Tried this place last night. I was not a fan. We ordered the garlic wings, green onion wings, and yang yum chicken. The owners seem very nice. What we ordered was just not my thing. Everything seemed crazy sweet to me and had no depth of flavor. Looks like I still need to drive to Hot Sauce and Panko in San Francisco to satisfy my wing craving. I liked how crunchy the Yangs chicken was, but the sauce was too sweet. To be fair after reading Yelp reviews, I may go back and try the oven roasted chicken plate with the vegetables or some wings that have no sauce on the outside. I was not fond of the sides including the pink radish, and I usually love the sides at a Korean restaurant. Just give me some good Kimchee or diced Kimchee radishes and I would have been much happier. Hard location to find just down the street from the main entrance to the Brendan theaters. If I could eat at Vons everyday with no concern to my health, I would do it. The first time, I tried the wine and green onion chicken, which was unique and delicious. A bit mustard-y, if you're into that. I also love the crunchy chicken...I prefer to Bonchon because I like my fried chicken without the sauce. The tteokbokki is probably my favorite - it's made here differently than I've had at other Korean restaurants - they pan fry it so it's crisp on the outside! Delicious. Saw this place last week and decided to try it out with my roommate. The place was clean and they were very friendly. Someone came by and explained the menu. We got an oven chicken and a fried chicken. We also ordered the sweet potato fries. The fries were just okay. The chicken was so much larger than we thought it would be. Came here yesterday for a late lunch with my significant other. We ordered a half order of yum yang drumsticks, a half order of vons special sauce drumsticks, and the Kimchi fried rice. The quality of the meat in the drumsticks was very good. I think we both preferred the taste and skin more in the fried chicken than the oven cooked chicken. We were happy with our chicken and would come back again to try the wings and other items on their menu. You'll notice people will say it will take awhile to get your order. For fried chicken, it always takes awhile because they make it as you order it, and more often than not, someone has a order ahead of you. So don't come here expecting to get your food in 10 minutes. It's normal. That's how it works. I'm not a big Cole slaw person so I didn't try it here. The radishes seemed fine except they are pink. The Kimchi fried rice could be better. It could use more flavor. They have beers on tap, the usual soju, and bottled beers. A decent selection of alcohol in my opinion. They have two TV's on the walls to watch sports while you eat. For those playing Pokémon Go, you'll be happy to hear you'll be within range of a Pokéstop eating here and be nearly in range of another but still can reap the benefits of a Lure from the farther one. They have a shared gender bathroom that was super clean when I went to go wash my hands. The staff was extremely nice and was always checking with us if everything was okay and we needed anything else. And all come with pickled radishes and coleslaw. I loved both of these flavors. Be warned, the spicy is spicy. Not burn your face off, but spicy. We also tried the Von's special and soy/vinegar. Von's has drastically changed after the change of management for the worse, sauces on the chicken are thin and just pools to the bottom of the box instead of sticking to the chicken, the new sauces aren't awful but definitely worse and not as authentic as the original recipes from the previous management. The coleslaw wasn't anything special before but now it's soggy cabbage, the chicken mu thankfully hasn't change much but is still noticeably worse. Von's used to be my favorite restaurant in Concord and when I went to South Korea in 2018 Von's still held it's own against Korean fried chicken places in Seoul and Jeju so it's sad to see the place that got me addicted to Korean fried chicken and curious about Korean cuisine in general, go down in quality so much and so quickly. read more

This place is so good! I agree with other reviews saying it's like an Asian KFC. It's different in taste but very delicious. To me, the crispy fried chicken has a slight sweetness to it, which I don't mind. Their lunch specials are a good deal as well and employees are friendly enough. Love the chicken at Vons but the service is so horrible! Called in for our order 30 minutes before got there, and they said it would only take 25 minutes. I thought, wow we have 5 minutes to spare! Get there and they said our chicken was not ready...and after waiting another 10 minutes they mention that it will take them 10 minutes to make rice. Initially, I didn't want to write a review, but I ended up giving in so everyone can know how bad my first experience was. Long story short, a friend of mine recommended this place multiple times and said the chicken was delicious/worth the try. So today, I decided to visit with my boyfriend. We both looked at the outside menu prior to entering the restaurant and decided it'd be a cool place to try. As soon as we walked in I said "Hello" to the lady at the front counter. She then looked at us and simply asked, "For Here or To Go?" without greeting us back. Astounded, I brushed it off and said we'd be eating for here. After that, the lady said we could choose any table to sit at since the restaurant did not have many people in it - most of them seemed to be waiting on their to go orders. I looked around, found a booth and went for the smaller table out of the booth tables. Suddenly, I noticed a large bug on its back struggling to turn right side up on the table I wanted to sit at. Disgusted at the sight of the bug, I just ignored it and sat at next table over. The lady came behind us quickly telling us to switch tables to the smaller one (with the bug!!), but in my head, I absolutely did not want to sit at a table with that bug. I know it may not be a big deal for some, but I personally lost my appetite when I saw the bug. There weren't any napkins or anything to clean it off the table, so I just tried to avoid the situation overall and sit at another table. BUT no, the lady insisted we sit at the table with the bug. After she saw what I was looking at, she immediately tried to brush the bug off the table with the MENU and then casually HANDED over the menu to my boyfriend who was oblivious to what had just happened. No apology at all for the bug situation and at that moment, I was telling myself maybe we should leave and try out another place, but I sat there saying "okay maybe I'm just overreacting over this damn bug, maybe the food will be good!?" After awhile, she finally came back to order our food and gave us barely filled waters cups (the water had this odd taste to it). I felt rushed about what I had to choose since it was my first time and I honestly had no idea what it would taste like, but I was eager to remain open minded. My boyfriend and I both ordered lunch specials which we thought were a decent price, but a little pricey considering other wing places give more wings for the same price. The food portion was good, I did get full and the wings did taste decent, but weren't what I hoped for. I enjoyed the fries that my boyfriend got with his lunch special, but the rice and coleslaw were MEH - I've had better elsewhere. While we tried to enjoy our meal quietly, the lady who was serving us NEVER came back to check up on us. As more customers came, she would offer to refill their cups, check up on them, and do what a server should do - but not to my boyfriend and I. Everything that I hoped to be awesome in this restaurant instantly left me with regret. I tried to be open minded and hope for it to somehow make a comeback, but it never did. Honestly,it was a waste of money that we spent there and wish we went elsewhere, but I guess now we know how this restaurant is. Would've been way more satisfied with just Popeyes or even KFC. What pissed me off the most was the old Korean lady that rung us up. She was so rude. When I got my bill I noticed that we were overcharged. Went to ask the lady why is the bill higher than the price on the menu, she annoyingly said it's the flavors we chose. I asked her where did it say on the menu that there will be an up-charge for certain flavors? Where did it even say that the lunch prices were only for a particular flavor? She just grabbed the menu and gave me a grumpy look as she proceeded to ring me up for the higher price. Not sure how this restaurant expect to survive with this kind of food and service.
