I've been eying SMKD BBQ for a while. My church is near by but I'm always out of there too early for lunch. Had come to this spot once before when it was a different brand. I like SMKD better having now tried it too. I stopped in for lunch today. I was in the area visiting another business a few doors down. I knew this was a good opportunity to try SMKD. Besides, the smell of the smoker out front is too powerful to ignore. So I walked in, looked at the hand written chalk board menu which seemed incomplete, the turned to the self serve kiosk. I found a more complete menu there. I looked through it but ultimately ordered a brisket sandwich with a side of beans. My receipt was printed at the counter where I was also given a drink cup for the drink I orderded. My food would be brought out to me several minutes later. As the kitchen staff were prepping my tray, the lady working the front grabbed a fork for me and said I was going to need it. She wasn't kidding. This sandwich was S T A C K E D The brisket was thick sliced and piled high. Pre-sauced and topped with pickles and pickled onions. All on a sesame seed bun. My eyes were as wide as my mouth would have to be to pythkn this thing down. I made such a mess. My hands and face were sticky and painted with sauce. It was awesome. My only complaint was the level of fat cap left on the meat. Its a double edge sword really. On one side, the fat provides flavor and moisture to the meat. On the other side, I'm not a fan of a gelatinous blob of fat. Just not by thing. So I pulled off the bigger blobs and went about my business. It wasn't so much fat to ruin the sandwich. It was still excellent. I just had to do a little trimming. Now for the beans. Good flavor. Good chunks of meat mixed in. I am going to assume these are fresh beans and not canned as they were still a bit firm. Not mushy. Not hard. Just a bit of an al dente chew to them. A little bit of mother sauce and spicy sauce brought them up that extra notch. Good stuff. Yes, I much prefer SMKD over the last spot that was here. Good service. Good food. Unfortunately, I am extremely disappointed. We spent $74 on a to-go order, so we expected the food to be fresh. It absolutely was not. The brisket was nothing but fat and completely bland. The sausage and ribs were dry with little to no flavor. The beans were undercooked, and both the potato salad and mac and cheese lacked any seasoning or taste. To make matters worse, the "sweet potato" hush puppies were neither sweet potato flavored nor edible--they were so dry you could barely swallow them. This was not an off day, as the owner was present during our visit. Since we ordered our food to go, there is no excuse for it not being fresh. For the amount of money we spent, the quality was unacceptable, and we left feeling like we completely wasted our money. This review is based on a first-time visit on 5/6/26. I arrived for lunch at 1:30 with a party of 6 and asked if I could stake out some space for us at one of their large communal tables. We all placed our orders once everyone arrived, and proceeded to chow down. I was really happy to see that the menu had a section for "Green Stuff" and proceeded to order the Kale Caesar with Brisket (I can't go to a BBQ place without getting their brisket), along with an order of their Marble Cornbread. The Kale Caesar had a lovely dressing - bright and perfect for the kale. The brisket was a teeny bit dry, but had a lovely smoky flavor, which rounded out the salad nicely. The order cornbread was generous... so much so that I had to ask if that was one or two orders. It was buttery and dessert-adjacent without being overly sweet. Yum! Others in my party raved about their food too. The chicken in particular got a nice shout out, and we all left full and happy, AND with leftovers in to-go boxes. This joint is hands down the best barbecue we've had in the henderson area, and definitely could be included in a conversation for best in vegas. Our expectations were absolutely shattered. We had tried to come to this place once before for a dessert we saw online, however they were sold out. We made a mental note to visit again if we were in the area, and I am sure glad we did. The experience started off great, when walking in we were greeted by a very friendly woman and the pit master himself who made some conversation and gave us some of his recommendations as first timers. I ordered the 2 meat 2 side combo, brisket and the pig candy with mac n cheese and creamed corn. She ordered the 1/4 chicken and potato salad. Immediately upon receiving the food I was impressed and knew we were in for a good meal. The brisket was tender and delicious, the chicken was cooked to a smoky and moist perfection, but for me the pig candy was the star of the show, I can confidently say no barbecue place we've been to is doing anything like that, do yourself a favor and order it. The sides were equally excellent, I find a-lot of times bbq places excel on one side, either the meat or the sides, this place makes an exception and cracked the code on both. The mac n cheese was excellent, the creamed corn was exactly what I wanted, and if you like pickles or dill flavor 100% order the potato salad. One aspect I especially think this place shines in, is that they aren't afraid to make the food how they think it should be done, every one of the meats had a little extra flavor either from an additional seasoning, or from a sauce. Most places stick to the