While I was waiting at the register for her to ring me up, the least she could have done was acknowledge me and say she'd be right with me, but instead she kept talking with her coworkers. Once she finally started ringing me up, she began grabbing the hand basket on the conveyor belt and mumbling to herself, seeming upset. I mentioned that everything I had was already rung up and that the basket wasn't mine. She then started shouting at me, saying she knew that. Then, when it came time for payment, she began shouting at me again because apparently I was "taking too long," even though the screen was prompting me to wait for the cashier. She kept yelling that she was waiting on me and telling me to "go." When I called the store to complain, the floor manager said she would pass the message along and that the store manager would reach out. Well, here we are four days later and still no call from the store manager. I have only visited this store a handful of times, and every experience has involved awful customer service. I will never shop here again. That was the last straw. If employees don't want to assist customers, then please consider adding self-checkout stations.

I have shopped at this Ralphs every week for my family's groceries, but unfortunately, after my…read moreexperience last week, I no longer feel comfortable shopping at this location. For context, I was shopping with my two young children, ages 4 and 2, and I am also six months pregnant. While shopping, I encountered an employee operating a dust mop in several aisles. Rather than moving to the side when customers were trying to pass, customers with carts were expected to maneuver around the dust mop. This was a relatively minor issue, but it stood out to me as a lack of consideration for customers. The experience at checkout, however, was extremely disappointing. At the time, only one checkout lane was open. I waited approximately 10 minutes with a full cart while also trying to manage my two young children, who were becoming increasingly upset. When I finally reached the conveyor belt, I began unloading my groceries. I had already unloaded approximately half of my cart when another lane opened next to us. At that point, the cashier looked at me and said, "Sorry, this lane is closed," and placed a closed sign directly on the conveyor belt in front of the groceries I had already unloaded. I asked if she was serious because I was genuinely surprised that I was being asked to remove groceries I had already placed on the belt after waiting in line. Nevertheless, I had to put all of those groceries back into my cart while managing my two upset children. What made the situation particularly upsetting was that several employees stood nearby watching me struggle to reload the cart without offering to help or offering to move me directly to the newly opened register. Aaron, whom I believe may be a manager, was among the employees present. By the time I finished putting everything back into my cart, the line for the other register had filled again. I then had to go to the back of that line and wait approximately another 10 minutes. I will acknowledge that by that point I was visibly frustrated. However, while I was waiting and checking out, I could hear Aaron and other employees making comments to one another under their breath that appeared to be directed toward me. I felt embarrassed, judged, and incredibly unwelcome. What is especially disappointing is that there are several employees at this Ralphs whom I genuinely enjoy seeing because they have always been kind and friendly. Until this incident, this was the store where I routinely purchased my family's weekly groceries. I understand that registers need to close and employees have breaks, shift changes, and other responsibilities. My concern is not simply that the register closed... it is how the situation was handled. Once a customer who is six months pregnant and accompanied by two small children has waited in line for a good chunk of time and already unloaded half of a full grocery cart, I would expect basic courtesy and customer service. At the very least, someone could have helped me move my groceries or at least shown some compassion or understanding. I hope management reviews this incident with the employees involved. No customer should leave a grocery store feeling humiliated or unwelcome because they expected to finish checking out in the line they had already waited in. Unfortunately, after this experience, I have decided to take my family's weekly grocery shopping elsewhere.
