Back in the day I used to work at Herbergers (at Southdale). When Herbergers left and Von Maur stores started popping up I kind of refused to shop here because I felt like it would give me the same vibes as Herbergers... and it does minus the sales that Herbergers had. For sure feel like it's catered to the older crowd. We parked at Von Maur to cut through to the mall. A few things did catch my eye while passing so we ended up looking around a bit. I did find an item to purchase and walked a bit to find a pay station. When I walked up a customer and the cashier were deep into conversation about vacation and even with me waiting they carried on for 5 or so minutes after the fact. I ended up sitting in the chairs nearby to wait. I can say when they finally wrapped their conversation the cashier wasn't as friendly which made me think maybe I shouldn't purchase from them. There was no "thank you for your patience or waiting", "did you find everything okay" or anything. Overall the store is pretty neat and organized. Not a ton of staff around but also never seen a lot of people shopping either. Items seem to be good quality. read more

I dropped by Eden Prairie Center in late September after being a part of a live audience for The Jason Show. I wanted to grab some lunch at the food court and bring it back to my hotel room. I parked by Von Maur and cut through the store to get to the food court. When I lived in Minnesota, huge department stores were popular. Macy's. Dayton's. Sears. Nordstrom. Neiman Marcus. Dayton's was Minnesota-based. It died, similar to Sears. It was my first time stepping foot in a Von Maur store. It felt like walking into an old Eaton's or Simpsons store when I was a kid. There was a lot to see. It felt comfortable. There was excitement. The first store that the von Maur family opened was in the late 1800's in Davenport, IA. It has since expanded to fifteen states. Its headquarters are still in Davenport. I had no idea. I have actually been to Davenport! This store had a wide variety of brand-name merchandise. I saw popular brands, such as Tommy HIlfiger and Anne Klein. There were many brands that I had never heard of, such as Lyssé, AGB, and Ruby Rd for women's clothing. I am such an outlet, discount shopper. It was nice checking out a classy department store, to change things up. I felt comfortable. Staff were super friendly and non-judgmental. They smiled and said hi. The best part was hearing a pianist in the lobby play songs at noon. It was so cheerful and refreshing as I browsed and moved. I loved it. There were escalators and elevators to get to to various floors of this large department store. It was clean and inviting. I will need to return when I'm not looking for lunch to shop here. Von Maur is a very old fashion department store, which in this day and age is quite nice. My complaint is with management at the store level and corporate level. The store ordered and shipped shors to me. The issue is Returning. As the store had the shoes shipped from another store rather than .com. To return the shoes is 100% shipping cost to me rather than free if they had been ordered from .com. I live an hour from this store and there is none closer. The management would not even consider creating a return label at some cost to me. BEWARE when the store places an order the Return is 100% on the customer. Use Von Maur.com and there isn't a cost. I'll be careful in the future. I've learned my lesson. read more

They refused to wrap another retailers product for Christmas even though it was with a Von Maur purchased item. They were able to do this in the past but not this year. It caused me a lot of headaches read more

We have been shopping in Roseville and Eden Prairie since 2022. We have been experiencing unpleasant following from the stuff as much as we could we ignored them and probably spent 6-7k since. But recently it gets out of hand, we went to the Eden prairie store and one of the stuff treated as like we are there to steal and the way she treated us makes up to return the stuff we bought same day and decided to never step a foot in that store ever again and of course we're black. I was in from Atlanta and in need of a dress shirt and tie for a cocktail party. The moment I walked into the men's suit section, I was greeted by Brian, who was quick to work his magic--just such an experienced pro with a great eye. He knew just how to select a shirt and tie (and even had a great socks suggestion!) to complement my sport coat. He measured my neck and sleeve, then suggested just the right fit for my long torso and somewhat big, schlubby build. Realizing that due to my torso length, the keeper loop on the back of the tie would be too low to work, he sent it to his alteration expert Lana to have it raised. And it was done so fast. He proceeded to steam my outfit, and provided a proper wood hanger and garment bag. Talk about service with attention to detail! I had a very disheartening experience at the Eden Prairie store this weekend. I have enjoyed this store for years, however, I am unlikely to ever return. I made a return of two new bras as I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and, well things are about to change. I told the cashier my reason for the return for which she had no response and appeared to be more annoyed. I felt dismissed and disrespected.... beyond horrible customer service! I have never been a fan of big box department stores, but Von Maur is a wonderful exception. Similar to Nordstrom with the same high quality inventory and exceptional customer service. A beautiful space that is very open which allows you to take your time and browse without feeling like you're shoulder to shoulder with other customers. I go here quite often, especially for that certain gift. Debra at the John Hardy department is always so helpful. Their selection is rivaled only by the John Hardy store at the Galleria. I absolutely love this locations fragrance section. I could spend hours alone in this one section. Mind you, this location is huge. There's so much to find and explore, they allow you to have all genres of fashion in one place. When I'm done shopping for myself, I can spend adequate amount of time shopping for others because their sections are that big. Holiday spirit is thick, you can feel the Merry in the air and in the decor. They actually have an exceptional decor area that is seasonal. Picture this. Frozen tundra. Small town. A boutiquey department store that is kind of like a cutie mini Bloomies. Wait...repeat that last part again??? Yep. Found it in Eden Prairie on my biz trip. A few locals told me that this was the best place to go if I wanted to see some brand names I'd recognize. I thought they meant Mossimo and Champion. Hey, I don't brand discriminate. Cute stuff is cute stuff. But nope. Joe's. Seven. Juicy. Free People. My kinda shop. A few hundred dollars later, and a seriously about to pop suitcase I am boarding the plane to return home. I go to this Van Maur really because it's closer than Macy's, and there is no Nordstrom or Nieman, Bloomies, etc. here. I feel that the salespeople (in shoes and jewelry) generally are helpful, but there are exceptions in other departments. Go try to look at the perfume counter and smell something. Just try. You will get followed and stared at and talked AT the entire time. Helpful? If you like to be stared at and stalked. I personally do not. This has happened 3 times and I'm done getting perfume here. I am a perfume addict too, oh well. I even told the lady that I would let her know if I need assistance..and kept smelling perfumes. Oh no you don't. The staring and talking and following continued and she got even more aggressive. It was weird. She completely ignored my 'leave me alone now' body language. Upstairs in ladies, an older blonde saleswoman in a skirt and sensible shoes got into my personal space as I was looking through a rack of clothing and boomed out aggressively. "What can I help YOU with today"? Like she was angry. I have never seen her before, it can't be personal. Maybe there is a thief in town that looks like me, that's the vibe I get. But my wedding ring along is more than their annual salary and I have no limit on my credit card. I like to shop. Maybe they need to drop the attitude and just be in the area if needed., after a quick hello. I'd like to shop unmolested here but it seems to be too much to ask for at Van Maur Eden Prairie, MN. 4 stars only because they carry Yurman and have a pianist. read more

