts. I mean read my tagline..... But Voodoo just doesn't do it for me. Maybe 20 years ago, I visited the Portland location of tremendous hype and came away underwhelmed. It didn't meet the hype for taste. I waited 2 decades hoping it would be different, and while it is better now, it still isn't for ME. I come away with it just being too starchy or rubbery, too chewy. Just not the way I like MY donuts. I prefer my donuts more "Airy," more "Briochey," again, less chewy and starchy. What Voodoo DOES WELL, is decor, design, imagination. Colorful, themes, and creativity. I appreciate that. This location is nice and has good parking in the back. Voodoo is great for like parties, company events where people can celebrate over cool looking donuts coming in nice pink boxes. But for personal love and delightful donuts, its just not my jam. read more

We stopped into Voodoo donuts for a pumpkin donut as part of a promotion. The donut was pumpkin shaped, so super cute, and it and tasted great. Voodoo's staff are super nice and were also very cheery. It's so great to have Voodoo now in Bellevue. I ordered some drip coffee to go with the donut, and have to say that next time I'll skip the coffee. I drink decaf, gasp, so maybe it's just their decaf coffee but it was undrinkable. Finally made it to Voodoo Doughnut recently, I have been wanting to try them for the longest time. I got the Chocolate cake, Raised Glazed, Mango Tango, Bacon Maple Bar, and Chocolate Ring. I loved the Raised Glazed and Chocolate Ring. I didn't like the Chocolate cake doughnut a lot, I learned I preferred the yeasted doughnuts as compared to the cake doughnuts. I must say, the pink box and the flavor of the donuts--especially the apple fritter--remind me so much of my staple from 20+ years ago (a dozen-box that fed a poor student like me for days): YumYum Donuts. Of course, the price now is four times higher, but the taste really brought back memories. Coincidentally, they opened around last Halloween, so I keep thinking of Voodoo Donuts as Halloween treats. I stopped by Voodoo over the weekend as they were offering a promotional free pumpkin buttermilk doughnut. It's hard to miss their building along Main Street, being bright pink both outside and in. It's great they have a dedicated parking lot, but spaces are tight so be forewarned if you're coming in a pick up truck or large SUV. Inside, the kitchen is buzzing with young doughnut artists busily creating edible masterpieces. They have three ordering stations from a single line, so pay attention when one becomes available. Service was super friendly and quick. My doughnut was flavorful and pumpkin shaped. I'll definitely come back to try others, but have to plan ahead for when I'm super hungry for sweet treats. read more

Only 1 employee working the cashier other where making tonight's I have been waiting for a bit a gentleman comes in and cuts in front as I'm look and the girl there knew I was already in line and proceeds to help the gentleman before me.. I honestly should've walked out and wanted to but I ONLY stayed for the Strawberry gotart since it was DELICIOUS last time with the filled jam. I get home from my 1.5hr to find there was NO filling. Very disappointed they were only good when they first opened after the hype quality is bad. How do you forget a filling? I came here today to try this out. I have seen her back at home in Arizona. We have a couple of voodoo donuts throughout Arizona and I'm very happy that we have them in Washington now, but I came here today and I've never realized are so big. It was a good price for two dollars for a glazed donut. I am not a big sweet person. My favorite donut is a glazed doughnut though, but I was greeted right away. I've been to the OG in PDX and it didn't wow me but thought I'd give it another try now that they're close by! Love the bright pink signature building that matches their boxes and appreciate the parking in the back as well! No real seating so definitely a grab and go spot -- the donuts are displayed in a moving circular display so it can be hard to remember which ones you were wanting. Ordering is a bit slow because it's hard for people to choose. The donuts unfortunately just aren't wow for me again. Our doughnuts were really good. Very fresh tasting. We liked the unique ones, like the voodoo doll. There was a line when we got there but it went fast because there were 4 registers open. That was nice. The person that helped us was really nice and also funny. It's cute inside. Almost everything is pink. It's a fun restaurant. There is a parking lot behind the building. I came here on June 12th at 6am to start my morning with doughnuts for me and my girlfriend the darker women out of the two was extremely rude to begin with. I walked in and simply asked her if there was a bathroom she replied yes if you are buying something which is totally understandable. The tone she gave off was just extremely rude to us and as a women you should somewhat understand when a women has to go she has to go... when we get to the front of the line she asks us if we need anything as if we didn't just ask for the bathroom code a minute prior. I asked her several times if she was okay and why she had that type of energy at 6am. I've been to Voodoo at the original location in Portland for years along with the location in California I've never experienced this bad of service at any other location. Friendly staff but knocking off a few stars because they forgot a donut-that we paid for. Boxes were sealed (and filled on the back counter) so we didn't check the accuracy in store. Only way to reach out is to call them. We drove up from Renton for my son's birthday-not far but far to get donuts when there are local choices (like Chucks!). Confirmed with them we ordered 8. Got home and there were only 7 in the box(es-they had to fit the order in 2 boxes). And the one that was forgotten was one my son ordered for himself! The donuts are expensive but they are big. We got there a little before 8am on a Sunday. Nobody in the store but 2 groups came while we were still there. Only pre-chosen dozens available, otherwise you pay by the donut.
