I've had frequent issues with spoiled food when purchasing meat at this location. While I understand these are tough times, it didn't deter me from continuing to shop here because it's in a convenient location. I'm fairly easy going. However, that all changed when I tried to pickup my prescription at the pharmacy today. My doctor sent in the prescription at approximately 11:30am. I've used this pharmacy before and typically give them a few hours to fill it only to arrive at pick up and have them tell me it's not ready and I have to come back. This happens every time. So today I gave them until 5pm. When I arrived, the clerk informed me that there wasn't anything sent. While calling my doctor to straighten it out, she told me she found it and there were prescriptions ahead of me. Obviously, she just realized it needed to be filled. She said it would take an hour and before I could respond left the register. Due to previous negative experiences, I decided to tell them not to fill it and I would be taking my business elsewhere. This is where they completely overreacted and threatened to call security to have me removed from the store. Honestly, laughable at best. In short, the pharmacy employees are inconsiderate and massively overreact to any conflict as well as never have your prescription ready unless you physically show up and wait an hour. I love Vons. Clean, stocked, nice employees, EXCEPT one... ( the one everyone is talking about) Mariella. She is horrible, harassing, and just mean. If I walk in and see her, I leave. I go shop elsewhere. She was absolute nasty to me 2 years ago, for no reason. I'm a nice person and work for a local grocery store. So I do understand , but also because I do work for one I know that most people that shop and spend their money in our store are typically very nice . In 2 years of working in grocery , most people are very pleasant. Mariella is a very nasty person. She's at work! Can't she fake being courteous ? Apparently no. So once again , I am in a rush had no choice to run into my local Vons! When it was my turn at the self check, I put my merchandise on the counter and begun scanning my items! When I scanned an item that I thought was on special I realized it did not do the discount! So I kindly asked the lady CINDY for help! She was so rude abrasive moved me out of the way so she could punch in some numbers while saying to me " YOU NEED TO DOWNLOAD THE COUPON OR YOU DO NOT GET THE DISCOUNT!" Every now and again I make my way to Von's for groceries. Of course it's because something I need is on sale. They have a huge parking lot that is easy to navigate in and out. The store is kept very clean with eye appealing displays. I'm happy that when they put something on sale, it's been in stock for me. What has been disappointing is the customer service. The employees aren't very friendly. I think my cashier said about two words. No smile. In my opinion, it's the little things that make a difference. Compared to my normal grocery store, Vons fails. Well, it's a Vons. They are owned by Safeway and are exactly like the locations I frequent in the Pacific Northwest. I stopped here to grab a coffee at the Starbucks and use the restroom, and it served its purpose well. Also, there is a room with slot machines, which was very amusing to a tourist like me. I've been a regular at this Vons since 2004. Overall, it's a clean and low-stress shopping experience. There are, though, a number of pros and cons for this particular location: Pros Cleanliness. It's always clean and organized. Produce is always fresh. Staff. I know a few staff members by name, and vice versa. Sale Prices. They have some pretty good deals, especially when using the Vons club card. If you only buy things on sale, you will do well. Small crowds. It doesn't get crazy here like at Smith's or Walmart (maybe because of the prices?). Cons Regular prices. If I only need a few things, I'll usually go here - but their regular prices are much higher than can be found at Smith's or Walmart nearby. For a major shopping excursion, I usually skip Vons. Understaffed. About 50% of the times I've gone here, I've thought that it seemed like there was one less cashier than required. When it's very late, it gets worse. It's not uncommon to see a single cashier in the express lane, and a long line of people impatiently waiting. If I only need a few things, or if I'm not in a hurry, this is my go-to place. For low prices or quick service, this Vons is - unfortunately - hit or miss. read more

If there were an option to give NO STARS that would sum up my experience. Pharmacist was very rude. I called in advance to be sure my prescription would be ready, but when I arrived it was not. Apparently there was a misunderstanding with the tech I spoke with. I was told it was put back. No apology, just told to come back "no sooner than one hour", because it would need to be reprocessed. SHE WAS LITERALLY HOLDING MY ORDER IN HER HAND! When I asked why she couldn't just take care of it right then since it was their fault, she got defensive and said it wasn't HER fault, it was her coworker. (Like I care! Take some responsibility and do the right thing.) She said she had other customers ahead of me. Not one person was at that counter but me. WORST DELIVERY SERVICE EVER! I had an order scheduled for 3-4pm at 4:20 I called customer service they said they couldn't locate the van which had my food. They said they would call me back within an hour to let me know what the situation was. At 5:30 I called them back they said they would have to call each van on the delivery routes to find out where my food was and that they would call me back. 20 minutes later the customer service rep calls me back and says that she's left voicemails with all the drivers except for one driver who they couldn't contact. So I asked when my order would be delivered... She's said she couldn't tell, that there was a possibility that it still could be delivered, but would I rather reschedule for tomorrow?? NO! I cancelled my order. I ended up taking an Uber into town and shipped at Wal-Mart where I got twice amount of items for the same price, took another Uber home cooked dinner and went to bed. Then at 10pm I received a phone call from the delivery driver who apparently was outside my house! Customer Service never even contacted him! SEVEN HOURS LATE! That's shockingly bad! OK unfortunately for us this is the Von's close to our house so we frequently hit it when were in a hurry. I gotta say the older lady manager is loud and rude, their chicken isn't consistent and fresh, every time I get produce their it is slim pickings for fresh non moldy fruit and veggies and tonight there was hair cooked INTO the chicken! This is a great Vons. Although there is an Albertson's much closer to my house, if I find myself in the area, I stop in Von's to pick up groceries. They do tend to be more expensive than other stores, but you can find pretty awesome deals quite often. The store is clean and well kept. It does have more of an upscale feel to it. All of the staff members I've encountered are always friendly and helpful. One thing I would suggest: check your receipt before leaving the register. The last few times we've been there, they have charged us full price for items that were on sale (ex: bagels and soda). They were quick to fix the error, and it's not technically the cashier's fault, but it's disappointing and makes you feel like they are trying to get a few extra dollars out of you. read more