Two things Von Maur does better than anyone. First, I love their perfume department. Whenever I make a purchase there is a very helpful person there and she always offers extra samples of fragrances that I like or that I can use. Last time I purchased a gift set of Dolce and Gabanna Fragrances. The salesperson included a purse roll on of both fragrances. Huge value! Second, the sales at Von Maur are awesome. From the shoe room... just bought a pair of Dansko's for $73.00 wow! To racks of really nice sales. I think if you need something you are wise to check Von Maur for quality and value. read more

#Von Maur is a #department #store that takes pride in the details. Having shopped in their Ann Arbor, Michigan location I went to the Eden Prairie store expecting amazing service. Maybe the sales people were tired, but when my son and I walked into the Children's shoe department I wasn't expecting the sales guy to pass me over for two people who arrived AFTER me. This is something you would not see in the Ann Arbor location.... That said, I like to shop at Von Maur. With a commitment to superior service, they make it easy for you to like them (except for yesterday). They have a really nice selection of merchandise--things you don't see at every other store in town--and it's a great place to buy something for you or someone on your gift list. Chek around each section for sale merchandise. It's a great way to get a high quality resent at a very good price. As you shop, a pianist plays music, and you can hear it as you browse through the store. It puts you in a relaxed, spending mood! If you're buying a gift, be sure you visit the second floor and have their gift wrap center (that's right CENTER) wrap your present. They have a very nice variety of paper and ribbons, and very professionally dressed gift wrap persons take your present, box it and wrap it in just about 15 minutes. This is a HUGE plus, as it takes the stress out of buying and giving gifts--and all of this is FREE of charge. read more

Von Maur is basically the Nordstrom of Minnesota, because who really wants to hit MOA on a Saturday afternoon? Classic, designer brands and I am a huge fan of Sandy at the Estee Lauder counter - she's a sweetheart and has been helpful as I make my way into premium skincare and makeup. They have incredible customer service - from returning wedding gifts (easy exchange for a gift card), a dead Kate Spade watch battery (replaced for free!) and the aforementioned makeup gurus, you will be impressed and happy. Lastly, live pianists most days and evenings. It's like a spa experience just walking through the place. Perfection. Just remember, this isn't a discount store so don't knock on them for not providing that - its not their mission! read more

I walked through Von Maur on a recent trip to Eden Prairie Center and am so glad I did: piano music drifting in the air, beautiful marble flooring, clothing racks that are well positioned and don't make one feel claustrophobic. What an experience! Von Maur has classic, designer brands, a gorgeous shoe department, and live piano music most days and evenings. There were some 75% off racks and other deals, but you should expect to pay higher prices for the higher-end items not on sale. Even if you don't buy anything, it is definitely worthwhile to just walk through and browse. read more

My first trip to Von Maur was a success! This was an average sized, upscale department store. Previously I had read that Von Maur is like Nordstrom and I would agree. Definitely more Nordstrom than Neiman Marcus. Very solid men's department; not huge, but very well laid out. Carried some of the same brands as Nordstrom, but not exactly the same...Good merchandise, good sales, and great customer service. Can't wait until Von Maur opens in Milwaukee! read more

Once Dayton's disappeared, I became a Nordstrom regular. I can't stand Macy's and was willing to fight the Mall of America headache to get to a clean store with good service & quality items. I don't need to do that anymore because Von Maur is right down the road and I haven't shopped anywhere else in town for clothing since they opened their doors (shoes don't count, you simply can't beat Nordstrom there). The sales people are great. Nobody glares at you like you can't afford those jeans you're looking at. They've got a cute gift area, large handbag selection with all the best brands, and a clearance shoe room where you will easily find a few pairs you had no idea you couldn't live without. One wish - expand the costmetic selection to a few more bands, but other than that, they've got everything you could need. read more

Purchased my daughters prom dress here. After having it altered in the store we got it home and tried on once. Day of prom we went to get dressed and I had to sew a hole in the skirt and reattach beading that was falling off on the front. When we tightened to corset the top loop broke. She now has to keep pulling her dress up. When I think of the cost of the dress I am extremely upset at the shoddy workmanship. I don't think I will ever purchase from here again. read more

I Love Von Maur! Every time I shop there I find fabulous deals. Everything is Displayed beautifully. The sales items are easy to find on the round racks , no cluttered signs to advertise sales. Even the items that aren't on sale are reasonably priced. By not having to advertise they can offer decent prices on high quality merchandise unlike Macy's! They have an amazing variety of styles for all ages. The customer service is amazing , just like Dayton's used to be. I love the free coat check and gift wrapping.