traditional way things are made and that is fine but its very safe, when you add something to classic barbecued meats like these that shows confidence in your skill and the product you put out as a chef and as a business. I wish more places would throw their own flair on stuff and make it exciting and exclusive to themselves like this place does. The restaurant itself was very clean, comfortable, well kept and very organized, everything is right where you want and expect it to be. I wanted to make a section of this review just for the woman who came around to the tables, she was one of the most friendly restaurant staff members we've ever come across. Whatever you are paying her, pay her more because she deserves it. This place isn't just a if you are in the area, this place is worth a trip from anywhere in the vegas valley. I returned two times since my first review and I had to take away a star for two reasons. Reason number one price this time I got a one meat combo and paid two dollars extra for baby back ribs.. OK I get that but they don't even give you a drink? So then I had to pay $3 for a fountain drink so the combo was $23. I think that's a little bit high if you're gonna spend $20 on a combo I think it should include a beverage, but that's just me and #2 the next morning I had a really bad stomach ache. My daughter also got the regular mac & cheese and only ate two fork bowls because she said it was too spicy. Honestly, I should've asked them to redo it, but I didn't bother so that was a waste of five dollars and then the toast that I got with my ribs with one piece was OK but the other one was so hard and burnt that I tried to take a bite and I couldn't even bite it. I also could've asked them to remake that, but I figured I didn't wanna bother them because then usually when they remake stuff anywhere it doesn't get done right. Wife and I stopped in for Father's Day dinner around 5 PM. The line to place your order was back to the entrance. After waiting in line 10-15 minutes my wife ordered a pastrami on rye sandwich with a side of sweet potato hush puppies and I opted for the 2-meat combo (sausage and pulled pork) with potato salad and "dirty, dirty" beans. The staff were prompt and friendly and made sure I had everything I needed. If you are a vegetarian or don't eat red meat, the options are limited but then again it's bbq. Tried this place for the first time today and it is now my top bbq spot in vegas. We got the 4 meat, 4 side platter (ribs, burnt ends, sausage, and pork candy + greens, mac n cheese, sweet potato hush puppies, and dirty beans). Everything was amazing!!! While the others like the burnt ends and the pulled pork. The only negative there were the rib tips (I think) were rather burnt and inedible. All the sides were REALLY good. Mac and cheese was creamy and cheesy, hush puppies were sweet potato hush puppies, frickin amazing. All the sides, chef's kiss! Kid 1 is making me mention the kugel was amazing, she could have eaten 10 more. For the desserts, banana pudding, cookie w/ice cream and key lime pie. The kids enjoyed the key lime pie tangy without being overwhelming, husband liked the cookie (which was an everything cookie) and I liked the pudding. So those were a hit as well. I just found my new favorite BBQ in town! I travel a til for work and have BBQ pretty regularly and haven't found good BBQ in Vegas, only mediocre, until now. My girlfriend and I tried the brisket and she said it was the best brisket she's ever had. The burnt ends were tasty and melted in our mouths. The Mac and cheese was great but could have used some spice. I ended up having their spicy BBQ sauce which was so good! The corn bread had ube mixed in and honey butter which was moist and tasty. The weakest was the fries because it had a ranch powder and we hate ranch. I didn't request it so not sure if it's standard but was able to drown out the flavor with spicy BBQ. The smoked salmon was the real surprise--perfectly juicy yet lean, with just the right amount of smoke. Not heavy at all and incredibly flavorful. I was given the lean cut by default, so I can only speak to that, but it was executed well. It carried a nice smoke flavor and managed to avoid the dryness that often ruins a lean cut. **Ribs:** A very solid cook. They had great smoke flavor and were perfectly tender, pulling cleanly without falling completely off the bone. I ordered a combo plate with brisket, burnt ends, mac & cheese, fries, cornbread, hush puppies, and toast, and overall it was a solid experience with some definite highlights and a few misses. One thing I really appreciated is that you can ask for your brisket cut exactly how you want it, lean, fatty, or 50/50, which is such a nice touch. The brisket had really good flavor, but for my personal taste it leaned a little dry nothing BBQ sauce couldn't fix though. Once I added sauce, it came together nicely. The burnt ends were a standout for me: super flavorful, rich, and cooked well. Definitely one of the better items on the tray. The mac & cheese was creamy and comforting, not overly cheesy but still satisfying. The hush puppies surprised me in the best way, they were sweet potato hush puppies, which was new for me, and they were super flavorful with a nice sweetness. I'd absolutely get those again. Now for the not-so-great parts: the cornbread was unfortunately a miss. It was very grainy and hard, I could barely bite through it, which was disappointing. The fries had good