This is the Ralph's situated on Atlantic Blvd next to a Bank of America. There is plenty of parking. I think prices here are on the high side. I like to wait for sales. I will get produce and meat here when I am in the area. There is a 99 Ranch market down the street at the corner of Garvey and Atlantic, so I would rather go there. They have a good selection of flowers and balloons. The over-the-counter medication aisle is blocked sometimes. The self check out takes Apple Pay, so that is convenient. Pro tip: the taco truck on the street is pretty good but cash only

Once again this Ralphs has one of the best hospitality services ever from everyone here including Janae, Linda, and Regina!! Thank you guys so much for helping me with picking my flowers. :)

This is not a service dog. He was scratching and spreading hair all around the hot food. Please leave your dogs home. This is unsanitary

The handle breaks. I've got flour everywhere.

i've been coming to this Ralph store so long. I can't remember when I started coming here.. But I am so ticked off at corporation for Pro providing the bags they provide now I know it was mandated. They had to do what they had to do, but the quality is ridiculous. I have dropped my groceries more times that I cared to account.. I got a large bag of flour. That's all that was in there except two things of butter and this is what happened when I walked into my kitchen. Ralph revisit other options.

Narrow, no room to move with a cart.

What's going on with the layout in a lot of these supermarkets? The aisles are extremely narrow, but to make matters worse there is stock (English muffins & late night doritos) crammed in the middle of almost every one making using a cart a nightmare. One lane each way and forget it if there's already ppl in the aisle. You can't even leisurely browse b/c someone is always up your ahhz. Maneuvering the store layout is like playing a game of Tetris and game over.

    Here again.

Review is for their app ordering feature and meat department only…read more It's the first time I've used the app to order in advance for pickup but was disappointed. I ordered a rib roast for pickup and was charged for a 21.75 lb roast. When the employee brought it to my car, the vacuum seal on the package was loose and the meat looked brownish-green. I asked if it looked safe, and even he said it looked strange. He helped me put it into a cart and suggested I take it to the meat department for an exchange. When I got there, the meat department first questioned how long I'd had it for the seal to be "loose," then tried convincing me that it was normal and that the packaging never comes fully vacuum sealed. I told them I simply wanted an exchange. The employee seemed irritated but eventually brought out another roast. Then he peeled the sticker off the original roast and placed it onto the new one. I asked whether it was the same weight because the replacement was clearly much smaller. He insisted it was "the exact same thing" since it had the same sticker on it, and told me that if I didn't like it, I could come back tomorrow because customer service was not open today. Got home and the scale reads 19.5lbs (2.25lb over charged). Disappointed in the experience.

Been a year since my last update so thought I'd update my review!…read more They're open daily from 11am-7pm Love that they are expanding and the business next to them is going to turn into a place for dine in experience! How exciting! Parking can be difficult since it is pretty small and this spot is always busy regardless of the time and day! NOTE: You can only enter thru the back door by the parking lot because the front door is usually locked. Inside has such much variety of sushi, Japanese merchandise and groceries, as well as a fish market located all the way in the back. The fridges are packed with lots of variety of sushi and bowls. Love how you can choose any fish from the glass window and the staff will ask whether you want it sliced or not. The line is always long so be prepared to wait but it moves quite fast. Pricing is so reasonable and most of the sushi are $9+. Such a steal! Staff was friendly and welcoming. I used my SGV Food Passport and redeemed a free salmon avocado roll (or California Roll). What a deal! It came with 12 mini rolls packed with salmon and avocado. The salmon was so fresh and delicious! This is one of my favorite rolls there so glad I got it free! I also got the Unagi Sushi. It consisted of 12 mini eel rolls. It was stuffed with eel and packed with flavor. It tasted so yummy and fresh. Definitely one of my favorites! Last but not least, got the Nigiri! It consisted of tuna, salmon, and yellowtail. This was my absolute favorite! It was so buttery and fresh. It literally melted in my mouth but how soft it was. The portion of fish was so generous and so good! Absolute must get! Overall, I really enjoyed my experience and my food so I'll definitely recommend and return.

I've been coming to Yama Seafood for over 25 years, going all the way back to my high school days…read moresince it was nearby. My mom and late dad knew the previous owner, Yamada-san, before I was born. I've introduced many of my friends to Yama Seafood over the years, and my friends and I would often come here after school to get sushi. Walking in here still brings back a lot of memories--especially from the days when you could enter directly from the street. In my opinion, Yama Seafood has some of the freshest fish and best selections in the area. There have been many times when I've purchased regular bluefin here and had friends think it was actually bluefin chu-toro because the quality was that good. My usual fish purchases are bluefin chu-toro, regular bluefin, salmon, Hokkaido scallops, and yellowtail. I also almost always grab a pack of California rolls, tamagoyaki, and ikura (salmon roe) to go with the fish. For the quality and selection of the fish, I would easily give Yama Seafood 5 stars. However, I'm not nearly as fond of the new ownership and management. I really preferred the feeling and customer service of the old Yama Seafood. Someone else in the reviews mentioned feeling the same way, and I completely understand where they're coming from. The old way was more personal. Yes, sometimes orders took a while because Yama-san himself was cutting and preparing the orders, but you knew who you were dealing with. If I had a question, I could ask Yama directly. If he wasn't available, I could ask the store manager, and they could get an answer from Yama. There was a direct connection between the customer and the person making the decisions. Now, unfortunately, it feels like Yama Seafood is being run like a corporation--100000%. The business expanded very quickly after the purchase, and it has become much more difficult to communicate with the actual decision-maker or owner. I was given the email addresses of the "boss" by the manager, and I've sent multiple emails but have never received a response. That's probably my biggest disappointment with the new management. Regardless of how a company is structured or who owns it, I think basic customer communication is important. When a longtime customer takes the time to reach out with a question or concern, especially after being directed to contact the person in charge, a simple response would go a long way. Maybe the new ownership simply has a different philosophy about customer service, or perhaps the business structure has changed significantly. Whatever the reason, the personal feeling that Yama Seafood used to have is unfortunately missing. That said, the fish quality and selection are still excellent, and that's the main reason I'm giving Yama Seafood 4 stars. I've been coming here for more than 25 years, and I genuinely want to see the business continue to do well. If the new management could improve its customer service--especially something as simple as responding to emails from longtime customers--I would have no hesitation giving this place 5 stars. The product is already there. It's the customer service and communication that need some work. And honestly, I don't care if the owners respond to this review just to "show face" on Yelp. I'm not looking for a public response or an apology. Just reply to the emails from your customers. Simple as that.
