Interesting, this Vons has parking spaces closer to the entrance for both handicapped and expecting mothers! I've never seen parking spaces for pregnant women, and this is the first time at this location. The Vons here is not as well stocked compared to the other ones. Less selection of fruits and vegetables, good amount of meat though, but less seafood, and in general they stock less groceries then their counter parts. They do have sales as I bought water, and ice cream. For example, the water was $3.50-$4.00 a case depending on which water company supplying it, and their ice cream popsicles along with ice cream drumsticks was $3.00 per box which is a little cheaper. Other things I'm not too sure about since I don't do a lot of grocery shopping. Yes, I tend to eat out too.much... so I don't really go to markets to shop. The employees here are very friendly, as the check outs are quite fast. Very cozy-like setting as it feels close net with the community. read more

My go to for groceries in bello because it's super convenient. They're not always the best at making sure enough people are manning the registers, but the staff are super nice! This place was remodeled a while ago and is generally clean and well organized. The bakery and deli sections are ok, about what you'd expect for a store this size. My husband purchased ground beef 80/20 from the butcher .He was going to make smash burgers.Well what a disappointment!!!He started preparing the ground beef patties and we noticed that the meat was all pink on the outside and the inside was brown.Disgusting!!! I've hesitated in writing this review for quite some time. I have lived in Montebello for several years now and truthfully continue to come to this grocery store out of pure convenience since it is within walking distance to my home. However, it sucks!! Prices are expensive, produce is sometimes not in stock (and always overpriced) which I always knew having a Vons close to me where I previously lived. But again, I sometimes come here literally out of convenience or in a rush after work to pick up last minute items or things that I know some local Hispanic markets don't always carry. Seriously, the lines, are alllllllwayyyys long. If I buy 1 item, I can expect the express line to keep me waiting over 15 minutes. Today, on a Friday was no different. I mean, the store is always busy but there has been a shortage of cashiers and baggers for years now. And speaking of the cashier's, it seems they are miserable since they are always in a bad mood. I guess I can't blame them. The only reason I gave them 2 stars was the fact that it is close to my home, other than that, I hope corporate one day realizes either the store needs to close or invest in their stores. Vons needs help, period!!! There's a reason why I now spend my weekends driving to La Habra to shop at Northgate market. Excellent service, excellent prices, and an over abundance of cashier's and baggers. I am in never in line long! read more

As far as grocery stores go Von's is pretty average. The bakery department is miniscule & not much is baked on site. You had better order your cake early, so it can be baked and decorated and delivered to the store. And there's no one there to write anything on a premade cake. The meat department is small and limited, you can usually get some assistance at the counter. However there are times it's being given begrudgingly. The deli department is also small and fresh made sandwiches are not offered at this store. The hot items like fried chicken; tenders; roasted chickens, etc. are fresh and tasty. There is a huge well run & well stocked produce department! The staff will check in the back if what you need isn't out on the floor yet, and always with a smile. Their floral department is well stocked with fresh blooms and well maintained plants, blooming or just green. And there is always someone there to fill your balloon needs. My personal pet peeve is that they only offer ONE ECVShoppingCart for customers with mobility issues. If this is a major concern for your needs, I recommend calling ahead to see if it is available if you're arrival is less than 10 minutes away. They won't hold it for you, 1st come-1st served, but at least you'll know before you get there and make alternate plans. For all of this store's shortcomings (for which I would give it a negative 1 Star, it's incredibly friendly and helpful staff bring the rating out of the basement. For them alone I would be tempted to give a 5 Star rating. read more

