For the first time ever I felt harassed by a MANAGER at a grocery store. I walked in to buy some beverages before our golf round and decided to check the Pokemon vending machine. This manager named Micheal (dark hair thin guy) came up to me aggressively and accused me of cutting some kids in line. I felt embarrassed shopping at that store he then continue to be condescending and accused me of buying to resell when my son and I collect. I talked to an employee about the incident and apparently it is not the first time he does this and while he is on his shift and hovers over this machine so no one else can purchase . I would give an extra star if they carried more organic fruits and veggies. I am a stickler when it comes to organics. They do have a nice selection of fresh greens like kale, swiss chard, fennel (it must be the season!), italian parsley, lettuce, cucumber, etc.. But I don't think I have ever seen organic tomatoes (sad face). The floral section is big.. but pricey! The wine and liquor aisle is pretty abundant. I find myself staring up at all the wine bottles in search of my favorites just to see if they are on sale, and at times, they are. Bakery is ok. It always looks so half empty when I stop by there. I was a big fan of their ice cream cakes back in the day. I might give it a try again one day. It's not my number one preference to shop at Vons, but it is so close to home and it does carry some kitchen staples that I cannot get at my other favorite store, so it works. I mean, it is a big store with most everything you need. But you might pay more for convenience. Note, when you have the Vons App, you can have additional savings with digital coupons! I guess I assumed they were expensive. But they aren't that bad actually. This is the second Vons I have visited this month. And I am impressed. They have a god selection of salads, prepared salads that you can grab and go. They also have good prepared high protein snacks too. Love that. Overall, I like some of the lazy-friendly things they sell lol They also sell blueberry scones that are so yummy! I've bought water and snacks here mostly. Came here to prepare for hurricane Hilary and found what I needed. The shelves were looking for kind of empty though. It seemed like everyone had the same idea. When asking for help at self check out counyter, my "help" in the form of a middle aged tattood hispanic-American manager was rolling her eyes and a look of pure irritation. When I said, "thanks", I got a head nod without a smile. I've witnessed the middle aged male caucasion manager be just as rude to other customers and staff. Nobody seems happy. Pre-pandemuc, the entire staff were friendly and helpful and I wrnt there all the time without issues. There were lots of registers open and no self checking. I'm done. I'd rather drive an extra 5 minutes to Ralph's in Rossmore where the staff is friendly and although they have a self checkout option, many registers are open. read more

Maybe she was having a bad day or she's new and in training. Either way, she needs to learn to be much more customer service centric and not get defensive with customers. What went well is the customer service for "Pick-Up" my groceries... I don't normally shop at this market but I will start based on their excellent customer service! I made a mistake and ordered something twice, which was not a staple item for my pantry. I called the store to ask if I could switch it out for something else. Much to my surprise Brook assisted the call and said, "no problem she would be happy to return the item." No hassle just a very pleasant exchange of conversation. I then said that I noticed that 1 item could not be filled and I was able to choose an item that was in stock. Again, a very pleasant exchange of conversation. Based on this experience alone, I will be shopping at Vons as my primary market! I've used Walmart, Albertsons, and Grocery Warehouse because Curbside is such a great option as I am a senior with disabilities. If your looking for meat and your local club stores are out, it is because VONS has all the meat. No shortage and no limits. Shelves and shelves of most any cut of meat you are looking for. I've been craving steak and I was able to snag a 2 pack of 24 ounce steaks at a killet deal with my Vons Club and additional secret coupon. They had tons of cuts at reasonable prices. You can either grab the meat yourself or visit the Meat Department and tell them what you want. Lots of fish, shrimp, Angus burgers, Kabobs, Carne Asada, chicken, pork, ect. This Vons is great because there is a Butcher who will cut your meat for you. A Baker with fresh hot bread, cakes, cookies, ect. There is a Deli for your sliced cheeses and lunch meats. It's so much better to buy your sandwich necessities from the Deli than from the shelf. It is a little more pricier but well worth it. Lots of fresh produce too. They have a newly remodeled Starbucks and a Panda Express. Oh yea and Liqour. A lot of liqour. It is no lie that Vons is a little more pricier than other supermarkets. However Vons has a few items that other supermarkets don't carry. In my neck of the woods we have very limited markets. Unfortunately I don't live close to the other specialty fancier stores. But out of my 4 choices I would say Vons is my favorite. During CoronaDemic they have little one way arrows that people ignore, don't give a flying F or just dont care. 99% of people wear masks. That 1% just dont care. They encourage staying 2 carts away, but again some people just have to get in there. I'm a fan. read more