This is my neighborhood supermarket and I really like it! Very clean location that has a bit more of an "upscale" feel to it compared to the Albertson's that is slightly farther away. I like that there's a Starbucks inside because there isn't another in the area. The baggers always ask if we need assistance to the car and the cashiers are always very helpful and friendly (we usually have an issue with our shopper's card linking up to the "just for u" phone app - an app that offers weekly discounts on top of whatever sales the store has going. The issue seemed to be caused by the fact that the card is linked to a different phone number from signing up with a sister supermarket back east. We were told to call the customer service number and they still have not been able to get the issue resolved. Anyway, the cashiers always wind up manually entering the discounts and they never appear to be put out or annoyed by this). My only complaint is that there is NEVER anyone manning the customer service desk. I've had to go to it a few times (once to sign up for a new card, once to exchange a cheese that my husband accidentally bought, lol) and there's never anyone to be found. I usually have to wait until someone notices me or go to a cashier and ask if there's anyone available to help me. Otherwise a good neighborhood supermarket that I would recommend. read more

I ordered a pound and a half of Atlantic salmon which was on sale for $6.99LB. When he handed me the package it was $7.99lb. When I questioned it the clerk said since I didn't take the whole salmon they tack on $1! Excuse me, where is that posted. He said there's no posting it's "policy". I said the whole slab is over 25 lbs. I went to the manager and they refunded $1and change. Be careful, many items like milk, butter are very close to expiration dates. The Just4U program is a little annoying (but this is a corporate issue, not a store issue). I just don't like that they track what you buy and make you think you are getting a better deal. Whatever. They should just lower their prices for everyone and not make you go online, get a card, etc, etc ,etc... MELODY is our favorite cashier and I'm certain that her awesomeness keeps us coming back over and over. She always remembers my name, my kids names. She is not on autopilot - she is "present" and listens as she talks to you. And she is FAST! The bakery is great - we've had a few cakes from there and everything tastes great. The staff is on top of their game. The deli staff is always on alerting us to current specials and $5 Friday is pretty cool. The meat department is also very helpful and friendly. I've always been quite fond of Vons! The prices are a bit above average grocery stores. But as they say in the world, "You get what you pay for". The produce is always fresh and looks great. The seafood as well as the deli, which is my favorite thing to purchase. Getting FRESH CAUGHT fish, jumbo shrimp and crab by the pound makes my tummy smile. The employees are quick to help unlike most places that make it seem as if you're bothering them by asking what isle somethings on. Customer service has always been a big thing for me and they've done a good job at that. Bank inside, ATM machine. This store is usually clean. My three complaints are as follows: 1. The produce often has little bugs flying around. 2. When a customer donates money to whatever cause they are advocating, the cashier yells over the intercom about the donation, but I can never understand what the mumbling is saying. 3. Peggy is not the best at customer service. Each time I'm in her line she looks everywhere except at me or my transaction. She looks at her clipboard or what the other employees are doing. She asks me over and over and over if I want to donate or if I want help out to my vehicle. She does this because she is on autopilot and isn't paying attention that she has already asked me multiple times, and I have answered the question multiple times. One of my favorite stores in any city I've lived in. It's clean, well stocked, and the service is top notch no matter what time of day or night I go in. The pharmacy staff is friendly and helpful, and the pricing for scripts is competitive. Their line of organic offerings keeps getting better and better. The bakery can be counted on for great French Bread...and beware of the seriously addictive walnut fudge brownies. If you want a 6 pack of Blue Moon or a can of Sapporo it's cold and ready for you. Don't overlook the deli, they have made to order sandwiches that are very good. The Starbucks staff is friendly and fast, and unless it's a weekend and they're getting slammed you can get in and out fast. Sometimes the produce can sell out...who knew they would run out of zucchini more than once. The produce problem keeps them from getting a 5th star...but just barely. read more