seasoning, but they came out a bit cold; I really wish I had asked for them well done because I think that would've made a big difference. Price-wise, the combo plates are a little steep compared to other BBQ spots, especially considering a few sides didn't fully hit. I wouldn't say the food was out of this world but a pretty solid BBQ place. That said, the service helped balance things out everyone was super nice, and I liked that you can order either at the register or through a kiosk. The place itself was also clean and well-kept, which I always appreciate.One major recommendation: get the white mama sauce. It is hands down one of the best sauces they offer and really elevates the meats. So happy I finally got to try this place! The staff was incredibly friendly and patient with everyone, especially during the lunch rush. The cashier gave great recommendations and took the time to answer all our questions, which I really appreciated since it was my first visit. I came on a busy Sunday and there were about six people in line, but it gave me time to decide what I wanted, so I didn't mind at all. There was a good amount of tables that were all full. It was very clean inside. I ordered combo plate #1 with brisket, mac and cheese, and hush puppies, plus a side of sausage to try. This is my second time at SMKD BBQ and let me tell you I knew it was going to be as good as my first. And I was not disappointed. This place is tucked away in a little. A little strip mall off Eastern, easy to find with bright and vibrant signage.. but the real real way to find the place is to roll down your window and smell the amazing smoke of meats being cooked right out front. It is fifty shades of heaven right there! Inside, the place is neat as a pin, plenty of seating, and some of the friendliest staff that I have ever met. They have the perfect amount of items on the menu, plus a few little surprises. I highly recommend getting the chippies and dip as a starter, the smoked onion dip is absolutely amazing, and should be listed as a controlled substance. No fooling I would put that dip on anything. I having been a former server, I appreciate competent staff, friendly interaction, and helpful suggestions. This place has a hands-down! I got to meet most of the staff, and they were all amazing! I got to meet Alex, Gene, Karen, and Heather. Every one of them super friendly, fun interact with and had great suggestions. As far as I know we had ordered a full rack of ribs, and let me tell you they were so meaty and lean, and not a lot of fat. These were St. Louis style so they had the rub, but you need to add your own sauce. Speaking of sauces that they have three very delicious sauces. I myself prefer the original and spicy version, plus they have a white sauce that is mostly vinegar based. If you want a little bit of a kick, I suggest mixing the original with the spicy or if you want to go full bore, just douse those ribs and spicy. You will not be disappointed! Okay, let's talk about dessert. As a big fan of sweets, how could I say no to the chocolate peanut butter pie with toasted marshmallows on top? I wish I would have ordered a half a rack of ribs and one of the full pies because that would have been a perfect meal. This thing was so good, I literally could have eaten a couple of pieces. But then that would be greedy and I wanted to leave some for other people. Bottom line? If you don't go and visit SMKD BBQ soon, you are doing yourself a disservice. The staff was kind and helpful walking us through ordering on the screen. Even though it was super busy at the front counter and entrance felt a little chaotic, everything ran smoothly. The portions were perfect sized. While the mac and cheese and baked beans could use a bit more flavor, everything was good. My fav we're the kugel and hush puppies! As part of a Yelp Event I have to say I'm so happy to have been able to participate as I am NEVER on this side of town. Service was amazing! I love that it's family-owned and operated. The customer service was friendly and prompt. Ok on to the food... I got the brisket which was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. My only grief is that I got more fat than meat but I still enjoyed it. I would recommend you eat inside if it's chilly outside as the brisket is so thin it quickly gets cold. I also had the kugel which is one of my favorite Jewish dishes and it was a pleasant surprise to find it here and their take on it was, chef's kiss. Lastly, the mac n cheese has truffle oil which made my mouth water. The oil didn't over-power the cheese and it was a delicious balance. read more

Omg! If you like bbq you have to try this place! The food was amazing. I ordered the ribs, ranch fries, and mac and cheese and wow... super delicious. I was literally licking my fingers!! Lol I loved all sauces, especially this white sauce made with apple cider vinegar which I was hesitant to try at first but I was so happy once I did! Everything was hit for me, the ribs were tender, the ranch fries were packed with flavor, and the mac and cheese was extra cheesy just the way I like them! The service was exceptional! Super kind and constantly checking in to make sure everything was perfect. The atmosphere was clean, welcoming, and the whole setup is such a vibe. Holy Moly Guacamole. Imma Texas boy that smokes my own meat and kinda BBQ snob. This place rates among the top places in Texas like Terry Blacks, the original Salt Lick and Franklin BBQ.