The "Just for you" additional savings on top of the club specials is garbage. It's mixed in with all the advertised weekly deals and if you don't download the app and click on the correct coupons prior to arriving, it will not work. I diligently clicked on the $2 off coupon for the 12 pack of coke in the afternoon. I went to Vons after work and apparently there were two coupons that I needed to get them at $2.67 a 12 pack. The 2nd coupon had a "image not available" which is why I failed to notice it. The cashier was nice enough to void and help me out but the system didn't update in time and oddly enough the transaction needs to be completely cancelled and re-rung up. Twice! After the 2nd void, she entered manual coupons. Cynthia is a BLESSING for this location. I understand that this was my fault for not clicking on both but the system needs to be more flexible as is this reward system! A generous 4 stars if only for Cynthia's amazing customer service. In a pinch, I'll be back, but not for any additional weekly deals. read more

I Came to Vons today (9/1/23) around after 4:30pm to grab two bags of shrimps that was on sale. When I was at a check out line the cashier name Ilja was smile and engaged and talked nicely with a customer in front of me. Then came mine turn to pay, she didn't say hi or anything she just scan the two bags of shrimp and then sat down ( apparently she had a chair where she was standing ) and pull up Vons ad newspaper and start to look through while I was putting in my phone number and paid. Next thing I know she grabbed the receipts and slightly folded and raised it up in front of my face without even looking at me. No eyes contact or smile throughout the transaction or even look at me while handed me the receipt. I feel that It was a very rude of her. read more

It's a nice store with a friendly staff. I've been shopping there since 1996. I like the Holiday decor they offer there. I also like that the store is clean and well stocked. There's a nice Flora department and a Starbucks. I miss the Chinese food that use to be available, but there's one of those same fast food Chinese places over by Costco. They use to offer an 8pc pk of dark meat fried Chicken at a great price, but they no longer offer that. The Chicken breast are too dry. read more

Man has this place gone downhill. I came for only a few items. Since they no longer seem to have the smaller shopping carts I'm there looking like a moron with a giant cart (empty) to pick up the very few things I needed. Quest #1: celery root. It's usually right there with all the other root vegetables. Today it was hiding under piles of parsley. Went to grab one of the four that were there and put my hand straight through them. Yep, my hand is now covered in rotten celery root with no way to clean it off. Based on that, how you think the rest of this review is gonna go? Quest 2: riced cauliflower. None in sight but wasn't hopeful. Last time I was searching for it here they were charging $7 a bag. Utterly ridiculous, but almost thankfully, they didn't have any. Quest 3: Caffiene water. Almost completely bare shelves and none in sight. Seems maybe it was discontinued? Not their fault, but what's with the empty shelves? I mean, there's no pandemic, blizzard or national disaster, what's the excuse this week? Quest 4: Russell stover sugar free chocolates. Okay, you caught me, I'm keto! These chocolates are one of a few things that truly satisfy a craving for sweets. Normally $2.99 a bag, frequently on sale 2/$5, they were $4.99 each today. Hard pass. Didn't make it to quest 5. I made it thru the entire store without anything worth putting in my cart. Walked out and went to a better store. read more