I've been shopping with Vons many years and satisfied, until I met the cashier, Adriana. It's been twice today, she kept the coin change. First, it was 0.81 cents; after that my change supposed to be $15.16, she only give me $15, and didn't give the change again, until I realized my receipt at home. I do like shopping at Vons for the products, however, if I am going to overpay for groceries, they should at least provide a quick check out line or at least a self check out. In addition, the customer service is very mediocre. At my last visit, I seen two ladies chatting at an empty check stand. I approached the line unsure if she was open; she glanced at me athen turned away. I just want to say, Adriana, who is one of the cashiers, went out of her way to help save me money and also find the item I wanted without having to step out of line. On our way to Knott's we checked what's allowed in the park and what's not. Oddly, you aren't supposed to take your own food inside, but drinks are okay. So we stopped at this Vons and I decided a sandwich from the deli would hide nicely in the bottom of my purse. I'm a small purse girl, not a gigantic purse like I so commonly see. Which I regretted this weekend. I would've had snacks of all types! But the sandwich was pretty good, even for a grazer like myself. So since my husband lives near Vons stores (we have their sister stores, Safeway, in my area) he knew of a policy that if your deli sandwich ("made your way") isn't ready within three (yes, 3) minutes, it's FREE! What, what, what??!! So as I approached the counter, I asked a couple questions, then, as I placed my order, my husband started the stopwatch feature on his phone. This lady was going sllllow. Not totally her fault. The worker before her must have not been super helpful. The stocked cucumbers needed to be replaced with ones that didn't look like they'd sat out a week, there was no cut salame. (I ordered a veggie sand. with salame). She asked a couple times what all I wanted on it so I made it super clear: everything! I love veggies. When she was finished (5:42 was her time) my husband asked about the free sandwich policy and she told him just to tell the checker it's free. Perhaps she could've asked which line we were headed to (they were all pretty short) and phoned over herself? The checker we picked had no idea about this policy and repeated this fact to us over and over again. REally? We do that? Yes. In under five minutes or it's free? NO, three minutes. Really? Yes. And then she called over to verify. In any case, whether or not the checkers are aware of deli policies is irrelevant. What matters is that the sandwich was pretty good. Wasn't the best sourdough I'd ever had but it was a couple hours till I ate it, to be fair. I wish Safeway had the three minute policy. I haven't lived here for long, and this Von's is my new closest grocery store. I am really impressed by the staff here, they seem like a genuinely kind & good crew. Previously, I had been behind a woman in line when a worker saw her & produced lollipops this woman loved. She had put them aside for her, which is so sweet! Yesterday, I was behind an elderly lady who required a bit of extra time & the women employees couldn't have handled it better. They treated her with the upmost respect, dignity, and patience. I say this because I've witnessed the opposite-cashiers getting impatient and short when there's a customer who requires additional time during a growing line. Cashiers... omg... take their sweet time... and if you don't have your discount card... or number wont go through...as mine didnt because i had updated and you need to wait like 2 months to update... they will not give you the discount unless you fill out another card.... or have you go back to get an adjustment when your information has updated... they can have 6 people waiting and still wont open another register... it is irritating when you only have one or two items and are in a hurry... Assistant manager Adela was very rude and condescending, resulting in holding up the check-out line. There was a misunderstanding with a promotion, when she was called over she refused to hear what we had a question on, rolled her eyes and rudely said they everything in our cart needed to be rescanned, and when asked a question nicely out of slight confusion, she yelled no and proceeded to push us away. For an assistant manager and simply being a considerate person, this lack of professionalism and plain aggression was uncalled for to a customer. We approached the situation in a confused but respectful manner, however the assistant manager aggravated and aggressive for a misunderstanding, did not make the situation easier for the cashier, us, and the other customers waiting in line. read more

If you want to be racially profiled, then this is the place. I literally went to the deli to get chicken.. everything was ok until another worker ran to me.. tried to take bag of chicken i ordered. She said that they'll hold it at self checkout, when im ready for self checkout it'll be there. I said that's never happened before, that I'll be shopping around and buy alcohol too which cant be purchased at self-checkout. She said that they are treating deli purchases as liquor and will hold it until you are ready to pay. Huh thats weird. Other ppl that got/ordered food from the deli were able to take with them. I enjoy shopping here but sometimes it's a hit or miss when it comes to their inventory. I can't go too late and not too early. The area where they serve meals and stuff could do a lot better I tried to order myself a sub and just because I could not make up my mind on the bread the lady who was attending me stopped and went to help someone else. Always an excuse. Manager doesnt do anything. When there are long lines they only have 1 register open and people are waiting for a long time. Mismanaged and Vons management doesn't do anything. Worst experience ever.. now I remember why I hated coming here.. rush hour time and lines are really long. The cashiers are super slow. I understand they're being polite and trying to give good customer service but the reality of it is most of the people are trying to get home to cook.. Overall it's an okay store. The meat section is always awful and produce is okay. I am a dietitian and I know quality products and usually they do not have the best Here. A big complaint I have is their attempt to save energy by turning out 80% of the lights. I'm sorry please think about this stragically because if this many lights are off... theft goes up and hazard of falling or tripping/slipping is a huge liability. My biggest issue with the lack of lights is that I couldn't see anything, couldn't see if if the fruit was bruused or into the freezer doors or an ything. I am under 30 years of age and If I cannot see I'm positive anyone over age 60 could have trouble seeing. I gave up trying to shop out of frustration. Let the clerk know but they didn't care.