It's rare to meet someone that is passionate and understanding in their work as much as Nancy. Furthermore, she was an important role for our destination wedding in California. We will be forever grateful for Nancy and her team. Our journey began from Seattle to attend our grandma's funeral in LA. My grandma was a maverick, she brought her family to the U.S. as a refugee over 30 years ago to seek a better future. Sadly, her passing, was extremely difficult for me. It was a long and emotional day for us and checking out florists was the last thing on our mind. However, I am so glad that we had an encounter with Nancy and her team. From the beginning, her staff was helpful. Nancy was warm and understanding. She worked with us tirelessly especially when we left to Mexico for a few months. Nancy made a gloomy funeral day into one that was hopeful. She turned my wedding day without my grandma into a day that I will always cherish in honor of her memory. My grandma would of been so impressed surrounded by beautiful, sweet flowers and caring people. I truly felt that my grandma was taking care of us by sending us Nancy. She is truly magical. Thank you so much for helping us with our wedding. Nancy and her staff went above and beyond to provide us with perfect, elegant flower arrangements while graciously working with our limited budget.  We already appreciated her positive attitude and professionalism when we first met and discussed what we wanted, but then when we saw our wedding banquet room decked out with her arrangements, we were amazed at what they were able to pull off for us.  Working with them was the easiest and most pleasant part of our wedding planning process. I'd give this Vons 4 stars if it wasn't for the deli. It royally sucks. Their olive bar is always picked over with just scraps left. Their cold deli food looks so old there's congealed skin layers over the stuff. The hot deli food is always out of stock, always picked over. Doesn't matter what time of day they don't have shyte. The deli meats are disgusting. It's some brand I never heard of and it REEKS. I bought a few deli meats and was getting sick from the stench filling up my car on the ride home. They have it presliced and sitting there in piles for who knows how long. I still went ahead and made a sandwich out of it and got very sick. I would have been better off with a pouch of buddig. Besides the deli this store is decent. Clean, nice lighting, decent selection. Butcher and Baker has some good stuff at a decent price. Produce is usually fresh looking. Prices though are really high, much higher than Ralph's and Albertsons. They carry my favorite pasta sauce, "Dave's Gourmet Heirloom Tomato" so that's a plus. I shop here due to convenience when I don't feel like driving too far. My store of choice is Ralph's in Seal Beach. It has a similar atmosphere but they carry Boar's Head deli meat and have a fully stocked hot & cold food section. Prices are much better too. It's only a freeway off ramp away but with construction going on the drive can suck so I've been shopping at Vons more. Now... this place does have a huge bonus. Panda Express! That's right, a full on Panda Express right inside the store. Hell yeah! I know there's a lot of Panda haters out there but I love the place when I'm craving greasy heat lamp American themed Chinese food. There's also a tiny Starbucks inside. read more

On 4/6 the Manager is trying to get visitors to keep their distance, single line for all registers. It could be more efficient to split for self check out guest because staff directing are not wearing mask and getting in your space, very vocal across the store. Go the extra mile and have them wear a scarf or bandanna while so close to people. An older man cashier is totally oblivious and kept getting in my personal space. I used to hate this store. I live nearby but regularly drive past it to go to other grocery stores I prefer. But during this COVID-19 nightmare I found myself in need of some basics and thought I would give it a shot. The store was clean and well stocked. I was able to get what I needed, including nice cuts of fresh meat (in the past their meat department has been a disgrace). The staff were working hard to stock, keep order, and help us check out as quickly as possible. Everyone was friendly. Sad to find out Vons no longer carry's USDA beef exclusively. Yes, like Stater they sell Select grade in their 'specials'. They just had rib roast or NY roast $5.97 11/17 ad. When I asked about the grade they said Select Choice. Not a USDA beef grade. Like buying 87 gas at 91 prices. 3 months ago I asked what grade the Asada was. They said Choice, all our beef is choice. That was good but now they have sold out their reputation for stagflation. Ralph's is my new go to. read more

I've tried to give this store opportunity after opportunity and it's a constant disappointment and WAY overpriced. I recently moved to the area and this was the closest store, so I had moderately low hopes. Every time I've been in there has been more then 5 people in a check out line. Mind you 8:45 for a grocery store shouldn't be late. Most recently I needed to grab iceberg lettuce. An extremely common item. They had 1 head of moldy lettuce left. On a Monday night at 845, not acceptable. Very limited if not no generic items available. $2 for a head of Iceberg or Romain? That's double the price of any other grocery store. I'll make the trip to Seal Beach to go to Ralph's. I've worked in grocery before, produce section matter fact, and I rarely dish out a 1 or 2 star. But this was deserving of it.
